The idea is certainly cool but I think the pool of players willing and able to both invest the money to go and make it a viable trip is pretty low in the first place. Therefore I'm not even sure a qualifier of our own is worth it. We know more or less who's pretty good in our scene and I think rather than shooting for "we should send the best of the best" we should aim for "we should send a team that's decent" because it's a little more realistic in terms of finding people to go.
Are we ready for something like this? Yeah I think so but the biggest crutch anyone has is going to be the financials and time commitment.

http://pastebin.com/ZgtC2DQj here's an archive of JP tiers from a JP BBS compiled by grungrah.

When I spoke to JefferyManson he said he personal list was:
Quote from: JefferyManson's Tier List
In general,

SS:F-hime C-roa
S:F-Vakiha, C-arc, C-seifuku, C-kohaku, C-Nrvnqsr,  F-Pciel, F-aoko
S-A? : C-Warachia, C-nanaya

but i think

S::F-Vakiha, C-arc, C-seifuku, C-kohaku, C-Nrvnqsr, "H-kohamech",  F-Pciel, F-aoko

But I would say my personal list is:
S: C-Roa, C-Arc, F-Hime, CF-Nero, H-Kohamech, C-Seifuku
and then following Butterfree's general character list from there.

Tournament Results / MELTY BLOOD Transcendental Orchestra Results
« on: May 05, 2014, 05:39:02 PM »
Obvious spoilers and etc.

VODs of the broadcasted parts of the tournament should be coming soon to youtube, you can watch the Twitch restream VODs over at www.twitch.tv/mrrayza. Thank you Rayza for restreaming and archiving the tournament!

---------------------------------

Format was 4 groups of 4 teams playing roundrobin, top placing team in each group advances to the finals.

Block C was the only block that was fully streamed, the results for that block were:
Yomi, Ragu, Kou: 3-0
Hare, Batsister, Garu: 2-1
AOI, Hikonyan, Kuga: 1-2
R-LY, Meinia, Motomachi: 0-3

Yomi, Ragu, and Kou then advanced the finals, the rest of the teams to advance were:
BLOCK A: Kouki, Akaren, Hirohiro
BLOCK B: Aware, Ari, Saba
BLOCK D: Okuu, Takashi, Utamaru

The semi finals then commenced about an hour later the matches were Okuu's Team vs Aware's Team and Kouki's Team vs Ragu's Team.

Okuu's team narrowly beat out Aware's team with the matches coming down to the wire. Hirohiro on Kouki's team managed to crush Ragu's team on the other side.

The finals were determined to be Okuu, Takashi, Utamaru vs Kouki, Akaren, Hirohiro.

Okuu's team fought hard but was no match for the White Len terror. In the end Hirohiro clinched the series for Team Kouki and won the tournament, leaving me short $20 dollars because I bet Kouki's team wouldn't win.

Over 2.1k matches added this morning. Some of the stats stuff has broken from some changes I made. But you know those can be fixed more leisurely.
Enjoy!

Hey guys, I've started up work on the DB again.
Please vote in this poll about netplay matches: http://strawpoll.me/1572321

Other than that transcribing has started again and I'm expecting for the first update for new matches to be early May. New features will be coming after that. New features may show up inexplicably or randomly within any time period between now and the near future.

Pete, do you plan to do YT mirrors of the Before Red-White (not Red-White lol) series that took place in 2012-2013?

http://www.nicovideo.jp/search/Before%E7%B4%85%E7%99%BD?track=nicouni_search_keyword

I think you got some of the later ones, but not all of them. Only check I did was searching up Evu H-Nero vs Sekitsuka H-Nanaya on MeltyDB and got nothing.

The Korean Melty channel webgori has some mirrors recently up of the vids as well (although not all of them?).

I will definitely upload those, I wonder why they were missed when I picked up where MeltyBread left off.
Other than that, I think I'll add the webgori/jay jo stuff to the database maybe. I know they have some cool offline content.

