Meh they gave her a jacket and a sweater, it's hardly different.

Also I swear I NEVER see any Vatista vids.

She must be ass.

GO FIGURE

I dunno, this Vatista seems to be doing pretty well for herself. Gem explosion oki/pressure looks vicious.

There's also the problem with Chain Shifting in that some characters, *cough*Linne*cough*, can keep the combo going long enough that they can get off multiple Chain Shifts per combo. Combine that with a lack of hitstun deterioration and you get people figuring out infinite loops to burn 80 seconds off the clock.

The only thing I'm excited for is the announcement that fb is going to be making major system changes to the game.

Hopefully they tighten this garbage up.

From what I know, they're throwing out patch 1.01 to nerf into the ground fix Chain Shifting this Thursday.

Results of the tourney, courtesy of Komidol:

Quote from: Komidol
The winner of the Club Sega tournament held by French Bread (the game's developers) to commemorate the release of Under Night In-Birth has concluded.  The winner, in a 2-1 victory, was Jin!  Jin was using Hyde throughout the tournament.

Amongst the fighting game community in Tokyo, Jin is a very well-known player, most renowned for his play with Hisui in Melty Blood. Within the top 8, other veteran players such as Reteru and Yume placed as well.

Also, someone figured out a 36 second long combo on Linne. It seems to cap out at 4.8k damage, but that could be freakishly annoying to get caught in if they just want to run down the clock.

Hooray for wikis!

Pardon the double post, but I stumbled upon this wiki for UNIB. Wiki Has this been posted before? It has info on the character's moveset, combos and such.

Yeah, those are the cut-ins for the Infinite Worths/Verses.

I wonder if Hilda will be playable if they make a PC/console port or if she'll stay boss only.

Someone posted a translation of the System page on this site.

Quote from: Hectom on Dustloop
The System page has been added to the official website of Under Night: In-Birth yesterday. The very good news is not only it has no comeback mechanics, it also rewards better players big bonus.

Here is our summary.

There are only 2 gauges that you have to pay attention to, EXS and GRD. This game really requires strategy as both of them can fill each other.

EXS (pronounced Exis)
- It is on the bottom left or right of the screen.
- This is similar to SF4's Super Combo gauge.
- Full gauge is EXS 200%. Half gauge is EXS 100%.
- It is used for EX version of special moves. EXS 100%+ is required.
- By pressing A+B+C at EXS 100%+, the character will enter Veil Off state. In this state, you can use EXS moves as much as you want in limited time until the gauge depletes to 0%. (Veil Off consumes all of your EXS.)
- Veil Off activation moment also works as "Burst" which pushes opponent away even under hit-stun.
- In Veil Off state, you will also get GRD bonus from actions.
- Ultimate moves called Infinite Verse will be usable at EXS 200% or in Veil Off state.
- Ultimate moves called Infinite Verse EXST will be usable only at EXS 200% and while opponent has 30% life or below, and you must use between a combo while having max Veil Off. This is instant death move.

GRD (Grind Grid)
- It is on the bottom center of the screen.
- Your GRD will increase if you are in a good situation, and decrease during a bad situation.
- GRD Vorpal is activated each time after the circle is filled with light. If your GRD is more than opponent at the moment, the circle will turn into your color (red or blue) and you get the benefits. The circle will then be reset again after it is filled. There is a chance that the circle will always be your color if you can maintain the momentum. If both players have the same GRD when the circle is filled, the circle will turn white and no one gets the benefits.
- In GRD Vorpal state, you do extra damage.
- In GRD Vorpal state, by pressing D twice, you can convert all of your GRD into EXS gauge. This action is called Chain Shift. Moreover, Chain Shift will cancel the ongoing animations, returning you to neutral again so you can continue a combo or use it for frame trap. The GRD circle will turn white after using it.
- You can boost your GRD by holding D. It can also decrease opponent's GRD. This action (called Concentration) consumes EXS.
- You will get GRD bonus when blocking an attack using Shield. But if you get hit while using Shield, GRD Break will occur. GRD Break will reset your GRD.
- Shield (press D while blocking) requires some EXS (around 20%). If successful, you will gain a lot of momentum in GRD.

Other features
- There are 4 buttons: A (light attack), B (medium), C (strong), D (EXS Action).
- There is something similar to P4U's Auto Combo, called Smart Steer. You get a combo by pressing A>A>A>A.
- Assault (forward + D) works like hop (for hop attack), midair is possible.

