for both Baltimore and NYC alike it stops at 4th and Market st. in Wilmington... i can pick you up from the train station

For philly cats:

you can take the R2 Train to Wilmington, DE and i can pick up from wilmington train station, the thing about the R2 is it doesn't run into wilmington on sundays so i would have to take you up on monday

for those who are cheap asses or can't afford to get food.. my roomate doesn't mind to cook.. there also fairly nice resturants and food shops since we are in the middle of the University of DE

so hope to see some cats make it.. if you can't i understand... hope to see ya around..

i wanted to make a thread for those looking for games in between the Philly/Delaware area.

basically i wanted to make one so we can start setting up future gatherings.. so cats don't have to travel ETA 2 1/2 hours to NYC to get decent comp...

bascially here what's going down

In Delaware.. im starting to get a couple cats to get into melty.. they don't post much but we have friday night gatherings for fgs ( PM if intrested for an address) and im looking to keep melty in the mix

there is also a gamerdoc venue that is starting to host shit in Bear,DE  on thursday nights.. they do tournies that night but they also don't mind people running they own setups.. here's the address for them:

Gamerdoc 1132 Pulaski Highway Bear, DE

im looking to see if we can possibly run some melty tournies here so that's why i've been trying to get cats in DE on da melty..

lastly i want to dedicate this for future gatherings either in philly or Delaware (esp when i get my own place.. stay tuned for that)

so hopefully peeps answer the call..

(FINAL ROUND)XII "The HYPE Continues!"

Right now (FINAL ROUND) is "Sponsered by ShinBlanka, and all of his friends around the ATL South community"

Date: March 13-15 ,2009

Location: Same location as the past 3 years. I was going to change venues, but I decided to add an extra day to help with the crowding by spreading out the games over 3 days!

Holiday Inn - Atlanta
Northeast/Doraville
2001 Clearview Avenue
Atlanta, Ga. 30340

Phone: (770)455-3700

This is a EMS/DigitalFrontier Phat Production

Small disclaimer just like last year:
"OK PEOPLE I MADE THIS THREAD 10 MONTHS BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT IS SUPPOSE TO BE THROWN! I HOPE THIS IS ENOUGH WARNING NOT TO PUT ANOTHER MAJOR TOURNAMENT DURING OR AROUND THE SAME DATE AS (FRXI)!"

1st of all, I would like to thank all of the people that support the FR tournaments for the past 12 years and support the ATL South scene before if was even call the ATL South division when you attend FR3-FR5. I've met so many people over the past 12 years of running FR. My dreams of having a major tournament in the southeast region has come true and it couldn't have happend without you guy's supporting the FR tournaments back in the day.

Alot of people in the ATL South don't get the chance to travel around the nation to play against top players, so FR is an outlet for them to play the best in the southeast and hopefully other regions top players will come down to the dirty south. With the help of the community supporting (Final Round) every year it has grown into one of the best tournaments in the usa! The history of FINAL ROUND is based on the"Console Warriors" style tournament.

But with me growing up learning to play fighters in the arcades. I've always want to keep that old school tournament feeling with FR tournaments. That's why we have some old school capcom games that will be played only on an arcade cabinet at Final Round. We can't forget our roots and I won't let people forget how we use to get down and dirty! We will have atleast 3-4 arcade cabinets on games that the console version are truly not worth playing on a tournament level.

Games like ST, A2, VS, and A3 will be in arcade cabinets some having Perfect 360's joysticks, Sanwa's japanese sticks, and other's having 8 way standard switch joysticks. The arcade cabinets are donated by different players in the southeastern community. I really appreciate all of the support from those that always help out me and the southeast scene. I will put a star(*) by the games that will be on the cabinet's and the rest will be on console.

There is a entry fee that is separate from the entry fee to each tournament. FRXII entry fee is "$30". (This fee is to pay for the VENUE fee, BADGES, NEW JOYSTICKS AND BUTTONS FOR ARCADE MACHINES, and FRXII PIMP CUPS) Like always say I need FRXII to pay for itself.

