Akiha's Tea Room / Guys?! In my Idolmaster?! GTFO!
« on: October 02, 2010, 07:37:44 PM »
Just kidding. I thought it's a rather refreshing addition to have some guys in the game. However, a group of Idolmaster otakus clearly aren't pleased about this since Ami, Azusa, Ritsuko and Iori (good fucking riddance, I don't care if you are voiced by Kugimiya Rie, your character is piss poor unpopular) are going to be removed and be placed as NPCs while the three BSB-wannabe guys are going in as new additions.

Personally, I feel that it's a really bad move by Namco Bandai to even reduce the four Idols to NPC status. Adding a trio of guys on top of them just serves to rub salt into the wound. I know about the issue of limited disc space on a DVD, but in the worst-case scenario, they'll just have to make it a multi-disc game, won't they? Anyway, see for yourself, Alice or Guilty, Project Jupiter's debut song.

Akiha's Tea Room / Anti-spambot test page encountered.

I rebooted my connection just as I was visiting MB and this page appeared. Nice.  :psyduck:

I understand what are frames all about, but I got a little lost when I noticed certain moves for each character was, as written, +frames, or said to give frame advantage (C-Akiha 236C, for instance). How do you capitalize on the frame advantage acquired?

It seems to work a little more differently in MB than your standard super meter in SF or MvC. At least it does to me, but does it really? I noticed that my damage drops about a few hundred when I combo from 0% meter as opposed to 100% or more.

Akiha's Tea Room / Impatience and zoning in MBAA
« on: May 02, 2010, 04:36:08 AM »
I consider myself an average player who had more or less grasped the mechanics of MB since MBR, the first game of the series I've played. However, having little experience facing off against decent human players (roughly 90% of my playtime is against AI), I was destroyed 1-3 when I pit myself against an average C-Warc recently. It's only then I realized that my level of play is still shallow and I have to step it up.

His approach was semi turtle-style - playing keep away with aerial bloodrings (which I tend to run into all of the time, damn) and pulling off a combo or EX-bloodring whenever he sees an opening. I'm also the unfortunate victim of Warc's arc drive-and-block cheese. A few minutes into the match and having lost nearly half my health and unable to find an opening through all those bloodrings, I began to feel frustrated and ended up losing the round. It's then I realised throwing random projectiles/attacks and being unpredictable is an important aspect in stepping up my game. I'm still sore about being clobbered, but looking at it from another perspective I'm also gaining versus play experience at the same time.

C-Warc easily zoned me using bloodrings. My main and sub are C-Akiha and F-WLen respectively. What are the zoning tools they have at hand that can keep an opponent at bay and/or instill fear in them?

Personally, I find it difficult to differentiate between the two.

Akiha's Tea Room / Character orientation
« on: November 27, 2009, 05:17:15 PM »
By character orientation, I meant when your character on-screen is facing right as player 1 and vice versa.

This thought came to me recently when I re-watched a couple of my own replays. I have the tendency to go to the left of my opponent whenever possible as I'm more familiar with inputting my buttons and directions from there. I mess up a little more when I do button inputs from the opposite end. This might be a potential weakness that future opponents can exploit, I don't know.  :mystery:

Are you more familiar and better as player 1 or player 2, or do you have no problems with regards to your character orientation at all?

Some if not most of you should have known about this doujin fighter some time ago. This game, made using fighter maker 2nd, stands out among the rest with it's great artwork, cast and system. Best of all, this is 100% free!

Currently maining Kurumi  :psyduck:

Thanks to bellreisa, I got to know about this game. This is a new doujin fighter brought to us by the people who made Big Bang Beat.

I played it recently and I must say it's pretty damn neat despite the small roster of 8 (?) characters. Graphics wise, the character designs are quite good and the sprites are really well done, too.

Currently maining Tamara (Sol clone lol)  :psyduck:

From what I know, it appears two visual novel companies (Lass, makers of 11eyes, and Rosebleu, the makers of Stellar Theater) are collaborating to make this awesome looking 2D fighting game. My mind is officially blown.

I'll probably be maining Yuka on the Lass side.  :toot:

EDIT: Then again... I hope it's not another April Fools joke. I discovered this only today, I don't know when exactly is it posted.

Recently, I just purchased a 1 terabyte Western Digital external HDD because I am in desperate need for space on my laptop. I was thinking, what would happen if I decide to install games on it and run it directly off the HDD? Would performance take a hit?

Additionally, any tips of taking care of this black brick to prevent any data loss or whatever?

13
After a few rounds of fighting game action, my left hand (usually used for the D-Pad or the analog) will begin to ache like hell. I can still play, but my performance becomes drastically reduced with the aching. How do you deal with it in such a situation? Does being seasoned with a pad increase your stamina?

The Hadron Collider was activated and the first two particle beams were successfully circulated around it's tracks. A little old, but considering no one had really discussed anything about the world's largest physics experiment here...  :V

Hopefully there won't be a resonance cascade.  :psyduck:

Akiha's Tea Room / 11eyes - Sin, damnation and the atonement girl

(BOTTOM HALF OF THE PAGE IS NSFW)
http://www.lass.jp/product/11eyes/index.html

I ordered this VN off Himeyashop a few weeks ago and it arrived about a week later. I discovered it through one of my Stepmania simfiles, which was the opening of this VN. It's probably one of those VNs which barely anyone knows.

It's a pretty good VN with a great cast and really nice artwork. The plot is decent and it's really worth the purchase.

Are "popular, talented and hot senior schoolmate" archetypes common in VNs?

Any recommendations, especially from you PSP fanatics out there? What are the must-owns?

I just got the PS2 port yesterday, and randomly picked Fiona just because she's a maid with a blade. Ugh, she was difficult and slow as all hell to use. Strategies, please?  :psyduck:

Also, any tips of beating the final boss with Fiona?

Akiha's Tea Room / How do you bait an opponent into a counter super?
« on: April 24, 2008, 07:21:54 PM »
MB has no counter supers I know of, but for other fighting games like KOF, is it possible to bait your enemy to hit you (a human opponent) when you're using a counter super (supers that activate when an enemy hits you)? Or are they just too impractical for usage at all?

Akiha's Tea Room / How did you come across/know about Melty Bread?
« on: March 19, 2008, 02:30:18 AM »
It was pretty darn long ago so my memory of it was pretty fuzzy. I think was looking for a way to Netplay MB when this website turned up on Google. I lurked for a while before finally registering on the forums.  :V

Sorry for asking for more terminology, I don't exactly get what those are.

Akiha's Tea Room / How is IaMP played?
« on: December 16, 2007, 01:23:55 AM »
I'm playing on story mode as Patchouli, my first opponent was Marisa - after shooting at her for quite a while, she activates a spellcard, which supposedly is some unlimited super move that she can use on me over and over and over.  :psyduck: :psyduck: After using a continue, i killed her , then she gets up and activates another spellcard, and I went, "wtf, this is rigged".

I can't activate my spellcard either - the command list states that it's 236D, but Patchouli just does a forward dash when you input the command.

How the heck is this game played  :psyduck: :psyduck: :psyduck:
