You're doing it wrong. Hamachi is free.

just use IRC :3
no thanks. The IRC is cluttered with people doing everything else than playing melty; chatting about their lives and how they love RTS games. I can't follow all that shit all day just so i won't miss that one guy asking for someone to play melty with.

With Hamachi i get a popup window when someone speaks, and people only speak when they want to play or ask questions about melty. This makes it very easy for me to do my daily stuff while still always knowing if someone is asking for a match.

You *could* just make IRC highlight you when people ask for games.

Including the millions of different ways people ask for games? It can be as little as pasting an IP followed by "anyone" which has the potential to get very annoying over time if you were to have your IRC client highlight it.

EDIT: General message to everyone who joins.
Don't expect to get any action by joining the server, typing "wanna play" in the general chat, then leave after 10 seconds of not getting a reply. Some people do this. Not all, but some.

The thing is; sometimes people look away from their computers, but if you give it a little time, you will get a reply.

THIS. People, please don't do this. You really are not ever going to get games within half a minute of joining a room. Be patient. Read CD's sig.

Well obviously you can't set the word "anyone" on highlight and expect it to not bother you too often but you can set phrases and stuff, I have like 10 different ways people ask for games and it works decently well. But that might not be good enough for others, whatever.

My server is still up and doing well. Supposedly, the people limit on Hamachi is 16, but I've had up to 36 and I've never tried waiting to see if i can get more. If a lot of people join and stay active due to MBAACC, i might discover the limit, but I've no way of actually knowing that without someone saying it's full.

If you find yourself unable to join my server, try joining Exart's server and give me a message there, or post here about it.

My server can hold an infinite number of people for some reason :V

My server: Melty Blood EU
Password: sugoisugoi

Exart's server: mbac_eu
Password: eu

IMPORTANT NOTE: Hamachi is completely useless now, as free networks have been limited to 5, yes, FIVE users. So just find an IRC channel. SERIOUSLY. STOP JOINING HAMACHI CHANNELS, IT'S POINTLESS!

We play MBAACC now. And if anyone feels like it we're still up for the older games too.

Please join only one, NOT all three. There's no point if every networks is filled with the same people.

The majority of the people in my networks are usually located in North America, but everyone is welcome.

And don't come in expecting everyone to be sitting there waiting for you to say something. People don't sit around waiting to be asked for matches, people DO things. So don't pop in, say hello, and leave when no one answers within the first 30 seconds.

I can hold 256 in mine though (no, I don't pay for it; I'm just lucky)

I won't mind at all if americans or whatever join my network. There's plenty of space and I've played just fine (relatively) with mexicans and canadians in the past. Just be a pal and have something like "[US- East]" or "[Mexico]" in your name if you're not European.

EDIT:
If you join the network and you're not getting matches, that's entirely your own fault.
Speak up in the general chat when you join or want matches.

I'm guessing that's the case.

For some reason, Exart's network says "subscription type: free" and holds a maximum of 8 people while mine says "subscription type: Multi-network" and holds a maximum of 256.

I have no idea how i acquired a Multi-network. Only thing i ever did on their website was registering the network to my e-mail address so i could manage it.

I made a server for US-East players to join, so I can hopefully start playing with people. :P

Network: Georgia MB
Password: meltedcheese

PLEASE only US players join this (preferably only US-East, but we might be able to work with US-West, too).

Oh! Another Georgia player. I usually hang around the same IRC svx does (though generally at different times, I work odd hours.) -- I'll try to hop in to your Hamachi some time soon to chat/play (Last time I installed hamachi it broke my sound card though!)

Y'all ought to just join my glorious 256 man room instead of being spread around various 5 limit servers.
Staying on IRC is also adviced.

I'm an IRC monster. Been on Mizuumi for like 2 years now give or take. I'll probably join your hamachi and his for the sake of community. Provided it doesn't mysteriously break my sound this time through.

A thread with East coast players? That I can possibly Play against?!?!?! That's Amazing
a Few problems though, What the Fluff is IRC? what is this name and password stuff?
Is there a different way than to just Forward ports and using IP's to play against someone on netplay that I just never knew about?!
Forgive my scrubby newbieness. There's no scene for Melty where I live, actually there's no scene for ANY fighting games other than Tekken where I live. It makes me sad :(

Kicked 107 inactive users.
Just in case anybody should wonder why they've been kicked.

Mine does. Speak up if you join, otherwise you're just another useless name on the list.

EDIT: Mine was finally downgraded to the 5 person limit so I'm abandoning it. Go to IRC.

(Argh, I have to retype this all because of that stupid Captcha!)

I'm just learning Melty Blood but wanted to play with some other people (besides my friend who's coming down to my office tomorrow after work so we can play multiplayer in person, which will be my first time playing anybody else). Since all the Hamachi servers seem to be full I created two of my own. I made two because I'm on different computers between home and office and could be at either.

Oh, and I'm playing Act Cadenza... I hope that's not too old for everyone?  :p

Server 2: Ciel eats curry!

Yes, I got the names and password off the guide, lol. I figured why not, since it's a public thing.  :3

Hamachi is dead because of reasons mentioned already in this thread. Join IRC if you want people to play with.

Aw... I picked up Hamachi because it seemed easy for beginners like myself, as the guide on Mirror Moon stated (probably an old guide, I know... I'm guessing before the 5 person limit). Are there any good guides kicking around on setting up IRC for Melty Blood, for somebody who hasn't used IRC before?
(update: I'm using Firefox so I downloaded the Chatzilla plugin.)
