Please don't take this away from me before I even apply.

By far the biggest reason why H is worse than C is the lack of good specials. Slow activation 214s/j.214s means you have a harder time zoning.
Umm, isn't H-Sei generally considered to be a rushdown character? Either that's changed (or was wrong to begin with), or maybe we're trying too hard to play her like C-Sei.

DUSKY~  :D  It's great to see you here!

But you're bringing me pretty grim news. In the end, what's H-Sei's biggest issue? Clearly startup and frame advantage are at least normal. Is it attack levels? Priority? Lack of "moving forward" normals? For Tsubaki, I can at least see Tager IB'ing her 5A into a Tager Buster, or Ragna just outright snuffing out everything.

Are you guys still here? I'm applying for college, and Rutgers is supposedly my safety net, so I thought this might be interesting to look into.

CSei's combo is easier, gives better oki, and she has better chances of confirming hits into it.

Does...it do as much damage? Or have as much swag factor. Yeah, I'm definitely pulling straws here.

Wait, does C-Seifuku have anything like this? Forgive me, but I'm still trying to justify using this character over her.

I've never been to conventions like these, but shouldn't it have something like a message board? Next year, you should speak with the event organizers to see if they can help you set something up, spread the word, whatever. A man and his laptop could mean anything at public events (especially at Anime conventions  :laffo:), and so it's not really a surprise that no one approached you or paid any mind, sadly.

I'm sure you could also gauge interest with the actual convention goers this way with a thread, basic info, w/e. Sure, chances are the level of play is not gonna be stellar. In fact, they could just be literally 10-minutes-in button mashers with no sense of how to play a fighter. Some will be content with that, others will want to get better. Don't sleep on either group when trying to form a community or to just mash buttons for fun. Be inclusive and proactive and things will look up as long as you're realistic.

Finally, try attending actual fighting game events or meet-ups in your area. Hell, I heard Smash kids love anime most of the time. Some of the better players I've recruited come from SSBM.

Hmm, I see what you get there. I'm fully aware that I did not make myself very approachable, but still, I was grasping at straws for literally anything. Then I jumped ship to BB for awhile :P I've recruited plenty of Smash kids into anime, few into Melty Blood. In fact, the few I did recruit, got bored of FGs besides SSBB in general. It's kinda frustrating, really. But I mean it when I say that there is really no FGC here in Edison. I've thankfully met quite a few chill dudes in NJ at the NEXT this year, but none of them came from anywhere near my township. I'll try again this year, and will keep this thread updated to catch anyone from NJ who might think he/she is alone.

Okay guys. Major disappointment. No one arrived. Let's do it right this time. 2014 here we come:
Pre-register today or tommorow with discount code: wonder
This will reduce adult passes to $35 bucks, and group passes to $30. I want to see you damn people here this year. In the meantime, does anyone have a trendy gaming PC available with MB installed on it? My cruddy 13" attracted no one. I'm almost done modding my stick, so I'll be sure to bring that once I've learnt how to use it.
Let's get people in this thread first, and then begin splitting into groups and brackets if we get that far. If you have any questions regarding location and times, contact me as I now have the experience to answer these types of questions.

Middlesex County? Sounds as close to middle NJ as you're going to get.

Wow, that sounds tough   :o   Hope things turn around for you soon~

And as for the scene, it looks like SSBB again this year....

Psst. You sure? Two days added together is about $90, but the three day ticket is about $55-$60 if you can get enough friends to go.

Yeah, I thought so. This stupid pad I'm using can't read 2 inputs, only 1 and 3, so a I'm having a weird time with DPs, hence the 236C on wakeup. Thanks for the info about the 4 frame buffer though.

I suspect we will be there probably just the 7th and the 8th, save the  sunday fee to get a figure/statue  :nyoro:
You are aware that the three-day fee is nearly identical to a single day, right? Might as well buy the three-day ticket, and then come in for 2 days. Way cheaper than buying 2 one-day tickets.

EDIT:
Good work taking initiative, guys. Hope y'all can pull the magic 8 for a tourney or something.
Thanks, although any match against me is free, so I can't include myself as a viable tourney contender.

Deja Vu.

You can 623B through a lot, but multi hit moves (Nero 5[C] for example) beat it up if they're spaced properly. What's happening when you're doing it? Are people beating you out after it comes out?
I'm pretty sure it's on my end, since I often end up with 236C on wakeup. I can't tell though, because I don't see anything comeout, other than the "Counterhit" notification. If it's anything like ID though, it shouldn't give a damn about meaties. I usually get called out with 623B on wakeup after a Ciel air-throws me at the end of a combo, and attempts to dive. Sometimes I can beat them out, sometimes I can't.

I like seeing the boards active, so I'm gonna throw 2 things out here:

<1> The "Nanaya-style anti-air." What is it, and what makes it famous?
<2> How does his 623B compare with Inferno Divider? I know this may seem off-topic, but I have often been mashing 623B in situations where ID would work, but to no avail. Aren't they both invul from startup?

I and a friend will be attending animenext, look forward to some melty blood action :3
The one at Somerset? YES. HELL YES.

Would you happen to be bringing your own peripherals? The moar PCs, the better too. Like I said, it's gonna be kinda awkward with me sitting at a table playing on my laptop all by myself when I've paid $55 bucks to get into this place.

So, what days are we all attending? I'm going for the 3-day package.

2B is a better poking tool. In general, though, combos in Melty are so freeform that it doesn't matter what you start from.

The 2C 214B 2C thing is the side switch combo, I believe. I do 2B 5C 214B tk9.22 2C 236B 2C etc. You're so close after tk9.22 that you're technically on the other side (in the corner), so you reverse inputs even though it looks like you're on the same side (out of the corner).
Thanks once again Sacchin for your helpful explanation. :teach:

And thanks to the developers for making sprites that have stupidly deceptive animations :slowpoke:

I've noticed that apart from certain strings that absolutely need it, the 5B starters are nearly identical to the 2B starters. Any suggestions on reformatting?

EDIT: BTW, the wiki listed 2B>5C>214B>j.22>[2C>214B>2C]>ender as a corner combo. Has anyone gotten this to work? I don't see how you can do the part in parentheses. The second 214B clearly wallbounds, and does not allow enough time for a 2C followup.

Well, it is a tutorial meant for beginners. Besides, j.[C] occasionally gets kinda finicky after long ground strings followed into 6AA>22B>2C. Not exactly optimal proration string, but it's all we got. I personally like 2C>5C>6B>j.BC as opposed to 2C>5C>j.ABC. Wee bit more proration, and + style points.

I contributed my limited knowledge on a few chars, but with a roster this large (and 3 moons each), there's a lot of work that can be done.
Then thanks to you on that~ No sweat, a little here and a little there, and we can eventually pull this off. With UNIB around the corner, I don't think we'll see updates to MB anytime soon.
