When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?

MBCaster has been updated as of December 26th, 2007. If you are running an older version it is highly advised to update (http://mauve.sandwich.net/MBCaster.html).
Hey guys, I made this thing you can use to play online. It's still in testing stages, but it's relatively playable -- you can get the latest version from the MBCaster homepage on Melty Breadthe MBCaster homepage on sandwich.net (http://mauve.sandwich.net/MBCaster.html).
Disclaimer: 99.9% of the credit for this goes to the author of Caster (http://njm4558.run.buttobi.net/). I just took his really, really awesome netplay tool and made it work with MBAC. Not that it was trivial, but still.
FAQ:
1) Jesus christ! It exploded after game started!
A: Make sure you have the latest version (1.03a as of now)
2) How do I use keyboard controls?
A: Set inputDevice to 255 in config_caster.ini
3) ERROR : mbacPC start failed.
A: Put the MBCaster files in the same folder mbacPC.exe is in.
Relay Information by Bellreisa
Hello, I would like to announce that the relay that we use for IaMP and SWR Caster now supports MBCaster as well. A quick explanation: relay is option 7, which allows you both parties who are unable to directly connect to each other to initiate a connection via a third party and then tunnel through to each other. This is not like Hamachi, where data is sent through someone else; you are still ultimately directly connecting, but using a host to initate the connection.
To use the relay, first make sure neither side can host (if either side can it's easier to just use option 2). Both parties should select option 7, enter port 7500 UDP, and then this IP: 209.237.242.30 208.83.220.135, which is the server where the relay is hosted. You should see the prompts "Now waiting for introduction" and "now waiting for response", and it will connect as normal if successful. If you time out with the relay then you may need to resort to Hamachi or figure out how to port forward properly. In order to facilitate spectating, MB Caster will print out the IP and port that you are connected on for you to copy and paste to other people once you are connected. Hope this helps.

If you're wondering where to get your IP address from, you can use a website like whatismyip.org (http://whatismyip.org) or ipchicken.com (http://ipchicken.com), or download the Gateway IP Monitor (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/gatewayip.html) from Netikus.

Me and Psy tried this out, we'd time out when the match started. I also noticed that I'd time out on pretty much all of my other net stuff. I usually see this happen with stuff that uses a ton of bandwidth, maybe there's some issue here that doesn't agree with our routers?

Neat-perfect 60fps with karp good stuff man.
Glad to know his raping in MBR was the old one's fault.

good stuff tropsy + for you!

Having trouble to get caster to work :'(
It says "Error : mbacPCpath set failed" and "Waiting for Debug event"
I tried reinstalling it and patching it to 1.03 again and it failed.
I am not using any shortcuts and the mbcaster files are in program files>EcoleSoftware>MBACWIN

Great job Trospy! It works pretty good! The only problem I noticed is that certain people's game crash after picking a stage.
-
Me and a couple of other people have this problem.. after connecting, and picking characters, the game always crashes before the stage loads up, with error msg ERROR : TIMEOUT <AWAY>. Anyone have any solutions?

You did what I couldn't start (frankly, I didn't really want to learn the source code... =/ )
But good for you. You have become a landmark in meltyblood history.
I will try this tomorrow. Or the day after.

This is god. Very good netcode, thanks mate ^^

Please, someone save us =| Tried everything. Lowest visual settings, muted sound, different port access, relay access, you name it.

I got 60fps with someone from sweden with fs4. Keep in mind i'm in minnesota. incredible.
if you're going us vs us, don't go any higher than 3.

Just posting to say that this is what the MBAC community needs.
It won't quite replace same-computer 1v1 but it's a damn good practicing tool nonetheless.

Anyone who knows any way to bind custom keyboard keys for the netplay? The one used for MBR(That also worked for normal MBAC) does not work when using netplay.

It's not supported yet. Future versions will allow customizing them in the .ini.

what about sick support? i noticed that when using the netplay patch my stick suddenly doesnt work anymore ... it doesnt seem to allow the game to get the POV inputs ; ;. butttt dude very good job XD

getting the same on my main Vista box. Tried various different makeshift fixes with no luck. Works perfectly fine on my laptop and other machine , both xp pro.
Tropsy = Legend btw for all the hard work put into this :-*
-
Did you guys extract all the files into the folder with the MBAC EXE?
-
The client doesn't work as well as Caster for IaMP, but I think that's mainly due to the nature of the games involved.
Tropsy is a TOP CODER for getting this working, and as fast as he did. Now if he only played half as good... :V

Not to sound like a complete idiot here, but just how does this thing work? I have no idea what options I and my friend are supposed to press to actually get a match going, anything we ever do timeout and we don't even know if we're doing it right.
Any kind of instruction would help.

