Hey, just moved to WA myself, situated in Redmond for now, though this may change to another nearby location maybe in the next month, but I'm in the area for good. But I may try to make it out to whatever meets for melty will be there as well. Looking forward to meeting other players.

Any idea what the general fighting game scene is around the Seattle area as well?

Around that time I think will work great - I should be just about done with school. It just has to be before July 31st for me. I'll look into it a bit more to be safe though and ask my friend or others about it too.

Kinda curious, but when do you guys think we could do a big meetup like last time? Just thought I'd get some kind of thinking about it going.

I doubt I'll have money to pay entry. But, it would be a shame to miss playing melty with people that travel. Maybe I can bring my set-up to the hotel, but not play in the venue space. You gonna have a room at the hotel? Which day would you want to play?

Maybe, but I don't have a room >; I'm with friends who have not much planned and are hopign to stay and one of their places but it's up in the air. If it's too much hassle, that's fine, as I'll still want to come up to DFW area for a meetup session during the summer anyways~ But we'll see. I was half-hoping someone would happen to have a setup there but if nothing's confirmed maybe I'll skip out on taking my stick. If you decide to try something though, keep in touch! :3

So, I am currently in pittsburgh, but chances are looking like I am moving back to texas ( houston ) in a month or two, and then hopefully within like 4-6 months will be moving to the austin area with a roommate. If anyone want to play some mb this summer let me know ;D

And for Austin, I know Skwuck plays, and there are likely to be at least a couple more that play.

Verifying this but also with a bit of sad news - I'm moving out of Austin at the end of July. >: And then mid-August I'll have moved to Washington state... I'm gonna miss Austin though. That said, If you're in Houston before then, then trying to get to you for a meetup isn't unreasonable :3 Keep me posted?

This is probably a bit late in asking, but just wondering if there are any Melty players going to A-Kon? I'll probably be around, but unable to take a setup. Just figured I'd ask.

Seifuku Akiha / Re: H-Seifuku 1.07
« on: April 22, 2013, 12:36:28 PM »
I think H-Seifuku is weaker than C and F, but that doesn't necessarily make her a bad char.

H-Seifuku has some cool stuff that nets low-ish damage and ends in oki. My main problem with the character is that her normals are garbage. She doesn't even have any good specials to help her out in neutral either so you're kind of just forced to rely on her (godlike) dash.

I haven't played her in a while but I'm pretty sure the bnbs I ran were:
->2a 5b 5c 5a 6aa 22a 2c 22a 214a
->2a 5b 5c 2c 6c j.bc dj.BEj.C j.214a land j.bc dj.BEj.C slight delay j.214A

The first bnb sets up meaty pillar and lets you run high/low/cmd grab mixup. The second bnb gives much more corner carry and sets up meaty air pillar. Unfortunately her oki is much weaker compared to C's oki which is similar because C gets 2-3 pillars worth of blockstun to work with, whereas H sets up only 1. Just remember when doing the second combo to delay the last pillar so it is timed meaty.

Basically all of this. When I play H-Seifuku, I don't really feel 22A loops are worth it, nor are the character specific stuff unless you really like being flashy. Maybe if her 2C hit a tiny bit higher they'd work on everyone making it better but... just my opinion. I just basically use the latter combo. More specifics on it:

I like to do stuff into 2C 6C 6B jBC djBE_C (slight delay) dj214A(214B if you are midscreen, change as appropriate) land jBC djBE_C whiff jA j214A (right before you land).

Best timing to do the first j214A is right as you hear or right before the first bounce when they get ground slammed. Also, when you do flame pillar oki, you can sorta do the same jBE_C mixup C-Seifuku has, although its more gimmicky probably. Would go something like:

combo > whiff jA 214A land j9 slight delay > deep(ish) jBE_C > (whiff) jB 5A > stuff. If the jBE_C catches a jumpout, your jB will catch them after the second bounce and you can followup with 5C jBC djBE_C into oki again. If you decide to whiff jB, that's for your low post-jBE_C, and don't whiff for the high option. You can also try to tick by doing jA instead and going into command grab, which will mostly carry back to opposite corner.

