Hi Dead Thread!

I'm looking to host some local matches at my place in Canoga Park. I've already got a good turnout on Saturdays for GG+R and CvS2. Local matches can be MB, UNIB, BB, or whatever really as long as we're playing competitive games and hanging out. For more info PM me or find me on Discord @ id#7624

Here's my twitch channel so you can see how it's like. I'd love to get some good melty up there!

There will be a PS3 with P4U, AH3, SG, etc. If you want to bring Aquapazza that would be wonderful =)

Hey guys, I posted the West Toast XVI thread, and want feedback for what our 4 main games should be. I'd love everyone's input!

Thanks!

5
So, we're having 4 slots available for each date (23rd and 24th).

Day 1 (Sat): Is for Melty Blood related games. This includes games that play similar to MB, doujin games, and the like.
Day 2 (Sun): Is for Guilty Gear related games.

So, which games do you guys want available for Saturday?

Melty Blood is going to be there of course, but what should our other 3 main event games be? Let's discuss it here!

8
West Toast was founded by a bunch of enthusiastic Melty Blood players just trying to grow their scene. The premise has always been to meet other players and to have fun. After two years without a West Toast, they've been revived in 2011! Now the event incorporates even more games, but the premise remains the same: meet other like-minded players and have fun!

West Toast is a "Mini-Major" tournament which focuses on airdashers and other similar games. The tournament will be split into two days: Melty Blood etc. and Guilty Gear etc. Melty Blood Day will incorporate many of the doujin fighters, while Guilty Gear Day will incorporate more of the well-known fighters. Players will also be holding many side tournaments for all sorts of obscure games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters! So, come prove yourself among your peers as the best of the west coast at West Toast!

The Location:
Super Arcade

Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code v1.07:
Time: TBA
Price: $5 to enter (+25c per play)
Pot split will be 70/20/10 for 1st/2nd/3rd place (subject to change depending on number of entrants).
Rules:
Double Elimination Bracket, 2/3 Matches, 2/3 Rounds
Double-blind character selection available on request.
Winners must keep same character (but may change moon styles, selecting before the opponent chooses their moon style), losers may counter pick.
All characters are tournament legal.
Game will be held on arcade. I will be working on setting up a PS2 input on the game, but there is no guarantee I can get it to work. Multiple stations may be held on PC.
In-game glitches are allowed as long as they do not "break" the game (i.e. characters float off the screen, disappear, the game crashes, etc.).
If a button or stick problem occurs, stop playing and notify the tournament organizer immediately (even before your round is over). We will restart the round after dealing with the problem. Abuses of this system will cause a forfeit of the match.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend:

In-game glitches are allowed as long as they do not "break" the game (i.e. characters float off the screen, disappear, the game crashes, etc.).
If a button or stick problem occurs, stop playing and notify the tournament organizer immediately (even before your round is over). We will restart the round with a new stick. Abuses of this system will cause a forfeit of the match.
If the player accidently pauses in the middle of the game, they will forfeit that round (we might look the other way if it was in the middle of a super animation).

Rules, prices, times, and everything else is subject to change.

New stuff coming up:

BB tournaments added
Our first BB tournament will be 3v3 and will be a Blue Revolution Preliminary.
GG is bumped down to 2PM
Vampire Savior tournaments are added.

I will be taking $1 from each entry's pot and adding it to a pool to pay for Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. If for some reason we can't get P4U (i.e. it's NESiCA x Live exclusive) we will got for Under Night In-Birth.

This weekend was so awesome! It was great seeing everyone.

Sorry a few of you couldn't make it for Day 2, the doujin fighter day. I had a lot of fun in the Melty tournament, and Numakie recorded it.

We also had BBBR casuals up, and had some really fun AH3 tourney matches.

If anyone else missed it, I'll be scheduling West Toast XVI soon (in the summer). I'm going to try and do a West Toast twice a year.

It was great seeing everybody again! There were a ton of new faces, too!

So, I'm still planning on doing that fundraiser in the future. We'll be taking $1 from the pot for each airdasher game; each dollar will be collected in a pool that will go towards purchasing a new airdasher arcade board.

I'm going to have us take a vote, but it will be a little subjective. I'm only really going to count people who show up to tournaments or regularly play at the arcade. If some random guy who's never been to the arcade and won't come if we got a new game votes, his vote shouldn't really matter.

So, here's the games I'm recommending:
BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend:
Pros: It would be great to have an arcade board for this game and get more people interested in it.
Cons: I would really prefer if we got a board for a game that is not out/won't come out for console. There's some games out there that we wouldn't see for years unless we got the arcade board.

Arcana Heart 3:
Pros: The game already has a good following, and it matches well with some of the other games we've got. This game is also cheaper than the others, and we'd be able to get it faster than most.
Cons: Again, it would be nice if we didn't get a board for a game that's already out.

Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena: (http://andriasang.com/objmmr/persona_4_ultimate/)
Pros: This is a new fighter that is made by Arc System Works and Atlus, so it goes well with Guilty and BlazBlue. The game has name recognition and a lot of people like the Persona series.
Cons: Arc has not always made the best choices when it comes to team-ups (i.e. Arc + Capcom = Sengoku Basara X). Make sure you check out the system mechanics of this game before you see if it's a good game; don't just think, "Persona is awesome, Arc is awesome, it's like peanut butter and jelly!"