NOTE: THIS LINK IS SPECIFICALLY FOR IAMP, NOT MELTY BLOOD
For instructions go here: http://iamp.mizuumi.net/index.php/Netplay
But the general low down is if you want to play, you'll need one hoster and one person who'll connect to the hoster.
The person who hosts will press 1 then enter. The person whos going to join that game needs to press 2 then enter. After pressing 2, type in the hoster's ip and press enter again to connect. One of you will get a message that says to enter the delay rate. Depending on how far you guys are, press any number between 1-6. The link above has a nice chart for what the delays are reccomended for.
Hope that wasn't too confusing >_>
-
Anyone else that's getting problems with a Vista machine? :-\
Game boots fine in single player but when we try to connect (one Vista machine and one XP) it won't work properly. More elaborate; if the Vista machine hosts the XP connects fine but the Vista can't chose frame data and just freezes. If the XP hosts the Vista machine's netplay program crashes as he connects.
If the Vista machine tries to run 9 (Debug) it'll show
Error: mbacpc setpath failed
Error: wait for debug event

Nope, that's fine, thanks for the link too, we finally know what we're doing. Only problem now is that when we try to connect we get the Error CharInit() Failed. It happens to us both when we try to use the debug mode and I just reinstalled MBAC with fresh settings, patched to 1.03 Still getting the error in debug.
I guess it's hopeless.
-
you're both using keyboard setting (255) in the ini, right?
-
Alright, another friend is trying to host and he's not behind a router. He's updated to 1.03 and extracted the files to the game's folder. So all he has to do is give me his ip to connect to him right? Well it just so happens after I connect to his ip and we pick a delay, the game starts up and then closes itself due to some error (I think it's an initialization error). Any solutions?
-
For all of the PPL who are having issues w/ getting the app to locate your exe note that the files MUST be extracted in the same directory as your EXE !!! ... Hopefully later on you can execute the netplay patch meanwhile it is not located in the MBACPC dir.
-
Umm is there any way to run the game in Full Screen mode?? When I run in window mode I get low FPS cuz my comp is shit.
To the Dev -- Could you plz allow us to fully customize the options provided from the original exe aka) 16&32 bit colors, screen mode, and texture format in one of your future releases. This will help a lot :D

Exact same problem, and yes, I am running a Vista machine. Only solution I can think of is dual booting to XP (which I am having problems with at the moment)

I'm pretty sure you can change those options before starting netplay. Then when you connect your game will have those options on

I think that you can change the screen mode by setting it to zero ... just looked at the ini more in depth now. But thats all I see in terms of options.
Erum I was wondering ... Whats with the title screen mod w/ Happy B Day Len?? -- Is there a way to remove it?

The sprite art is there to commemorate her b-day. It will be gone tomorrow or of you're too impatient, just change the date on your computer.

would it be possible to add some solution to make it able to reg both keyboard input and joystick?
Anyhow, sometimes I get some kind of bug that makes a beep every time you press a button while in the game. Selecting mIRC and then MBAC again fixes it so it's not really a problem but got any clue of what causes it?
-
So, I have all the Caster files extracted to where MBAC.exe is.
Yet, I still get MBacPCpath set failed Wait for Debug error
lolwut :slowpoke:
-
Great stuff. Was able to play with a friend of mine in Europe with no problems. Like a few other people, I'm also having problems when trying to run it under Windows Vista, however my WinXP partition works fine.
As a side note, a keyboard using friend of mine wanted to know if it would be possible to allow people to remap the A+B and A+B+C combo keys.
-
I was doing some testing with different things on my PC's trying to get my stick to work without joy2key(no luck but joy2key works much better on this than MBR probably something to do with the interpiter) anyways i noticed that it was lagging a bit the inputs on client PC had allmsot a 1 second delay and the host pc had a slight delay, what i did to fix this was changed the priority level to above average priority on the host PC and this fixed the problem the lagg(most of it) is gone now(i was using 1 delay or whatever for all my testing). you should know that when i did the same to the client PC it caused more lagg. I think this needs to be tested i only have one dual core system which was the host PC so theres is a possibility that since the client was a single core it just lagged more than helped this might fix some lagg issues some may have. . . i think

Can't seem to get rid of this error no matter what I do in config_caster and redownloads.
Btw, awesome effort. I've heard great things about this netplay from my friend and I look forward to getting it to work.

Should be the right directory, I put it into Ecole Software/MBACWIN/, but I doubt that's the problem anyway.

All people having random crashes, pathset errors or start errors not caused by mbcaster being in the wrong folder, try the latest version. It should fix most (all?) of them.

You sir are a champion. Program is alive and kicking running on Vista.

We can revive this board!
Seriously though, maybe we should just put caster code to ALL DOUJIN FIGHTING GAMES in existence.
It'd probably be better than anything official too.

I can hardly wait till kb config support ... I'm getting carpel tunnel playing w/ default kb controls. All I ask is that u also provide us w/ a few macro keys such as ABC and AD etc. if u dont mind plz :D

It's already in. Just replace the various key lines in caster_config.ini with lines from keycodes.txt. Macro keys in there are Q and AD.
EDIT: Damn, beaten by mere seconds.

new version is working perfect...did a few hours stress testing beetween UK and IRE, not one desync or slowdown :p I've been hearing even cross continent stuff is pretty managable

I keep getting CharInit( ) failed for the debug so I can't get it to work. I extracted everything to the folder that mbac.exe is in too.

set your controller, for some reason MBAC doesnt recognize it ... usualy if your using a pad or converter or whatever its going to be " 0 " and 255 is for if you are using keyboard or using say a stick that uses keyboard commands or soemthing like joy2key.
EDIT: I meant test your controler in MBAC and see fi its working then in the caster config file set it to either 0 or 255 depending on whatever type of controler it is
-
Problem: After extracting the files into the correct folder, the MBcaster and the folders containing the data refuse to open. My computer says that I lack permission but that can't be right. Help is much appreciated.

Was this released on the same day as Len's Birthday :O?
Someone probably said this before, I fail at searching.
Edit: Damn people beat me to it :(.

