Lemme save the thread.

RoaH is best from what I've seen. Don't know his move properties besides the all important jump cancellabe on block (no restrictions) 6C and BE6C.

Combos:
2A 2B 5B 5C 2C 6C jBC airdash jB dj jBC airthrow.

2A 2B 5B 5C 5A 6AA 6C jBC airdash jB dj jBC airthrow.

2A 2B 5B 5C 5A6AA BE6C 214A jBC dj jBC airthrow.

2A 2B 5B 5C 5A6AA *delay* BE6C 214C 6C jBC dj jBC airthrow

2A 2B 5B 5C 5A6AA *delay* BE6C 214C 6C jBC 236A dj jBC airthrow

In H, you can do his air strings off of his 214 A, 214 B, and 214 C. This is important. The EX version is really good too. Off of counterhit, I'm pretty sure you can combo into his Arc Drive.  ???  :o
His tackle, 236 A (B or C) is safe on block if spaced correctly. The EX version is basically Ciel's EX Hero.
623 A (B or C) is some kind of diagonal headbutt. Pretty good anti air. This probably works better in the air since it beats out alot of air to airs. EX is worthless.

C Roa isn't bad at all. You give up really good block strings for a better keep away game. The orbs are air unblockable and you can set up some intricate traps. He's good, but takes alot of work.

latest arcadia mag had a page of stuff written up by ILS on Roa
i don't really have time to write everything down from it, i'll upload pics of it when i have time

he says strongest style is Half Moon
you can protect yourself from jumpins by using 214 lightning

for full moon, if you're in the corner and do a throw you can follow it up with a 2A catch but the timing is hard

Because Roa sucks and nobody plays him?  Something like that.

Btw, lightining 99% chance does nothing.  Ever see Akiha hit somebody with a flametongue?  They light on fire.  Nothing happens.

I like how goes for the tk orb set instead of airthrowing mostly.

too bad he dropped his best combo multiple times

Roa C-Moon Lightning Meter

22A charges if held
22B charges 3 instantly
22C discharges lightning
lightning lvls
1:quick hit. knock back.
2-5:knock down
6:circuit break
7-9:hits anywhere on screen
10:instant attack when 10. decent damage, massive damage if fully charged with 22A
charge meter to lvl.6 and set up for air combo. instead of j.bc after set up, set off lightning for circuit break. works everywhere on screen  :teach:

edit: lvl 7-10 discharge will automatically discharge any 214 attacks on screen
: Re: The Official Roa Thread/Guide/Discussion/w/e
: Ryuuka August 24, 2009, 06:36:57 AM
The game apparently discerns when you use 22A to charge instead of 22B. 4+ charges of 22A will float them instead of knockdown, but that's about the only difference between the two, other than maybe a damage increase per charge. Also, any orbs that are hit by 22C lightning at any level will discharge instantly (which will screw up the untechability on lvl 4+ 22C).

F-Moon Roa has a get out of jail free card (214C, completely invincible and is air unblockable) that should count for something.
214A 214A 214A = valid combo!

Yeah I can't figure anything out either.  He has some pretty good 236 shenanigans but I haven't found any decent combos yet.  If you keep pressure strings going and finish them with either 236A or 236B you can fake them out by holding B on 236B to just do a simple dash-in and then go for a throw.

6C is also great to use meaty, although the recovery time is abysmal.

Ironically although most of his moves are air-unblockable, his DP move isn't  :P

As heard from voomer many times but has anyone tried the 236a 214b 236c string and messed up and got Arc drive just because you hit 1 coming back to 2 for the 236c? I tried to let the stick go for a sec but then Im always late with the ex, Just wondering if anyone else has this problem? btw someone needs to post up a list of chars that can get 2c'd after 236 wallslam for oki/bnb refrences. Im at school so I cant check myself atm but hit me up on aim if you want to talk C strats. :blah:

Half Moon:
His TK 236A and TK 236C are very good if you ask me, it's possible to link an airstring after a normal ground combo into TK 236C. Timing is tough but possible.
TK 236A has like no recovery but normal hitstun. If executed immediately on a ground opponent, you can combo it. Also great anti-air besides the lightnings.

Lalala.

Any tips on how to get jc. jBC j236B jc. jBC AT with C-Roa consistently? The command interpreter makes this combo stupid hard at times. I keep getting a second j236B when I want a dj.B.  :emo:

: Re: The Official Roa Thread/Guide/Discussion/w/e

The trick to C-Roa seems to be that you need to pick what you want:

Frames or resources

Oki or damage

Orbs or gauge

And then knowing which is best to have in each matchup.
: Re: The Official Roa Thread/Guide/Discussion/w/e
: abitofBaileys September 19, 2009, 05:29:41 AM
With F-Roa you can connect 2A after a corner throw. Timing is strict, about 1 frame or so. Out of 9 tries I succeed 1.

Characters with larger hitboxes (Wara, Nero, etc) are easier to connect.

Works on: everyone!
It's very easy on the Necos, and even 5A and 2B is possible with them.

You can connect 2A 5B -> aircombo or whatever you want,
except for the Lens, 5B doesn't connect.

2B 5B 5C(2) 6C 236C 6C 22C

costs: 100 meter, 00-03 gauge

Gets you knockdown, you can follow it up with setting a TK orb.

Well it seems that Roa is shit tier which is bit of shame since I DO plan on maining him.
But that being said, does he have ANY good matchups? There's has to be something in his playstyle that gives him the high ground in some situations.

Since when is roa shit tier? He's an awesome solid char. And the fact that he isn't whored around like s tier chars means he's a good matchup vs anyone who hasent played against him, alot of good players lose to lack of matchup experience vs him.

Well I was just going by what people were saying on the first page, it's good to hear that he's a solid character.
But with that at ease, I would like to know, what exactly does Roa excel at that perhaps another character wouldn't be as viable at doing?

H-Roa: excels at pressure strings and rushdown; has very good anti-air options with his lightning. Has soko darou, a jump cancelable -on block- 6C, and EX lightning to reset pressure.

C-Roa: COMBOZ SON, GET DAT LIGHTNING, DROP DEM ORBZ.

F-Roa: Solid normals and decent damage for free.
