West Toast was founded by a bunch of enthusiastic Melty Blood players just trying to grow their scene. The premise has always been to meet other players and to have fun. After two years without a West Toast, they've been revived in 2011! Now the event incorporates even more games, but the premise remains the same: meet other like-minded players and have fun!

West Toast is a "Mini-Major" tournament which focuses on airdashers and other similar games. The tournament will be split into two days: Melty Blood etc. and Guilty Gear etc. Melty Blood Day will incorporate many of the doujin fighters, while Guilty Gear Day will incorporate more of the well-known fighters. Players will also be holding many side tournaments for all sorts of obscure games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters! So, come prove yourself among your peers as the best of the west coast at West Toast!

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Calculating Damage: Rounding?
« on: December 27, 2011, 08:33:32 AM »
I have a question for anybody who has actually worked on calculating damage, prorations and data.

How does rounding work? For example, if I've calculated the damage to be 599.8 does it round up or round down?

I know it's not as clear cut as that, because the damage displayed on screen may not be 100% accurate, but I just want some light shed on the subject.

I'm working on figuring out damage for normals from an arcade board, and I'm getting a few odd numbers among a few exact numbers. For example, I'll get that one move does exactly 1000.0 damage, while another would do 299.3. I'm assuming the numbers are supposed to be exact (i.e. 2A does 300.0 dmg, 5A does 350.0 dmg, etc.) but if I change it and edit prorations accordingly, it doesn't equal out with the on-screen damage.

Tournaments and Events / West Toast XV - Pre-tourney Discussion
« on: October 29, 2011, 04:04:51 PM »
So...

I want to hold another West Toast. Work and school were kicking my ass, making me really not wanting to go through all that work again. However, I think now's a good time to start getting things ready for WTXV!

This thread is here to help discuss good dates, schedules, getting people to help run it, etc. I'm going to point out a few things and I want you all to chime in on what you think.

Timing:
When do we hold the tournament?
College schedule is a big deal; most of you (as well as myself) attend college, so I want to make sure to at least avoid Finals/Mid-terms.
I also want it to coincide with releases for games. Actress Again comes out for PC in December, as well as the JP version of BBCS2+, so it'll have to be sufficient time after Dec.
I would like the tournament to take place on a Saturday and a Sunday if possible.

Games:
The main four I would like to include are:
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II Extend
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
Melty Blood Actress Again: Current Code
Arcana Heart 3

-We'd run two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday if that will work.

I'd also like to have a bunch of side games, which I'd need people to help me run.
FFA has the arcade boards for a lot of fighting games that you wouldn't expect (Hokuto no Ken, Vampire Savior, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, etc.), so if any of you would love to host something, point it out.

Last time there was also a problem of recording games, a lot of it was my fault, the drivers went out on the laptop I was bringing and I wasn't able to use my recording software :psyduck:

The rules are pretty fine as they are, but I might as well post them up in here for discussion.

(10/29):
Pending Rules:

BlazBlue Continuum Shift II Extend:
Double Elimination Bracket, 2/3 Matches, 2/3 Rounds
Double-blind character selection available on request.
Winners must keep same character, losers may counter pick.

If the PS3 version is available we will run the tournament on PS3 (unless the PS3 has some bugs or unforeseeable arcade imperfect qualities).

I'll update and reply accordingly!

If a new version of Melty Blood comes out before the tournament, we will use it as long as it's not too soon before the tournament (i.e. tournament is on Sunday and we get the new version on Thursday, we will use the older version).

Hope to see you guys there!

236A: Gunshot blast: Straight. This is like the A part of C-Moon's 236B...A. It is Air Unblockable. It's Blowback edge has bigger range and wallslams.
236B: Gunshot blast: Upwards. This is like the B part of C-Moon's 236B...B. It is Air Unblockable. It's Blowback Edge has bigger range and pushes opponent to the edge of the screen.
236C (EX): Air Unblockable.