Thanks for the heads up.
Actually looks like webgori beat me to it haha.

Hmm. If possible I'd like to see rating 1-5 stars. It's not like it's hard to find good matches; japanese matches are usually good, but rating would make it easier to find the best matches right away when you want to try a new character.

I'd also like to see more names in higher winrate statistics. Maybe top100? Sometimes you want to know who are best players of character X so you can watch his matches closely. Melty Blood has 90+ options, so a big number would be necessary I guess. Another option would be higher player winrates by characters (I actually think that's more interesting =x).
Once pagination is up and running I'll enabling full results for every category. Eventually I want to have it being one table that you can sort however you want.

The recommendation system would work something like the 1-5 stars maybe and would tie directly into player pages. On player pages you would seen what their stats are (win rate by character+moon), what region they usually play in, known aliases (with the ability to add more aliases), recommended games, and i think i'd even throw in a link to their twitter if i knew it. something like that.

Cool to see interest for some of the features, I'll start work on those after the weekend probably. Canadian Thanksgiving and all

should i add you to skype now for when i want to call in or during the show?

Yo, how's it goin?
So MeltyDB has come to a point where I feel like a lot of necessities have been taken care of, thus I figured why not poll around for what to work on next. I have many ideas but I'm always open to more.
Here's what's on my list:
  • Pagination
  • Advanced searching by winner
  • Better player searching
  • Player Pages
  • Match recommendation system
  • Login system for favoriting/other things
  • Combo video archiving
  • Site redesign / Backend redesign
I've been approached a couple times about expanding MeltyDB to include other games, this is something I've considered as well but it would have to be a game I really enjoyed. As I've stated before, if someone else wanted to create a DB for another game and is willing to do most of the transcribing, I'm more than willing to support them on the web side.

I'm currently scheduling myself to work on the first two and the rest are just ideas I've had in my head for a while. Let me know if any of these appeal to you or maybe if you have your own suggestions, please feel free to post em here or lemme know any other way.

hey, sounds awesome.
I'll be sure to even call in

Thanks for the update Pete.

http://i.imgur.com/lyBG5Ao.png

I didn't know you could see into the future.

Also, with some searches, I don't seem to be receiving all the results. I've tried in 3 browsers but they all seem to cut off at the bottom. Maybe it's just me.
thanks for pointing out the date mixups, that's been fixed. and strangely enough the result cut-off thing seems to only be happening with F-Akiha and GAME-acho results. very strange.

EDIT: Fixed the issue. I don't completely understand why what is happening is happening but I've fixed it for the moment.

Just a quick update, I'm able to dedicate more time to the DB again. The korewamelty youtube channel is caught up more or less to nicovideo and I've begun transcribing things like mad again.
Should be soon when we see an influx of new matches coming in.
Thanks.

Tournaments and Events / MBAACC South Kanto Singles Tournament!

Alright so I came across this while on Nico but looks like there's a new JP MBAA tournament going on. So I figured it would be nice to let people know its going on. I don't have any affiliation with the folks that are putting this on so there's a lot that I don't know.

I've compiled the information from the JP spreadsheet here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AppCh3mTo5BMdDdOTGlkUmVKOGc3Nk1VMGZKeV82OFE#gid=0

Original spreadsheet:
http://goo.gl/ozQL1b

I'll be updating it as things go along and hopefully I'll be able to find some answers along the way.

Finals date hasn't been decided as far as I know and whether or not it'll be streamed is anybody's guess.

As some of you may have noticed, updates on the site have slowed to a crawl. I'm just really busy working 8-13 hour days and there's tons of stuff that I've started to implement and haven't completed. I'll try to update the site with more matches in the coming weeks but no promises. I'll keep our youtube channel as up to date as I can so when the time finally comes, all that needs to be done is some cataloging. Once school starts back up I'll have more time to dedicate to the site.
Thanks to everyone in the community for continually letting us know they like the site.
