Thanks Mauve!  Yay, now I can actually sift through dozens of replays effectively.

So has anyone had any problems with this version yet?

I've had one(1) singular person complain about desyncs being made worse to me, but so far that's pretty much it except for the keyboard input thing which has been around for apparently a pretty long time.
: Re: MBCaster 08/04/24 out.
: Jen April 26, 2008, 02:44:06 AM
Well, after returning to character select once inputs stopped working and I had to escape key out.  Haven't tried to replicate it yet, though.
: Re: MBCaster 08/04/24 out.
: mauve April 26, 2008, 12:09:11 PM
Yes, the input bug with regard to keyboards is known about and I'm looking into it, but I don't guarantee anything since it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

: Danielsan April 27, 2008, 07:22:27 PM
That's infinitely better than putting IPs into the replay naming, thanks.

Had a minor bug earlier. I started off hosting a game with a player with the name of KeresPup. Later I had another game with another player, lhw but the player name in MBCaster concentenated, leaving bits of the previous player's nick behind the current player's. You'll see what I mean in the screenshot.

Other than that, everything's been good. Keep up with the good work, mauve.

I'll look into it but there's no pressing reason for an update release anytime soon so it'll probably just get put on the list should I ever do another one.

Had a similar problem when porting that in from CowCaster, but thought I fixed all of those problems... Did you get it on the day of release or something? 'Cause I patched over that within a few hours heh.

: HoTsHoT May 31, 2008, 10:50:13 PM
I've used your latest MBCaster since release, and I did not notice such problems till yesterday. This might had happened a long time before, I might not have noticed it earlier.

oy mauve, i'm getting a bizarre error after the delay is set.  it says "ERROR : processThID" and MBAC doesn't open...help?

i caught a virus last night if that's of any relevance.  ainti-virus promptly took care of it though.

That error happens if it encounters a debugging breakpoint in a thread other than the main program thread.

Which means somethin's piggybacking on top of MBAC and it's not Caster. So yeah, probably related.

Maybe you guys should stop using the playerSide feature, since that's what screws it up.

Like hell I'm leaving crucial elements such as delay and STAGE SELECTION in the hands of ignorant fools.

nope, we dont have that feature enabled but still manage to get the same sequence in stage selection (warc, len, koha [maybe satsuki]). This applies to broadcast mode too (zaelar and myself tested at last gaming event).
: Re: MBCaster 08/04/24 out.
: mauve June 11, 2008, 12:13:24 PM
Unless something is severely messed up with the RNG, which I'm pretty sure I tested, it should work fine over the internet. I'll check again.... eventually. Low priority shit here. I didn't really touch that part of the code, where it syncs the RNGs of the two systems so that random grants the same stage to both players. (It's leftover cruft from SWRCaster, where it was a mistake to begin with to use that particular value as an RNG seed, but it never got fixed, and fixing it up from there would require protocol changes that I didn't care enough to do, because I'm stupid like that.)

Now Broadcast/Debug is another story. myRand is initialized during GetPlayerSide, which is only called during actual network connections, and GetRand, which is only called when spectating. However, it is always zero for Broadcast and Debug.

Are the replays supposed to save with the player names?  Mine don't do that right now, they just have the date/time.

You have to configure them to do so. See ReplayFilenameFormat in config_caster.ini, the format of the replay filenames can be customized.

  • Should now work in Linux/Wine, but there are some bugs.
wwwwwwwwwwww
This (http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/7844/failnp3.jpg) is mbcaster under wine. Note that the horrible framerate isn't due to Melty Blood itself; it normally runs just fine. It isn't caused by excessive CPU usage either, as either of my cores peaked at about 5% usage. I'm going to try to fix it myself, but it seemed like a good idea to bitch and whine in here too.
: Re: MBCaster 08/04/24 out.
: mauve June 30, 2008, 01:58:10 AM
Timing error of some sort. MBAC just does millisecond sleep statements. I'm not sure why that would cause problems when done inside Caster. I'll look into it I suppose.

Wine 1.1 broke some shit for me IaMPside so I'm currently cursing the ground the Wine developers walk on anyhow.

if you guys want to do it I really don't care.

most of it's still linked from the wiki and the files themselves aren't going anywhere (for now).
