There's no reason to not learn already established worthwhile combos. Otherwise its like buying SF4 now, going to training mode, then going on SRK to let everyone know that Ryu can DP FADC Ultra.
That's not to say you shouldn't try and find anything new, but if you learn what combos people have already found out then it'll give you a better idea what to look for in making different combos.

Oh yeah, since there's a lot of FFT fans here, anyone play FFT 1.3? That shit is pretty tough, nice change of pace though if you get bored of breaking FFT every time you replay it. I started it up awhile ago and they have some really nice balance changes.

I had an old SRK back in like 2005 and forgot what it was, then I made another one in 2008. Never posted on either of them, but I already voted the day the poll came out. Outside gameplay/character threads too much of SRK spends their time shitting on each other.
8WayRun being able to make accounts specifically for voting is complete bullshit and opens the floodgates on letting other forums do the same or not. Honestly if this does end up getting SCIV the win expect rioting from all sides.

This translates to "Does it annoy scrubs? nerf it!" "Does it give an advantage to people with a working brain? nerf it!" (1.10 came out today and seems to basically continue this theme, from all I'm hearing.)
Well I guess they pretty much succeeded considering how much all the IaMP players shit on it. When I think about it, the only people I know who play SWR are just touhou fans rather than fighting game fans.
Gen: Mizuumi wiki has info on both SWR and IaMP so you might as well start there regardless of which one you decide to play.

I don't really care for any of the games in the series but IaMP is just better designed as a fighting game. SWR and its expansion seem like more of a for shits and giggles fighter like Brawl, that or to just get your Touhou fap on.
Except I'm not a Touhou fan so I just don't really play it regardless.

Shield was never on an SF3 level even in MBAC, and pretty much everyone has found it to be nerfed in MBAA, so you won't really have to worry about that.

I can read both ways easily enough, but yeah numpad notation can be applied universally, its just whether or not a community chooses to use it. It's definitely becoming more and more common though.
