Akiha's Tea Room / Calling all translators: Viikii.net
« on: March 08, 2010, 09:44:11 AM »
Just in case you're looking to brush up your translation skills/fluency, you can watch shows on Viikii.net (they're pretty much all live-action/dramas). The majority of them are Korean, but there are some Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese shows as well, among others. I've been doing K>E translation work for "Smile, You" and it's actually helped my Korean quite a bit.

Also, it turns out my Japanese is totally non-existent compared to my Korean so someone needs to go translate Bloody Monday so I can figure out what the fuck is going on.  :teach:

PS: Goddamnit. They have Liar Game 2 (sort of) but not Liar Game 1. Boo.

Akiha's Tea Room / The DFO Thread (aka Poverty Fighter Online)
« on: November 05, 2009, 12:47:37 AM »
Since I had nothing better to do (while I have 4 private contracts to fulfill for web design among tons of other stuff) I started playing DFO for the hell of it, mostly because I wanted a good co-op PvE game to play. It gets grindy at times but it isn't as horrible as Mabi was. Anyhow, if you play, list your char name and type/level and maybe we'll get some pvp or something stupid in. I also hear Mike Ross plays this. :V

Goddamn game needs guilds already.

Melty Bread Announcements / Melty Bread Rules: Please Read Before Posting
« on: November 13, 2008, 09:57:47 PM »
:psyduck: Please do not discuss any pirating of MBAC or any other software on this board. Disc-Swapping software is fine (it's necessary for playing imports), but no further than that.

:psyduck: If you are new, post on the Introduction thread in Akiha's Tea Room.

:psyduck: Anything non-Melty should go in Akiha's Tea Room (General Discussion). Anything potentially offensive should go into Sacchin Toast (Members Only, you must post several times before being granted access).

:psyduck: Stupidity, flame wars, hentai, etc (basically, anything that isn't outright illegal, outright racist, or guro) are only tolerated in Sacchin Toast. It would be kind of dumb to ban hentai considering where Melty Blood's roots are from.

:psyduck: No spreading of personal information without one's consent. That means IM address (unless they have it in their profile!), names, pictures, etc.

:psyduck: Being an idiot outside of Sacchin Toast will invite a warning. This is denoted by a Black Star status: . Cumulative infractions will invoke higher levels of restriction.

: Warning Level
: Team Dumbass
: Fail-ism
: Die In A Fire
: LALALA~ We're Not Listening (a.k.a. BANNED)

Each star lasts one week from inception, unless you've been banned, in which case it may be permanent. Levels 1 and 2 don't incur any restrictions, but 3 and 4 definitely will notice that we're cramping their style. There may also be timed bans to go along with new infractions at moderator discretion.

West Toast XII will occur ONE WEEK BEFORE Memorial Day Weekend! (:psyduck:) We'll also be holding Super Battle Opera "Last Chance Qualifiers" Qualifiers (hence the QQ) for Melty Blood: Act Cadenza and Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core! Please note that the QQs are for a guaranteed spot at Super Battle Opera's Last Chance Qualifiers which take place on the same day as the main event. Teams are typically drawn from a lottery into a 32-man bracket, but we've reserved a spot for both games for whichever team prevails at this event.

However, because these are not actual SBO spots, we cannot sponsor your airfare to the event (though I will try to go with the teams to Japan and assist in lodging and transportation). Therefore, the entry fee for a SBO QQ is $15 (no cover charge) and 50% of the Singles pot will go towards the SBO team.

:psyduck:: This is not occurring on Memorial Day Weekend because of two concurrent majors (NorthWest and ECC).

*EDIT*
(This is Mizuki now) During the tournament, if you have to go somewhere, tell the person who is running the tournament. If you did not tell the person running it I personally will give you 5 minutes not during semis and beyond. Once in semis and therefore I will call your name 3 times. If you dont NOT show up in those 3 minutes I will drop you. If you have to go to the bathroom, or want to grab something to eat, tell me PLEASE. I will not mind if I have to wait 15 minutes for you to eat, as long as you tell me you will be SAFE 100%, I guarentee it.

This is a major problem I faced with the two WT's I've ran and I'm sick of it personally, and other people are too. I don't even care if it's Sp00ky or someone who is gone, I'll drop you.

Oh and don't think being in the Guilty Gear tournament will save you if you don't tell me. I will drop you. Me, the jackass I am even tell people I have to go for a moment, and if I can do it, you guys can do it too.

(Mizuki, out)

Tournament Results / Tournament Awards (Majors)
« on: September 07, 2007, 02:42:10 AM »
Introduction

If a tournament has at least 32 entrants, the top player in any tournaments won at the event (Teams, Singles) receives an Award that shows up on their post profile. The Tournament Director can submit a 20x20 transparent GIF for the award if desired, but it must represent the tournament in question.

