Tournaments and Events / Anime Weekend Atlanta needs melty players.

Anime Weekend Atlanta(aka AWA) is one of the biggest general anime/video game events in the southeast.  A melty tournament is being considered but turnout for this event could effect the possibility of any future melty tournaments at AWA.

The event is held in Atlanta, GA.  If any of you melty players in the southeast are actually alive then come to this event.  Support the MBAC community and have some fun while your at it.

NetPlay Community / NetPlay Tournament #3

Hi, SWP here.  I hope you all enjoyed yesterdays tournament. Thanks to LordPangTong for all his hard work.  He really did a good job in a difficult situation.  We had some issues with the brackets last time but this time I intend to handle them myself.  I think i have the whole bracket making thing down now and if all goes as planned there will be a preliminary bracket posted the day before the tournament.  Things will be set up so that adjustments can be made quickly and easily and we can get everything started on time. 

I expect that LordPangTong will be helping out again this time and r_o_m_c will also be joining the staff.  Edit: Jen will be staff aswell.

1.) Starting date- Saturday March the 1st at 9:00pm eastern standard time. all participants must be in the room using the nick they signed up with by 8:30pm  The tournament will be fast paced and finished in one night.

2.) Location- I may change but as of now it will be held in tesujisnetplayroom on irc.pyoko.org again.

3.) Tournament Format- best 2 of three matches. The finals will be best 3 of 5. double elimination. you can only switch characters if you lose.

4.) Brackets- LordPangTong thinks the tournament should be pretty much totally random as long as delays are less than 7.  Personally i believe some concessions should be made for netplay. by that i mean adjusting the brackets according to location so that east and west coast players do not fight much until the later rounds(i did this in the first tournament). Since we disagree i ask that anyone with an opinion on this matter tell me what they think when they register.

5.) Disagreements, problems, Desyncs and the like will be handled by myself, LordPangTong, romc and Jen. All matches with a delay of 7 or above will most likely be switched.

6.) Prizes- There will be a prize of at least $40 for the winner of the tournament.

Here are some preliminary brackets.  Tell me if there are any problems with them. i wont be suprised if there are. The Winners bracket is on top. then the losers bracket.  I was getting pretty tired and lazy by the time i drew the losers bracket so if it it looks like a random jumble of lines thats probably because it is.  EDIT- in case anyone is concerned ill be editing the brackets a little so people dont wind up fighting the same people in losers that they just fought in winners.

Registration is still open and will be until i say otherwise. ill probably cut it off at midnight on friday but if you want to show in the room on saturday by 8:30pm est ill probably add you in.  Edit: registration is closed. if you still want to participate show up 30 minutes before the tournament starts and i should be able to fit you in.

NetPlay Community / Thinking about making a monthly Netplay tourney(or something anyway)

Hi. I saw cloud nine's net play tourny thread and I thought i might make one of my own. don't know much about running tourney's myself. So basically if any of you guys are interested let me know. Also, if you have any advice about the tournament format or anything else or if you want to help out let me know.

if there is any interest here ill try to put something together. maybe we can start an irc channel somewhere and have a monthly online tournament or something like that.

Ok. Tentative tournament details. 



Post here to let us know if you want to join. please include your state of residence in your post. We will meet in tesujisnetplayroom on irc.pyoko.org on the day of the tournament.  you will need an irc program. google mirc if you need one.  if you cant use irc i might pm you about your match or something. actually, anyone who cant use mirc should pm me and include a good way to get in touch with them. (aim, yahoo mesenger, hamachi.)

1.Starting Date- December 29th at 11:00pm Eastern Standard time. oh yea, only the first round on Saturday. second round on Sunday. then we will finish up the next weekend.  We will have several rounds sunday January the 6th.  In case thats not clear enough "January 6th is the last day of the Tournament"

3. Brackets- The pairings for the tournament will be determined randomly. However, since this is a netplay tournament pairings may be adjusted slightly to eliminate the worst of the lag issues. if you have any objections, comments, suggestions about this or anything else please inform me.   
4.lag issues- this is netplay. if your recommended delay in caster is less than 7 then deal with it. (hopefully all delays will be 5 or less. "prays")
5. Disagreements and Problems- If you have a problem or disagreement then talk to me about it. My decisions regarding the tournament are Final. hopefully there wont be too many issues. Assuming none of you have any objections i plan to participate in the tourny myself. because of this a third party will judge any problems regarding my matches. If im not mistaken romc generously agreed to do this.
6. Desyncs- if there is a desync the match will be replayed while i observe. If there are additional connection issues and a resolution cannot be reached i will either decide a winner or allow both players to advance(this is open to debate for the time being.)
7. Prizes- The opportunity to test your skills in a tournament enviorment...... but seriously, theres no prize. maybe next time.
