With the recent news of the fire in Chinatown this week comes even worse news. Chris Hu's family apartment was in one of the buildings. Everything was lost in the fire. SweetJohnnyCage and Bisonopolis are going to make this tournament a Chris Hu fundraiser by donating anything we could possibly make from it. We normally split the venue fee with the venue owner, but this time we're just going to donate all of our cut to Chris to try to help him out. We'll also be having a collection throughout the tournament. All of this will be hand delivered to Chris after the tournament is over.

 let's get together like the great community we are and show Chris how much this community cares for its members. Who's with us?

======3RD STRIKE, ULTIMATE MK3, AND MORTAL KOMBAT 2 HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO PC VERSIONS, NO LONGER CONSOLE!!! PELICAN CONVERTERS WILL BE SUPPLIED FOR STICKS AND CONTROLLERS!!!=====

Hey guys, I'm pretty much coming out of left field with this one, but NEC has put me back in the mood of tournaments. Seeing as how Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6 have reignited the arcade scene (somewhat), I feel that New Yorkers (and the usual out of state crews) should get together one more time at Castle Golf for a tournament before NEC in Decemeber.

Castle Golf
1878 Middle Country Rd
Centereach, NY 11720
(631) 471-1267

I have recently purchased another splitter, this one can split HD signals (while still keeping full quality). Because of this, if someone can provide 2 HD TVs (I know that someone brought them for Smash CFN8), I'll gladly split the signal and have a 2 TV setup for that. If not, we can use it for 3S or whatever gets the most entrants like usual.

Venue fee will be $10 and tournament fees will be $5. If equipment is brought, $5 will be taken off of venue fee. You can no longer enter tournaments for free. I had complaints about pots becoming too small because too many people entered for free.

Rules are subject to change, so PLEASE KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS PAGE FOR UPDATES!!!

The games being played in tournament will be as follows:

    * Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (PC (nFBA Emulator)
    * Soulcalibur 4 (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3)
    * Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (MAME)
    * Guilty Gear XX Accent Core (PS2)
    * Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Nintendo Wii)
    * Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Dreamcast)
    * Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Alpha Anthology PS2)
    * Super Street Fighter II: Turbo (Dreamcast)

The following games will be held as side tournaments

    * Mortal Kombat 2 (MAME)
    * Melty Blood (PC)
    * Akatsuki Blitzkampf (PC)
    * Hokuto no ken (ps2) - I will run this if i have enough people and a TV (regardless i wanna play casuals)

Registration for the first 3 games will start at 12 NOON and the tournaments will begin shortly after 1pm.

Whichever tournament gets more registrants will have 2 setups to ensure that everything runs quickly. Once these tournaments are done, I will begin registration for the other tournaments for 1 hour. Tournaments will begin shortly thereafter. Since only 3 tournaments will be run, I can record one game's Top 8 and burn it onto a DVD for whoever wants to make copies of it. You guys can even use my commentary setup if you wish, have a blast.

Since Castle Golf will be open for business, we will be restricted to the one party area and the outside area. The outside area, weather permitting, will be used for casuals. No tournaments will be run outside due to the possibility of glare. Because of the one room restriction, only 3 or 4 tournaments will be run at a time. Venue registration will be taken at the same time as tournament registration at the front counter by me. Mark is no longer involved with Castle Fight Night anymore. I will personally take registration money for both venue and tournament, compile a list of players in all games, and give the lists to the tournament runners so they can make the brackets.

P.S.
For those of you who are wondering what happened to Castle Fight Night 9, it was run by someone else, but I don't want to confuse people, so I'm just moving onto 10.

See you there!

I would like to say that I'm really happy to see that Long Island is finally growing into a spot where people come from other places for the tournaments. Hopefully this one will be even bigger!

That being said, this event will be run quite differently than the rest. For those of you who don't know, Castle Golf is an arcade/go-kart/mini-golf place which is normally only open from April through October. Some of you may be wondering, "Well, John, then how do you run tournaments during the winter?" It's simple. Lance, the owner of Castle Golf, liked the idea of tournaments so much so that he let me run them during the winter, opening only for the Saturdays that there were tournaments.