214A: PCiel fires a missile from the ground.
214B: PCiel jumps in the air and fires a missile downward.
214C (EX): PCiel fires a barrage of missiles from the ground, then jumps and keeps firing in the air.

j.214A: PCiel fires a missile in the air.
j.214B: PCiel fires a missile in the air. (I will try and find the difference between A and B).
j.214C (EX): PCiel fires a barrage of missiles from the air.

623A: Dragon Punch style move. Moves further forward than C-Moon version.
...A/B/C: Will kick downwards. Must be done while in the middle of the move, won't work after the animation is over. I didn't notice any difference in angle/hits/damage between the A/B/C versions of the follow-up. (Dmg depends on how many hits you do, which depends on your height. I'll calculate it soon.)
623B: Dragon Punch style move. Goes all the way to the top of the screen! You will land before your opponent will. You cannot follow this move up like you can with 623A. 2318dmg.
623C (EX): A typical EX of 623B.

j.236A: Air version of 623A. Yes, the input is j.236A, not j.623A. TKable.
...A/B/C: The follow-up works the same as the ground version.
j.236B: Air version of 623B. Doesn't go up quite as high. Like 623B, there's no follow-up, but you land before your opponent. TKable.
j.236C (EX): EX type version of j.236B.

63214A: PCiel throws a big rock out. A version is lower than the B version.
63214B: PCiel throws a big rock out. B version is higher than the A version. The rocks from 63214B can be kicked.
63214C (EX):

Arcs:
Arc Drive: 41236C: Will rush at opponent using the same motion as 236C. It will freeze your position on the screen, so it won't necessarily push them into the corner.
Another Arc: 41236C: Same as above, but more damaging follow-up. ~4000dmg.
Last Arc: EX Shield in Normal Stance. 6683dmg.

I'll get more info on damage, and other things I missed, when I get a chance to practice against a human who's helping me out. Friday night isn't the best time to figure this sort of thing out and write notes  :psyduck:

Basic stuff for now, I'll test more things as I have more time on the arcade machine.

Everything below has been corrected/updated for 1.07.

Normals:
5A: Low heel. Ciel does a knife kick near her opponent's ankles. Hits LOW. Air UN-blockable. 350 dmg [.72 proration]

2A: Low knife jab. Purple effect doesn't hit. Hits LOW. Same animation as Crescent's 2A. Air UN-blockable. 300 dmg [.72 proration]

j.A: Air Knife jab, hits in the middle of her sprite's box. Purple effect does not hit. Is not jump cancelable. Same animation as Crescent's j.A. Air blockable. 300 dmg [.?? proration]

5B: Knife swipe. Leaves a crescent slash similar to Ryougi's. Same animation as Crescent's 5B. Air UN-blockable. 600 dmg [.80 proration]

6B: Lunging kick. Moves PCiel forward a bit. Wallslams on hit. Air UN-blockable. 500 dmg [.66 proration]

2B: Knife swiping kind of low. Even though it's a 2 attack, it hits MID. Air UN-blockable. 700 dmg [.80 proration]

j.B: Downwards kick. Groundslams on air hit. Your main reset tool. Air blockable. 500 dmg [.90 proration]

5C: Slashes forward with her gun. Has incredible range. Same animation as Crescent's 5C. Air UN-blockable. 1000 dmg [.70 proration]

4C: Slashes upward. Useful tool for moving your opponent's body upwards mid-combo. Same animation as Crescent's 4C. Air UN-blockable. 800 dmg [.70 proration]

2C: Extended low kick with good range. This is often what you want to use when your opponent is landing from a Counter Hit. This move has R proration, which means that it cumulates proration with the previous attack, so use sparingly; it will lower your damage over all if used too much. Same animation as Crescent's 3C. This hits LOW. Air UN-blockable. 800 dmg [.57R proration]

3C: Kick flip upwards. Your key launcher normal. Air UN-blockable. 1000 dmg [.57 proration]

j.C: Kicks kind of high in the air, leaving a swiping trail. This is the normal you want to use for cross-ups. Same animation as Crescent's j.C. Air blockable. 1000 dmg [.90 proration]

Note: No Blowback Edges on ANY normals!

