After being gone for a month or so, I'm very eager to get some kind of competitive playing going on, and I mean before NEC. So why not hold a little Netplay tournament, eh? Anyone from the United States/Mexico/Canada region can join, so long as you can get
5 delay or lower with anyone from either coast. (Cases where delay is higher will be dealt with as they come.) A tournament bracket will be formed (and more than likely posted) by me. I encourage any and all Melty players with a decent internet connection to join. The combatant template and rules are below.
TemplateName: This is the nickname you will be known as during the tournament. This means you need to change whatever your mIRC nick is to this to avoid confusion.
Location: Where you are located.
Contact Information: An email address or IM address, please.
When?: 8:00 pm East Coast Time on Saturday, 11/8. Please join the designated channel by 7:30 pm so I may take a head count. (Date is subject to change.)
Where? #ECMB @ EFNet on mIRC. (Contact me if you do not have IRC)
Who? YOU!
Why? Just for sport, there is not prize that I can think of...
What? First Ranbat
Rules1. Any number of participants may join.
2. All matches are taken best 2/3, except for the Grand Final and Bracket Finals, which are best 3/5.
3. This tournament is double elimination.
4. You may change characters only if you lose a battle with one. (Under no circumstances may you win a battle, and then switch.)
5. After the first game is played, the losing player decides whether to play a rematch or switch.
6. No casuals while the tournament is going on, please. There is nothing more annoying than waiting for someone to finish casually playing when they're supposed to be playing an actual match.
7. All matches will be randomly decided.
8. This tournament is a
Ranbat. (Rules listed below)
Ranbat Rules
I would like to make this a monthly (perhaps bi-monthly) event, so I am going to keep a chart which keeps track of the points each participant retains in each Ranbat. Earning points is achieved simply by winning a set, and advancing in your bracket. (Normal battles award 1 point, winning a bracket final awards 3 points, and winning a Grand Final awards 5.) Your current Ranbat score will be updated each time you participate in a Ranbat tourney, and I will keep track of anyone who plays in a Ranbat ever. (If you join during the first, and then not play in it again until the fifth, I will still have you on my little database.) In this way, I hope to create a small netplay stats chart.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you'll sign up! If you have any questions, or want to be involved in running it, please contact me on AIM (sn is pablotacotea) or by email. (pablotacotea@aol.com) Thanks again!!