For past majors, please submit Awards and the winner in question, as well as number of participants.

At first, I made it 16+, including Mid-Level Tourneys, but then I had two zillion fucking pieces of toast in the Awards section.

Tournament Listings

Evolution 2007: Arlieth(Singles), Choco(Teams), Q-Chu(Teams)
NorthEast Championships 8 (2007): TBD

NEC8 design not finalized.

Megabus: http://www.megabus.com

Limited departure times and stations means that you'll be at the whim of their schedules, but for ~$10 each way, it's pretty hard to argue with the price. Services California, Nevada and Arizona only for West Coast.

Current Times: (Multiple schedules available, please check on megabus.com)
Saturday: Arrives at Los Angeles at ~3:30 PM
Sunday: Departs from Los Angeles at ~7:00 AM

Should be used in conjunction with...

Van Nuys Flyaway: http://lawa.org/vny/flyAwayInfo.cfm

Leaves every half hour, except for early morning, which is hourly. The Van Nuys flyaway is only 20 minutes away from Interface and 5 minutes from FFA, and it only costs $8 each way to Union Station (or $4 to LAX).

To use with the MegaBus, take Union Station to LAX (which is 20-40 minutes depending on traffic), then transfer from LAX to Van Nuys. FlyAway buses stop under every terminal at the green "FlyAway, Buses and Long Distance Vans" signs and are marked with their route.

This is purely hypothetical  :blah:.

Remove:
-Crossup Protection

Add:
-Chip Death: When Yellow Life runs out, Red Life drains twice as fast. When both Red and Yellow are at zero, only a special, EX or Arc-level attack will kill.
-Increased wakeup throw priority
-Increased damage across the board (games take too long)
-Improved command interpreter. STOP DASHING WHEN I INPUT AN UPPERCUT!
-Throw in some super-cancels. I wanna be able to do A.Crow -> EX Snake :3
-Shiki Ryougi.

Melty Blood Auditorium / WANTED: MeltyWiki Manager
« on: August 08, 2007, 04:28:50 AM »
Melty Bread is currently looking for someone to manage the creation and maintenance of the MeltyWiki.

Preliminary Perks:
  • Lord Magus administrator access on the forums
  • MeltyWiki FTP administrator access
  • Meltybread.com E-Mail account
  • Manager-level Melty Bread T-Shirt (Black)
  • Possibly, my precious, precious collection of Melty Blood mooks

Personal Duties: (may be split)
  • Oversee validity of information and police spamming
  • Manage updates of new MB material
  • Moderate discussion on Wiki pages
  • Creation of new pages, with sections for staff to fill-in
  • Create a deadline schedule and maintain a regular pace of construction
  • Regular backup of Wiki and installation of plugins/updates (involves editing of config.php)

Delegated Duties: (to be managed)
  • Copypasta of legacy information (Pishi and MBread message board)
  • Research of new information
  • Translation of moonspeak
  • Transcription of frame data (source material scans available upon request)

Note that actually putting in the core material is not emphasized for the management position. For people who contribute, I will also have compensation in effect. However, the MeltyWiki Manager will have access to the core wiki installation directory.

If you don't know how to do the technical stuff (plugins/updates) but are computer-literate and willing to learn, you'll still be considered a qualified candidate. I am looking more for management skills than technical.

If necessary, I can split this position up into Management and Technical but that means the Technical position becomes a regular Staff and not a manager-level position.

    • Controller Settings must be configured before fully loading MBAC's game mode.

    Special Notes:
    • Station Donators receive free entry into the tournament.
    • Stations will only be accepted if they run MBAC at or exceeding 60fps. It must also offer USB connections, and have disabled unnecessary processes such as anti-virus, wireless internet and screen-saver. Also, S-Video output capability is preferred.
    • Stations will have V-Sync enabled and MBAC to be set at High Priority processing.
    • Station USB Ports will be overclocked to 500Hz to eliminate standard USB latency.
    • Station displays will output to an external CRT (Monitor or TV) via VGA or S-Video connection to eliminate LCD latency.
    • 3rd Strike will be from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Tekken 5 DR will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
    • There are some changes from PS2 to PC version. White Len is now selectable, certain gameplay balance changes are evident, and EX Bunker Cancels now require 150% Magic Circuit instead of 100%.

So far I've noted the following:

-2.C has reduced horizontal range Correction, it's still the same
-B.Crow does not hit when going upwards (BOOO!)

    Anyone notice anything else?