OFFICIAL SIGN UP'S FOR BADGES START AT 9:30AM ON MARCH 13, 2009!

unofficial sign up's will be on Thursday March 12, 2009 around 9pm like we did for frxi the day before the event.

The extra day was added to FR because people wanted to run team tournaments during main tournament times. This held up some of the tournaments due to people playing in multiple single and team tournaments! Adding the extra day will solve a lot of tournament conflicts imo.

The games, how much, and the days that will be played are as followed:

Rules: All game Double Elim.--Best 2 out of 3

On all console tournament games:

This is a (B.Y.O.C. = Bring Your Own Controller/converter or Joystick) tournament for all of the console games being played at FRXI. You are responsible for your equipment and we will not supply anyone with a controller or converter at this tournament for any console tournament. I won't supply anymore converter's for finalround. I'm tired of getting my stuff stolen by some people that don't have any home trainning.

If you hit the start button or a malfunction in your equipment happens during a
match that makes the game pauses or resets during a tournament match get the head judge in charge of running that tournament to decide what will happen next for that match. Replays are automatic if it's at the beginning of the match and you have played 5-10 seconds in the game with no one having an advantage in the match. It's not my problem if "YOUR STICK" malfunction's during a tournament. I WILL BE THE FINAL SAY ON ANY PROBLEMS THAT MY TOURNAMENT JUDGES CAN'T RESOLVE!

I have had alot of email's about "button shouldering/mapping" in certain genre of games. I don't believe in them due to me growing up playing 2d fighters in the arcade's. I want to keep FinalRound as close to arcade perfect as I can, but this isn't the way that most namco 3d players view button shouldering gameplay. So I came up with this solution:

"Button shouldering" will "NOT" be allowed at FRX in the following games:

All capcom 2d fighters, Tekken6, and all snk fighters

(THAT MEANS IF YOU RESET YOUR BUTTONS YOU MUST PUT THE DEFAULT MULTI-BUTTONS ON BLANK!!!) So that mean you won't have your 3xkick button, or 3xpunch button. This applies to snk games also. Any default presets that are NOT like the arcade set up are not allowed. If you don't have a 3x punch or kick button in the arcade then you won't use it at FRX! We are trying to make it as close to arcade type tournament as possible and NO button mapping the traditional way to play capcom and snk games IMO. I don't care where you put them on your controler/joystick but you should only have the following buttons input's for the following games:

Melty Blood
computer/laptops

Winner keeps the same character. The loser can choose a new character.
The 'Q' button is allowed, but no other combinations are tournament legal! No button mapping.

Any Team Tournament rules: You "CAN NOT" have 2 people using the same character on your team. So you better make your team wisely.

If you are playing in multiple games you need to notify a organizer when you are about to play in another game, so they can skip your match on the brackets and come back to you after you completed the other tournament match.

Also once the tournament starts you are responsible for knowing when your next match will come up. If you have to go for a food or bathroom break, then "PLEASE" notify the judge at your station or "me" that you will be gone for a few minutes. The judge should beable to tell you when your next game will be and how long you have before your next match up. Just act like you have been to a tournament before people and everything will run smoothly.

Anyone that get's out of line inside or outside of the hotel will force me to call the police on you. Keep that "B.S." online or at home. I don't care where you keep it just don't bring that drama to FRXII. Act like you have some home training people. I don't want to break up any more arguements over dumb stuff!

I have 50 rooms reserved for people/groups that are attending FRXII. We need these rooms sold for that weekend since the hotel was nice enough to hold those rooms at a reduced rate for everyone attending FRXII. So if you are reserving a ROOM at the hotel for FINAL ROUND, MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE HOTEL STAFF YOU ARE WITH THE FINAL ROUND GROUP We have a discounted rate set up for you guys, just like we did last year. When you call up the hotel, don't just say you want to reserve a room, say you want to reserve a room for FINAL ROUND. The 2 queen size beds in 1 room are $89.99 when you tell them your with the Finalround group. If you have 4 people that would be only $22.25 each day for the hotel room.