Yes we do have SWR caster but not BBB

BBB has netplay?

Pretty awesome, the netplay works like a charm.
Just an issue with the FPS being screwy - if I'm playing against a neighbour, how much should the value of the delay be?

1 or 2 should be fine unless they have a really bad connection.

Nice! Thanks Tropsy! *hugs*
I'll just save this up unless I get out of 56k connection...>.>

Just tried it with a friend, works flawlessly. No sudden crashes or anything and very smooth. Only the loading screen tends to lag abit sometimes but the match itself is running at full fps. Kudos to Tropsy and the caster author!

The loading screen lags because it's waiting on the other player to finish loading, if you load everything first.
You can see the same behavior in IaMP.

Fusion ha?
-
Anyone tried testing this w/ the new 1.03A patch?
Also I was wondering if it is possible to run the game in Full Screen Mode. I set windowmode = 0 but that didnt do it :psyduck:
Note: that I am only using the debug mode at the moment (which doesn't initiate full screen mode) I havint tried online play yet.
As a request, I noticed that your app fixes the bg type to normal (found in MB:AC options, not the window executed prior to the game), is it possible to make an option to be able to set the bg to simple mode in the cfg file?
-
For some reason I don't see the Len birthday.
-
Len's pic only showed yesterday :D
-
Tried it today, and works great ^^. But I think I found a bug. I picked Neco Chaos, and after the loading my game froze >:(. I later found out that the person I was playing with had not unlocked him.
It's quite minor, as I doubt many people play Neco Chaos, but still a bug nonetheless and should be fixed.

Yes I am.

version of windows your running??
as far as i noticed i couldnt do netplay of all sorts till i upgraded to xp. i was using windows 2000
also you got the latest version of netplay??
-
XP and yes.
-
General rule is don't patch an official version of a game if an unofficial program that works with the game isn't up to date along with the patch to support it. =x
-
Nothing works for me, I've tried them all with both 1.03 and 1.03a
-
You might want to rerun the NoCD patch to fix the issue. When I use netplay it had a DVD problem till I ran the NOCD patch.
www.tsukuru.info/(NoCD Patch) AlphaROM 3.x .000 rev2.exe
(Copy and paste EXACTLY)

Trying to play with 1.03 patch installed, and the newest netplay. It's not patch a, i clean installed it, ran the nocd patch and 1.03 patch and everything. Debug mode has mbac show up on the taskbar, but never boots the game up. When trying to do netplay, after typing in the buffer it does the same thing for me and friend. It just does not boot the game up. Any idea?

This is the exact problem I'm having, but happens regardless of version. If you figure anything out. please let me know. I'll do the same.

maybe we have to wait for new version or something =/ anyone have any idea what might be causing this problem? There are NO error messages whatsoever throughout this process.
heres whats in my mbacwin folder if that helps =/
-
Recommended order is to run the 1.03 patch FIRST, then the NOCD patch.
That's all I got.
Otherwise, make sure you go into caster_config and turn vista compatibility on if you need to (change 0 to 1 in line that says Vista(something) = 0)
-
did that, no luck.
-
you copied the source files instead ?
-
hmmm i have the same prob
running on vista
got the latest version of mbcaster (september 10th)
copied the config_caster.ini, info.ini, and mbcaster.exe files into the MBACWIN folder, went to ecole's website and updated to 1.03a
double click the main MBAC app and make sure controls are ok, set it to windowed just to be sure, then exit that config window
start up mbcaster and press 9 to go into debug menu (like the readme says to) says the port ip address is the 127.0.0.1 (which is loopback)
then MBACWIN starts on the taskbar and it says mbacPC.exe has stopped working (vista's generic "program needs to close" message) and the game closes before even showing anything
caster stays working, however, and doesnt freeze (just refreshes its main menu)
-
went to ecole's website and updated to 1.03a
Taken from the OP:
The latest version was released September 10th, 2007, for MB:AC ver.B version 1.03. There is currently no application that works with 1.03a; an update is forthcoming.
-
theres a new version of the patch now that supports 1.03a upgrade to that.
-
Then I don't know what to tell ya. All the steps he posted are right in line with what needs to be done.

ah, when i updated MBAC to 103a the first time it must not have went through correctly...
when running in windowed mode it only said 1.03 and at the time i thought maybe it just didnt put the a at the end
but i re-applied the melty blood 103a patch, and it now says 1.03A in the windowed mode's title bar...
tried out mbcaster and it works!
so that's my advice....make sure your MBACWIN's windowed mode shows 1.03A in the title bar, and of course make sure you have the latest version of caster (look at the changelog and see if its up to Sept. 10ths version)
thanks guys :D
so how do you get this to work with hamachi? i have hamachi already set up and have tried REact netplay a while back so i have the groundwork...
-
you would just use the hamachi IP's instead when joining the game also there is a sept 11th version of MBCaster which mainly has support for 1.03a not sure what else is changed/fixed.
-
The update probably didn't work correctly because MBCaster was open when you applied the patch. MBCaster binds mbacPC.exe, so it doesn't get updated.
-
does anyone have that wiki that gave suggested delays for ms times?

......No need to use Hamachi with the relay function. :slowpoke:

Actually, relay isn't perfect. My friend and I tried to connect, and we ended up connecting to different people. =/
Maybe I'm using the relay wrong.

Hey, I'd like to know if it would be possible to get A+B and A+B+C combo keys added in the keyboard config. I guess not many people use them but I noticed someone else requested them earlier in this thread, and I miss them from MBR.
Awesome job by the way, I was really excited when I heard someone was going to use caster's code to make a MBAC netplay prog. Also, any plans for 2v2 stuff? (sorry if this has already been brought up...)

I think 4 player Netplay would be horrible like reaaalllly far beyond bad like wanting to play MBR netplay 1v1 on dialup bad . . .
-
1v1 tag team i'd like...
-
I don't think a 2v2 tag team would be worse than it already is, though. Although you'd be spectator for half the match..=/

# Keyboard inputs. Check keycodes.txt for appropiate numbers.
kLeft=0xCB
kRight=0xCD
kUp=0xC8
kDown=0xD0
kA=0x1E
kB=0x1F
kC=0x20
kD=0x12

kAD=0x11 -> This is A+D.
No idea about A+B though

A+B, A+B+C keyboard shortcuts would be technically trivial to add, but they aren't in standard MBAC and I'm sticking to the official format. Many people hate shortcuts, so I'm not taking a stance either way.
About 2vs2, no, it won't happen. Not because it wouldn't be playable, assuming decent pings on all sides, but because it would require massive modifications to the network protocol, which I am most definitely not going to do for a "joke" mode. Tag mode may be implemented in the future.

A+B is actually still used among even some of the top players. Veteru, for example, uses A+B. A+D and A+B+C are irrelevant with the addition of the Q button though, since it works as both heat and throw.
Anyways, I request that A+B be added, since I heavily use it for easier IADs and such.

A+B shortcut doesn't exist on keyboard. (If I'm mistaken, then by all means do tell me, but I couldn't find it and others confirmed it wasn't there) Hence no top players use A+B on keyboard, because, well, it isn't there. All shortcuts still work normally on pad, as long as they aren't disabled in the controls configuration window. Is it "unfair" that keyboard players don't get some shortcuts? Maybe, but that's for Ecole to decide, not me.
-
i dont think top players shouldnt even use the shortcuts, cuz that isn't how the arcade setup is like.
-
Some ppl use kb so they need the macro keys
-
I keyboard crusha, but I don't use the macros at all. I just use J (quick action)

Tropsy ... You are a GOD!! ... Full screen mode now works for me in the 11b patch. However, when I press keys I get beeping noises :( ... This use to happen when I wasn't in full screen mode and what I did to fix it was just click on the caster dos window and then click on the mb window and that fixed the issue. I suspect that XP believes that the game is running in the backround and thus the beeping noises occur ... or something like that :psyduck: ... Is it feasible to fix this issue which has been present since the alpha version?

lol, my bad. I forgot that you were talking strictly for keyboard shortcuts. Disregard my commentary. =>

NICE PROGRAM!!!
You've done a really great job!
By the way, I found that the source code is included with the release.
Can I make a GUI tool with it?

I am not hating on Veteru, but he isn't a top player. He's pretty damn good mind you.
And honestly with the implimentation of a quick action button you guys shouldn't be mapping anything else.
ALSO STOP PLAYING ON KEYBOARD.
The day you enter an offline tournament you'll be sorry.
Learn pad or stick already.
-
Actually Chibs, Vet got 2nd at Evo. So, Lolisauce's statement is actually qualified.
-
Ok, keep looking at the world in black and white Tom.
I still think Leo should have gotten first, but that's just me.
-
A win is a win is a win, Chibi. Play to win, or you'll lose the drive to be the best and instead settle for your current status.
-
Arlieth ... A game should be played to have fun ... not to win ... but winning is fun ;D ... Damit now I'm confused :psyduck:

My friend cannot seem to use the d-pad on his Xbox360 controller, but it's usable offline.
Any suggestions~nyo?
Thanks in advance~nyo.

Caster only reads directional input from the X/Y axis of the assigned pad, whereas MBAC itself reads from both the X/Y axis and the POV hat. The D-pads on X360 pads and sticks are seen as a POV hat. This is a known issue with the DirectInput support and will be addressed in a future release.

Arlieth ... A game should be played to have fun ... not to win ... but winning is fun ;D ... Damit now I'm confused :psyduck:
Playing to win and playing for fun are NOT mutually exclusive, almost all people that play to win (save for sellout 'pro' gamers) have a blast playing their games.
Thinking in black and white is only going to ruin your perception on things.
-
I play to have fun and WIN while doing it! :toot:
-
Seriously, that's part of my point. The stereotype that people that play to win don't have fun irritates me to no end, because it's for the most part not true.
-

Temporary fix until something better can be cooked up: Have him try using the third party XBCD360 drivers - they'll allow him to configure the controller so that Windows sees the digital pad input as X/Y axis input, though the XBOX360 headset won't function while those drivers are in use.
As a side note for keyboard users who want to use the combination keys - You might try looking for a program called PPJoy which can be used to create virtual gamepads/joysticks. It comes bundled with a program called PPJoyKey, which can be used to pass keyboard input to a virtual gamepad created by PPJoy. I did a brief test a few days ago, and was able to trick MBAC into thinking that my keyboard input was a genuine gamepad, though a friend of mine has had some issues getting it to work for him. It's an extremely messy work around, though - but something to consider if you really can't live without the combination keys and/or your keyboard doesn't much care for multiple inputs at the same time - which is an entirely valid concern, if you ask me.
-
Thank you for all the answers~nyo.^^

I Used the mbcaster and played on my LAN and it worked well. The only problem i had was i used my X-box controller to play and it did not accept the D-pad and i had to use analog stick. Other than that it was good.
-
MBAC has no problem recognizing my dpad on my 360 controller. Also, I still cannot get mbcaster to work. I'm fairly certain that it is an issue with my system. Is there anything aside from gameguard that is known to make mbcaster crash? I'm having the same issue with efz.
-

They're talking about it not working when MBCaster is active, not when they're just playing single player.

i have a problem in my caster i can't get any host here in the philippines.
how can i play outside the philippines using caster
and where will i put the ip address?