Castle Golf's fighting game tournaments started last summer, but weren't nearly as large as they are now. It normally wasn't an issue of running all tournaments at once in the one party area because there weren't as many people. However, now that we've grown nearly tenfold, a change must be made. Here is how it's going to happen:

There will be 6 games at this tournament, just like the last one. One of which, however, is still up for debate. Those 6 games are as follows:

    * Guilty Gear: Accent Core -PlayStation 2- Run by Mike/KayinNasaki

    * Melty Blood: Act Cadenza ver. B -PC-

    * DEBATABLE = Arcana Heart = Super Street Fighter II Turbo

    * Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike -PlayStation 2- Run by me

    * Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 -Xbox 360- Run by Phil/9.95

    * Super Smash Bros. Brawl -Nintendo Wii- Run by Ryan F'N Mead

Venue fee will be $10 and tournament fees will be $5. If equipment is brought, $5 will be taken off of venue fee. You can no longer enter tournaments for free. I had complaints about pots becoming too small because too many people entered for free.

Arcana Heart people, please let me know if you'd like to have another tournament. I know that since AH2 will be out in Chinatown within the next couple of weeks, so I'm not sure if you guys would still want to have a tournament for AH1. PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! If you don't want a tournament, ST will be run in place of it.

Since Castle Golf will be open for business, we will be restricted to the one party area and the outside area. The outside area, weather permitting, will be used for casuals. No tournaments will be run outside due to the possibility of glare. Because of the one room restriction, 3 tournaments will be run at a time. Venue registration will be taken at the same time as tournament registration at the front counter by me. Mark is no longer involved with Castle Fight Night anymore. I will personally take registration money for both venue and tournament, compile a list of players in all games, and give the lists to the tournament runners so they can make the brackets.

The first 3 games will be as follows:

    * Guilty Gear: Accent Core
          o Being run by Mike/KayinNasaki
          o If the turnout is the greatest out of the 3 tournaments being run at this time, 2 setups will be used
          o Standard tournament rules apply
          o Double elimination
          o 2/3 Winners and Losers Brackets, 3/5 Finals for both, 4/7 Grand Finals

    * Melty Blood: Act Cadenza ver. B
          o Being run by Kevin/Zaelar
          o Standard tournament rules apply
          o Double elimination
          o 2/3 Winners and Losers Brackets, 3/5 Finals for both, 4/7 Grand Finals

    * Arcana Heart or Super Street Fighter II Turbo

Registration for the first 3 games will start at 12 NOON and the tournaments will begin shortly after 1pm.

Whichever tournament gets more registrants will have 2 setups to ensure that everything runs quickly. Once these tournaments are done, I will begin registration for the other tournaments for 1 hour. You guys can even use my commentary setup if you wish, have a blast.

The other 3 games will be as follows:

    * Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
          o Being run by SweetJohnnyCage/IcyCool/MEEEEEEEEEEE
          o Standard tournament rules apply
          o Two stations will be active during tournament, converting to a back to back setup for Top 8
          o Double Elimination
          o 2/3 Winners and Losers Brackets, 3/5 Finals for both, 4/7 Grand Finals
          o Top 8 will be recorded once again with commentary by Tinshi and whoever else wants to!

    * Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
          o Being run by Phil/9.95
          o PLEASE NOTE that unlike the previous UMK tournaments at Castle, there might be a $5 entry fee this time!!!
          o Standard tournament rules apply
          o Double elimination
          o 2/3 Winners and Losers Brackets, 3/5 Finals for both, 4/7 Grand Finals

    * Super Smash Bros. Brawl
          o Being run by Ryan "F'N" Mead
          o 3 Stock
          o 5 Minute Matches
          o The following stages will be used:
                + Final Destination
                + Battlefield
                + Yoshi's Story
                + Smashville
                + Pokemon Stadium 1
                + Lylat Cruise
                + Delfino Plaza
          o 1v1 - Double Eliminiation
          o 2/3 Winners and Losers Bracket, 3/5 Finals in both Winners and Losers, 4/7 Grand Finals

Please be sure to show up for you tournaments when necessary, I can not stress the timing enough guys. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

This thread will be updated periodically, check back regularly for new information!!!

Event will be held on March 8, 2008. Casuals start at noon, tournaments start around 3 or 4pm.

The date for this tournament will be March 8th, 2008.

There are faster ways of getting there, such as taking Sunrise Highway from the Southern State. The LIE tends to take too long because it just cuts straight(ish) down the middle of the Island, whereas the Southern and Sunrise cut diagonally a lot. I can give you directions depending on where you're coming from.

