When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?
-
Okay... so I've been reading around on the places where Melty Blood players go to get a few games going, and the most common place I see listed are the various IRC channels... but this presents a small problem... IRC happens to be THE most firewalled chat service out there and is the only one I know of that actually requires freed up ports to work properly.
I was wondering if there's anywhere else that a lot of Melty Blood players gather online that's more accessible to people behind a firewalled network. I'm still rather new to the game (only been playing a month) so I really wanna see how I do against people significantly better than myself for the fun of it... but I can't find them cause of the pesky firewall... =u.u=;;
If anyone knows of an IRC client that can actually connect properly on a prioritized network, I'd use that... otherwise... I dunno what to do. XD The only other good chatting service I know of is xFire, just have someone on your friendlist invite you to the room and you're set.
I'm really interested in getting to play with others... I'll be on a network that I have control over for about 3 weeks starting December 18th so I'll at least be able to try to play during that period, but once I go back to this current network it'd be nice to still be able to play with everyone.

You can use web-based IRC clients such as CGI:IRC.
-
*looks at the CGI:IRC homepage... head spins* Ehehe... that looks like something a bit out of my league in terms of getting it installed, set up, and functional... It also apparently doesn't work with Windows, but the FAQ says that people have reported getting it to work with Windows... although it didn't say how. It looks too complicated for me at the moment and I wouldn't even know where to start to get it to work...
I appreciate the suggestion though Daka, thanks.

Look for a website that already has it installed and provides its use as a free service.
ie the following results from a google query
http://ircatwork.com
http://webchat.xs4all.nl/
http://www.axenhammer.com/cgi-bin/cgiirc/irc.cgi
http://irc.codehaus.org/irc.cgi

I... never even thought of that... =o.o=;; My saviour!! XD Thank you very much, Daka-san. =n.n= Now I'll be able to get my behind kicked around in unimaginable ways... XD (Whenever the relay's back up that is.)
I just connected using the first website link, it works perfectly! Thanks a million~

I know this is an old ass topic, but, hmm, well, since it is relevant to the topic - other places for online gathering...
Does anyone think a Melty Bread Ventrillo or Teamspeak would be feasible?
-
That would be an interesting idea, Necroposter (lol). I'm personally in favour of vent.
-
Well, I could consider getting a ventrillo. Depends how much interest there is in it.
-
Semi-Necromancing, but GO FOR IT. I play on TS[ghetto ventrilo] with what few people I can, and we usually have a blast doing it. Plus it's just alot easier to talk and crap; so yeah.
-
I thought about this last year so I made a public vent server for MB. People stop coming there though, but you are welcome to use it.

Thanks, I'm sure me and what few MB scrubs are left will appreciate this. [Even though I'm migrating to MBAA very soon]