DEAR TROPSY
i have a little problem my patch is not working ..
i have the lastest version of MBAC osea 1.03a ... and my patch is the 07/09/12b

why is this . .. can u help me .... thx
-
well I am other to leecher like cazz jeje But I have the same problem the patch is closed after initiating and the debug is equal and this is fukingme jaja please good helpme
-
Maybe we should start charging money every time people ask us to fix their netplay without any information or error codes. :slowpoke:
-
@Tropsy
Any chance on cleaning up the source code/commenting on important stuff in the code? I think it'd be great for future software development on the program and would entice would be coders (read: me) to help out in the development. I guess I could start by translating the Japanese comments in case there's a need.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
-
is just that the netaplay patch says nothing
just close up ,,, nothing happens
-
so then the netplay is not active at all......
ill experiment on it a little more
by the way how can i use a caster for lan play?
-

You type in the internal IP address of the other computer on the lan. To find out what it is, go to the start menu and hit run and type "cmd" then "ipconfig."
-
by the way how can i use a caster for lan play?
The person connecting will need I.P. of the person they are connection to, they will use option 3.
The person accepting the connection will use option 1.
When i did it i just connected at the same time and it worked well (minus the D-pad not working).
P.S. firewalls must be turned off or set to allow mbcaster.

Is there any way to get MBCaster to recognize the D pad? Shitty analog on PS2 pad is killing me. If I just have to wait for the next patch, then so be it.

For PS2 pads i think it depends on your converter, With my conveter if i turn off analog mode the depad will work but if i turn it on the stick will work.

Care to tell me the name of the converter you use?
Edit nvm I've found a couple on ebay.

I use Gamemon. Got it at Wal-mart for $10 works with Gamecube, PS2, Xbox and it has 2 hubs (USB).

I use a radioshack converter. I probably was alittle vague i see that there is a point where i could be sligly mistaken, i meant that turning on/off the analog on the controler not the converter(just incase thats how it was interpited)

My converter won't allow me to turn off the analog for some reason. I'm going to look around at more local stores for converters. Best Buy, Circuit City, and Gamestop didn't have any. For some reason my pc controller works when i turn off the analog, but the d-pad on it is terrible. If all else fails, I'll just purchase another PC controller. I'm getting a custom arcade stick made now and should have it in 3 weeks. I cannot fkn WAIT. Thanks for the help.

I just thought I'd drop in and let you guys know: I have found a Workaround for the D-Pad issue: JoyToKey.
http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm (http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm)
Open JoyToKey and map your attack buttons, then click on the 'Others' sidetab, and check the Use POV box. Go back to the Joypads tab and configure the POV to match your keyboard controls for movement. Make sure that Caster is configured to use the Keyboard, and just have JoyToKey running as you play.
Also, this allows you to put multiple buttons on a key, so it IS possible to make an A=B=C key, even though Caster doesn't have it built in yet ^^
-
OK so I got everything for the caster to work, but when I actually am in the caster the button configs are diffrent. I mean all the buttons are and working its just that they are not mapped the same in the single player program. Any Help would be much appreciated.
Peace...
-
i prefer xpadder
mainly cause it emulates all the buttons on your controller, i remember having some troubles with joy2key on 360 controller i think.
but w/e eliminates input lag more i guess is better
and for the problem, are you using kb or pad/stix
if pad/stix then check to see if you configed the buttons correctly
-
a'course, I lack me a 360, so yeah ^^; use what have you, that same idea should hold true regardless of what program you use to pull it off.
-
well i need to ask here is there anyone here who play's melty blood from the philippines im guessing that kurumster is one of them...
i can't play across that philippines ping is always at bad state so i can't challenge anyone from the US
anyone here from the philippines

