Hey guys,

I haven't posted in forever, but yeah.  I have an MBAA Naomi Cartridge for sale on eBay.  I know this is a relatively rare item and there might be someone here looking for it. If someone wants to make a legitimate offer I can end the auction for them.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/180826454104?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1413

I didn't see any kind of "market" section on the forums, or I would have posted this there.

Depending on numbers I could host perhaps.  Only problem with having my house as a venue is my schedule and availability.

I'd be down for another session this Sat.

Sorry Thomas there doesn't seem to be much response so I'll plan on the weekend after.  If people want to come for casuals on Saturday, January 30th let me know!  If you want to show up still tomorrow you're welcome to.

I spent a little time in training mode last night.  I think i'm going to main C-Warakia.  Even though I read online his damage is not as good as others, I like the character so... yeah.

Do you have access to a server pc somewhere?  preferably *nix?  If so just set up a bnc and connect to the bnc using ssl.  then connect to irc from the bnc server.

a harder alternative could be to set up a bot network to mirror the channels you want to another network and then connect to that network through ssl.  this seems like overkill though.

or... you could just use another web client that's not mibbit.  i'm sure there's something usable out there.

It's not that SSL is allowing you to bypass your firewall it's that the administrator hasn't locked down those ports specifically.  SSL just changes whether or not the packets are encrypted or plain text.  Most (smart) admins will lock down 6667 to prevent noobs from ircing.  Do you know if 22 is open?  If so I suggest setting up another machine to bounce anything you need to your local machine over port 22 and an SSH tunnel.

Not all ircds have SSL ability, not sure if mizuumi does or not (doesn't mention it in motd so i assume it doesn't).  The standard irc ports are 6667-6670 and 7000.  7000 is the standard port for SSL connection.  One thing I did see in the motd is this line:

- If you're having problems connecting to Mizuumi, try using port 3000 instead.

So if your network admin hasn't locked down 3000 try that too.

yes and no...  Because I already want to get a naomi setup for my jamma cab anyways.  So if MBAA was cheap (like less than $100) it would totally be worth getting.  Naomi has a LOT of good games for it, just to name a few... mvc2, cvs2, powerstone, guilty gears, and melty bloods.

MBAA:FT will also be very expensive I assume when it hits arcade release.  and i don't know what else runs on ringwide that I'd want... so if there's not multiple games for it it's kind of not worth getting... Like CPS3.  There's really only 3rd strike that's good and people who do have it don't want to get rid of it, or want too much.

Ok, going to stop derailing this thread and turning it into an arcade hardware debate :P

lol kaph33n I was gonna buy that board you jerk. jk man, I hope I can make it next time.

glad I snatched it up then!  been wanting a VS board for a long time.  It will motivate me to get my control panel finished.  I am thinking of doing 2 player 6 button setup with jlfs and obsfs.

I looked into how much it would cost to get an arcade mbaa setup going... not cheap :|  just the game is 2500, plus you need a naomi setup.  I guess I should just buy a used PS2 to play the game!  I don't think I'll be doing it again this Saturday, but we'll see.  Maybe Saturday after next if not.  If I haven't gotten myself a ps2 by then I'll try to do some training mode in the emulator.  Thanks again to everyone who showed up.  Hopefully the turn out will be as good or better next time, we were saying if 8 or more people are there next time we should do a single elim bracket.  I remembered that my roommate has an old 19" crt tv that we could use.  So either replace the 13" we used last time or maybe get a third setup going.

After playing against people who actually know what they're doing in this game I've figured out that the most important aspect of this game is the mobility and the okizeme derived from that.  Unlike in SF2 or most capcom games where you can just DP everything :P.  Correct me if I'm wrong!  They call this kind of spacing in SF footsies, but in mb it's more like "airsies."  The games I watched you guys playing and the ones I fought in were so different than the ones I had been doing against my friend Dan.  Both Dan and I are noobs in mb and we both come from capcom games.  Seeing you guys play like flipped a switch in my head or something.  Watching match vids is now making a lot more sense to me instead of just being entertaining.

my pleasure.  it was fun to play against people who actually know how to play the game.  I really need to level up before our next session.

P.S. I just bought a vampire savior board, so we should start playing that. (just gotta finish the control panel on my arcade cab first)

I don't mind more people as long as everyone behaves themselves.  At least to the point where my stuff doesn't get broken, ha.

People are going to show up this afternoon so you should call first to see if they're still around after you're done with work.  PMing you details.

Here are the people who said they think they can make it: deadman, Nandeyanen, Shizuka, mir, and ヤット

People are saying they're going to show up around 1-2pm.  Which sounds good to me.  It will probably last until night or whenever everyone gets sick of playing (yeah right).

One person (deadman) said he could probably bring a ps2.  If someone else wanted to bring another ps2 and/or tv we could probably get 2 setups going at once.  If no one brings anything we can play on my TV via emulator.  :slowpoke:

Ok, wow, good response already.  My place isn't huge but should fit a few guests.  I have another friend I play with but we're both just starting in the game. Also one of those nights could be bbct casuals or mixed.  I have bb for ps3.

I don't know about being close to 97 stop but I'm kind of close to the bart.

Hope you guys are 420 friendly because it can get cloudy in here!  :slowpoke:

Oh San Lorenzo huh.  That is close.  Do you play on PS2 or PC?  Right now I only have it set up to play on PC.  I think I'm going to do melty nights at my place tuesday and/or saturday nights if either of those work for you.  I am really scrubby still but that will change if I get some good competition.
