In terms of space, it doesn't really need much, just sorta set up all the cables and let it go.
The space that your laptop is using to stream is space that could be used for a setup for a game.
I understand, you want to stream, as you've made clear multiple times in this thread. If I have space for you to stream, I will give you all the space I can.

Once again, I know that space is going to be at a premium from here on out, especially with Anime games. If I do not have space for you to set up your laptop safely, I am not going to let you set it up, for various reasons including "I don't want your shit broken", "I don't want your shit stolen", "I don't want to start a fire" and "I need the space". I've run tournaments where I have zero space before, I've sat in a god damned trashcan to run brackets for AH3 and Melty before when P4U was fresh. At Summer Jam we are going to have three brand new games. I have an incredibly strong feeling there will not be space for a stream setup, so if you arrive at the venue and I tell you there's no space for a stream setup please have a backup plan to save replays.

If you want to test stuff, as a "proof of concept" a major is probably not the place to do it.

Please understand that I'm sharing the space that I'm given to run my games with you guys to run melty. At this point I have bigger fish to fry, and they are going to get the priority for space.

5
The venue isn't new, this is the same venue we ran NEC and Winter Brawl at last year. It's smaller than the Clarion. I have this funny feeling that space is going to be a serious concern here.

6
I'm gonna warn you now, please have a contingency plan in case there's no room to set up a stream. I have a feeling space is going to be a premium at Summer Jam, we have three new anime games coming out between now and then (AH3LM, UNIEL and P4U2 comes out the week of SJ), smash is back, I really hope that we have enough space to just get the games run at this point.

UNREAL BLACK THINGS / Re: UNIEL Player database
« on: April 23, 2014, 06:19:39 PM »
There is nothing wrong, you enter your information in the entry form, and you can view everyone's information via the spreadsheet.
Making the spreadsheet editable would mean that people could potentially edit other peoples information, and that's not cool. Everything is working exactly as intended.

UNREAL BLACK THINGS / UNIEL Player database
« on: April 23, 2014, 10:55:48 AM »
Hey, much like I did for LM, I made a form and spreadsheet for UNIEL to help us find other players
http://tinyurl.com/unidbe  - Entry Form
http://tinyurl.com/unidbs  - Results

If you want to edit your results, you can do so by pulling back up the entry form (so long as you were signed in to a google account)

Okay, so we just got word that UNI is getting released on PS3 this July. This is what I've been waiting for. UNI will be my second game along with AH3LM. The505 has expressed interest in continuing to run Melty too, so here's our thread for planning, etc.
We'll have more information coming up.

The scene wont get better known at this rate.
The scene doesn't need to be "better known" anymore. The og melty players worked their asses off to get the game to EVO. This game has been a main stage game at EVO before. Pretty much anyone you ask at a tournament will be able to tell you at least something about the game. A lot of players seem to think that the game just deserves to be run for some reason, when nothing else is being done with the game. Barely any content is being produced for the game, I see socal post about sessions and a few other isolated communities in NA posting about sessions, I don't see any in the northeast. I have a god damned venue in Philly that charges no venue fee and I haven't seen melty played there since the last tournament I ran.

The problem is that nothing happens with this game on a local level. I saw a lot of slop at NEC. I don't see any local tournaments going on except for when myself or tsb runs it and even then it doesn't happen a lot of times because of equipment not being supplied. If melty wants to survive this needs to change. This has nothing to do with "hype". This has everything to do with players actually improving and playing their game on a regular basis. Running majors where half of the people who entered haven't practiced is not "hype". I know that a player who got top 3 doesn't even practice this game anymore. Why are players losing to that? Why is Tenryo, one man putting in more effort to represent his game than all of EC melty?

So I'm done running melty at majors for now. I will revisit this situation if one of three things happen.
A.)UNIB comes out on console
B.)Melty HD comes out  :laffo:
C.)The community puts in a serious effort to represent their game.

A and B are pretty self explanatory. A console release is much easier to maintain for a community. UNI is a fresh start, and maybe Melty HD will bring back that hunger that the old players had.

