Buy and MOD or ground up?
« on: February 28, 2011, 04:05:58 PM »
Ive been taking an interest in fight sticks recently...
As a broke college student, I was wondering which method I should go by, should I somehow stumble across enough money to buy one.
What would be more cost effective, if at all...?

I was thinking of buying a used stick and modding it from there but...cmon, a used stick?

Cost effective?  Buy and mod.

A 360 TE can very easily be dualmodded with a TEasy Strike http://shoryuken.com/f177/official-teasy-thread-teasy-strike-here-234867/
Or a ChimpSMD

And the parts are easily replaceable, but likely won't even need it.

I like the TEasy...no soldering.
Thanx bro, ill look into it.

I've decided to buy an Arcade Pro 3 and just PS2 mod it later, thisll make it easy.

TEasy does not worth with RAPs, just a heads up.

I am not sure if the RAPs are even common ground anymore.

Srsly? :(
Damn...idk Im particularly attached to the LOOK of the HRAP3.
So if I wanna use the TEasy ill have to go with something else.
Or solder it.

Is the RAP you're looking at PS3 or 360?  A 360 RAP can still be fairly easily dual modded with a ChimpSMD.  What level of skill do you have in this sort of thing?

Its for PS3.
And Im fairly experienced, if modding a joystick is anything like modding a PC.
Well, if you can call building/switching parts modding.
Although i don't like screwing with wires too much, Ive done it before...

http://www.ozhadou.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=51794#51794 This is a decent overview of what's needed for a RAP to dual mod.