Target Combo:
A, 6A, 6A: Last hit DOES NOT HIT HIGH even though it looks like it does. Last hit cannot be BE'd, either, even though it looks like it should. Whole combo is air UN-blockable. 1302 dmg [.50 proration total]

Note: You cannot combo a normal into another normal in the air. No j.BC, dj.BC  :emo:

Specials:

236 series:
236A: Rushes forward and does a launching flip kick. Blowback Edge on the flip kick delays it, launches higher, and hits HIGH. Both hits are air UN-blockable. 1575dmg (2 hits). BE (2nd hit only) = 1100 dmg
236B: Rushes forward, won't attack if you don't input something while rushing... There's some clashing near the beginning of this move, so it can be a useful tool for rushing in on your opponent while they're zoning.
...A: Shoots a gun blast forwards. Air UN-blockable. 1200 dmg
...B: Shoots a gun blast upwards (~45° up). Air UN-blockable. 1500 dmg
...C: Does the flip kick from 236A. Air UN-blockable. 700 dmg
236C (EX): Rushes forward, the rush part hits the opponent. Ends with a forward gun blast. This is her highest damaging EX, and it's air-unblockable. If your opponent is landing or just jumping, feel free to throw this out. Air UN-blockable. 3106dmg (11 hits).
Note: 236 series is virtually the same as C-Moon.

623 Series:
623A: Dragon Punch style move. Air blockable. 1399dmg (3 hits).
...A/B/C: Will kick downwards. Must be done while in the middle of the move, won't work after the animation is over. There is no difference in angle/hits/damage between the A/B/C versions of the follow-up. There is no difference in damage between the ground series (623) and the air series (j.236) Air blockable. 350 [.70] (per hit, 6 hits total)
623B: Dragon Punch style move. Goes all the way to the top of the screen! You will land before your opponent will. You cannot follow this move up like you can with 623A. If you whiff, you will recover just after you reach the top of the screen, making it totally safe on whiff (but not on block). Great for air okizeme after combos. If done against an opponent in the corner, you and your opponent will switch sides when you land, making you the one in the corner. Air blockable. 2330dmg (7 hits).
623C (EX): An EX version of the 623B move. You can recover on whiff like 623B. Air UN-blockable. 2503dmg (8 hits).
Note: 623 series is virtually the same as C-Moon.

j.236 Series:
j.236A: Air version of 623A. Yes, j.236A, not j.623A. TKable. Air blockable. 925dmg (2 hits).
...A/B/C: The follow-up works the same as the ground version. There is no difference in angle/hits/damage between the A/B/C versions of the follow-up. There is no difference in damage between the ground series (623) and the air series (j.236) Air blockable. 350 [.70] (per hit, 6 hits total)
j.236B: Air version of 623B. Doesn't go up quite as high. Like 623B, there's no follow-up, but you land before your opponent. TKable. Air blockable. 2061dmg (6 hits).
j.236C (EX): An EX version of j.236B. Air blockable. 2674dmg (11 hits).
Note: j.236 series is virtually the same as C-Moon.

214 Series:
214A: Vertical Laser. Send out a vertical laser in front of PCiel, pretty close. Blowback Edge makes it move forward (Think Magneto's Super in MvC2). The laser doesn't quite reach the top of the screen, so if you're up that high, it won't hit. If an air opponent gets hit by one of her vert. lasers, they'll get slammed down to the ground really quickly. Air blockable. 1434dmg (10 hits) BE=1625dmg (12 hits).
214B: Vertical laser. Sends out a vertical laser about 60% of the screen away from PCiel. Blowback Edge makes it move back and forth within the area. BE version really helps you get in on them while they're blocking at a distance. If an air opponent gets hit by one of her vert. lasers, they'll get slammed down to the ground really quickly. Air blockable. 1514dmg (10 hits) BE=1859dmg (15 hits).
214C (EX): Horizontal Laser. This is similar to C-PCiel's EX laser. It will shoot forward at a really good distance. Air blockable. 2151dmg (10 hits).

j.214 Series:
j.214A: 214A in the air. Floats forward in the air a bit. Can be TK'd. Air blockable. 1434dmg (10 hits)  BE=1625dmg (12 hits)
j.214B: 214B in the air. Floats forward in the air a bit. Vertical laser appears about 40% of the screen away, as opposed to the ground version which appears 60% away. Can be TK'd. Air blockable. 1537dmg (11 hits) BE=1882dmg (15 hits).
j.214C (EX): The same as 214C on the ground. Air blockable. 2151dmg (10 hits).

Arc Drive:
41236C: Will rush at opponent using the same motion as 236C. It will freeze your position on the screen, so it won't necessarily push them into the corner. Air UN-blockable. 3571 (18 hits).

Damage tested against Aoko during her first 75% of health (She has a 1.0 defense rating during her first quarter).

H-PCiel's Defense Ratings (Same as C-Moon):
100%: 0.95; 75%: 0.95; 50%: 0.95; 25%: 1.00

Basic stuff for now, I'll test more things as I have more time on the arcade machine.

5A: Knife jab. The purple effect following it does not hit.
2A: Low knife jab. Purple effect doesn't hit. Pretty sure it hits low, but I forgot to check.
j.A: Air Knife jab, hits in the middle of her sprite's box. Purple effect does not hit.
5B: Knife swipe. Leaves a crescent slash similar to Ryougi's.
6B: Hits opponent with the butt of her gun. Has very small range.

4C: Slashes upward. AIR UNBLOCKABLE.
2C: Kick flip upwards. AIR UNBLOCKABLE.
3C: Extended low kick with good range. Hits LOW
j.C: Kicks kind of high in the air, leaving a swiping trail. This is the normal you want to use for cross-ups.

Note: You cannot combo a normal into another normal in the air. No j.BC, dj.BC  :emo:

Specials:
236A: Rushes forward and does a launching flip kick (1525dmg). Blowback Edge on the flip kick delays it launches higher, and is an overhead.
236B: Rushes forward, won't attack if you don't input something while rushing...
...A: Shoots a gun blast forwards. Air Unblockable ~1500dmg
...B: Shoots a gun blast upwards (~45% up). Air Unblockable ~1500dmg.
...C: Does the flip kick from 236A. ~1000dmg.
236C (EX): Rushes forward, the rush part hits the opponent. Ends with a forward gun blast. 3088dmg.

214A: Laser Beam. Is faster than B, is a little higher on the screen, too; only does 1 hit. Can Blowback Edge for some great distance (BE does 1306dmg). Builds a good amount of meter.
214B: Laser Beam. Is slower than A, is a little lower on the screen than A, also. Has greater distance than A. 1490 dmg. Blowback Edge has the same distance as BE214A. 1465dmg.
214C (EX): A super version of this move, lasts a little longer. 1814dmg.

j.214A: 214A in the air. Can be TK'd. (BE does 1326dmg)
j.214B: 214B in the air. Can be TK'd. 1490dmg. (BE does 1530 dmg)
j.214C (EX): The same as 214C on the ground. 1984dmg.

623A: Dragon Punch style move. 1293dmg.
...A/B/C: Will kick downwards. Must be done while in the middle of the move, won't work after the animation is over. 623B: Dragon Punch style move. Goes all the way to the top of the screen! You will land before your opponent will. You cannot follow this move up like you can with 623A. 2298dmg
623C (EX): A typical EX of 623B. 2365dmg.

j.236A: Air version of 623A. Yes, the input is j.236A, not j.623A. TKable.
...A/B/C: The follow-up works the same as the ground version.
j.236B: Air version of 623B. Doesn't go up quite as high. Like 623B, there's no follow-up, but you land before your opponent. TKable. 2040dmg.
j.236C (EX): EX type version of j.236B.

Arcs:
Arc Drive: 41236C: Will rush at opponent using the same motion as 236C. It will freeze your position on the screen, so it won't necessarily push them into the corner.

Ciel's Tech Support / Sega Ringwide board issues: MBAACC
« on: April 09, 2011, 11:32:24 AM »
The arcade I work at just got Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code, but we're having problems with the Sega Ringwide board (It's our first time dealing with this hardware).

