Yes we will be hosting an outside mb/gg tourney with bbq on the side this upcoming Friday. We will have an outside stand while Magz, Sims and I cook chicken and ribs. Sims will be the one with the blood-stained apron doing god knows what.

Where? The benches near the student union in SJSU.
When? Sign-ups are from 10am.
How do I enter? Just buy a chicken leg. (comes with a free old-fashion potato salad made by dev) Every 5 dollars you spend, 1 dollar will be donated to the national adopt-a-magz foundation.
What if I don't want to play the game and just want to hang out and be gay? It's ok Mizuki, you can come too.

Come and say hi, if you hear the Sousei no Aquarion theme, you are near the place because we will bumping that shit all day. PLEASE COME AND SUPPORT OUR SCENE, WE ARE TRYING TO FILL A 32MAN BRACKET.

j
Brilliant.

BTW, GJ Sims.

I did a whole lot of those.

Chombo is gay. :( We'll play online and there will be no chance of that.  :slowpoke:

Hey, let me in on a game or two sometime.
Get on IRC or AIM and I can PM you the lobby.

Edit: Andrew just might have taken your spot. This is what happens when you don't use conventional chat methods >_>

Edit 2: Quickly, SARS had to go get food. We need a 4th.

Singles Replays - Download

Yeah, I forgot the login to the meltybread replay ftp and am too lazy to go look it up.

As usual, the replays are sorted by the computer they were played on in the order they were played in.
Just dump all the folders in the rar archive into your C:\Program Files\EcoleSoftware\MBACWIN\Replay folder, boot up mbacPC.exe, Versus Mode -> Replay, and enjoy.
(Results may vary because it's far too hard to save right after the last replay saved. Rather, it's far more efficient to save out of order with gaps in between...          No, not really, that's retarded. This shit aint rocket science.)

Some replays were not saved. The only one that might cause some confusion is in the C00 set between buzzsaw and ZeroXOZ. buzzsaw won the first match which was not saved.

Videos might come if I can salvage the commentary somehow...

Kohaku's Video Room / Re: Slightly Higher Quality Youtube Videos
« on: March 24, 2008, 04:01:13 PM »
Now if only they threw in Nicovideo's ability to allow viewers to spam comments across the screen. That'll be fun and chaotic at the same time.
I want to watch the video without such dumb subtitles, honestly. That's what the comments below are supposed to be for. Legit subs of course are always welcome, but still.

On a completely different tangent, I was watching the normal version of the link above (lol low quality), and I noticed that Sataya was able to do an EX-Katto with only 50% meter. Did he just super buff it during the combo or something? :psyduck: :mystery:
You can turn the comments off on nico and it probably wouldn't be too hard to have an option to have them permanently disabled for those that don't like them if youtube wanted to implement it. Hell, there's probably an option to turn them off always on nico as well but I can't read that shit.

As for the EX-Katto with only 50%... Sataya was playing Aoko... >_>

Meh it still seems a bit iffy to me, if you get it accidentally it's way too easy to drop the combo completely and you end up in the corner to boot.  I'm sure fans of crazy gimmicks would disagree though  =P
I agree. Crazy gimmicks are for the birds.

It's the reverse 214B off of 5[C] thing (where 214B puts them behind you); too unsafe/unreliable imo
Ah, that's actually completely reliable and useful for a reset opportunity though. Because you basically have a guaranteed combo off of 214b 5b 5c launch etc.

That kind of situation would more likely confuse your opponent. Depending on who you are up against, whether or not they have a tendency to mash plays a significant role in how you should handle this situation.

If your opponent has a tendency to mash buttons, a delayed 5b should net you a counter-hit reset. However, if you are playing against someone who tends to block more, an overhead right now would be the most appropriate way to ensure a reset. If they start to see it coming, 2C is also a viable and fairly safe option even on block.

Of course, this all assumes you know that it's coming. If you don't see it, or you're not sure if it's going to happen, your best bet would be to do a 5b hit confirm into combo depending on which side they end up in.

Can you explain it? I'm having trouble downloading that megaupload. It says the file is temporarily unavailable.

They're pretty damn damaging, I would expect it to be part of any Akiha's arsenal really.

:P
It's not as easy as it seems -.-" The execution requirement is rather obscene.

T06 - tenkai vs. sync
Our best 2v2 tournament match IIRC.

85
i should have bet money on mahjong as well, its yet another game magz can't beat me at  :V
IIRC, you had the least amount of points after the session early this morning since you miscalled that ron...

87
Ray: Hey, haven't seen you in a while. I'll play your Dizzy next time for sure.

We have the best MB commentary in the entire world for the last 3 MB singles matches. This will be epic.

In case anyone tries to get into the bowling area and realizes that the SU is closed, you need to enter through the amphitheater entrances (the entrance down a flight of stairs closest to the 10th street parking garage).

Shh...

...Don't tell anyone, but I saw Sims at Fun Stuff Cards Comic & Collectibles in San Jose competing in a Pokemon card tournament...

...He had his hair oiled and slicked back and was wearing an extra large, dirty, white shirt with Kanji printed on it, over sized cargo pants and large oval prescription sunglasses...

...Horrified I couldn't look away à la the Ludovico technique, so I stayed and watched, shocked as he placed first in the tourney, beating a ten year old girl and then he turned around and used the money to buy inuyasha plushies...

MY KANJI SAID AKUMA AND ME AND MIROKU-SAMA ARE FINALLY TOGETHER YOU BAKA =^_^=

tournament will be held at bowling alley.
You couldn't get the room?

90
I can't speak for everyone in NorCal but I know a lot of us are going to be attending Fanime this weekend. Missing two WTs in a row is going to suck.

Since the SU will be closed on the 22nd, we will probably be using one of the rooms at the dorms. Check this thread for updates this week.

As for the team tournament, how much should the entry fee be? I'm thinking somewhere between $3-$5 per person is good along with a pot distribution of 80/20.

Sims should post up some details about how the GG tournament is going to be run if it is even going to be run.

First to ten is fucking retarded.

Man the fuck up and do that shit first to five for several hundred dollars, stop trying to cushion that shit.
I'll have to agree with Chibi here. FT10 is just way too much. With a theoretical max of 19 matches it becomes a test of endurance rather than a test of skill. If you are even remotely confident in yourself, FT3 should be sufficient. If you don't have confidence, don't play.

i buffer 623 immediately after i press b. the only problem of this is that i don't really check to see that my 5b activated or not, and its kinda hard to stop yourself from pressing the c
Once you've played her for long enough, you will get it down in muscle memory.

94
Hey AJ, stop being so emo and get yourself unbanned already...
I'm trying my best to get unbanned, really. Not being able to post is a rather big hit for me.

Sims: Mahjong tomorrow, get hype.

P.S: Anyone have a mahjong set?

Actually, Veteru has some really weird char-specific setup for getting into loop off of a 623B without 2C which is mainly useful off of held shield 623B into the corner. I seem to have forgotten the setup, but it's there if you want to go ask him.

For all characters that can be hit by 5b after 623B/236B you should aim for hitting 623C as soon as you input that 5B. Make sure you don't input the 5b until 623B ends or else you'll end up with a 623C on a ground person A.K.A free combo for your opponent.

97
I didn't really get anything done today in terms of academics and procrastinated so I'll only be there on Wednesday probably.
Likewise, I'll be pretending to know what the hell I'm doing in terms of painting all today.

Then I thoroughly suck, 'cause I whipped out my gamepad to try it out right now and I could only do one 623B > 2C. ;_;
It all depends on who you're doing the loop on. Try it on Warakia first or maybe Ciel. They seem to be some of the easiest for me.

Nanaya or Aoko might be harder I think along with some of the other characters.

*Sigh*
I am back again, I know I have asked alot of questions but here is another. What are your options after 623b with Nanaya? I can't seem to figure out the loop into 623c.

You know...I wish there was a list or something. It would be the most useful thing to Sacchin players ever.
5b 623c works just fine. Maybe the timing is a little more strict for him but I have not noticed.

It's impossible to loop the QCF+A/B/C followed with a Down+C like he did. Did they change that part?
I was not aware that it was possible to loop QCF+A/B/C to begin with. Are you sure you're not talking about 623B 2C? Because that's the standard loop that V. Akiha is capable of and it's practically essential to her game damage-wise. Check the other thread LordKnight made for information about executing it.
