I shall continue my habit of posting my new vids on here  :laffo: :mystery:

New CMV is ready. Enjoy!  :fap:

Youtube:
MBAACC CMV - Rise of the Synth-Melty

As always, big thanks to everyone that submitted combos. I had way more submissions than I could fit. So many that my original song idea needed to be scrapped to lengthen the vids time.

I like this video a lot. Musical background works so well with what's going on on the screen. I'm going to check out the rest of your channel too!

Thanks a lot.   ;D

I made another vid for her. Just midscreen combo optimizations that solve a lot of the problems with previous combo routes.

Enjoy!

After completely scrapping this project, twice, and overloading myself with frame by frame combo transision plans that were far too ambitious (and ultimately scrapping those too...), I have finally finished my 5th Melty CMV.

Big thanks to those who submitted combos to the CMV, and to those who have consistently submitted combos to my CMVs. Also, special thanks to Pluot for his frame step tool, which allows me to test combo elements systematically, and greatly reduces the time it takes to dummy record.

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: How is input lag on Steam Melty Blood?
« on: April 26, 2017, 06:22:49 AM »
The native input delay for the steam version is the same as both the original PC port that was bundled with Carnival Phantasm, and the CCCaster version, 3 frames.

Though if you are talking about netplay, well then, it's a crap shoot. It really depends on the connection between you and your opponent. As far as I know, the steam version doesnt allow you to set your own delay, but adjusts it for you, where as the CCCaster version allows you to set rollback/delay frames based off a recommended delay value.

As far as the steam version's netcode being anywhere as good as the caster netcode, it isnt. Though I will admit that I couldnt even find a match the last time I wanted to test it out to see if it was improved.

The answer is yes, you can. It is what I did, back in 2008 when I started playing fighting games. Melty was my 1st, and pretty much the only one I've stuck with. I still play it to this day.

Things that helped me learn:

I played offline with someone I knew, who also happened to be very good. He kicked my ass for like a year straight before I could take matches off him.

I went into training mode for at least an hour each day to practice things like combos, knockdown set-ups and mix-ups. Even just motions that I found difficult.

I played against other people often, mostly who were as good, or better than me. I asked questions, and went into play sessions with a goal in mind. For example, when I was learning to play, the 1st thing I wanted to do was defend well, and so I'd try to find situations where I could shield things.

I watched match footage of good players playing my character against many other characters.

I learned terminology, and combo notation.

I picked one character that I liked, and played with that one until I got comfortable in matches with things like combos, confirming random hits into combos, air counter hit combos, movement, playing the neutral game and spacing pokes, ect. Now I can pretty much play any character I feel like, with a bit of practice.

I made the effort to play the game, and to get others to play the game. So I would drive to others houses to play. I would buy food. I would bring a set-up to play on. Things like that.

I did not care about losing, and you will lose often. I had fun learning the game, and implementing the things I practiced, or new things I'd learned.

Now, I doubt that you have someone else in your area to play offline with. There are still a bunch of people that play online using the caster and discord. It is prolly the best netplay experience you'll find with any 'modern' fighting game.

Hope that helps. :)

I decided to make another combo tutorial for her. This one has updated combo routes I've discovered. Mostly for midscreen, mostly for corner carry into proper spacing for rock oki, and mostly deals with character specifics.

Feel free to ask questions, as I could not include information on timings and delays and such in the video.

Enjoy!

Kohaku's Video Room / MBAACC Warc CMV-05 Preview
« on: August 25, 2016, 04:04:56 PM »
I've pretty much decided to make a new CMV. I'm strongly considering making it Warc only.

Same as usual, anyone that want to submit combos can. I'll include them if I like them. PM me here or on Discord to send me the dummy replays.

What's up, everybody. I'm Sealophile, a completely new player from SoFlo.

Welcome to the forums.

There are some people that play in FL. They might not come by the forums much anymore, but they still play. There is also and arcade that has a melty cab running mbaacc.

I'd like to request a feature: being able to host and training mode at the same time via CCCaster.

I do this already. It requires 1 extra step from what I think you want. (maybe 2 if you are full screen)

Double click the cccaster.exe twice. Host on one, training mode on the other. You'll have to manually close the training mode once a connection ping sounds.

I run the game in windowed mode, so I just close the training mode. Using alt+tab will work if you are full screen though.

Not saying doing both from one caster window wouldn't be nice, but the current solution requires, what I would consider to be, minimal effort.