Under Night In-Birth: (http://inbirth.info/index.html)
Pros: This is a new HD fighter by Ecole, the makers of Melty Blood. It looks really nice, graphically. Personally, I really like when a company starts a brand new franchise, it's a risky move, but it's nice to have that fresh start.
Cons: A lot of people don't like Melty Blood's "simplistic style". I'm not sure how much of that is carrying over into UNIB, but it seems to be an "HD Melty."

Daemon Bride: Additional Gain: (http://www.examu.co.jp/dmb/)
Pros: Damon Bride is a fighting game made by Examu, the makers of Arcana Heart. It has a really cool art style and a unique "Angels vs. Demons" motif. This is an update to the original which came out in 2009, so this update is something over 2 years in the making, giving it some promise. The original was not designed for HD, but the new update is for the Taito X2 system and is definitely HD compatible. This game DOES NOT have an all female under-age cast like Arcana Heart; most of the characters are male (This may or may not be a benefit =P).
Cons: The original Daemon Bride has been known to not be very good in terms of gameplay.

Hmm, what's up with the sound quality. Is there anyway we can fix that for next time?

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: Calculating Damage: Rounding?
« on: December 31, 2011, 02:42:56 PM »
There seems to be some weird multipliers too, like a factor 0.88 against aerial opponents (after the combo count scaling), and a factor 1.035 for Hisui&Kohaku only. (Which seems to go before the combo count scaling)

The .88 was a problem I just ran into right now when dealing with air combo damage. Thanks again.

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out the right orders on all of these, it'll just take a lot of time. I'm really interested in this now. I'll post here when I get more info.

That explains it!

Each individual multiplier is rounded, then they are all added together.

So, we have multiple multipliers, and they're all rounded in a specific order:

  • Damage
  • (33-total number/32)
  • defense rating
  • proration
  • reverse beat
  • critical hit

Not necessarily in that order.

Damage * (#/32) definitely comes before proration, though.

I'm curious what the full order is, maybe I'll work on that soon.

Thanks a lot for your help, Mengjun!

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: Calculating Damage: Rounding?

And that fits into the problem I'm having. Those numbers just don't jive.

2A2A deals 508 damage (against x1 defense at 100% health).

according to the training mode, 2A deals 300 with .72 proration

So...

X + (31/32)BX = 508
300 + (31/32)(.72)(300) = 508
509.25 = 508

Why would it show 508 damage instead of 509 damage? Is there something I'm missing?

What I had originally calculated was 299.3 dmg at .720 proration, yielding:

X + (31/32)BX = 508
299.3 + (31/32)(.720)(299.3) = 508
508.06 = 508

299 makes more sense when I put it in the equation where 5A2A = 558 among others. Is the training mode just being lazy and not showing 299 (or 299.3) or something?

Can you tell me what 2A is? That seems like it would fix everything for me if I just know that number.

It's either 300 or 299. If I know for sure which that is, I can use it to solve this. My calculations make it seem like 300 won't work, but I need to be sure.

My PS2 is acting up, and I haven't gotten my PC version of CC yet.

Can somebody just go into practice mode and tell me how much damage H-PCiel's 2A does? If I know that I can figure everything else out.

This upcoming Sunday, January 8th, is our next tournament.

I will be bringing my PS3 and PS2 in the likely event that we don't have GGAC working yet. If anybody can bring a PS2 joystick for us to use, that would be fantastic. Also, I'll be bringing in my copy of BlazBlue CS Extend. I'm not planning on a tournament for it, but if we want to run one, that would be cool. If not, we can still run casuals.

Don't forget that West Toast XV is coming up soon! I hope to see you all there. After West Toast I really plan on pushing these regular airdasher tournaments back into full swing. I've seen a bunch of new faces lately, all excited about the airdasher scene.

One last thing: For tournaments in the future (not next week's and not West Toast), I was thinking of having a sort of fundraiser for new games. With the current price of games (SF4 2012 patch = $10,000 for two players, TTT2 = $18,000 plus operator pays, etc.) airdashers have become a low priority in the arcade, and the only way we're going to get new games is if we all pitch in as a scene to get it. So, I propose that when we run airdasher tournaments I take a dollar from each entry and put it into a pool. That pool money will go towards purchasing a new game.

Here's a list of upcoming new airdasher arcade games to think about:
BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend
Arcana Heart 3
Under Night In-Birth
Persona 4 Fighter
Deamon Bride Additional Gain

Personally, I'd prefer if we got a game that is not out on console at all. We can all play BlazBlue now, but we won't get a shot at some of those other games for years. There's also the rumor of BlazBlue 3 in the works (November 2012?). If I had to vote, I'd vote for Under Night In-Birth.

Post a message here, or PM me and let me know what you guys think.

Added her first combo on the second post with some detailed descriptions about it!

I'm actually doing work, woot! :toot:

I'll work on C-PCiel stuff when I'm pretty satisfied about the state of the info in this thread, but H-PCiel is the version I'm using, so I really want to focus on that.
