Maannnn, EC is too gutter. Too gangster. Too keeping-it-real-like. When times get rough for hungry MB players, we get down to the nitty gritty. You hand us lemons, we make explosives out of them. Take away our venue to run an MB tourney - fuck it, we hit the street vending machines :psyduck:. Yeah, that's right, this past weekend's ECMB 'revival' attempt literally took place on the mean streets of Chinatown, NYC.

The event was originally supposed to be held partially at Chinatown Fair arcade (CF) and later in a commodious venue (known as THE GAZEBO) but plans were abruptly changed when the issue of a power supply to the laptops was overlooked (my bad guys  :( ). Many :sadfaces: surfaced and profanities were flying out and about - mostly by yours truly  ;D. THE GAZEBO was victim to energy piracy on a few occasions in the past but for some mysterious reason we got no juice this time around. While some were twiddling their thumbs on what to do at the time, other MB soldiers (sp00ky & Zaelar) dispatched in search of other available options.

Option 1: ...The latrine. Yes....a bathroom.....what in the hell! This bathroom was located about 30-40ft below THE GAZEBO and ironically....it had a power source. (Why must God taunt me?). Well, having 15+ ppl entering a public bathroom for some MB was definitely out of the question for many (lol not me though!) so the next best option was to buy several extension cords equatable to 40ft, and have it run up the wall and on to THE GAZEBO'S floor then connecting to the laptops in that manner. Wow...so crazy that it might just work!

...But sometimes less crazy works too. Thankfully, Sp00ky/Zaelar took notice to a 'small house' at the other end of the park grounds. Hmmm, the odds of a power supply in that area does seem probable and sounds a lot better than siphoning energy from a restroom  :V. What the heck, let's give that a shot. Plan A: Toilet Energy Vine (not real name) was bumped to Plan B and Sp00ky , Zaelar, and myself marched off into the unknown.

We turn the corner of the house and eventually take notice to two vending machines against the wall. Hark! Lights are emanating from the banner of a Snapple vendor. There...could...be...a chance. Spooky dips behind the machine and locates the outlet while I prepare to feed him the laptop adapter I had ready for any outlets that may have caught our sight. Its plugged in and we wait....

GREEN! The light...it turned green! OMG We have powerrrrrr! Adrenaline courses through my veins- fueling me with much hype just as the city will soon be fueling several laptops when the others arrive. We give Chibi the word to escort the gang over and the most poor melty blood experience ECMB has ever experienced commenced that night...in a park....in front of two vending machines...on the pavement.  :prinny:

Goddamn, this event was something else! Mad fun though. Very surprised at who showed up and the distances these ppl traveled just for some casuals and a $1 tourney! If thats not hunger then some of y'all need to check into a clinic. Before I give my long ass list of shout outs, I'd like to thank all of those that support the scene, helped out, and didn't knock my head off for the random fuck up. GG's mah niggs.

Sp00ky: mah, nigga the Vicula of Meltyvania. Thanks for letting me drag you out to this despite there was a good chance that ppl werent going to show up (even though this wasnt the case). Shows you still care about the game, your game, and the community. Stay sharp, brutha.

Zaelar: Dude, thanks for staying hungry all these years and doing this shit on a whim. Lugging all of that equip and sharing the stick was much appreciated. Good shit taking the tourney but I'm looking to get that No.7 w/ the side order of eggrolls for myself next time.

Chibi: you too, dude. I know you got some shit that needs to be taken care of atm so I'm very appreciative that you made the time and sacrificed(?) to make the event. Good shit w/ Hisui, man. You stepped shit up quit a bit (uuughh? blockstrings!). Don't get randomed out next time though  :-*.

Tinshi: .......you random. Came out of the park shadows to get down on dat mb. Gooooddd shizindfaldjrahtwjoien. Keep playing to see the results you desire...or some zen shit.

Nightroad: O M F G. Dude, h-h-how!  :o Do you know where you live!? I do! Kinda cool to randomly meet one of my 'clients' IRL. You got some good stuff going on with almost half the cast, nice. You still playing the wrong char though  ::). Props to you and your boy, Kamina for making such a long trek (I dont want to know how long  :psyduck:) for a few hrs of MB.

Baod: Were you.....THAT BORED? Canada? CANADA! Holy fuck, I cant even think of a word that explains that sort of dedication. You damn Canadians and your 7hr trips to play shitty doujin games that ppl dont play. Hahah much kudos to you, sir. I really hope you can make it to another event in the future. And if you do show up again, your ps3 stick is banned. Too damn gdlk.  :slowpoke:

Zan: "Who's on first?" lol j/k. Some funky movement you got there w/ aquiha. Gotta hop on those elbow loops and get off that re-act mode! I wanna see 5k combos next time plz.

Hyperhal: you bum, why you holding out w/ the wara sexiness. Glad you stopped running that joke of a char though. Lets see some wara-beastage next time around. And that mb-garbage joke wound is still healing  :emo:. Damn youuuu!

Makoto Scrub: yup, it's time to get back into mb. Going to try and run this back a few times so you'd better practice. What to see hair-band gayness next time around.