It's prolly Red Melon's 2nd cmv:
https://youtu.be/dlOdcyRT3KA?t=87
That is prolly the combo he is talking about. I have not tested it extensively, but I'd expect it only works out of 22B, or from something like a 5C counter hit 22B. It is not really a matter of speed, but actuate timing to link the 22Cs. The timing requires that you buffer the 22 input during recovery, and hit the C on, or possibly a few frames after, the 1st frame of recovery. The buffer window for the 22 input is flexible, 8 frames, but the button press needs to be after recovery is complete, but also in the 8 frame buffer window with the motion.

The short answer is that it's hard for new players to gauge the timing, because the animations are fast and not always obvious. You are indeed, prolly inputting it too late. Do the 22 during the recovery, then time the C for frame 1 of recovery. To me it feels like 1-2 frame link, but I have not tested that. I'm too lazy to record it and go frame by frame.

It also appears to work on everyone. No, I did not test every char, but a few: Arc, Aoko, Ries, Warc, Wara, NAC, Len, VShi. Enough of the weird and more normal ones that I think it's universal.

Hope this helps. :)

I moved back to Texas. Been on the road. Yeah man, send the dummy recordings to me, and I'll decide which to include. All of those are pretty cool.

That is a cool ass combo, but I'm pretty sure that exact combo was featured in another CMV. I try to make sure that the combos in my CMVs have at least one unique element to them.

So work got super busy. Then I wasn't really pleased with the way the combos and Gemini song were syncing. So I scrapped the project and started over.

New preview: http://puu.sh/lRXw9/579934222d.mp4

New Song will be Cracks by Freestylers (Flux Pavilion Remix)

There is still room for combos if you want a combo in this CMV. See the 1st post for instructions on that.

I never did calculate the exact frame data for her, but the vid I posted in the 1st post goes over what's plus. Basically, her plus moves are:
2A
5A
BE5B (can be air tight into 2/5A)
22B
214C

5B is neutral at best.

Hope that helps.

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: Startup frames on Shields?
« on: August 09, 2015, 12:10:19 PM »
Wake-up shield is a reversal because the shield is active on frame 1. Therefore there is no start-up on shields. Now the stuff they can do after a shield might be what your friend is talking about.

Speed of things for C-moon shields depend on the char and the type of shield. EX shield to normal, like 5A, is prolly the fastest thing. Chars with 3 frame start-up 5As can CH the opponent. Chars with slower 5As will not counter hit, unless the opponent did a multi hit move, or a move with more active frames, like a j.C. If the C-Moon did held shield, then the speed depends on the special, or EX they canceled into.

F-moon 236D follow ups may be faster than H-moon auto counters, but they can delay it a bit. They can cancel into specials/EX like C-moon.

H-moon auto counters speeds are char specific, but in general, slower. They can cancel into specials/EX like C-moon.

I think I'ma use this song: Blue by Gemini.

I've started working on another cmv for melty. If you have a combo you want included, please record a dummy replay of it, and send me the dummy replay file from the mbaacc folder for that char and moon, along with details like required meter, screen position, char color, stage, CH, ect.

Use the PM system here to get a hold of me. I can't say I'll be checking every day, but I will check.

The cmv is a ways off from being complete, so there is loads of time to record a combo if you want one included.

As usual though, just because you send me a combo doesn't mean it will get included. If I like it enough, or it meets some other requirement that I need, I'll include it.

Thanks.

Easy things to practice in training mode:

Combos.
While many combos work on the whole cast in this game, the 'optimal' ones usually have some elements that are char specific in regards to timing, or may even need to be modified for certain chars. Keep in mind that confirming hits into combos is something you get from playing other people.

Pressure.
With all guard and recovery A/B/C/D functions, you can practice staggers and frame traps in your block strings. Because the dummy will always attack on the 1st gap, its a little bit harder to get used to taking advantage of extended block strings and random hits. It's also a little difficult to identify weaknesses in your pressure, but these are things you can figure out while playing.

Oki Set-Ups.
With combo, all guard, and recovery X functions, you can do a combo, end the combo, and practice your oki set-ups/mix-ups. You can also practice meaty timing. Using the dummy record functions in training mode to have a dummy do your combo and oki set-up will also allow you to identify what reversals, or other defensive options, your set-up is weak to, as you can attempt to escape the set-up your self.

The one frame air throw thing has been in the game since ps2 as far as I know. I'm sure there are posts about it in these forums. I think I posted about it myself a ways back.
