[MBAC-Netplay] Melty World Zero
« on: November 23, 2010, 07:46:46 PM »

THE GOALS

1.0 - The goal of this championship is provide some international competitivity, what I'm sure can be pretty exciting so I ask everyone's participation for it to be successful. Melty World may occur once per year. Right now I don't have financial conditions to organize a worldwide championship live, but I already have plans for that (my second dream) when I pass in the test for the job I'll be studying for as soon as I finish university (my first dream = this job). When that happens, I'll pay the travel of at least 16 players qualified somehow all over the world once per year. Unfortunately this will take several years to happen, however, those next championships will carry the same name, Melty World, so this one will be the first of the series, and if it deppends on me, this name will make history in the Melty Blood community someday (I hope).

THE REGISTRATION

2.0 The registrations for Melty World Zero will remain open until day 04 of January.
The champinship is international, in other words, open to everyone. This same edital was posted in Last-Arc, in spanish and MeltyBrasil, in portuguese.

2.1 - Overdue registrations wont be allowed.

2.2 - To register post your nick, your country, and if you preffer the matches to be 2 out of 3, or 3 out of 5.

2.3 - The registration is free (and there will be prizes).

THE CHAMPIONSHIP

3.0 - The champinship will happen on day 08 of January, Saturday, beggining at 01 PM EST. If there's more then 20 players registered (what will probably happen) the rounds will be divided between Saturday and Sunday, day 09.

3.1 - Official announcements will be posted in this topic and in other 2 forums (the same announcements). The webchat used will be this:

The first round will be announced precisely at 01 PM on the forums. It'll be sent a message in webchat too when the rounds begin. It's recommended to be in webchat 10 or 15 minutes before.

3.2 - Neko-Arc e Neko-Arc Chaos are banned.

3.3 - The model will be All vs All, and in case of high ping (delay 8 or more) the players wont need to play. Instead, the result will be considered "neutral" and will be harmonized with the player's overall results vs the overall results of the other players. If the delay is 7 the match have to be played.

Exemplifying the neutral system: If both have 100% win, the result of neutral would be a draw. If one has 100% win and the other 50% win, the first one will win 75% (match/rounds) vs 25% (match rounds) for the second. If it were 3 out of 5, it would be 3(6) to 1(2). If it were a 2 out of 3 it would be 2(4) to 0,666(1,333) -> 2(4) to 0(2) to simplify (the closest result).

3.4 - If a player gets more then 1/3 of his results as neutral in the end, for each neutral exceeding 1/3 a penalty of -1 round will fall over every neutral of this player in the harmonization.

3.5 - If both the players agree, they can play, even with delay 8 or more. The reason there wont be eliminatory matches is simple: likelihood of high ping, which is unbefitting to decisive matches.

3.6 - Unfortunately the max number of players allowed will be 40. That's because it's all vs all, and each round may take around 20 minutes. 40 players = 40 rounds = 13 hours and 20 minutes. That's the reason. Even for 2 days, that's the limit.

3.7 - The max time tolered of absence will be 5 minutes after the round is announced. If your opponent doesn't show up after 5 minutes, you can post victory by w.o. in the respective forum you are member (a simple "I won against blabla by w.o." will do). In case the two are absent, it will be given double w.o.

3.8 - If a match take too long to happen (normally due to connection issues) it will be given neutral for that match and the championship will go on normally.

3.9 - Any who abuse of these rules will be punished.

3.10 - The organizers are Cristu and Inso, so be sure to read our messages in the webchat in that time.

THE DUTIES

4.0 - The language used in the webchat will be preferencially english. I ask for the compreension of everyone in this point, because there will be people of 3 or more different languages. In last case, if you can't say what you want to say in english you can say it in other languages, but please try to avoid it. It's worth reminding, however, there wont be much things to talk about. The most part of the messages will probably be IP trades, one asking for the other to enter hamachi, etc. And for that a basic english will do. I don't think there will be much problem in this point. It's worth reminding too that webchat allows private messages (look the webchat tutorial at the end).