Phae: GOOOODDD SHHHH. Radiobag is srs bsnss. And to think, it was only at half power! Max volume would have surely gotten us arrested lol. Find out how to take those speakers out for an even distribution of MB bangingness. We definitely mugging you fo' yo' sheit next time around.

DarkSaint: Good stuff coming through for the early XMas lol. I'll try to do the event a bit earlier so we can get in more casuals after. Until then, you should mess w/ stick a bit more cus you werent doing that bad in cf casuals. Thanks for helping out w/ brackets too.

SumAnzDude: I know you hungry! Feinding to lvl up that crazy maid bitch. I'm glad that you're one of the few AH players that care enough to acknowledge MB and put in the time to practice stuff. When you're not watching AH2 vids, hunt for those H&K match vids cus I would like to learn how to fight her b.s. more.

Nas: ...you so bunz lol. Why you play everything, dog? Thanks for keeping the interest despite lack of comp in your area. Practice, dammit and stop playing bunz gaymz.  :-\  j/k

Yo, if I forgot someone just tell me I suck next time you see me or something and my bad.

And now....

  • What the hell is #Mages-Association, Zar?
#M-A is a channel devoted solely to the Aoko user. Whether you don't know how to get started with Aoko, seek improvement in your game, wish to discuss strategy and high-level play or you're just a complete Aoko fan-boy- this is the haven for you.

What was originally intended to be a player guide/tutorial, "evolved" into a sub-community erected on IRC to mentor beginners and provide a place to discuss the more complex notions between seasoned players.

With Aoko being considered one of the few characters in MB with a steep learning curve, I felt that it was necessary to organize a focus group of sorts in order to network better with other players and help speed up progress with those just starting out or trying to step up their game. While the number of members in the channel are few, I feel that many of the regular attendants (including myself) have greatly improved since the channel was started.

So If you're interested in trying your hand at Aoko as a main or sub character or you're already a current user who wishes to share some of those tricks you have up your sleeves, drop by and see what we're all about.

  • So how do I join this fantastic channel, now?!  :fap:
Server: irc.mizuumi.net
Channel: #mages-association

Just grab an IRC client or software and enter the information above.

This however is a slightly faster method:
1) http://mibbit.com/chat/
2) Click server (top-middle) and enter  irc.mizuumi.net  in the box.
3) In the channel: (mid-right) box enter  #mages-asscoiation
4) Change your Nickname (mid-left) to whatever you think sounds cool
5) Click GO! And that's it. Just give it about 10 seconds and you'll be firing off finger lasers in no time.

If Mibbit is not for you then try out one of these dozens of other clients.
IRC Clients

  • Will it always be "OMG, Aozaki Aoko 100% SRS BSNS!!1"?
Although the channel does mostly focus on Aoko-related topics, we do from time to time discuss other interesting things that may pop up with other characters in MB. There have even been occasions where other fighters (3S, GG, EFZ, etc.) have been mentioned and discussed briefly in the channel.

However, deviating too often - rather never contributing anything to the "main" discussion (e.g. you talk about LOLIS ALL THE TIME) or not interacting at all (i.e. idling for weeks at a time) will likely get you kicked and eventually banned.

Players should come in the channel with the intention of learning the ins and outs of Aoko (heheh) or leaving other members with a bit of advice/info that will help us all improve in some way with the character. Please consider this before joining.

  • I just want to learn anti-Aoko strats/How to beat this orb-camping whore...
"If you know both yourself and your enemy, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss." - Some Old Chinese Dude

What better way to learn how to smash Aoko than by learning about what makes her work?  If you come in the channel expecting a simple answer to your match-up problems VS Aoko then you probably won't get it (although you could be clever about how you ask). We'd be glad to help you get started on learning Aoko and explaining how to approach certain match-ups using her with you though.

  • But my Aoko is is ass. I'll just waste everyone's time...
Everyone has to start somewhere. I've seen quite a few members grow into competent Aoko users by simply asking questions, being patient and determined when training, doing independent research and experimenting as well as getting feedback from others in the channel. Aoko isn't really a character you can pick up in a week and it will take much time, practice and ass-beatings before you notice improvement. Stay true, stay blue and stick with it!

Zar Month 1 Aoko

  • But my Aoko is already GDLK. I'll just be wasting my time...
There's always room for improvement no matter how nice you may think you are. Even one of Japan's top-ranked Aoko users, JefferyManson@Ero, is always finding new ways to tweak/refine his gameplay and create more bizarre techniques and setups to keep up with competition. As more people are starting to get into MB outside of Japan, you can believe that the quality of competition will become more demanding. Will your game be at it's best when that time comes? At #M-A we always try to spread new ideas that will help us stay on top of our game.

...Plus you don't want to keep all of that godliness to yourself, do you?  :teach:

  • So what's this thread for then?
The thread is mainly for presenting any issues you may have when trying to connect to mizuumi.net or the channel. Feel free to also leave any comments or feedback you may have about the channel or its members. Crazy IRC quotes and funny moments or what have you are encouraged as well.

I'll be personally using the thread to post any "special guest visits" that may occur or any long leave of absences that I may take which will likely occur when I'm back in school.

If you wish to post any Aoko MBAA related information please refer to any of the three threads listed below for your convenience, to avoid any unnecessary clutter here and to leave room for troubleshooting & shoutoutssss  :toot:.