Next thing I'm hoping for: Practice mode w/ a friend :D
Yeah for a while ther was like 1 a day sometimes even 2.
Im hoping for some game play options.
Tag team, team, customizable game settings, instead of jumping to a match.
-
T_T i well im hoping for the tag battles i wish it will be implemented.
-
Agreed. I'd love to see Tag Battles, Team Battles, and Multi-Practice Mode.
-
hi im new in this forum, but no new in melty blood, i play melty blood in net act cadenza my e- mail is
saint-adn@hotmail.com
from matches in melty blood act cadenza xD
-
Someone should update the top of this thing. I was having MAD desync issues with EVERYBODY and then I turned stage backgrounds to "simple" and it fixed EVERYTHING. Haven't had a desync since. Note that this has nothing to do with the processing power of your computer. Complex backgrounds just interfere with caster for some reason. Maybe it will be fixed sooner or later.
-
The program is really amazing ;D
However, I have a problem: I have 3in1 MagicJoyBox (playing with GC controller), and the thing is my joystick is used, so I can't get it to directions by 100%.
Is there a way to modify the sensibility required for the joystick?
For example, in the game itself, the sensibility is NOT at 100%, so I can play with it with no problem. mbCaster is the one I can't get working. (Directions up-right-left are all right; down is not all right xD, and there isn't any "calibrate" function in its joystick menu)
Thanks nevertheless
-
Can please someone help me with that :/? I read through the whole thread
but didn't find any solution. Well, i have opened ports , everything works,
but my friend can't connect. Her mbacPC.exe opens normally, and the game works fine,
it doesn't open in debug-9-mode with mbcaster, though. Any idea, why that happens?
We already seemed to connect through relay, but while the game opened on my side it didn't on hers. It seems to load something but closes down immidiately.
Thanks in advance
-
sounds like you don't have the right files in the right places
-
Uh afaik, all the files are in the right folder. Unpacked all mbcaster-files into the folder with the mbacpc.exe, including the files of mbcaster's subfolders
-
mbcaster subfolders??
just place the .exe files in there there shouldnt be any folders
also if that doesnt work then did she patch the game up to 1.03a
if you dont know where, start>program files>MeltyBlood ActCadenza>Official HP
-
Yeah she patched to 1.03a :|
And about the subfolders, er... i downloaded mbcaster-beta-070912.rar
and in it, there are 2 folders, exe, in which the exe and the .ini-files are in, and src, in which alot of txt-files are in :/,
we unpacked those txt-files into the folder with the mbacpc.exe in as well
-
The files in the exe folder should be placed in your MBAC folder. That is all. Did you read the readme?
-
did that of course, what about the src folder then? still doesn't work xD , guess can't help it
-
The src folder is simply the source code to the program. 99% of the people who use MBcaster will not need this folder. The contents of the exe folder is all you need.
Also Dakanya, do I see Notepad++ in the background of that screenshot? You have good taste.
-
Hey is there a way to decrease the chances of desyncin' with the person. I suspect that it has something to do with just Internet connection strength, but i'm not so sure.
-
It is Notepad++ (:
To decrease the chances of a desync, enable your macros (A+B, A+B+C, A+D), set your background setting to Simple, and make sure you both have Neco Arc Chaos unlocked.
-
Also, as a note, from what I've gathered, enabling macros means UNCHECKING the boxes next to them, as counter-intuitive as it may seem.
Also, maybe some desync issues have the same roots as ones in IaMP caster: FPU differences. Two people playing against each other using CPUs that handle floating point operations in different ways may generate desyncs with certain moves. Just throwing it out there.

-Step by step to netplay using mbcaster

Two questions
-Can some one show me what the config_caster.ini should look like for using keyboard controls
-Step by step to netplay using mbcaster
-Here's the only line that needs to be changed.
[INPUT]
inputDevice=255
# Your pad number (starting from 0 for the first pad) or 255 for keyboard.
-Open mbcaster, have it in the right folder and all, get someone to play with. Preferably, have both of you be on the same Hamachi network. If you're going to host, enter in "1" without the "s, then hit the enter key. The other person needs to input "2" minus the "s and then enter in your Hamachi IP, which should be plain to see once you have Hamachi going. Then once they do that, one of you needs to punch in the buffer margin and you're all set.
-
I'm getting the charinit error when I run mbcaster, I HAVE configured caster to keyboard(255 right?) but it still isn't working.D+
-
Thanks for helping me for the keyboard problem
-
Waffles, I may be giving some unneeded noob help, but I made this mistake... So perhaps u did the same.
When configuring caster to keyboard 255, did you leave a space between the equal sign and the number? XDD I didn't do that at first and it didn't work out for me... If I'm being a retard though, just slap me or something.
-
LOL You're right I did leave a space! Thanks! It works Now XD

Ok. First I would host the match by pressing 1 then Enter. After my friend would press 2 then Enter. Then he would input my ip then press enter. After that he gets a RecvFrom and we can't connect. I'd really appreciate the help.
-
Do you have the same version or MBAC/MBCaster?
And have you both unlocked/not unlocked, neco arc chaos?
Are your settings set correctly in the config file?
Are you trying to play on Vista.
Are you trying to play on a LAN or on the Internet?
-
Hi guys,
My friend is having this problem with his port.
The IP belongs to the relay on the first page of this thread.
He also got Timeout while trying option 7. Is hamachi the only way to go?
Any suggestions?

Oh shit, I know this problem quite well. It's a bitch to fix, and it really requires a bit of research depending on the equipment you have, so the below may or may not work.
The solution to this problem is...
Forwarding your ports. I think there is a universal way to fix this... It took me an hour to figure this out, as I had the same problem but let me give it a shot in helping you out.
Go to your Network folder somewhere hidden in your comp, not sure exactly where it is, but look for it. (I have Vista btw, so unno where it is in other Operating Systems)
If you're using a router, it should be listed there in that folder. Click it, and wait as it loads...
Unno about you, but with my router, it opens up a window in Firefox for me with, and its like a personal site for my router. It also asks for a password and username to use the router. If you haven't put some personal thing on it, the username's probably just admin, and password's nothing.
From there, there should be a tab or something, (in my case "Advanced") which gives you options on how to forward a port for LAN stuff like MBAC and XBC for Halo.
Name your port, it really doesn't matter what it is, it's for you to know its use.
Afterwards, it asks for your private IP, that is something you'll have to research yourself. Private IP is something different from your normal IP, and is more like the IP of the private network you have set up at home. You have to use command prompt or something to figure it out yourself. I'm not sure quite how myself, since my friend found it out for me before, but if you get stuck here, I'll ask my friend to help out. Note that this is the hardest part of the opening port thing, if everything else works smoothly.
Pick protocol type to UDP, and Private and Public port should have 7500 typed in.
There should be an enable option availiable, make sure that's coloured in. If there's a schedule option, pick always. Afterwards, click an ok, or accept, or whatever you have on that screen.
When you've done this, go to MBCaster and press 8, put in your private IP and Port 7500, and it'll test to see if ur port really is opened.
Yea, I think you would be bound to have problems, so post back on anything that doesn't work.
-
lol wow didnt know vista had a direct link to your router
anyways its the same if you were to log in with a web browser
as for all the other problems MBcaster will only work on WinXP/Vista (i had 2000 before and i only upgraded because MBCaster wasnt working)
as for the timeout error, has he port forwarded yet and also he should at least try to debug to see if it even works. also making sure he patched to 1.03a and have the latest MBCaster(tropsy hasnt updated in like 2 months now)
-
Tropsy, are you at liberty to reveal your compiler for the source code? Or is it confidential?
-
@NinjaNero: Me and my friend are trying to use the relay for some netplay. We have tried ports 7500 and 51001 but both dont work for him. I'm working fine, but he's the one who cant connect. (I have netplayed many times already but i have no knowledge with port forwarding so i can't help him)
@KidPhantom: I'll get him to see this and make him try it out.
@Twinniss: His debug works, he also got the latest version of MBACverB and MBCaster. He's also running on XP

r u playing on a LAN or on the internet?

To get your private IP you can do either start->run->cmd->ipconfig. for windows 98 it's command instead of cmd.
or
right click on your network connection in the system tray or the network connections folder (if you don't have that easily accessible, there should be a link there from my network places), then click status and then the support tab. It's listed under IP address.

I unno, I'm actually quite sure he needs to forward his ports properly is all. It's complicated to do, but once he's got it, everything should be fine.

well, my friend has given up on trying...sad, i thought i would get another partner to spar with but now....T.T
i think it's his port forwarding problem coz he's still able to download stuff.

Not nessesarily, notice the limited or no connectivity.

You have first hand experience with this type of error? IIRC you wouldn't be able to properly access the internet with that type of error.
-
I have. It expresses a range of stupidity from not being able to hit your DHCP to having an invalid IP. If you're able to access the net while you have it, you're a damn miracle worker, but it's possible.

And i run the net work at Greene County Career Center with another person.
It happens when you get network running at 100mbps(or 1gbps depending on how strong your network is) and you get internet, but very slow internet Im talking 10mbps down to like 6k.

YOu don't need net play for two people you can go to team and set you as the same team and play the com. if you wanted to play with more than two people then netplay (or a 4 player patch) would be nessary.
But i agree one would be nice.

Tropsy has already stated that team mode is not of interest for him to code. Tag battle has been considered, but I don't believe that code will be forthcoming very soon.

What about this guy (is this even a person) Warya if they made an "addon" for tropsys mbcaster can he/she make one for tag play/team play?

We have no information on who, what or what isotope this Waryas is. Their only note of existence is a line that often winds up nearly deleted on Wikipedia.

It seems to load something but closes down immediately.
Thanks in advance
Well, i know this is extremely late but unless i missed something no one else gave an answer that fixed the problem. I had the same problem when i was trying to use a pad with the input for config_caster set to 255. if thats your problem open config_caster and change the value to 0. Do the opposite if your trying to use keyboard and the value is set to 0.
Also, do you have MBAC v 1.03a and when you open mbacpc.exe to the little menu where you can select full screen or small screen and set your pads up does it say 1.03a at the top. When i patched to 1.03a i had to manually copy and paste in a couple of the files and press yes when it asked if i wanted to overwrite them. i think they were from the file folder in MBAC Ver 1.03a patch.
Well, hopefully that is of some help. good luck.

My friend keeps getting the error
"make sure mbcaster is in the same folder as mbacpc.exe"
This is what his folder looks like. I don't see a problem.

EDIT: fixed, friend's anti-virus was being lame.

However, it is useful for customizing your key layout on netplay.

why relay is not working? it always time out....but that just happened recently, at least for me.

How to you configure a Logitech wireless joypad to Netplay?
-
How to you configure a Logitech wireless joypad to Netplay?
in the config_caster.ini file if you want to use analog stick or Xpadder if you want to use dpad
-
um no, you only goto the config_caster.ini file if you want to change it so it works on keyboard or if it works on joypads
anyways just open up the game normally, and there will be pad1 button in pad config
config your joypad there.
If you cant move during netplay thats when you break out the Xpadder, change the config to keyboard, and map all the buttons on your joypad to a key on the keyboard
-
Just had my first experience with this. Played a game through the relay that was too laggy, but on a direct connection it was perfect!!! Show me where to dump the money for future versions plz ;)
-
Ok me and my friend keep getting the error timeout (away) or whatever, where the game will start up and go to VS and then sit there and close after a second. I've been able to play with someone else fine, so any idea what causes this problem / how to fix it?
-
Sorry for the huge chain of questions, but, am I doing it wrong? Is everything in the right place? Is there supposed to be some kind of indication when the program is running correctly? I just open MBcaster.exe, then open mbacPC.exe, right?
Edit: Thanks, I actually thought the Readme file that was in that folder was the japanese Readme for some reason. Thanks for the help irregardless, I got it working.
-
Move all the stuff in the exe folder to the main folder.
Problem solved.