C is the one that I really really want to see, but I'm somewhat hesitant will happen. This is a complicated issue, you can't buy the game, it's pc only, lugging around pcs sucks, the community has gotten lazy. Those are all valid concerns here. I really appreciate everyone who has supplied a setup to help me run events. A laptop is a lot more expensive and harder to replace than a ps3, and it carries a lot more personal information on it most of the time. Nadakai and I had to yell and kick and scream to get confirmed setups as late as the Wednesday before NEC to get setups. I've been told "there will always be melty setups! Why bother asking". That's a sorta shitty way to run an event, you don't just assume hardware will be there without confirmation.

So c'mon guys. Step your shit up. The oldheads worked their asses off with pc releases before, and kept the community thriving. I'm not asking for even that level of commitment, I'm just asking for this corpse to give me a good kick.

If you're wondering how to do this, reach out to your local TOs. Find where people play casuals, see if you can bring melty out to those gatherings. I don't know a single TO who will turn down players hungry for games. Myself included. If you live in the Philly area like I said we have a venue that we play games at. You are more than welcome to bring melty. All of the communities need to step their shit up, that doesn't exclude ours. That doesn't mean I'm going to carry it though. I don't even carry arcana in Philly, I have a lot of help on that one.

This post has gone on long enough and I've said everything I have to say. A lot of people are just telling me to flat out drop it and never look back, I want this to succeed though. I've met a lot of really cool people in the time I spent running melty. People I'm still friends. If it never picks back up that's really sad, but I had fun while it lasted. If it does pick up then awesome, let's push this shit forward. I'll revisit this after Winter Brawl to see what's going on.

Thanks to everyone who came out, I have news to post about the future of melty at my tournaments but i'll save that for when I have my head entirely sorted on it (tl;dr it doesn't look good)

12
I'll post up results when I unpack my laptop, as well as the brackets.

The reason that top 4 were not streamed was because one of the players in top 4 wanted/needed to head out for the day so he wanted to just play it out off stream.

I know there was an (unneeded) comment directed towards my streamer that we "do not do enough for melty". Please take into account that we have poured a lot of time into running melty. We both have. More than almost the entire playing community right now. So before anyone (not going to call anyone out) points their fingers at us, look inward and see if you've been putting work in- not just at majors.

Regional Community / Re: Philly Thread - Inumimi Panic

If you bring it out to our meetups at game junkies I'm sure you can get games in. Best place to figure out when we meet up is the dustloop thread or twitter sadly. Also NEC  of course

(and someone's dumb enough to team with me)
Random teams, dawg

15
Okay guys. I need serious responses here.
Who will enter teams if I run teams?
Another way to put that: Who that is confirmed for NEC will be entering teams?
If the interest isn't there, I'll just run singles, and free up space for another game. I need to get an accurate gauge here. Post up if you're confirmed for NEC and want teams too

16
EDIT: Can we do 2v2 teams on Saturday & Singles on Sunday like at NECXII? I think that was the best way in terms of scheduling & everyone being able to play as many games as possible plus teams is always hype.
I have no problem running teams as long as we have enough teams. Sadly entry has been dwindling badly for mb over the last few philly majors.

Most of the pcbs you buy from within the community are going to support SOCD by default (Newer Toodles firmwares, the PS360+, I'm pretty sure the Cerberus too, I never tested it).

I've always sorta wanted to wire up a keyboard for fgs, but I have no use for it means I play on stick :nyoro:

With a bit of time and a dremel you can make pcbs pretty tiny.

Ciel's Tech Support / Re: MBAACC issues on Windows 8
« on: August 26, 2013, 12:29:38 AM »
I'm willing to bet it's APU or driver related. Melty runs fine on my desktop with Windows 8 with a HD 6800. Try installing the AMD gpu drivers http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Sorry stuff happened, I was on vacation.
1: Lord Knight
2: Ehrik
3: SMM|Haipaharu-kun <3
4: Airthrows
5: VicViper
5: the505
7: iora

9: WAM|Liberation Maiden
9: WAM|Sloth Facts
9: Mike Napalm

Here's the bracket, for anyone interested:

I'll upload the replays later today, once I unpack my portable hdd. We could not get a connection to hold any day but Friday, I figured this was the best way to handle it, that way someone could sit down and give the matches the commentary they deserve.

Thanks to everyone that came out, and I hope to see more of you at TFC and NEC!

21
You guys know how it is with the initial list, there's always something goofy on it.
I'll get rolling with this after TFC

22
I'll upload full results and replays after I get some stuff sorted in the next day (on vacation atm) top three were Lord Knight, Ehrik, and SMM|Haipaharu
