Is something wrong with my eyes?

At 2:59, it seems like he hits a knocked over Len with 5B. I was under the impression that that was impossible.

And I know it's Denpa damn it, that isn't the point.

all this comes from a guy who sucks at melty blood. you fucking failed at using nanaya, of all characters

lolololol

dont go around making topics about people who suck at mb while you pretend to be good. faggot

The advice was sound, though the presentation was aggressive, as evidenced by the amount of agreement in this thread. I fail to see why him losing to you matters at all.

Furthermore he never claimed he was good, in fact, he explicitly stated that there were people more qualified than him to give advice.

I have a question about this video. a little after :08 he performs 2c5b 623c OTG, and I can't seem to nail it for the life of me. I was wondering if it was a practical combo to learn for the execution requirements, as I can't seem to nail it after two hours of practice, and the execution requirements seem a little up there and it doesn't seem to add THAT much damage over 2c->623c.

I know this may seem like an odd thing to bring into the discussion, but has anyone tried comparing the average technical skill of musicians* from the two countries? It may shed some light on the source of the skill differential with regards to fighting games. As the popularity of music seems to be quite high regardless of the nation you're in, it may be possible that a comparison of the general technical skill of musicians from the two nations could shed light on whether the problem is a question of an under-active scene in the US or whether some other sociological phenomenon, like a strong cultural emphasis on discipline, is at work here.

*Both fighting games and playing a musical instrument require mental and physical dexterity, and technical skill isn't that difficult to measure.

When I lose a lot I keep asking for rematches until the other person doesn't want any more. Practicing against an opponent who is better than you is how you improve, after all. Well... aside from training mode, which I hate.

Though I'm not going to dispute that this does generally make you better, it should be pointed out that improvement can be sped up DRAMATICALLY if you consciously notice your mistakes and make a deliberate effort to correct them. I think this little fact tends to be overlooked by FAR too many people.

I almost never get discouraged when I lose. Usually I start giggling, I think fighting games are fun, and playing against people who are better than you is a good way to get better. The only time I ever get annoyed is when the reason I lost was because I repeatedly failed to nail a combo I should have, because this implies a personal failure on my part.

I know this guy who is a bit of a dick about losing who I netplay occasionally. See, he has quite a bit more experience than me, and I've been playing against him since I just started, which I think was about a month ago. I think the problem is that I played against him a lot and I adapt at a reasonable pace, so I started improving rapidly and he wasn't expecting me to start beating him in a third of the games we play together so quickly. Whenever I win, I watch in amusement as the cursor immediately drops down to "once again" after the fact.

replays would help us diagnose your problems

I would, but fraps rapes my computer and I have no idea what the hell a .rpd is and nor does google.
C:\Program Files\EcoleSoftware\MBACWIN\Replay

Yes. I know where the files are but I can't DO anything with them. I can't find anything to read them or convert them.

It didn't help but I found and ugly workaround.

See, I can nail the jump throw in the string when I start the 2c closer to the target, but at that distance it just doesn't seem work.

I have another stupid question about the circuitless ground combo. I've noticed that if the 2c is thrown out at a certain range and both hits still connect it's almost impossible to hit with the air throw? Am I doing something wrong  like not delaying the 5c long enough, because I've been altering the timing on it and it's not helping, nor is altering the timing on the jump throw. I can't really find a thread offering a comprehensive view of jump throwing's mechanics on the board.

Also, the combo isn't useful if I need my face practically in the enemy's crotch for it to work, although the problem is alleviated if I throw in the optional 214a before the jump throw if I'm not so far that it misses.

I'm having serious trouble hitting with the air grab in the circuitless BnB in the first post when fighting a standing still dummy in practice mode, clearly I am a mental cripple.

Does anyone have any advice they can offer me?

Delay the 5C after the 2nd hit of 2C. If you do it too fast, your opponent will be too high to connect a jump throw.

Turns out my problem was different.

9A+D doesn't seem to airthrow.

I am Frau Blücher Abstract Nonsense.
I've been playing this game for about two days now and I find it very fun. Netplay is awesome, and it's what I've been looking for in a 2-d fighter for some time now. Currently I'm in the process of picking a main and getting a hang of the games rather odd input rules. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with either Akiha or Satsuki.

Currently I suck...and I'm based in NorCal.

Welcome to the madness.

Where exactly in Norcal are you? A few of us have been trying to find people around the San Francisco area to go to SFSU and play. But if you're not around here, you might be closer to SJSU, which has a more active community.
I have seen the madness and it is glorious, it's like using Noise to terrify children and small dogs, endlessly entertaining.

I am located in San Mateo County, specifically in San Carlos on some weeks and in Redwood City on others. So...I'm sort of smack dab in the  middle.