there's a readme ffs

I'm running win XP with the MB and MBcaster updated, but for some reason whenever I netplay, It goes uptill the character select screen fine then the game just dissapears and MBcaster goes back to the main menu.
I tried disabling the double keys, unlocked neco arc, tried reinstalling, hosting or joining another game, but the exact same thing happens everytime. Does anyone have an idea, or have a similar problem?

did you patched it to version 1.3A?

I was trying this for the first time today and we ran into some problems. I believe it may have originated on my end. When ever we tried to connect to each other nothing would happen. I am not very good with networking things so I really have no idea what might be the problem. When he would try to connect to me his would say targeting then stop. When I try to connect to him it just goes straight back to the menu. Now when I tested my port it said that UDP 7500 recieved no signal. So I went to my control panel and added that port to the firewall. It still says the same thing. Any suggestions?

If you have a router, you're gonna have to open the port on it too.
However Hamachi prevents the need for all this if you're lazy.
-
So, (correct me if I am wrong), if you connect to a hamachi server, then all of the people within the server can access without setting their router up to accept the port (because they are all on the same server)? The only thing hamachi does is this one thing? Or is there more to it that I am missing.

Yeah. Basically, that's all Hamachi's used for in mbcaster.
Because Hamachi kinda sets up a fake LAN. Over the internet.
Which can be useful.

Sorry for bumping this old thread if it's dead, but I've recently downloaded MBAC, and 1.03, but it refuses to work. (I also have Vista)

Thanks for any help ahead of time, I hope I can get this to work so I can play some people over Hamachi!

IIRC there's some Vista variable in the config_caster.ini... try switching to "1" or on.. or whatever it is

i'm using dualshock2 with some usb converter. included drivers are no better than simple winxp driver and do not have profiler.
can't use pad movement buttons in netplay(it's ok with the single play), only analog stick.
UPD: i have just tested mbcaster with some usb gamepad and direction buttons won't work as well.
WHOOPS. Fixed with Xpadder =)

To get MBCaster to work on Vista:
Start by going to your desktop shortcut of MB and MBCaster (or the actual .exe files, either or). Right click on the file, go to properties, then go to the compatability tab. From there, click on the "Run this program in Compatability mode", then select Windows XP Service Pack 2. With this, its set up to run it via Windows XP. You may or may not also need to check the box at the bottom of the tab page for "Run as Administator". I have both of them clicked on, but I'm not too sure you really need them. Having Administator on, just means you hafta click "Allow" when the program is running.
By using the Compatability mode, you'll be able to use MBCaster on Vista without a problem. If you still are having problems, then make sure your patches are up to date, as I didn't do that and spent an extra 24-48 hours 'cause I forgot about it. There you have it. A wonderfully easy way to get MBCaster to work on Vista.

Ok, ive been trying to get the d-pad on this damn ps2 controller to work for about 2 hours now. i am using the gamnon universal usb converter and i even tryed downloading xpadder to see if it would get them to work on net play.....it dident. really, im just tired of trying to solo this so if anyone can please for the love of god help me get the damned d-pad to work some how on netplay i would be gratfull.... Greetings! Just recently downloaded, and properly installed the program. Everything that was in the .exe folder is in the root directory of my MBAC folder, double checked, triple checked, it can't be the problem. Everytime I start up, it gives me some line about version info and what not. but then below it..
Command Version: 144
Debug: Bind error
And just closes, instantly. I didn't hit 9 to debug, I don't get a chance to hit anything, happens within a second. Any idea on the problem? Using keyboard, set the inputDevice to 255, windows XP SP2, will tell ya anything else ya need to know.

you said you installed caster right did you update your Mbac to 1.03 or you could have an outdated caster
-
Bind error means that the port is in use by another application.
- You already have another Caster running.
- You have another application chewing up port 7500.UDP somewhere.
These are the only two possibilities for this case, so either close stuff out or edit config_caster.ini and change myPort to another value.

What about ERROR: Timeout (Root) when trying to spectate a match? Is it because the match had been going on for like 700+ seconds so I'm unable to view it?
-
What about ERROR: Timeout (Root) when trying to spectate a match? Is it because the match had been going on for like 700+ seconds so I'm unable to view it?
Some people's routers fail it and you can't connect. Has absolutely nothing to do with the game itself.
Additionally, when there's more than one spectator around, you're actually spectating through one of the other people watching, not the original hosts. So if they have router issues or are blocking stuff, then you're pretty much screwed.
One of the reasons I have Get Information report the remote address is so that you can try to spectate the _other_ guy playing, which gets around that.

I have a quick question. Is it possible just to use the address used for the game IaMP (mizuumi.net)? Since it is the same kind of client I wasn't sure if it would work. I have everything else working. I am just wondering if that would work because I honestly would remember that over the few IP I have going between houses.

HeroKing, what are you trying to do using option 4?
1 for hosting
2 for connecting into ip
3 for spectating
4 for error
just type the right option and you're good to go
