Excellent timing. Its a good thing I decided to check up on this thread.

Id like to attend this event but I need help from my Jerseyan friends: Chibi and Zaelar.

If I dropped by your place (chibi or zaelar) would you guys give me a ride out there? Do you even plan to drive out there or would i have to bring some extra dough for another bus trip (plz say no to the latter  :'().

@LK
Am I expected to pay a fee for the tournament portion of the gathering (there will be a tourney, right?) or is this strictly for bragging rights?

Will matches be recorded?

You got a chinese food joint around your way?

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: MBAC Ver.B PC

Is there any way to post suggestions on the mb site because i would REALLY like to see a beefed up training mode for pc. Can you say record mode or crouch guard all or stand guard only or progressive guard?

as for mbac verB2 being on ps2.....uuuhhhh.....no. they wont get the speed correct im certain of this. hell im kinda skeptical about pc ver having the correct speed.

and for you pad/keyboard warriors: dont do it to yourselves. If you intend to play this game competatively and should mb one day blow up w/ a possibilty of sbo qualifiers being on the table....YOU WILL BE SAD  :emo:

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: The Bara Cancel (Bunker Cancel) Thread
« on: June 14, 2007, 06:30:37 AM »
i haven't been able to successfully do this, but is it possible for aoko to bara cancel into 623C? i'm assuming the motion to be 21462D3C or something like that...
I've actually discovered another way to pull off bara 623c moves by using 62143d~c. After some testing, it seems that 623 and 421 moves have priority over 236 and 214 moves (not sure about 22 moves) so its very unlikely that 214c will be exe'd over the 623c in this command.

how it works:
62143d~c

6(first part of 623 command)

214(completes bunker command as well as inputing second part of 623 [2])

3d~c(finishes 623 command while still holding the buffer for bunker)

be carefull when going for this in heat mode because for some reason the game thinks 62146d~c is an Arc Drive  :o  :psyduck:  :mystery:. So you must be extremely precise w/ the command, not grazing 6 at all, or just dont go for it in heat mode.

btw - bara ex orb is better(?) cus its easier (when used properly in between spaced out chains) and you get some meter back when (if) it lands. Problem is that it has like no invin startup and is likely to get beat out so try not to use it against someone spaming 2a's. However if you do manage to perfect bara 623c, stick w/ that. (I should actually practice this myself).

*why kouma has two different sets of kanji for his name - i have no idea.  :mystery:

...daaaayum. that setup is quite fierce  :psyduck:.

it may be weak against wakeup jump (theory) so test to see if you can ge away w/ iad>airthrow if the jump is attempted. Also when you cross over them w/ iad>236b , does it hit wakeup jumpers (or is it supposed to whiff)? Try and test w/ jumpguard set. If the cpu gets hit then you know its really solid.

BEEP BEEP....

my turn...

after being discouraged for many months to play this char i finally decided to load up mb and practice those damn tk packs x n. After a miserable day of practice (i kid you not) ive finally passed basic lvl mh and moved on to intermediate...aka the gimmickssss.

throw>random mixup is definitely one of mh's strong points and is now my primary motivation to play this char (tk packs is secondary  ;D).

onward to the meka-beats:

THROW

(midscreen)

1) hold9>dj 8[7] (just be for the opponent hits the ground)[1]>late 236b[2]
[1] - at this point mh will turn while airborne and face the grounded opponent . you can dj 8[7] earlier so that you DO NOT switch sides (resulting in NOT turning around while airborne). this is an important aspect to consider when you or your opponent is placed near the corner and you want to gain advantageous positioning.

[2] - the late jet pack will push the opponent toward you. take this opportunity to tick>throw, wait>throw, tk 236b>throw (mh moves back, then quickly lands, allowing you to sneak this in), or iad j.x shenanigans (iad j[c]>throw or iad jc>dj cb mixup). As you can see, the possibilities are mindblowing  :psyduck:.

2)hold9>dj 8[7] (just be for the opponent hits the ground)[1]>late iad back j.c (using 4a+b)[3]

[3] - so now your opponent has caught on and bsteps away from late j236b...good, thats what you want. late iad back j.c will cross the opponent up, forcing them to make a split-second correction on the controls in order to execute a well-timed and proper bstep. assuming they guess that you when for jetpack, they will end up reeling into the late iad back j.c

(corner)[4]

1)jump, superjump, dash jump, etc.>late j236b[5]

[4] - ok, its not EXACTLY in the corner but leave just enough space to slip between the corner and the opponent after the jump (a few pixels).

