I know this is kinda off topic, but how is 236 B unsafe? because of being baraable on block, or something different that I don't know about? Because the three hits gives you a lot of distance from the other guy, so if they don't bara, most people won't be able to reach you before you're able to run away.

MD hates MB. . . :(
So does most of the VA people. The hatred of MB is only trumped by hatred of AH.

Me personally am at the stage where I don't especially like it anymore, but I tolerate it enough to support the people who actually do like it.

So... Did melty not happen again at c3?

4
That would have worked, actually, if I posted my car troubles the day it happened. Since then, a couple of friends asked me if I wanted to go to Maryland with them, on friday into saturday, to hang out with some old friends, and seeing that my situation was pretty much hopeless, I agreed. And since I already told them yes I'll go, I actually want to go with them, and being at c3 would just be wasting 12 dollars to play a game that I haven't practiced in over 2 months, I'm going to go there first, then, if there happens to be time afterward, I'll go to c3.

If I had a car, the plan would've been go to maryland on Friday, come back saturday lateish(but melty starts at 7-8 anyway so that didn't matter too much) jump in the car waiting for me and get to c3 to come in the knick of time and everyone would drop what they're doing to look at me surprised, as my theme music was playing and it'd be awesome.

An alternate, but more plausable, situation would be if I get my friends to drop me off at c3 as we come home and I ask chu or someone to give me a ride home.

Either way, thanks for the offer, but my situation has been cleverly engineered by God to make it completely up to him whether I get to go to c3 this month. If its after the 12th of January, I can make it to January's c3.

I forgot to tell you guys, but my car was in an accident last weekend and the insurance company is taking forever to get it fixed. Until then, I have no car, which means I cannot make it unless the insurance company calls tomorrow saying that it went through or I wake up and theres a new car sitting in my driveway and keys sitting on my desk or some other miracle.

I'm sorry to those who were relying on me to get a ride, but there is nothing I can do.

I saw some guy in yukinose's site do 2aa, 2c, 5c, jb, jc, jb, jc, throw. Though the input after the 5c is somewhat tricky, you get more range as opposed to 2c, 5b.
I... don't understand how thats different from the standard bnb.

Quote
Oh and any tips for the whiff combo? I don't get the jc in time before the opp recovers.
Practice. Like, seriously, thats it. The whiff is actually easy to pull off, even though in the beginning you're just like, "I DON'T GET IT!!! THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! ERRRGH!" At least, thats what I was like when I was trying to learn it, but after like, really a couple days, of just randomly trying to do it in matches with my friend, it just came out.

7
Lol. I counted 14 "..." in Nas's post(I counted the ".."'s as 1/2)

8
Eh, I also just wanted to take a break from Melty Blood. I sucked a lot in October, and just going to C3 that time really screwed up my scheduling for schoolwork. School is a higher priority.

9
Despite the fact that I have not touched melty blood since the october c3, I guess I am one of the guys responsible for making it run, so I'll be going. I was planning on going on hiatus from melty till I get a stick(I have a ps1 controller just waiting to be taken apart.) to give my fingers time to unlearn pad playing, but I also want a tournament to go back to once I have a stick(a real stick, not the fighting stick 2 that I already have), so I'll support it as best I can.

By the way, Guilty gear is a better game.

I'm sure there were people who would've entered, but not enough for it to be worth a tourney.

Nah, no one even came, not even Chibi. Couldn't hold it due to lack of peepz.
wow.....melty is in trouble

I wouldn't say in any more trouble than it already was. We'd usually get about 10ish regulars and then anyone else from guilty gear we can convince to throw away their money. Just the last two months the guilty gear people realized that they are just throwing away their money and the regulars had life intervening. Once school is over(or at least near over), we can probably get some more people hyped again.

Though, even with its merits, the move is very situational. There are so many better air to ground moves that you can use(like... any of her air normals), and better uses of your meter than to use a 236 c in the air.

Though 236 anything in the air is pretty good if you have to stay in the air a bit longer, like, if you're about to land on an arc drive or something.

Do you even know what alligator tears even means? Because I sure don't. ???

Yeah, I actually did watch some vids after I said that and realized that everyone does it, but I also realized that no one really sticks to one air combo for shiki. It probably is because they get more random hits than actual setups and they just have to make due with what they got. I've seen all combinations of a b c and jump cancel while in the air.

Though, why is that combo so special? I've only seen it do like maybe 100-200 more damage than the standard jbc djbc, and the room for error is ridiculously higher.

Or maybe its killing it softly... with its song, killing Melty Blood's whole life with its word. Killing it softly...

I thought sonic looked like crap from what I saw.  Did they find out something good about him?
His forward B move is jump cancelable into another forward B which is also jump cancelable. And he's ridiculously fast.

What the hell are these cancels!?

I only played Smash with my friends casually in parties ;_;
L cancels are when you hit L or R just before hitting the ground while doing a move. It cuts down the recovery time on landing. Like, for instance, Link's down A when he lands on the ground it takes about a second for him to pull his sword out. If you hit L when you land, he picks it up immediately. Its absolutely essential that you never miss a single L cancel if you play competitively.

Wavedashing is jumping and then immediately midairdodging toward the ground. If you did it right, you'll do an instantaneous slide backward or forward without going into run animation, meaning you can do anything you would be able to do if you were just standing. For some characters you absolutely need to know how to do it, Ganondorf wasn't one of them.

All in all, the game is fun, but its got retarded tiers.

Ganondorf. He was fun to play, and all I had to learn was some L-cancels, and wavedash every once in a while. I never learned the L-cancel timings fully, and wavedashing I already talked about.

.....It could also be a gg style guard meter without guard breaks. Since we know MB loves to rip off gg.
In all honesty, MB should rip off GG more. Though this may be a witty sarcasm that I am just not catching.

Not as overpowered as SONIC!!! He's got a jumpcancellable move! Beat that!

22
Yeah I do it all the time, regardless if they're blocking or not (Okay, not all the time, but every once in a while I sometimes catch the people who think 236b is a high hit). Also, you can go into 623+C if your opponent unfortunately jumped.

What I'm wondering is if you can do 236a into 214c. I tried doing it a couple times unsuccessfully, but I also have terrible execution, so it could just be that.

Haha, So I've heard. Wavedashing made the game so execution heavy that it stopped being fun. Its like, If I'm just fucking around, I could do it perfectly, but when I need to dodge that key attack, it fails, and I  :'( .

I wonder if people are going to ban different types of controller styles, or have one controller style "high tier" as opposed to others.

24
the next step is doing 2aa,2c, 5bb,5a (whiff), jc, dj abc,  airthrow
Out of curiousity, did you think up that combo by yourself? Like, I never saw a japanese vid where someone uses this combo, nor the combo in the corner when you ex slide jump wait a bit, then j.c, dj bc airthrow.

And if you did make up those combos on your own (actually, even if you didn't), I think you're the only one I will allow to use it. If I see anyone else use it, I will demand they add "Combo trademarked by Nas".

Yeah, I heard no one likes jinmaster, for various reasons. Even the smashers.
