Akiha's Tea Room / Re: No one cares about the Wiki?

There's just not that many active players with the knowledge to write in-depth guides on the wiki for their characters. If you're just looking for lists of combos, see the character forums. If you're looking for frame data, there's a topic for that somewhere. If you feel like contributing, compile some of this info on the wiki pages that need it.

I contributed my limited knowledge on a few chars, but with a roster this large (and 3 moons each), there's a lot of work that can be done.

Worked alright against some people. With others it crashes often. Managed to play a few games on 1 delay with a friend who lives in the same country, but it desynced at the end. As a stick player, the controls were flawless, but some people who use keyboard complain about directional movement not being registered properly.

Thanks for your work on this, and I hope you'll continue to improve it and fix the bugs. Source would be cool too.

I dunno how much shipping to Europe would be, but I'd be interested in Negima 4-19 and Hellsing vol 1. So get me a estimate on that and we might do business :)

Tournament Results / Re: Rautanyrkki - Finland 2012 results for Melty

Fun tourney. Yeah, I am totally free against Nero. Whatever, it was the first real tournament I attended, nerves got to me to make it worse.

I'm sure the same goes for other players. This game doesn't get featured in tourneys nearly as much as it does in the US  :nyoro:

You want to hire a programmer to write a netplay client? No offense, but it's more than likely going to be just as bad or worse than the default solution. Actual skilled programmers / hackers won't spend their time on this for a few hundred dollars, or even a couple thousand considering the work that has to be put in. Mauve went the extra mile with Caster because he did it out of love for the game (I made this up, go read his blog or something). A hired coder isn't going to add rollbacks or some shit.

The thing Caster had going for it was it's feature to adapt well to delay changes. Apart from that, take off the nostalgia goggles, because it had plenty of lag at times when someone had a shitty connection. This is the case with all fighting games on netplay, and cannot be solved with a better client.

Ecole's netplay solution works just fine as long as both players have a stable connection. Contrary to popular belief, a ping fluctuating from 50 to 80 is not stable. Honestly, the only time I ever lag nowadays is when I play with someone outside of Europe, or if one of the two sides is having connection issues. Besides that I always get 1 to 3 delay, and perfectly playable games. If you're having trouble netplaying with the CC client, spend the money on a better ISP or move to another country.

Since Ecole still has the whole MelTV thing going on it seems to me they've not intended to stop supporting the franchise. Maybe a console or Steam release is more likely than you think.

This happened while i was playing my friend today. He turned into a mini-Aoko, which was hilarious to watch while he was jumping around and pressing buttons, and i would often turn into distorted chubby Aoko.

I only managed to get a 2:08 minute video of 1-fps sprite flickering from fraps.

This is what you get for messing around with hex editors in your executable!

So what do you guys do when the enemy disrespects your pit and attempts to jump out? Obviously they get hit, but it launches them up so far I can't get a combo in. Best I can do is hit an air normal or two, but additional hits from the pillar (when I ignited with 22[C]) prevent me from running the standard aircombo into j[C].

Ciel's Tech Support / Re: MBAACC tools generic / Ping & Delay
« on: March 01, 2012, 11:26:57 PM »
The latter, as you cannot get 0 delay in netplay, even with a ping below 10.

9
1000$ if they remove Nero from the game.

10
worse was when i found the recv function... is this game really using tcp? holy shit, that is unfixable.

It only uses tcp at the start of the connection and exchanges 2 * 8 bytes every second for whatever reason (the same data every time so probably a check to see if both sides are still there). The netplay uses udp packets with an order number every frame.

I figured this out with a packet capture on the demo, doubt they changed it.

A little something I put together yesterday. A couple of decent airthrow followups with F-koha.

Relevant because airthrow combos are new, I suppose.

To elaborate on the raw airthrow combos: they're all much easier to do if you do a j.a whiff right after the airthrow. You will land faster and closer to the opponent this way.

I was experimenting today with the different options, and decided to compile my findings into a little video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp3z2lhde5w

Here's the followups I think are pretty useful:

meterless
anywhere: AT j.a (whiff) land dash 5c j.bc j.abc AT - 40.9% - 3033 dmg

anywhere: AT j.a (whiff) land 2[c] 236a - 19.8% - 2178 dmg + okizeme

corner or low airthrow: AT j.a (whiff) land 5{c} j.bc j.bc AT - 41.4% - 3093 dmg

low airthrow: AT airdash j.C land 2b j.bc j.abc AT - 45.4% - 3113 dmg

100 meter
anywhere: AT j.a (whiff) land 5{C} j.bc j.bc 236c AT - 41.4% - 3421 dmg

MAX
anywhere: AT j.a (whiff) land 2[c] 236a IH 2c 236a AD - 3547 dmg + circuit break

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: The MB:AA:CC:PC thread: Trial where!?
« on: December 19, 2011, 03:13:14 AM »
Did that, and I still get lag. D:

Made the options this way...

And I still get lag. <.<

Bro you might wanna put frame rate back to normal. I don't know what the 1 / 2 option does, but if I had to guess it tries to run it at 30.

16
You only "need" Hamachi if neither of you have their port forwarded (and thus can't host). It kinda works like relay did for MBAC. Anyway, don't use Hamachi, just take 5 minutes to learn how to forward your port.

Mech-Hisui / CC 1.07 F-Mech changes
« on: October 30, 2011, 02:26:19 PM »
Sadly I don't have access to Current Code yet, but I've been curious about what changes they made to F-Mech from console MBAA.

There's some stuff noted in the Current Code Changes thread, but those were for the vanilla version, and may or may not have made their way into 1.07.

From what I can tell from watching videos:

- Her damage has gotten a nerf but far from as much as most of the other characters. Space heater damage took a big hit, though.
- She got J2C, the flamethrower thing. Situational, but a nice addition nonetheless.
- She can now OTG relaunch after 623C (possibly other moves?)
Demonstrated here and here.
- Like every other character, she can combo off raw airthrows (which I consider a good thing for F-Mech, as her anti-air options are limited).

If anyone has additions, do post about it.

I think everyone complaining about how ass the emulation is should give it a second look. PS2 emulation has come a long way since 2 years ago when MBAA first hit the console market (and so have our computers). While execution is indeed slightly harder due to the added ~1 frame of input delay, I don't believe there's a bug with active/recovery frames.

The netplay only randomly desynchs if ping is unstable. I've played over 50 match sessions at 2 delay without issues.
That said, I believe French Bread will be able to write Caster-quality netplay. It's not that hard, and these guys don't have to hack their own game to implement it. I'm more worried about it being unavailable in the west. Inb4 their master auth server blocks all non-JP connections.

19
Well, I've tested with Hamachi and it works like a charm. Almost. Is there any way to set the delay?

Not in the current build, no. The guy is still working on it.

20
IRC is just a chat client, so no. Hamachi isn't required either, but the one hosting needs to have his port opened/forwarded (just like with MBAC). I suppose you could use Hamachi and host through there, but I don't really know how Hamachi works so I can't tell you.

21
For those who could get it to work, how much latency were you facing? When I tried it, I got a black screen for the longest time and my tester and I deduced that this netplay wasn't suitable for high latency... or is it?

Would playing this at 30-40ms latency be possible?

That would give you 2 (maybe even 1?) delay, which is very playable. 4 delay and above are really bad, but honestly, this PS2 netplay is a lot better than I'd imagined.
Also, if you're hosting, someone has to connect within 1-2 mins or it won't work.
Also, after every session (waiting for someone to connect, playing together, or getting an error), restart the emulator completely. It's still a work in progress thing.

EU, those spanish speaking countries (sorry, forgot where you guys are all from), and whoever else (singapore, etc.) need to step up and start posting up and representing their scenes. I know you guys have live recorded tourney footage hiding around somewhere.

Unfortunately, the biggest MBAA tourneys we've had in Europe were streamed but never actually recorded (nor grabbed off the stream while it was still available).
Irysa posted UK vids, I'll dig up some mainland footage. Most of this is really old stuff, and the level is play isn't very high. But hey, we play the game, and some of us are quite passionate about it, and really looking forward to AACC.

German matchvids:

Germany poverty training session:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOCkQRpWqZI (note the legendary keyboard stick)

Finals of the VanDammage tourney in Vienna:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCUgyj5sbvA

More to follow if I find anything cool.

These are just a couple highlight vids. Could post a lot more bad match recordings, but I don't really have anything hype like commentated matches or random community stuff.
Good luck guys! I'm not expecting a localized EU or US release of MBAACC, but anything that will increase the game's popularity in the west is a plus.

Was wondering if there's any other Dutch / German / Belgium / etc. players out there. I've held a couple of meetings, but the headcount has never passed 5. If there's anyone else out there who'd be interested in meeting up for good MBAA session(s), let me know!