Specifically, it won't turn on. The Sega Ringwide board requires a DC In for its power and comes with a regulator that you're supposed to integrate it with. We connect the regulator to the board, and plug the regulator in, but the Ringwide board is not powering on.

Now, I'm not as technical as my boss, so excuse me if I make some mistakes in how this works, but I think there could be two different issues that are affecting it.

The board is supposed to receive 12V, but it might only be getting 5V. The board could support 5V through the cables that were provided, but this could be an issue, idk. The DC In connector has 6 pins, 3 of each type needed. The redundancy could be to cover all bases, one being 12V in, another being 5V in, another being something else. The manual that came with the game isn't very helpful about this.

There could be a problem with the regulator. It is plugging directly into an outlet (so it's receiving AC), but the regulator outputs DC to the board. The regulator could be at fault here. Either it is broken, or is having trouble doing its job, or there's something we're not doing right (that's probably right in front of our faces and obvious).

I know that almost none of you have dealt with the Ringwide board, but if any of you have any clue as to what can fix this problem it would be very appreciated. I play Melty Blood myself and am incredibly anxious to get this game up and running. It's like being shown your Christmas present on Christmas Eve, but you're not allowed to play with it until after New Year's  :emo:

FFA's bi-weekly airdasher tournaments ARE BACK!

I took a long hiatus, but now it's time to get these started again.

BlazBlue at 5PM
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom at 5:30PM

$6 to enter ($4 pot, $2 house)
It will be held on the Wii, bring your own joysticks.
Pot split will be 70/20/10 (1st/2nd/3rd) or 75%/25% if there's 10 or less people.

Rules
-Will be playing the US version of TvC:UAS on the Wii
-Double elimination
-Normal sets are best 2 out of 3 games, Winner's, Loser's, and Grand Finals are best 3 out of 5 games OR 4 out of 7
-Standard settings (start w/1 bar, 99 seconds, regular damage)
-Winner keeps characters, loser can change characters or keep current characters
-Pre-match character switching (hold down OR hold P button before battle begins) is legal and player has to stick with current character.
-All characters are legal INCLUDING PTX-40A and Gold Lightan.
-No freeze, invisibility glitches, etc. or player who initiates glitch forfeits a round.
-Stage select is legal. If the fire stage is picked both players must agree to fight on it.
-Will be played on whatever screen ratio matches the television: if we're playing on 4:3 TV, the station must be assigned to 4:3. Likewise, if we're playing on a widescreen TV, it must be on 16:9 aspect ratio.
-All kinds of controllers, sticks (wired, wireless, Gamecube, PS2 converted to GC, classic controllers, etc.), and button mapping are all allowed, but turbo functionality is illegal.

Thanks to RoyalFlush for hosting this tournament.

If for some reason we have to do a Round Robin, there are a couple different ways of doing it. Here are the rules you can expect:
-In a Round Robin, everyone has a chance to fight everyone.
-The number of matches you win will count (So 2-0 is recorded and 2-1 is recorded). That means even if you lost you can still get 1 point.
-At the end of the Round Robin, the top two players go to Grand Finals where it runs like Grand Finals from a Double Elimination Bracket (the person with 2nd most points has to win two sets, the person with 1st most points has to win one set).
-If there was a tie for 1st place, both players go to grand finals, but with no advantage. This will be only one set (possibly two sets but both players would be even), but 3/5 matches (or higher depending on the game).
-If there was a tie for 2nd place, there will be an automatically decided tie-breaker on who gets to go to grand finals (usually it's who won between the two player's matches during the Round Robin).
-Round Robins are only done if there is a really small amount of people for a game (like 4, 5 or 6), or it can be incorporated into a Swiss Bracket if there's more than 64 people. Both cases are unlikely.

Most Round Robin tournaments are fuzzy on if they do Grand Finals or if they give only 1 point total for all matches put together, so I figured I'd just want to clear that up ahead of time.

Side tournaments not listed here are encouraged, just please try and ask me ahead of time. If for some reason I am lax on an update, the next tournament will be 2 Sundays after this one (9/5).