Looks like Chain Shift can now only be done if you're in GRD Vorpal. I like that a bit better than the "Mash Chain Shift whenever you have GRD available" that they had before.

There's also an Astral-esque version of the Infinite Worth (now called Infinite Verse) called Infinite Verse EXST that you can combo into when they're below 30% health.

The names of the voice actors were announced:

Quote from: SolxBaiken
VAs were announced in that issue of Arcadia:

Hyde: Kimura Ryouhei
Linne: Sakura Ayane
Waldstein: Ishii Kouji
Carmine: Kondou Takashi
Orie: Hayami Saori
Gordeau: Toriumi Kousuke
Merkava: Kiuchi Hidenobu
Vatista: Touyama Nao
Seth: Kaji Yuuki
Yuzuriha: Fujimura Ayumi
Hilda: Takada Hatsumi

13
Seth's orb pressure looks like you can do hilariously lulzy crap if you can scare your opponent into respecting it. Dude is flying all over the place and still locking them down.

It really looks like they smoothed things out for a lot of the characters since their first introduction videos. The new effects aren't bad either.

14
Pretty massive update to the official UNiB YouTube channel.

15
Jourdal uploaded the latest two to YouTube:
Seth vs Yuzuriha
Yuzuriha Mirror

16
The more I see Yuzu, the more I like her. The teleports look fun, especially since she can Mist Finer > teleport and stay in stance.

I believe I have yet to actually see anyone roll tech in the videos. The closest I've seen was during the Gordeau vs Orie at 3:00 where Yuzu does a MB-esque tech back into the corner rather than a BB roll. I'm much happier if they keep it that way.

18
Lots to this one~.

There will be a loketest at Akihabra on the 30th. Seth and Yuzu will be playable and possibly voices.

Additionally, there will be a pre-release tournament at Summer Festival 2012 from 9AM to 4PM with finals hosted from 4:30PM to 5:30PM on August 5th.

Also, Yuzu birthday fanservice art!

19
It got retweeted by UNiB PR, so that's probably a safe bet.

Googre Tranrate says that there'll be another loketest in Tokyo at the end of the month. Then something about 10 characters, voices, and two plans.

20
Apparently UNiB will be playable at Game Summer Festival 2012 on August 4th. Hopefully we'll get a decent amount of footage from it.

22
I'm hoping that them making a blog post that they expect to be done in about 3 months means that they either have the voice acting issue sorted out already or are very close to finalizing it.

23
Back to normalcy; Chibi Orie released this time along with an announcement that the loketest was quite popular.

24
More movelist translations courtesy of SoWL.

Quote from: SoWL
Orie:
Divine Thrust (236A/B/C) - A quick thrust forward that may whiff on sitting small enemies. The B version can be charged. The EX version is faster and goes through the opponent.
Sacred Spire (623A/B/C) - An anti-air multi-hit attack. The EX version deals more hits.
Come Forth/Command Order (214A/B/C, can be done in midair) - Summons Orie's Stand that attacks the enemy. Different buttons perform different attacks, and you can follow up the attack with the same input. The B version is the upward sword slash that can be followed up, the EX version is the multi-hit sphere of light that appears near the enemy.
Luminous Embrace (41236D) - Infinite Worth, makes Orie shoot a wave of light at the enemy. Easy to use, since it's pretty fast.

Gordeau:
Mortal Slide (236A/B/C) - Gordeau attacks with his scythe. By inputting the command again, you can pull in the opponent. The EX version performs an additional grab attack after the pull.
Grim Reaper (623A/B/C) - Gordeau spins the scytche, covering a lot of space. It seems like he can even hit the enemies that are behind him. The EX version blows the enemy away.
Assimilation (214A/B/C) - The command grab that drains a single GRD charge. Seems like you can grab with it even while the opponent is in midair?
Name unconfirmed (22A/B/C) - The A version is a low attack with the scythe; B and C version make Gordeau jump, spin the scythe like a helicopter, and perform an overhead attack. The EX version is a faster B/C one.
Turbulence (41236D) - Infinite Worth; Gordeau performs a long combo with the scythe. He continues it even if the first hit is guarded. The last hit blows the enemy away.

Waldstein:
He's a bit starved for the gameplay info. The only decent info that is written here is that his 360 can be performed in midair and its EX version waits for the enemy to get near him, and that his 214A/B/C is a rushing grab with a long start-up. Oh, and he seems to have a special attack against downed enemies, but there is no confirmed input for it yet.