For the past bunch of tournaments (everything prior to #6), everything was constrained to the one area that holds 3S, GGAC, Smash and usually one other game. However, during Fight Night #6, we expanded and moved a few other games into the main arcade area. I'm not sure why no one thought of this before, but mad props to Mark for thinking of it. Castle Golf's owner, Lance, is a really cool and mellow guy and is really willing to help us out in any way possible, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind moving around some machines to make room for other games.

I might be considering making the venue fee $15, instead of $10. I'll be using this money for better equipment such as tables and chairs, as well as various other things so we don't have to be so dependent on my bag of extension cords. For now, the venue fee will remain at $10.

At Fight Night #6, we had a really good turnout. A new game was added to the roster, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, ran by Phil (9.95) from UltimateMK.com and it will stay there as a staple tournament from now on. Phil manages a trophy store, so there are plans already in the works for trophies or plaques for 3rd Strike, as well as UMK3 like last time. I feel like this bring a really unique approach to these local tournaments, although they're getting bigger and bigger.

Here's the list of games that will definitely be played at this tournament:

    * Street Fighter III: Third Strike -PS2-

    * Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection -PS3-

    * Guilty Gear XX Accent Core -PS2-

    * Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 -Xbox 360- (with at least 1 stick provided)

    * Melty Blood -PC-

    * Arcana Heart -PS2-

    * Marvel vs Capcom 2 -Dreamcast-

    * Virtua Fighter 5 -Xbox 360-

For those of you who haven't been to a Castle Golf tournament before, here's how it works. If you'd like to run a tournament for a game that isn't on that list, all I need from you is $10 for venue. You can run a tournament for Super Mario Bros. 2 for all I care, as long as you pay the venue fee. However, if you plan on running a tournament, BRING THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING TV, SYSTEM, AND GAME(S). Although we really don't have the problem of "people coming to an event expecting there to be a tournament but there isn't because no one brought anything" anymore, I still have to stress this point.

I will be taking Mike (KayinNasaki)'s suggestion of making up a "Free Tournament" coupon. For each piece of equipment you bring THAT WE USE, you will recieve a coupon redeemable for entry to one (1) tournament. If, however, we don't use your equipment, then you don't get a coupon and you don't get into a tournament for free. This is to clear up any confusion and also to prevent people from entering tournaments for free when they should be paying.

I will consult with whomever is running other tournaments for rules, but for now, here's the rules to 3rd Strike.

=====Street Fighter III 3rd Strike -PS2-=====

    * $5 entry, unless coupon is presented

    * Double Elimination, 2/3 until Finals, 3/5 Finals, 4/7 Grand Finals

    * 2 stations will be set up to make the tournament move more smootly and quicky

    * Top 8 will be played in an SBO style setup with 2 TVs and will be recorded with commentary by myself and a few other people

    * Prize Split will be 70/20/10

As I said before, I will consult with the other tournament coordinators for their rulesets. I encourage all suggestions from anyone, veteran Castle players and newcomers alike. The last Castle Fight Night had a turnout of 50+ people, 28 entering 3rd Strike. I'd really like to shatter that this time guys!

Castle Fight Night #6 - Centereach, NY - 1/19/08

Castle Golf
1878 Middle Country Rd
Centereach, NY 11720
(631) 471-1267

Train Info: Take the LIRR to Ronkonkoma Station.
Directions from Ronkonkoma Station to Castle Golf.

January 19th, 2008 @ 3pm. Casuals will be running till close. (till midnight at least)

Fee: $10 venue + $5 for each tourney you enter. Sorry, but you must pay the venue even if you want to play casuals only.

Bringing TVs and systems cuts off $5 from your tourney fees. Sorry, but no matter how many TVs and systems you bring, you will still have to pay the $10 venue. Basically, bringing equipment gets you 1 free tourney per item you bring. (of course, it counts only if we actually use your TV/system)

Please help by bringing systems! Even PS2s. (modded and Japanese help as well) Especially bring PS3s and Xbox360s. We can always use more of everything. We definitely can always use more TVs!

Prize split: Depends on how big the pot is for a certain game. If it's big enough for the 70/20/10 split, there ya go. If not, winner takes all.

Tourneys & casuals include, but not limited to: (feel free to bring anything you want)

      Akatsuki Blitzkampf
      Arcana Heart
      Capcom vs SNK 2
      Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core
      Melty Blood: Act Cadenza (ver B on laptop when available)
      Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
      Virtua Fighter 5
      SF3: third strike