I'm working on a tv sponsership, but if anyone is willing to bring a tv+system I WILL PAY for your badge! You can never have too many tv's+systems imo at a console tournament! Make sure they aren't TV's with lag. You maybe use to playing on them, but if they have lag I can't use them due to everyone will complain playing on them! We will test them out before we give you the badge.

I can't wait to see you guy's again. I'm already hyped! Better practice up and tighten up your skills because FRXII will be here before you know it shawty.

I Only saw 8 people signed up.. i know it's still long ways.. but come on people.. help support my man larry.. and let's get MB rolling at majors as well...  NEC is like third most popular right now.. so i feel it should only be right that Melty can hit the top of the list...

Shiki Tohno / MBAA Tohno: WE GOT BLOCKSTRINGS!!!
« on: October 26, 2008, 01:26:08 AM »
hiyas Tohno players.. i figure i get it started with MBAA tohno... in alot ways.. he's gotten alot better in this version... lots of new stuff and tools that finally he can use... i felt in MBAC... he just didn't have the blockstrings..and good AA.. but he has quite few..

anyways..

Half-Moon Tohno: Half Tohno is a fucking monster..everything that Tohno needs.. is pretty much in this style..

5a- same as MBAC

6aa- one of the new moves shiki got...first 6a shiki does and elbow.. seems pretty safe on block.. so it looks like you can continue blockstrings and such... the second 6a does and pushing slash into the opponet..  seems to be even so you could possiblity bait the opponet (ie. iad jc or shield the 2a)...seems to randomly end you up on the other for some reason.. it knocks up.. and that point they can't air recover.. and tohno can recover fast enough land 2b, 5bb into the combo.. you can also jump cancel on hit.. so the possiblity of big damage could be endless (meaning so many ways to make big damage with it..

5B- same as MBAC, i don't think you can charge the second one in this style

5C- the same as it was in MBAC. no real changes here

6C- prolly one of the best moves they gave shiki... pretty fucking good range.. the hitbox is pretty insane.. it stays out for long ass time... does move you foward a bit.. so it  can work as your AA as well (becuase of the hitbox and moving foward) is chargeable.. the charge seems like is and overhead... decent adv. (at least in canceling.. although i haven't been hit out of any move i did after doing .. this of course i was doing 2a)

2a- same as MBAC.. nothing new

2b- same as MBAC.. but instead of two hits.. it does one.. it does hit low i believe.. need to confirm more..

2c- i feel this got a wider hitbox... also pretty good for getting underneath air moves.. still quick as shit like it was in MBAC

J.a- pretty much his MBAC j.a except it hits downward.. which is prolly really decent for coming down on top of an opponet

j.b- shiki does a kick.. does one hit.. seems to have decent priority and might have crossup capabilty (what? crossups in melty?)

j.C- same as MBAC.. although i did notice that the hitbox seems to extend further than his leg...which gives a bit more deception.. also cannot be charged

22a- shiki does the nanaya pose (nanaya's startup pose in 22a,b, or c in MBAC) and does a sidekick.. seems safe on block .. can be charged..charged seems to be and overhead

22b- same as above except instead of the sidekick.. he dashes.. can go behind the oppononet if close enough

22c- same as above except.. shiki goes for a throw.. the throw however can be comboed.. after throw ..2c,5c combo.. seems unreliable though.. simply walking backwards cancels the throw :(

623 a,b, and c- same as MBAC.. no differnence i can tell

236 a,b, and C- same as MBAC.. no changes except for 236C.. safe on block.. also knocksdown on the second hit.. seems very useful in certain situations..

214 a,b, and c- same as MBAC..

