A: Use a PS2 controller...
B: Use a (arcade) Stick
I honestly can't see a 360 controller being any good for fighting games.
Anyway, 2 years ago I bought a wired XBox360 controller... [snip]-Russ :teach:
btw, what's the price for the most cheapest arcade stick? i'd like to buy one
I've heard there's a mod you can do to the 360 pad with some sandpaper and a pringles lid, can't remember the link though, just google it.I believe the link is here... http://tinyurl.com/ml4njd
I don't know if this is the cheapest, but $30 seems to be the going price for a Mayflash stick (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-m-49-en-70-3d9n.html).does anyone have this? usually cheap arcade sticks are not so good in terms of quality
You can get a good one for $100 (HRAP 2 or something). I have one but I prefer pad. Still.I've heard there's a mod you can do to the 360 pad with some sandpaper and a pringles lid, can't remember the link though, just google it.I believe the link is here... http://tinyurl.com/ml4njd
I'm usually quite hesitant of hardware mods, but this looks fairly easy and difficult to screw up as you're not actually cutting any of your controller parts. I don't see the direct benefit here, though, as it seems nobody uses the d-pad anyway.
Also, if sticks are that inexpensive I might be interested in getting one. I was just a bit scared off when I saw in a general thread that someone said they got a "crapy/mediocre" stick for $150.

Couldn't find any real reviews for the thing, but I am a bit worried about the fact that not even their website mentions what parts are being used, so it would really be hit or miss :psyduck:I don't know if this is the cheapest, but $30 seems to be the going price for a Mayflash stick (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-m-49-en-70-3d9n.html).does anyone have this? usually cheap arcade sticks are not so good in terms of quality

does anyone have this? usually cheap arcade sticks are not so good in terms of qualityI have one, which I bought purely because I needed a cheap PS3-compatible stick for Evo, since I don't have a PS3 and therefore nothing that will work on PS3 lol. Although I'm still relatively new to sticks (particularly various brands/parts/quality), I haven't had any issues while playing with it so far. The joystick is kinda loose, that doesn't seem to affect gameplay at all though.
The odd thing, as well, is that right now I can't seem to map anything onto the trigger buttons. ... Another retarded thing with the XBox 360 controller is that the default driver has the right and left triggers on a single axis.
[snip...]
Hope I'm not coming off as rude, just trying to help. :3
[...] personally though, i prefer a ps2 pad for meltyPreach it, bro.
This is the pad I use. I've had if for over a year and for the price you can't beat it.Haha! That is cheap as cheap can get! I prefer something with at least a little bit more functionality. I'm also able to amaze my friends and astound my family when I say I have an XBox 360 controller but now XBox. :-P

This makes it difficult for other games such as emus for old games. (If you know what I mean... is that topic taboo here?)We just frown on talks of piracy, especially when it comes to melty itself.

Really?trust me, you'll never want to being chased by them :prinny:
I always thought that being chased down by a loli squad was more of a form of encouragement or reward then a deterent.

hey guys, what about this one? (http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=180372356717#ebayphotohosting)Honestly speaking, it's sort'a hard to tell how good a stick is going to be without knowing what parts are being used (Sanwa, Seimitsu, etc.), and it will really be a hit or miss thing (unless your lucky to know someone actually using one).
i'm going to buy it o_O
This is the pad I use. I've had if for over a year and for the price you can't beat it.Screw that, I've been using this one (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/pc_gaming/gamepads/devices/288&cl=US,EN) for almost three years now and haven't had the slightest problem with it. This includes playing on MANY emulators, mashing Melty, mashing LOTS of DMC3 and 4, mashing LOTS of doujin games, and the occasional Street Fighter Alpha 3 match on my friend's PS3. (YES, the PS3 recognizes this pad and uses it like a regular one!)

That pad is awesome. However, that thing broke on me sooooo many times, I guess I am just unlucky. everyone should try that pad atleast once though, it is a million times better than the ps2 pad imo.
Well I suppose the getting chased part might be tireing, but the getting caught sounds good! :bleh:Really?trust me, you'll never want to being chased by them :prinny:

Now I'll once again have the upper hand on my Japanese gaming buddy.
Ok... so I switched up my button config to the one now seen in the first post and performed the über-easy d-pad hack on my controller and it is sooooo much easier now!what tutorial did you followed? i want to do it too °_°

I feel like a fucking weeaboo for saying this, but Nihongo-nese should be Nihonjin-nese. Nihongo is the language; Nihonjin is the nationality. Now I'll once again have the upper hand on my Japanese gaming buddy.
If they are truly Nihongo-nese, then it is impossible to have an upper hand at gaming against them. A true Japanese is actually a robot. They build Gundams over there for fun. :slowpoke:

EDIT:
I want to reference Nippon the Nipponese right now, but I can't find the images and I don't think anyone would know what I'm talking about anyway. =<
Also, why would you buy a gamepad when you can get a ps2>usb converter for even cheaper and ps2 pads are much more durable? The only reason I'd see is not owning a ps2, but really, what gamer doesn't?
Don't let other people's personal preferences get to you, if you want to be a 360 pad warrior then do it.
Of course, there's a certain advantage to being able to walk into an arcade and knowing how to use a proper arcade stick.
If you want to have the same layout that the PS2 games use, you'll have to map it as such:
A - X
B - Y
C - B
D - A
Quick Action - Right Bumper
I'm not sure about the macro buttons, no one here uses them and the arcades don't have them.
Edit: Oh yeah, wireless controllers may have input delay. If you can get a wired 360 controller you'd be wise to do so.

Well played. Now play a REAL game like VANGUARD PRINCESS.
So...how's that 360 pad working out for ya? From my experiences with it...I've found it to be quite the pain in the ass. I'm actually currently working on converting to stick full-time, since I had no choice but to go stick on 360 games due to that sad d-pad.

Go to "Control Pannel" -> "Regional and Language Options" -> "Advanced" and set the language to use for non-unicode programs to "Japanese" and then restart your computer. Works like a charm!

This is the very basics of basics for playing Japanese games :psyduck:
