The problem isn't my browser; I'm using the same Firefox I've used the entire time I've gone to the site. And besides that, the app Casterstats just flat-out refuses to connect to the stat-storing server. Every time I try to update my stats, I get
Quote
Unable to connect to the remote server
You have to be connected to the internet for the data sending feature

I tried turning off my firewall, too, but that didn't work. It might be the router I'm going through, but there's nothing I can do there because that's not mine.

I think I know what he's referring to. There was a downtime of about one hour and 20 minutes yesterday.
But yes, basically it's already back for weeks.
I'm still getting about 60% Page Load Error...

EDIT: And 100% 'Could not connect to the remote server.' when I try to update my stats.

I haven't paid a bill. But I already transferred the money, so it should be back soon.

Edit: Bureaucracy is a bitch.
Does this mean it won't be back soon after all+

Yes.
Such an incredibly descriptive answer.

There's such a thing as a good 2[C] combo?

Being the only good Nero player

Why you gotta be like that, Fui? I'm getting better!

Act Cadenza does have a story mode; it's called 'Arcade Mode', but I tought there might be some confusion because that's where all the story in the game is.

I don't see anything about 'retries'.

Nero = Nrvnqsr Chaos. Supposedly Nrvnqsr is pronounced Nero  :mystery:
'Nrvnqsr' is a gematrian play on words by the Nasuverse's church. The letters' numerical values add up to 666. As for Chaos, that's another thing the church added on once they found out how much of a threat he is (most Dead Apostles apparently only have one name).

I always thought it was 'Warui Arceuid', much like Wario is a mash-up of 'Warui Mario'. ('Warui'='bad')

Ciel's Tech Support / Re: Any way to play Melty Blood on a mac?
« on: February 10, 2009, 08:13:28 PM »
A friend of mine's PC broke down and now he only has a mac, and he wants to know if its possible to get MBAC working on a mac

He only has a mac, you say? Why, that's impossible! Because a mac is every computer in one.

Since he actually owns a PC (it's just broken), I assume he still has the install disc? Because if so, and if it's Windows XP, he can simply install Windows XP onto his mac either by downloading Boot Camp or using the Mac install disc (I'm not sure which one this started on, though).

Also, if you had simply looked a bit further down the page, you would've found this:

...

Also, did you put framedisplaymbac.exe and the folder 'src' into the same folder as your mbacPC.exe file?

Wow, yes that's what the issue was.

For some reason I never got the impression that was necessary... perhaps this post (if the installation instructions haven't already done so) will ward others from the same issue.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

You're welcome.

I was using the FrameDisplay tool to see what kinds of things all the characters had, and I came across this strange thing in Len's frameset. What the hell is it, and does she ever use it?

Can you actually play Melty Blood? Because if 02.p isn't there, the game doesn't even start.

Also, did you put framedisplaymbac.exe and the folder 'src' into the same folder as your mbacPC.exe file?

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: Concerning throws...
« on: February 09, 2009, 11:37:30 AM »
That actually got changed at some point. Now if both of you throw on the same frame you both whiff.

Really? Because I've got the controls set up so that both players throw on the same button, and it never does a double whiff. Starting off, right at the start, player one has advantage, but after that it seems to be based on whoever landed the last hit. I used P2's heat to knock back P1, then did the double grab a few times and P2 won every time. Then I used P1's heat to hit P2, and P1 won the next ten simultaneous grabs. If I didn't know better, I'd say this was conclusive proof, but for that you'd have to go into the game's code (and I don't know Japanese, so I can't do that).

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: MBAA new game mechanic: Hierarchy system
« on: February 09, 2009, 09:10:18 AM »
I believe the new system that fixes clashes is a good one, seems more stable sicne clash feels a bit too random from time to time.

Regarding the RB, I do hope this does not fuck up 2AA if you have crappy hit confirm?

Quote
Take that Nero's mantis arm! XD
That fucking arm clashes through everything I have :( block+water can him for knockdown is nice though :3

If somebody is clashing all your attacks with 4C, you're either already so outclassed there's no chance, or you're doing something seriously wrong.

What's with all the Nero hate I see here, anyway? It seems like every time a new mechanic comes up in the AA thread in Akiha's Tea Room, the first thing anybody does is try to figure out a way it hurts Nero.

Nero hate pales in comparison to Ciel hate and to answer your question under your avatar...Yes. Something is wrong with you.
If that's wrong, then I don't want to be right. :P

And I didn't ask if Nero was the most hated, I asked why he was hated at all. Ciel I can understand, seeing as she (according to people far better than me) breaks the game almost as badly as Akuma in his first appearance, but Nero is just a mid-low tier character with a couple of decent moves and a badass laugh. A Nanaya blockstring will work on anyone, whether they understand it or not, but have you ever seen a Nero blockstring that couldn't be escaped if you had any notion of how it worked?

(I used an edit for this, because I don't want to clutter the topic up with posts that don't match it.)

please make use of our extensive wealth of collective knowledge and experience.
Afraid I'll have to take you up on that immediately. I haven't been here long, but people have already been incredibly helpful, and I'd like to do something back. Unfortunately, despite seeing people talk about '+heat', I can't find any way to actually do this for people. Am I being stupid, or is it something I just don't have access to yet?

Yeah, the name has... I think four different meanings. At least three of them are vulgar in some way.

I'm pretty proud of my grammar, though even I screw up sometimes.

I have to ask you not to tell me who you main, though, because I haven't even finished Tsukihime yet, let alone Kagetsu Tohya.

MBAA Nero is skimpy because it's almost exactly the same as MBAC Nero. Half Moon just has a dash 2A and bee instead of EX deer, and full moon has starmine crows.

The gator is what happens when you take EX Snake and make it go as slow as B snake. Then make it not actually have full screen range and not really launch like EX Snake did.

There's no way they're exactly the same as old Nero; 5B and 5C are completely different, as is 2C, and I haven't even SEEN EX Deer (or Deer at all!) used even once. Seems nobody uses anything but F-Nero, and I've only seen them use EX Crows, EX Mud, and (oddly enough) some special that I swear was the bees. I haven't seen the Phantasm even once (does he still have that?), and nobody ever uses his Arc Drive (though I don't figure that's changed).

One more thing about characters in general; did all the Last Arcs get immensely powered down?

It only does ~2500 damage.

Is that even a move?

blah anyone has an update for this PC release date =_=

Pretty sure we don't even have anything about a PS2 release date, so don't get excited over a PC release this early.
A lot of us are hoping they port straight to PC rather than bother with a console port at all.

That would be nice.

...I hate to sound needy, but does anybody know if there's an in-depth guide to the character changes? I'm getting a pretty good idea from all these 55 pages, but it would be nice to get something a bit more specific to Nero.

I realize it's a bit much to ask, of course. The game is still relatively new, and it's probably pretty hard to get a chance to just get on a machine by yourself and test out everything a character can do, not to mention it costing more than a dollar per play.

Odd, I downloaded it and extracted the Nero section, but couldn't find HOAAA. I checked all of the sound files (most of them were nothing), too.