Overall, it's what everyone has been saying - she's basically a weaker C-Seifuku with not-so-good neutral and normals. her pressure is a bit more OK with 22 series imo but take that with a grain of salt.

Stuff you can do with meter is kinda the same but it really won't extend your damage - the only real time to do it is to manage your meter. You can do stuff like whatever into 2C 6C (6B) 236C sj9 jBC djBE_C > whatever.

Also, when doing this combo close to the corner, you probably want to do your double jumps straight up or you risk having your flame pillars whiff as they'll come up behind the corner, so you won't always get a forced block or relaunch.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure that 214b confirmed on the whole cast but then again that was AA, not sure if CC changed any mechanics. Like I mentioned, I haven't touched CC at all so basically, I leave the new stuff up to you guys.

The stomp thing does rely on gravity a little but not as much as timing. I'm 100% sure on this.

It's only midscreen where this is an issue. In the corner it appears to work on everyone without an issue (since you cant cross them up in that situation obviously). I havent tried messing with gravity yet on Nanaya though... It might help with the passing through him thing.

The code thing takes a bit too long to skim with through my phone but I got down some stuff.

Try half charging 214b if it whiffs on certain characters. If it still does, try either 2c 5c 214b or 2c 5bb(wallslams) 214b.

For that ground stomp combo, I'm not 100% sure if it counts as a knockdown but after the 22cs, try 2c 6c 421b twice. You may have to get used to the timing though.

Midscreen it will whiff on Nanaya if you delay the 214B at all after 6AAA. Maybe others too but I havent bothered testing. Doing ... > 6AAA 214B hits though and puts you on the other side of him midscreen though for a second. V: so you can do the following on him I guess:

stuff 5A6AA 214B 5B2B aerial (this crosses up only for a second on nanaya, you'll autocorrect inbetween 5B2B)
or
stuff 5A6AA 214B 5B(2B) 236A (and then more stuff if you're close enough, this keeps the crossup and wallslams)(this one is tricky inputwise though because of the crossup)

Regarding stomps > 2C 6C, it feels like in most cases 421B only connects after 6C when theres enough gravity, which is about 5 or more hits before 2C on Hisui, might vary with character (but it seems to work with 5 midscreen on her). You can do stomps > 2C 5C 421B ATwhiff 2C for knockdown near the corner or followup with 2B 236A for tech punish or 2B 5B aerial for damage though.

Edit: Does Throw > 5C 5A6AA work on everyone? I try it and 5A will whiff on some characters...

Other sort-of believer chiming in.

I have some other H-Miyako stuff that I wanted to clean up and toy with a little bit more... But I might as well just copy paste my mess here for now. Some stuff repeats, or is pretty basic. Overall you can mix and match most parts. It was mostly me messing with 214B, which can be tricky.

Quote from: random
TL;DR: corner combo is whatever into > 2C (slight delay) 2B 236A > techpunish/oki on notech

Basic: ...5A6AA slight delay 214B (5B)5C  421B airthrow whiff 2C5B2B aerial
… 5A6AA slight delay 214B 2C 5C 421B airthrow whiff 2C
- Can’t OTG after this because the 2C knockdown counts as your “3rd bounce/slam”
- Want to find a better damage solution to this to enable corner OTGs but unlikely
- 5A6AA delay 214B will go through some characters and whiff midscreen, havent tested on everyone but this happens with Nanaya

… 5A6AA slight delay 214B 5C be214B 5B2B jABC djABC airthrow
… 5A6AA slight delay 214B 2C 5C 421B airthrow whiff 2C5B2B jABC djABC airthrow

-can probably replace aerials with 421C for hardknockdown and meter burn

Corner OTG string: (dash) 2C5AAAB 2B5C 2AAA xx 5C techpunish
- For meter build and tech punish setup, OTG string might be iffy when chaining to 5C in some cases or on some characters maybe. Can skip 5C and go straight to 2A
- note this uses 2 rebeats, (can ignore 2C though)