4.1 - The winner has the duty to post the results of his matches in any of the championship's topics. Just copy and paste the registry of the fight in your sessionlog.txt in the respective forum. The file sessionlog.txt is inside of the same folder the game is. Open it and roll it all the way down. There will appear the registry of your last fights. In case you don't have sessionlog.txt, copy manually what's written in MB Caster like this:

Cristu (V.Sion) vs Pikachu (W.Len)
2-0 , 1-2 , 2-1 , 1-2 , 2-1 ----- 3(8) - 2(6)
This will be enough.

4.2 - To avoid lag, the allowed stages are:

Classic Home Evening Party
Classic Home Invasion
Tohno Mansion Main Gate
Classic Home Huge Library
Battlefield
Seventh Heaven Temple
Back Alley
Through the Looking Glass
Witch on The Holy Night
Classic
Doctor's Kohaku Garage
Ps. The most recommended are Classic Home Invasion and Back Alley.

THE FAULTS AND PUNITIONS (optional reading since we don't want to need it)

5.0 - If a player fakes high ping to avoid a match (or matches), he will be disqualified and banished from next year's competition. This measure is to avoid "strategic neutrals".

5.1 - If a player fakes the connection problem, he will be disqualified and banished from next year's competition. The same will happen if a player intentionally takes too long to play trying to get a neutral.

5.2 - If the game is intentionally closed in the middle of a match, the player who did it will be disqualified. Of course no one is guilty until proven otherwise. I really think we wont need this. This is merely a "just in case" rule.

5.3 - Using Neko-Arc or Neko-Arc Chaos will result in disqualification.

5.4 - Posting false match results for one's own advantage will result in disqualification and permanent banishment.

OTHER STUFF

6.0 - The delay 7 will be higher you'll have to face, so, in order to avoid getting your gameplay trampled by it, I suggest you playing a few matches with delay 9. I'm pretty sure this will help A LOT with delay 7 matches. You can always readjust it by playing normal matches after that.

6.1 - To save your replays automatically, open the folder where your game is installed and search for the file "caster_config.ini". Open the file and search (with Ctrl + F) for "autoSave = 0". Substitue the "0" for "1" so it will be "autoSave = 1". It will make so that all your fights produce replays. The replays are really small files, so don't worry about your HD getting full. Inside the same folder, there will be a folder named "Replays". The replays will all be there.

A. To watch a replay, go in "versus", then "replay". After that just select and watch.
B. To upload a file in mediafire, megaupload or so, select the replays you want (the folders), click with the right button and create a .rar or .zip file, after that all you have to do is upload.
C. If you are going to public the replay, first ask for the authorization of the player you've played with.

6.2 - Yeah, MBAC is outdated and playing online is not the hypest thing in the world. However, I think there's no way it'll not be fun. Actually, there never was a chance for everyone playing together. Also, with this anti-delay system (neutral system) I really think this event will be worth something.

6.3 - Do not use relay to connect, the reason is simple: everyone will be playing at same time and we don't want to lose time connecting with the wrong opponents.

THE PRIZES

1st: 30 Reais (about 17 Dollars, American or Canadian)
2nd: 10 Reais (about 6 Dollars, American or Canadian)

The registry is free, however, there will be prizes. It'll be coming out of my pocket. It's not much but again, I'm a professional student for now, better days of this championship will come. I confess I don't know how to send money away from the country, but I'll find it out if needed. I'll also give my msn adress to the winners, so they can inform where to deposit.

MBAC is dead... FACE IT.
Also, international Netplay is not a good idea when you have delay 10 to play with. LOL Good luck.

Also, someone should move this to the Netplay forum. Personally I can't even take this as a serious tourney w

As explained there is no need to play if the delay is higher then 7.

As explained too: yea, it's dead, and I don't intend to live it up. As explained it is suppose to be fun and provide some international competitivity with everyone playing together. Is there a problem playing an old game once in a life? Well, it's up to for each one to decide if there is. Everyone's invited.

I believe a lot of my matches will have high delay purely due to distance, but I'm just in it for the fun. Don't kill me if our speed isn't perfect.

Cecilia, it's ok. Ping will not be the problem because of the neutral system, but probably the number of neutrals you'll have will, but I'm sure you thinked of that before so it's ok. Even knowing that if you registered to participate and have fun, you're welcome. :)