Edit: An update on Waldstein, Hyde, Linne, and Carmine by SoWL.

Quote from: SoWL
Figuring out Waldstein is harder than I expected. His 236 is a long-ranged swing that moves him forward a bit, with the EX version swinging a couple of times more. That's the simple part, though I'm not sure about the reason he has this move (maybe it has super-armor?). But then you see all his different throws, see that only two of them are written in his movelist, and things get messy. So far, he seems to have:
- A regular throw
- A regular 360 "huge damage" throw
- An aerial version of the 360 throw
- A rushing wall slam throw (214A/B/C)
- An anti-air knockdown throw
- An overhead (blockable?) throw that can hit jumping opponents
- A throw that bounces the opponent off the wall and can combo into itself (and can hit them while they jump, too)
- An Infinite Worth super-throw

I'm almost sure that, like with Kira from Arcana Heart, some of these throws are just different versions of the same move, but still, that's a damn lot of throws to work with.

EDIT: And for the last three characters for now...

Hyde:
Black Orbiter (236A/B/C) - Shots a spinning round projectile that returns to Hyde after a while. It has two follow-ups: 236A makes it explode without returning, 236B makes Hyde step forward and attack at the projectile's position. The EX version deals multiple hits, allowing Hyde to attack while it's still launched. Also has a similar aerial version, though it doesn't seem to have any follow-ups.
Name unconfirmed (22A/B/C) - Hyde stabs the ground, attacking with a weak shockwave. The range of the shockwave depends on the button pressed.
Red-Clad Craver (623A/B/C) - Your regular shoryuken-like move. The EX version performs a short combo which rushes to the opponent before the actual shoryuken.
Vacant Shift First (214A/B/C) - A Gauntle Hades-like jumping attack. The distance traveled depends on the button pressed. You can follow it up up to two times, with the last hit knocking the enemy down (I guess those are Vacant Shift Second and Third). The EX version performs the follow-ups automatically.
Gyre Vortex (41236D) - Infinite Worth; Hyde stabs the ground with his sword and creates a red whirlwind around himself. Can OTG, blows the enemy away.

Linne:
Can double-jump.
Sky Fang (236A/B/C, can be done in midair) - Linne shoots a small quick projectile. The distance it travels changes with the button pressed. The EX version deals multiple hits, allowing Linne to attack while it's still launched.
Moon Circle (623A/B/C) - Another boring anti-air move. The B and C versions deal more hits than the A version.
Fog Skin (214A/B/C) - A couple of quick slashes. The EX version is a long auto-combo.
Name unconfirmed (63214A/B/C) - Linne makes a small jump forward and makes an overhead kick.
Cannagi/Calm Goddess (41236D) - Infinite Worth; Linne makes her sword bigger and performs a spinning attack, finishing with a pillar of light.
She also seems to have rekkas, but there's no clear info on them yet. Maybe it's that 214 move.

Carmine:
Doesn't die when his health would reach zero because of his specials. His regular throw restores some health.
Spiiin! (236A/B/C) - Drains some health and creates a spinning projectile that hangs in the air for a while. After that, it turns into a puddle of blood and may be used with other specials. By performing this move again, the puddle moves closer to the enemy. The EX version makes a bigger projectile.
Name unconfirmed (623A/B/C) - Carmine attacks with blood crystals around himself. If there are any puddles near him, the attack seems to go up.
Name unconfirmed (input unconfirmed, can be done in midair) - Shoots forward a long crystal for some health. If done in midair, the crystal falls on the ground and turns into a puddle.
Oraa! (214A/B/C) - Makes a blood crystal erupt from the ground. The EX version creates a bigger crystal, locking down the enemy in hit stun for a while.
Rise! (22A/B/C) - Lays down a blood puddle. Can be followed up by turning the puddle into a crystal that hits the enemy. The EX version makes Carmine jump and throw down a couple of puddles that immediately turn into one large crystal.
Hyahahahahaha! Suffer! (41236D) - Infinite Worth; Carmine shoots a couple of crystals that deal many slashes when they hit the opponent.
Seems like he has more setup and puddle activation options that are not covered yet.

New video: Gordeau vs Orie (NicoNico). Looks like people are trying re-jump x N, but the combo prorates too heavily to continue partway through the second jump.