If you have questions about rules, comments about how the tournament went, or notice something I missed (like another tournament happening on the same day), please let me know and I'll try and resolve the situation.

Hope to see you all Sunday!

Note: Sull Girls location test is very likely to take place during these tournaments. We are also working on possibly having a more permanent station for the SG Alpha build in the future. Keep posted for more details.

Airdashers Anonymous:
A fighting game tournament designed to help cure your addiction. You can only recieve help once you admit that you have a problem.

Hi, my name is Id_asz, and I play airdasher fighting games.

Seriously, though, this is going to be a big tournament. It will be held at FFA (Family Fun Arcade) where we've been doing bi-weeklies for BB, GG and MB for quite some time. The date Dec 19&20th is on a weekend right after Finals (for most colleges) and during Winter Break, so it's the perfect time for us to hold a huge tournament!

Here's the setting:
We'll have 8 fighting games, and 3 Teams over the course of 2 days.

Location:
Family Fun Arcade
10363 Balboa Blvd.
Granada Hills, CA
(818) 360-0419

December 19th & 20th (Sat & Sun)

Day 1:
BlazBlue 3v3 Teams ($3 per entrant, [so $9 per team])
Guilty Gear XX Λ Core 2v2 Teams ($1 per entrant)
Melty Blood Actress Again 2v2 Teams ($1 per entrant)
Eternal Fighter ZERO ($1 to enter)
Fate/Unlimited Codes ($1 to enter)
Twinkle Star Sprites ($1 to enter)

Day 2:
1 match between players; Double Elim bracket.
BlazBlue Singles ($5 to enter)
Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Singles ($3 to enter)
Melty Blood Actress Again Singles ($3 to enter)
Hokuto no Ken ($1 to enter)
Arcana Heart FULL! ($1 to enter)

The times for each game isn't decided yet, but they'll be figured out soon. I'll update this post when we do.

We'll also be holding exhibitions and casuals for each game for those of you who don't know how to play some of these and are interested. I'll personally be teaching players how to play TSS . The most important thing to remember is to bring your own stick! The only games you can count on not having to use your stick will probably be GG and TSS, everything else will need your stick! Games will be on PS2, PS3 and PC so keep that in mind. I only have one stick to lend out, and I'll need it for myself when I play, so try not to count on other people.

Let me go over the rules and info:

BlazBlue: [Possibly Continuum Shift]
BB 3v3 Teams (Day 1): $3 per person
BB Singles (Day 2): $5 per person

Singles:
2/3 matches, Double Elim.
Character changing allowed on loss
There will be a second station on a PS3, that station will be set to arcade style (So no AH's or Bang Install music!)
Infinites are allowed, but not game-breaking glitches (I'm looking at you Rachel!)

Teams:
Pokemon Style (Winner stays, next opponent from that team comes up)
Double Blind selection available on request (and highly encouraged).
You must stick to one character through the whole Team tournament.
No same characters on the same team (So no Nu/Nu/Arakune).

Teams Time: ?:??
Singles Time: ?:??

Guilty Gear XX Λ Core:
GG 2v2 Teams (Day 1): $1 per person
GG Singles (Day 2): $3 per person

Singles:
2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss.
This will take place on the arcade machine within the arcade.
The machine has PS2 ports for those of you who want to play using PS2 controllers (Setup is: □ = Punch; X = Kick; △ = Slash; O = HSlash; R1 = Dust)

Teams:
Pokemon Style (Winner stays, next opponent from that team comes up)
Double Blind selection available on request (and highly encouraged).
You must stick to one character through the whole Team tournament.
No same characters on the same team (So no Baiken/Baiken).

Teams Time: ?:??
Singles Time: ?:??

Melty Blood: Actress Again:
MB 2v2 Teams (Day 1): $1 per person
MB Singles (Day 2): $3 per person

Singles:
2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss; however, you can change moon styles at any time.
This will be on a PS2
Original Mode, Console exclusive characters (Besides Archtype: Earth) are allowed.

