did you pull this out of your ass

I but tried to simplify what kashiwa said, since KidPhantom said he couldn't understand it.

I don't run on autopilot, I run on an if statement.

if ( Nero = inTheAir) goto.jC;
else goto.4C;

To put it simply:

Normally, there's a height limit on aerials (or perhaps it's a time limit. It has the same effect in this case), which means the aerial can't come out on the first frame of the jump, which in turns leads to the aerial missing due to being too high up when you can finally use the aerial.

However, double jumping removes these limits, but comes with the fault that you'd have to have near frame-perfect timing to pull it off with a notable result (that being, double jumping while still being low enough to hit with the aerial).

Thus, the term "instant double jump" is made, and the name makes it rather obvious what it is - A double jump done as fast as possible after leaving the ground.

In frame data, I guess the notation would look roughly like this:

9, wait 4 frames, 9+B, wait until the first hit connects, 66+B (unless you have to wait a few frames after an airdash to use aerials), land, repeat.

I hope that's more understandable.

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Different input rules for different characters?
« on: December 05, 2007, 05:40:48 PM »
Alright, while fooling around in practice mode with V. Akiha, I found that 4, 236C activated her arcdrive. Seeing as I've played on keyboard for a while now, I wondered why I hadn't discovered this earlier.

However, when trying it with Nero, 4, 236C always gave his EX crows, and only 41236C activated the arcdrive. I'm sure my input was a close to identical as I could possibly make it, yet I got an arcdrive 95% of the time with V. Akiha using 4, 236C and never (unless I "messed up" and did 41236C instead) with Nero.

So, the question: Does different characters have different rules about input (varying priority on which specials come out?), or did I magically get awesome keyboard crushing skills whenever I picked V. Akiha?

EDIT: For added clarity, I added two replays. Turn on input display and watch them. The input is near identical, yet obviously different moves come out.

Awesome! Exactly something like that I had in mind.

Well, coming up with better combos then those in the vid will be hard, but it's a great outline and source of inspiration. Thanks!

Awesome, not one short.

I'd never be able to name ~85 of the songs though, just recognize them.

Oh, and Chun:

Nero Chaos (Nrvnqsr) / Silly combos with Nero's summons?
« on: November 28, 2007, 05:55:42 PM »
Seeing as Nero got three pretty diverse summons, he should be able to do some silly and/or entertaining combos with them. I myself am pretty much horrible at creating original combos, even less entertaining ones, but I thought I'd throw the thought out and see if anyone was sitting (or comes up with any) weird combos with Nero's summons, regardless of damage dealt or meter cost.

I'll attach an archive with three quick replays by me, showcasing some combos I hope give off the general idea of what I mean. If people come with enough ideas (or I magically get inspiration myself), we could throw together a combo video with it.

Well, yeah, any takers?

The standard MB pad config is
Code: [Select]
  D
A   C
  B

with R1 as Quick action, and if you want, L1 as ABC (airdash command) and R2 as AD (shield/grab).

I tried to get my friend to play MB with me, however, he gets the error mentioned in the title when launches MB through MBCaster. Any ideas on what could cause this? He seems to have the exact same setup as me, so I'm clueless to what the error would be.