22B > 22C link works in H too!

basic: 22B 22C (22C) 214B 5B2B aerial
Advanced (fff timing): 22B 22C (22C) 214B 2C > stuff
Need to test: 22B 22C 421A/B airthrow whiff > stuff

Random notes:
236A has unusually long air untechable time. enough so such that you can do the following maybe for a tech punish?:
...5A6AA slight delay 214B 5B/2C 5C 421B airthrow whiff 2C (2B) 236A > techpunish
opponent has to be pretty low to the ground though... but it works! on hisui and miyako... need to test more

Midscreen 421A/B  long range confirm:
421A/B IAD jC 5B2B aerial

2a5B2C5C5A6AA slight delay 2C 5C 421B airthrow whiff 2C (slight delay) 2B 236A walk slightly away from corner or dash 5C techpunish

Maybe I'll clean this up later. Feel free to criticize it or make it better or whatever.

Also apparently with enough gravity depending on the character, you can do stuff > 6C (slightly delay) 421B, even midscreen in some cases.

So uh, I know I'm a little late but. I just kinda realized that I might need a ride maybe. At least it'd be convenient. So if anyone is possibly able to pick me up near the campus that's going to this that would be pretty helpful. Otherwise I'll still try to make it there via nearest bus, hopefully I won't get lost. :V

You said you'd be going to the arcade afterward? Could I possibly catch a ride with you on the way back? Or someone.

EDIT: Even a ride from the bus stop might be helpful. Idk. If someone can help, PM me please though, though Ill check here again too before heading there.

MY SPECS:
Make

Your specs look, or are pretty much, almost the exact same as mine (differences are I'm on a smaller display and the make isnt HP), and I haven't had any issues at all running MBAACC. (Thought I am running with 6GB RAM instead of 3 (for no real reason)). I'm not completely sure what the issue would be though x: But I'd imagine you -should- be able to play and display it fine. Driver update maybe..?

Lets get hype!

This Friday starting at 7pm. PM me for address. I'll see if i can get some of the guys from UFO to show up. Hopefully Ryan will pick it up for the Arcade someday.

Yaaay~ I'm up for this. I'll be back in Austin on the 14th so I'll miss the first one but let me know how many you get. :3 I'll definitely try to make it out. I've seen you at the arcade from time to time, it'll be great to play you in Melty and stuff. I look forward to it.

So wait add in some more 2As before I 2C,214A, guess I'll give it a shot.

214A hits OTG not sure if it was always this way, but I can 2C wait 1 whole second then 214A and it will connect.

623B is now super cancelable as well so yay 623B,214C for comedy good AA.

Yeah. I think you should only need like 2 2As. Again, I'm a little unsure on this, but it's been working for me when I do:

2AB 5BC 6AAA 214B dash 2B5BC 6AAA 214B dash 2AA5BC 2C 214A

And yeah, 214A always hit OTG. Random sillyness: j214A did in PS2 too. Not that it mattered. :V Still does.

623B is EX Cancellable now? Time to check on that. If it is, then wow.

EDIT: 623B Isn't EX cancellable... if it was that'd be silly though. Tried it and nothing cancelled. :V

If you do 214A after a long combo it doesn't hard knockdown, I didn't really play her in the PS2 version and don't feel like booting it up to check exactly how it works but it sounded like before after a long combo 214 would whiff and that it always caused hard knockdown, now if done to late you can tech out of it it seems to be about the same combos work to get the hard knockdown but now 2C appears to hard knockdown too which there wasn't a huge flashing label on the wiki about 2C being a hard knockdown that lasts for a while but there ya go.

I noticed this too. Happens due to hitstun proratiion or something, but what you can do and I think works is before you do your confirm into 214A, add in a couple of 2As. It's what I recall seeing in some jp matches and I'm pretty sure it works. It should add just a touch of gravity such that after 214A, they hit the ground a bit quicker. I think.