Teams:
Pokemon Style (Winner stays, next opponent from that team comes up)
Double Blind selection available on request (and highly encouraged).
You must stick to one character through the whole Team tournament (But you can change moon styles).
No same characters on the same team (even moon styles) (So no C-Ciel/H-Ciel).

Teams Time: ?:??
Singles Time: ?:??

Hokuto no Ken [aka Fist of the North Star]:
HnK Singles (Day 2): $1 per person

2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This might take place on arcade, but don't count on it. It will most likely be on PS2.
Infinites are allowed, but game-breaking glitches are not.

Time: ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament.

Arcana Heart FULL:
AH Singles (Day 2): $1 per person

2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This will be on PS2.
This is AH1, not AH2. AH2's PS2 port is horribly laggy and woefully different from the arcade version.

Time: ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament.

Eternal Fighter ZERO:
EFZ Singles (Day 1): $1 per person

2/3 matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This will be on PC
Version 4.0.2

Time: ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament.

Fate/Unlimited Codes:
F/UC Singles (Day 1): $1 per person

2/3 matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This will be on PS2
Console exclusive characters are allowed.
Glitches/infinites are allowed, just not game-breaking glitches.

Time ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament. I think Soniti volunteered to show people how to play.

Twinkle Star Sprites:
TSS Singles (Day 1): $1 per person

2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This will be on the arcade machine, so now console exclusive character (Marin, I think her name is).
Boss characters are allowed (Dark Ran, Sprites, Mevious and Memory).

Time ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament. I'll be glad to show people how to play this.

-----------------------------------------------------

I have no idea how many people will enter X game. So as a general guide, here's how some things will be played out.

If there are 5 or less people, the tournament will be run Round Robin style.
Pot Split will be (not set in stone):
5 or less people: Winner take all
6-9 people: 75/25%
10-40 people: 70/20/10%
41+ people: 65/20/10/5%

I don't play all these game (I play most of them, though), so if I missed anything in the rules (probably in F/UC and HnK) please let me know so i can correct it.

--------------------------------

Sorry for the lack of response, been crazy busy.

Day 1 (Sat):
MB 2v2 @ 1PM
EFZ @ 1PM
GGXX 2v2 @ 3PM
F/UC @ 3PM
BB 3v3 @ 5PM
TSS @ 5PM

Day 2 (Sun):
MB @ 1PM
HnK @ 1PM
GGXX @ 3PM
AHf @ 3PM

There will also be a separate TvC tournament on the same day (Sat) @ 5:30PM.

FFA is running BB & MBAA bi-weeklies!

You heard right, Melty Blood: Actress Again tournaments once a fortnight!
Thanks to the console release of MBAA, we will be running these tournaments on PS2s (Bring your own controllers!)

There is a similar thread discussion posted on dustloop.com

Location:
Family Fun Arcade
10363 Balboa Blvd.
Granada Hills, CA 91344
(818) 360-0419

Next tourney up!

Sunday, November 8th:

BlazBlue, Melty Blood, Guilty Gear and Twinkle Star Sprites:
MBAA: 1PM $3 per person
GGAC: 1PM $1 per person
BB: 5PM $5 per person
TSS: 5PM $1 per person

Rules:
MBAA:

This will take place on PS2s so be ready to bring your own controllers.
Console exclusive characters will be allowed with the exception of Archetype: Earth.
The game setting will be Original type.
Character counter-picks are allowed on loss.
Switching moon types is allowed each match.

GGAC:
2/3 Matches Double Elim
Arcade cabinet only.
The cabinet has PS2 ports set for default PS2 controls ( □ = Punch; X = Kick; Δ = Slash; O = H-Slash; R1 = Dust)
Character counter-picks are allowed on loss.
Bring your quarters for the machine, it won't be on free-play, so FFA won't take any cut.

