Dark's Souls's's's
« on: August 16, 2011, 08:36:22 PM »
Is anybody else here picking up Dark Souls? I am a huge huge huge Demon's Souls fan and am totally picking this up. (preordering the game nets you the fairly snappy looking collector's edition)

Also, this dub of the newest trailer is hilarious.

I don't plan on it for several reasons:

1: I don't own the system
2: I'm not particularly fond of the genre.

Seen Demon Souls before... not really a fan of these kinda games. Only play fighting games and RPG's with good character development.

I plan on getting it, it's the game I'm looking forward to the most (of the games that have an official release date).

It's a console game, so no.
The only exception to this rule will be Metal Gear: Rising.

there's a new batch of screenshots today! get hype to play a class that comes naked out of the box.

I don't plan on it for several reasons:

1: I don't own the system
2: I'm not particularly fond of the genre.
... what genre is that? game plays like an arcade game with rpg elements. at least, i play it that way. it's like the new generation of dungeons and dragons: shadows over mystara. or something.

(also it's both ps3 and 360 this time.)

Yeah, I know what it would play like. From what I gather it's the exploration/RPG genre, I'm not saying it's bad but that I can only stomach it either with scifi or a higher magical content so I don't get bored from seeing bland rooms over and over.

And no, I don't own either.

I'm more drawn to the wanderer and his freakin' awesome cloak. Still, Deprived/Hobo army is tempting.

ahahaha

I had a dex build char (dual uchigatanas, yum) so I needed one. After some reading and planning I went in with low-luck, pure black world tendency, no large sword of searching. This is because luck actually fucks up your chances of getting one.

Took about an hour and a half of grinding that one black skeleton.

..Worst part is, I still need a second one at some point for the other katana (it's a Moon+5 right now, and does less damage) but I can't be bothered to do it.

Only play fighting games and RPG's with good character development.

Is it fair to guess that you only play japanese rpgs and not something like, say, planescape torment?

Also I will probably be getting this on 360 since I think that what most of my friends will get it on. I hope the coop is a lot better in this one, since even doing coop in the last game felt like single player and you couldn't legitimately progress via coop, it only progressed the living player

Anyone who doesn't buy Dark Souls is getting banned. (lie)

If you haven't played Demon's Souls and have a PS3, you really should. It's only $20 new on Amazon now.

googled planescape torment...   :V
....Even if it is a decent game, I refuse to play any RPG that could easily be named "Wizards and Goblins" and people not give it a second thought.  I did see that the game is very well accepted though, so I'm sure it's good. Just not something that I personally find interesting.

Anyways, it really doesn't matter to me what kind of RPG I play, as long as the game gives me a reason to spend 70+ hours with the characters I'm playing as.... Like, I can't just be running into dungeons without knowing a backstory or something to make me care about what I'm doing in the game. Otherwise, it feels like I'm just doing whatever for the sake of doing whatever.

At first I thought you were talking about Dark Souls, to which I said "What?"
And then I realized you were talking about fucking PLANESCAPE TORMENT, and I realized you had no clue what you were talking about period.

Come on you guys... you know there's some Wizardry, Orks, Elves and Goblins in this game. Don't mess with me.

Seriously speaking though, I'm sure the game is great. But I can't relate to you guys on this one.

Dark Souls is on both, yeah. And the collector's edition costs the exact same amount as the standard edition, so you might as well grab the cool bonus stuff while you're at it.

If you ACTUALLY play RPGs for character development then yes Planescape Torment is fucking good on that part. The setting is also pretty nonstandard (Don't assume it's typical just because it's DnD).

Demons Souls had a garbage story but the gameplay was fun and the atmosphere was good, which I'll take over story anyways. Fuck goddamn motherfucking son of a bitch crystal geckos though and fuck the obscure alignment system.
Yo let's talk about sewckiheemay character development together