Combos- pretty much with his combos do some pretty nasty stuff.. and the timing of this stuff doesn't seem stressful at all.. right now the only bnb i can think of that's truly basic is

2aa,5C,6C,2C,5BB, 5a (whiff), jbc, dj bc

jC 5C 6C 5A 6AA iad jC 2B 5BB 2a(whiff) jC djBjC airthrow  (hard shit lol)

j.c . i5C,6C,5a,6aa,2B, 5BB, 2A (whiff), jbc, dj bc

that's pretty much the standard combo im doing and what japs have been doing.. although im sure you could find other variations of it

Blockstrings- tohno has some decent ass blockstrings.. also with his air dash covering more ground...he's pretty lethal

some of the blockstrings i manage to try usually work around 5C, 6C, 2C(not in that order) 5C stays out a good while.. so it can allow some delayed strings.. 6C being chargable can delay up your strings into 2C.. also on 6C.. im dead serious on its hitbox... like things that it shouldn't hit.. hit.. the move just has a hitbox that seems to reach out further from his shoulder and body in general.. also canceling into 22a is not bad eicther.. since 22a seems generally safe...it's kind of like of Nanaya.. you can mix in match your blockstrings in whatever fashion... also note that you cancel some of the strings into 236C (which is safe) but keep in mind you want that meter since your in half...

Full Moon Tohno- i kindae like the idea of his shit.. he's weird.. all his moves are different..like literally.. and his specials are change dramatically.. but he's definetely intresting (NOT to mention pretty powerful)

5a- short elbow.. very low range... so i would maybe recommend for aa maybe.. pointless imo.. since you can't rebeat.. almost seems like it could've worked somewhere else

5b- backhanded fist.. has decent range.. but i haven't really messed with it .. i will check it out more in future terms

6b- shiki extends his fist in the air.. seems like a good aa.. i didn't find this out until i left cf.. but it looks like decent aa though..

5C- big ass roundhouse... moves him foward.. although it dosent seem safe...

2a-crouching elbow... seems okay.. but the range seems mad short...:(

2b- shiki elbows as he moves foward... can close the distance and also to setup for combos easier

2C- shiki's old sweep.. but looks alot slower.. which i have no idea why they would do that..

j.a- jumping knee.. seems to have decent hitbox.. will need to test this out further

j.b- shiki punches downward... seems to be great when over the top of someone.. hitbox seems decent although it's hiting towards the ground...

j.C- a big ass slash attack..  i feel this goes as far as wara's J.B (sorry if i mistaken it) hitbox on this seems really good.. although has a pretty slow startup

22,a,b,c -all do the same thing as in H

236, a,b- shiki does pretty much nanaya 236 spiecals.. the only thing i can tell is it does less hits.. haven't tried to super it yet.. will test it out

623 abc- a tiger knee in every sense of the word- a version.. goes vertically more, b version.. goes horizantal more.. C version.. kicks the person to the wall .. don't count the invincability on this one guys.. both a and b version dosen't have any.. only is the c (super version)... however... it's more used in combos.. since you can cancel the knee into a jumping attack ... so can do shit like... 2a,2b, 5C, 623 B, J.c land. then possibly could do another dp after that... looks very promising...

combos

2A,2B,5C, 236B,Jc, land, J.B, J.C, Dj J.b, J.c, airthrow

that's pretty much the standad for now.

blockstrings... only thing i can think of on the top of my head is.. 2a 2b, 5c and then mixing 22 series or 236 a or b.. although dp.. seems to crossup a little bit

Crescent Tohno- Tohno seems roughly the same as MBAc tohno in this verison.. pretty much the normals seem the same... the only difference i see is the dp in the air..dp on the ground (you do 236 a in the air.. you only get one hit) you dp again to get the second hit.. but i think you air throw after the first one... also dp super in the air.. other than that.. not much else has change... but if you guys want to check some shit out feel free to let me know

also if someone might be able translate this... that would be great... cuse i have no idea.. .thanks to noobers