BB:
2/3 Matches Double Elim
This will take place on the arcade cabinet and PS3s (if we have a large amount of entrants). Be prepared to bring your own PS3 controller.
For PS3 matches, the game must be set to Arcade mode, so no extra Astral Heats for other characters or awesome Bang install music.
Character counter-picks are allowed on loss.
If you would prefer to play/not play on a PS3 let me know and I'll make sure you play on arcade/PS3 only (as much as possible).
Please bring your own joysticks for the PS3 setup! I have one to lend out, but not two.

TSS:
2/3 Matches Double Elim
This will be on the MAME 1000 games in 1 machine. This means that lag will be different than the original version.
All characters including secret characters are allowed.
Bring quarters!

If you have any questions let me know, I'll try and answer them.

See you there!

No Teams are planned, but we can hold one after if there's a demand for it.

Melty Blood Act Cadenza:
Singles:
Time: 6PM
Price: $3 per person

The version at the arcade is vB1. However, we can set up computers with the game on it on some of our console screens, which would look sweet. I have PS2-to-USB converters, so bring your PS2 sticks.

Twinkle Star Sprites:
Singles:
Time: 5PM
Price: $3 per person

Never played TSS? Try it out, it's a versus shmup and it totally kicks ass!

All games will be double elimination 2/3 matches.

Because of the large line-up I absolutely have to have some volunteers to help me run the tournaments. I can't run 2/3 tournaments at once. Also, if anybody is willing to bring in your consoles for any of the games listed (PS3 for BB, PS2 for GG, PC for MB) it would be greatly appreciated and help make the tournament go faster.

Also, if anybody wants to hold a tournament for another game, let me know and we can plan something out; as long as you're willing to run it there shouldn't be any problem.

If you have any questions let me know, I'll be glad to answer.

Regional Community / FFA MB (and other airdashers: BB, GG, AH) Scene!
« on: April 27, 2009, 01:29:10 AM »
The FFA Airdasher scene has been picking up a lot recently. Mostly due to BlazBlue and our recovering Melty Blood board (raised from the dead!).

Current Melty Blood version is:
Melty Blood Act Cadenza ver. B1, working on getting Actress Again.
Also working on getting the PS2 ports on the cabinet working as well, for all you pad players.

Guilty Gear XX Λ Core:
PS2 ports working

BlazBlue:
Big-ass HD TV
Bi-weekly tournaments going on

I've been teaching a lot of people how to play MB, so our fanbase is growing quite rapidly for that. I'm sending a few of them over here, too.

I'm always playing at FFA, so come on by if you want a challenge (for BB), or an easy win (for MB).

BlazBlue & Melty Blood: Act Cadenza ver. B Tournament

Date: Sunday May 3rd

Time:
BB: Starts at 5PM (sign-ups start at 4:30)
MB: Starts at 8PM (sign-ups start after BB tournament)

Price:
$5 per tournament
(Because BlazBlue is free play on event mode, some portion of the BB entry fee will be taken from the pot).

Location:
Family Fun Arcade
10363 Balboa Blvd.
Granada Hills, CA 91344
(818) 360-0419

We got our Melty Blood board all fixed up and it's running fine here. It's on a Japanese cabinet with all Sanwa parts. The PS2 ports aren't working yet, but we might fix that in the future (we're searching for a specific kind of harnessing that we're missing).

The version is still Melty Blood Act Cadenza ver. B, We're planning on getting Actress Again, but I can't give any sort of estimate as to when we'll get it. There's already been some decent play for MB:AC, and I've been teaching newbies how to play (I have a printed movelist near the machine, too if you want to learn).

I saw a couple of people leave before our BB tournament last week (I think it's because they saw the competition). Tournaments are about having fun in a way that you can't during casual matches. Just relax and enjoy it even if you get your ass handed to you >.<

I've been playing Guilty Gear a lot since ΛC+ came out on PS2, I think some other people have gotten back into it because of that too. If we get some requests for it I might start adding GGΛC tournaments to our bi-weekly BB tournaments.

P.S: I'm up for any challengers at Twinkle Star Sprites take me on whenever if you can /evilgrin

EDIT: This is a copy from posts on other sites, that's why it has stuff about teaching people how to play MB. If you want to learn how to play BB, there's a movelist, etc. near the machine and I'll be glad to show you.