Forgive my double post, but doing so just in case people don't notice an edit; CPhame, you can go ahead and go, if I do go, I've got my own ride, and if not, oh well. Sorry for letting you know so late, but I hope in the end it saves you trouble instead of causes it, since you won't have to go out of your way (hoping you see this before you get off work..). I suppose I can post again later if I do go or not, but just letting you know that you don't have to come get me.

It feels likely that I'll go but we'll see.

There's a small chance of me going actually. What day would you be picking me up: Friday or Saturday? x: Or how would the plan go? The project has made some progress, and if there's net access there, I might even be able to work on it while I'm there.

Update on my end, there's a likely chance that I won't be able to make it out that weekend, as much as I'd really love to, fff. Group project happening and it's due the following Monday. So we'll see, but I dunno yet. I'll let you know ahead of time if anything changes though, just giving this slight heads up. Either way, this gathering sounds really awesome, and I hope it ends up amazing. :3

I'm trying to take off one of the weekends here at work soon.  They've been giving me Sundays off, but I don't know for how long.  I got in touch with another friend who loves Melty and he's going to try to bring one of his friends too.

Are you free on weekends, Skwuck?  As soon as I get confirmation, I'll keep you posted on what weekend we can go to Denton.

Yeah, most weekends, pretty much any, I should be free. Shouldn't be too much of a problem and I can always bring any work I need to do with me.

And, I hate to do this but I started a new job this week.  They gave me Saturday off, but I have to work Friday until 1am and the following Sunday at 12pm.  What this means is that I would either have to get up super early to drive out to Austin and pick up Skwuck on Saturday and leave the same night, or leave right after work on Fryda (which is around 1am) and then drive off to Austin / Denton and leave again Saturday night.  I don't know how that will work out, but it's definitely going to be a lot of driving.  I probably won't be able to stay Saturday night like I had hoped.

So...I'm going to have to reschedule to get a full weekend off.  If the idea above works for you Skwuck, let me know.  If you're willing (and Texas Tim is willing) I'll go that route -- otherwise, I'll probably have to cancel until a later date.

Which sucks, because I just started practicing Melty again for this weekend.  :(

That sounds... kind of not worth it... x: I mean, I suppose I'm willing, but that's a LOT of driving for one day. If you really want to though, let me know and we can try to work out the details. I think you might be able crash Saturday night maybe, if it makes things on the way back any easier. I don't mind waiting for another weekend if you'd rather wait though (or heck, if you can go without me, that's fine too; it would suck to hold you back just because I'm too far away in addition to your work stuff D: ).

Denton does Melty meet ups pretty consistently every weekend right?  When's the next hookup?  I'll come out there by myself if I have to.  I'll even pick you up Skwuck, if you help chip in for gas.

I'd happily chip in for gas if you picked me up for this, so long as it's not too much trouble. If you're willing to, I'd be really grateful. :3

Lol I feel like I was the only one who really played Melty frequently there when it was there. I could be wrong though. I feel like I'm the only player in Austin though (at least, who checks here..), and I kinda had the same mindset; "I'm just a random player, what could I do?" Oh well. If anything I'll see what I can do about getting up to one of you guys' meetups sometime, somehow...

I vaguely remember a couple of events at UFO that were supposed to have Melty on the side (before CC was sold off) along with the mainstream games, but Melty was canceled each time because of attendance.  I told pfhor about one of them once on IRC and he seemed surprised that there was going to be Melty at some UFO event.  I only saw that they were having Melty there from the SRK thread, which is pretty silly.  Have a Melty tourney and forget to tell Melty players to show up.

Edit: Scanned the event forum and didn't even see any UFO threads, lol.

I remember there being two events that were supposed to have melty (I know I attended at least one anyways..). Each time I went, the "signups" for it started later than expected, and when they did happen, like you said, it was cancelled due to poor attendance. At one of those, I remember there being melty players I hadn't seen before, though I never got their names. But by the time melty was ready, they had already left. And when there was going to be one, I think all that was given as a light mention in this thread.
