EVO 2012
« on: December 30, 2011, 09:41:04 AM »
So Evo games will be announced 1/3/12

I assume 5 spots since it worked out super well last EVO. I'm betting:

1: SF4 2012
2: UMvC3
3: Tekken 6 SFxTK
4: Soul Caliber 5
-----                      ------ The above 4 are kind of in the duh category provided they are all 2/1.5 months before EVO... but for the last one:
?: MK9

If there is another game... it would probably be BB or Tekken 6.
Vote? Haha, not making that mistake again, might get a game people actually like in again!

And yes I am looking for an ongoing discussion about how to make EVO better/What to expect this year.

I like KoFXIII's chances but looking at everything else.... It may not have a chance (I may, and hopefully am wrong though).
I didn't think of Skull girls... I wonder what would happen to it. If EVO was 6 games it would probably be in over BB, especially with all this recent BB3 talk.

My guess is KOF 13. The game seems to be gaining a lot of popularity lately, while Tekken 6 and MK9 are slowly dying off. Also, publishers supporting tournaments is always a good thing. IIRC, Atlus supported the KOF 13 tournament at SCR in some fashion. Namco does this too but they're promoting their new games (SC5 and TTT2), while NetherRealm seems to be done with MK9.

As for Blazblue, I have no clue. I never have paid much attention to that game.

Nobody remembers the promotional shit from last year about that UFC game or whatever?  If they partner up that means free money for Evo expenses, so guess what's going to probably end up an official Evo game?  At least that's the kind of talk I was hearing from certain unnamed lower staff members last year.  Whether it actually ends up happening or not, I have no idea.  (hopefully not)

I expect kof13 up in the ranks though.

Street Fighter X Tekken? Interesting.
KoF XIII? Even more interesting.

Thats pretty cool, the KoF bros finally get their time in the sun. I hope a lot of people show up for it and it's not just Bala ballin' over everyone.

Now, gonna change the subject. 20$ for entry for games?

EVO now is a casual event. You should have noticed it before.

It's a good chance for other championships though, since EVO signed their death sentence with serious and not sponsored players.

Hi, it seems like you guys have a disillusioned view of Evolution. Evo is a tournament that is now sponsored by game companies to keep it getting bigger to accommodate all the new people joining in on the scene. A game that has promotions/sponsors does not directly connect it to being a game within Evo, but it has a higher chance as long as it has a community backing. Choices are also influenced on staff's preferences. First and foremost you need a community that has the full backing. Despite Melty actually surprising Evo staff, it does not have the numbers to pull to be in Evo. That is the reason why Blazblue was thrown out this year.

Also the Cannons did state that they wanted to turn Evolution (rather the B series) into a convention, kind of like the E3 conventions (you have to remember B3 was the same year as E3, and E3 wasn't a steaming pile of shit back then) a long time ago, and I still assume they still want that now because of its direction.

Also I called the games that were gunna be in it 2 months ago. Too easy.
what the fuck is this game

The people in charge of evo have no idea what they're doing as far as the tournament part goes.
