Regional Community / Northern Singapore aka Memorial Thread #2
« on: May 05, 2008, 01:24:00 AM »
Why are we denied the very thing that has kept us together in these god forsaken streets of Singapore?

We, as a thriving community try to flourish and you people try to keep us down. Just because we all moved to Singapore does not mean you all have to hate on us and take away our thread!

We have a scene out here now and just because Spirit Juice is butt hurt because he stayed behind in NorCal and made a very childish post in our new thread does not mean that we should all be punished for it!

The purpose of this forum is to post YOUR region, and within the region thread. . .

Please think this over carefully and consider the ramifications of your actions. Many of us have left this website completely because of this outrage.

I hope that we can come to an understanding in the near future and I sincerely hope that we can have our place on these boards, the place we called "home", returned to us. :fap: :fap: :fap:

Thank you and we look forward to hearing your response

Kohaku's Video Room / Slightly Higher Quality Youtube Videos
« on: March 22, 2008, 12:58:45 AM »
Apperently Youtube will be adding some sort of high/low quality toggle switch in the near future.

I just happened to stumble across what I guess could be considered a beta version of that system. In order to raise the quality of any Youtube video all that needs to be done is to add &fmt=18 after the url of the video you want enhanced and hit enter. What this basically does is ups the sound and video quality of the Youtube movie a moderate amount and adds a link under the video now asking if you want to raise or lower the quality of the video. This link does not work as of yet so don't bother clicking it.

Example video:

Akiha's Tea Room / Anime News
« on: September 20, 2007, 04:33:36 PM »
I'm kinda tired of starting new threads for discussions of the random anime news that I post here so I decided to start a thread where I can throw everything instead of cluttering the forums with a bunch of random topics.

To start things off:

Unfortunate happenings in broadcast anime 2007

Taken from HeiseiDemo:

09/21 Update: Code Geass, Gigantic Formula, Lucky Star, Xenoglossia, Hayate, Robi to Kerobi, Nantsuiro Drops, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, Arts Vision / I’m Enterprise, Anime Expo 2007

Moon Phase Diary today compiled a list of the unfortunate happenings that have plagued broadcast anime in 2007, from the resignation of a Gainax producer following some misplaced Mixi comments to the recently cancelled final episode of School Days. The full *updated* list is below:

RGB Adventure: Due to circumstances of the production company the show was unable to continue broadcast and was terminated after the sixth episode.

Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!: Due to complaints about the scenes of school graffiti in the OP they were altered in mid-production.

Tenpou Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi: The production side assumed the show would run for a full year and planned it accordingly, but the broadcast side cut it after half its expected run.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: A producer and member of Gainax’s executive board resigned from the board and participation in the project due to comments about fans on 2ch that he posted on his Mixi diary. Also, due to risque elements in episode six part of the episode was replaced by a recap sequence.

Code Geass: Due to production delays and the insertion of recap episodes, the broadcast of the final two episodes was postponed for three months.

Kissdum: Due to internal strife the director left the project, later to return as its general manager. Due to failure of the production schedule the fourth episode was made into a recap.

Darker Than Black: The show’s production manager ran away with the manuscript.

Gigantic Formula: Character designer Yabuno Kouji abandoned work on the project before the completion of the first episode or the OP animation.

Lucky Star: The director was changed mid-broadcast. Also, the depiction of Washimiya shrine in the show caused strife among shrine pilgrims.

Idol Master Xenoglossia: Broadcast was abruptly terminated in the Tokai region of Honshu. Later resumed on Chuukyou (Nagoya) TV.

Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica: The show’s organizational flow deteriorated mid-run due to the sudden death of the chief director.

Hayate no Gotoku!: The episode broadcast order was changed due to the hospitalization of Hayate seiyuu Shiraishi Ryouko.

Robi to Kerobi: When it was discovered that Atena’s seiyuu Tsuji Nozomi was pregnant, she ceased her work on the project and from episode 16 the role was switched to another seiyuu.

Bokurano: The director caused an uproar by publicly announcing his dislike for the original manga.

Sola: Chiba TV mistakenly broadcast episode 4 at the wrong screen size, resulting in a rebroadcast the following week.

Nantsuiro Drops: Notification that someone from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare had edited the show’s Wikipedia article became a topic of conversation.

Seto no Hanayome: AX-X canceled its broadcast of episode 17 due to copyright infringement concerns.

Moetan: Episode three was exchanged with episode six, but still deemed unfit for broadcast it was replaced with a recap episode.

Kekkaishi: Its broadcast slot was changed due to poor ratings.

Touka Gettan: Due to BS Asahi’s judgement the broadcast of episode 25 was postponed, to be aired censored a week later along with episode 26.

Romeo x Juliet: The vocalist of the show’s first ending theme was arrested for involvement in a violent incident.

School Days: Due to the content of the final episode mirroring a recent actual event, its broadcast was voluntarily suspended.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai: The show’s broadcast on Tokai TV was suspended due to recent events mirroring scenes in the show.

Also:

- Anik Inc.’s adult anime brand Himajin closed operations on June 30th due to lack of production infrastructure and capacity.

- The president of Arts Vision / I’m Enterprise talent agency was arrested on charges of obscene conduct toward a 16 year old aspiring voice actress.

- Deficient sound engineering at Anime Expo 2007 concerts along with other poor handling of the Japanese guests became a topic of conversation.

This isn’t even to mention the shitstorm on the horizon in the form of the Kodomo no Jikan anime, which at a talk show commemorating the release of the manga’s 4th volume was speculated to become a “tempest of censorship”. The script for all twelve episodes has been hammered out, but who knows in what form they’ll ultimately be broadcast… (source: Moon Phase Diary)[/i]

Tournaments and Events / 9/22 SJSU Melty Blood Tournament "73cm Cup"
« on: September 11, 2007, 10:42:05 PM »
So, we are eleven days out from the 22nd and I've heard absolutely no talk about the San Jose Tourney that is supposedly planned. Given that were so close to the tourney date, even though I'm not planning it (To my knowledge at least :V) I have decided to get our tourney thread going to breathe life into this topic.

So anyone who knows what's going on with this throw down some hard info if you will. Also it wouldn't hurt if everyone planning to go chimed in so we can get a feel for how many people are still planning to attend.

Akiha's Tea Room / Arcana Heart PS2 Version?
« on: September 04, 2007, 07:47:51 PM »
So apparently there's going to be a ported version of Arcana Heart for the PS2 released on 10/11 from Ecole Software (For those of you out of the loop it's the same people who ported MBAC)

Somehow I get the feeling that I'm quite a few months late in finding out about this but I was just curious to know who's going to jump all over this when it comes out?

EDIT: I just found a good reason for people to switch to stick.

Melty Blood Auditorium / MBAC arcade single player messages?
« on: August 27, 2007, 07:24:52 PM »
So I came across this at Akihabara Channel today:

"I actually found out something new while playing Melty Blood today. When you press the start button while you are playing 1 player, the words above your life bar changes from “Beginner practicing,” “Practicing combo,” “Testing out stuffs,” “Accepting challenges,” “Strong challengers are welcome!” and “Challengers, please be nice”."

This is the first I've ever heard of it so I was wondering if anyone here was aware of this feature as well?

Akiha's Tea Room / DDD
« on: August 13, 2007, 08:07:38 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has been following Decoration Disorder Disconnection. (Kinoko Nasu's most recent work) I've heard it was pretty good and volume two just came out so I've been hunting around for a translated version of them. Considering that their novels I don't know how likely it is that I'm going to be able to find them though...

Akiha's Tea Room / MBAC menu in English?
« on: August 13, 2007, 01:52:27 PM »
So I have been wondering about this for a while now. Why is the MBAC PC menu in English? I don't actually remember if the MBAC PS2 version is the same way but I found it odd that they switched from having their menus in Japanese like they did in MB and ReACT to a full English menu. It's not that I'm complaining about it, I just found it odd.