[5] - shenanigans again. after they block the jetpack you can go for similar iad 'gimmicks' similar to above. instead you iad BACK j.c>throw6,iad back j.b (more randomness), or tk 236b throw6.

[6] - ...wow, it doesnt seem to stop. well, you MAY want to throw them AWAY from the corner in this situation so that you can setup again - this time leaving them w/ no option but to fall back into the corner (bstep or block jetpack).

...meka....MADNESSSSS

late jet pack WILL NOT work on the following chars do to their 'cheater' heights:  >:(
Len
Arc
Hisui(s)
Akiha(s)

i hope this proves useful to ALL THREE mh fans in the US  :'(.

btw- the jetpack-side-switching gimmick that you guys mentioned is hard as steel. need to practice that for added randomness.  :psyduck:

623A                       O                                                     X
vs crouching

                        Ciel                                       Arc
                        Miyako                                  Kouma
                        Kohaku                                  Satsuki
                        Warc                                    Warakia

                        Nanaya                                   Akiha
                        Shiki

This list (623A) displays hit(O) or miss(X) vs characters crouching the 2nd hit of 623A where X results in a complete whiff.

421[X]                          O                                                X                         Approx.
vs crouching

                            Ciel                                   Arc                       (oops)
                            Miyako                               Kouma                  1sec
                            Kohaku                               Satuki                   2sec
                            Warc                                  Warakia                1sec
                            Sion                                   VAkiha                  4sec
                            VSion                                  Akiha                   4sec
                            Aoko                                   MHisui                  3sec
                            Chaos                                 Hisui                     3sec
                            Shiki                                   Len                      6sec
                            Nanaya

This list (421[X]) displays what characters are able to crouch 421X (where '[X]' is any button). When held ([X]), the orb gradually descends over a period of time. The time that is adjacent to the "X'ed" character gives a rough estimate of how long you would have to hold the orb before it will actually be able to strike that character while crouching.

1016
so its 'B2'...got it. -lol-

1017
CONGRATS, man. I'm so happy for you.  :toot:

....wait. you mean MBAC:CE, right?  ???

1018
I find in a few match videos a 623A after a shield bait works wonders. It usually leads to a nice setup especially in corners.
yeah, but isnt as effective at midscreen. the opponent has too many options to evade a follow up as opposed to landing it in the corner. Sadly this is her best option when antiair shielding and normal shielding (held). Its not as sexy as nanaya or sacchin 5a (antiair) but it gets the job done. Blue could use antiair shield 2a or 5a vs jump-ins and followup for damage + knockdown (CH5a>2c>5c>3c>aerial) but the hitboxes for both are extremely low to the ground, sometimes producing a whiff, and it is also harder to CH multihit jump-ins (e.g. shiki j.b, nero j.b).

1019
Although I'm pretty sure you'll get to this sooner or later I wanted to ask you this after watching a few matchvids. After doing Aoko123x236C I noticed a few times if you were at mid screen you would 421C and super jump behind it. I'll go back and take a look but I just wanted your input on the uses for that (punishing tech back, training them to fall for other things, etc).
Wow, you're probably referring to the GDT finals of yesteryear (http://youtube.com/watch?v=fTBD_7k-_D8). Boy, that was quite some time ago - back when i was still in my noobish experimental stages and well before I came into contact w/ JM. I had no knowledge of her "full" bnb and midscreen mixup was a foreign concept to me so i simply relied on:

6ABC>236C>421[C]>superjump earlyJ.214A

At the time I was under the impression that this was an effective strat that allowed me to attack my opponent on wake up as well as retreat to a held orb to initiate another onslaught of orb defense (which i was also weak at). Bleh, utter trash. Wakeup/okizeme is too crutial to piss away on such nonsense (now i know this fortunately =D) and Blue has much more effective and intimidating setups that I will (hopefully) go into at some point in time. I did apreciate your post Masamuna and reviewing the old footage brought back memories of how "nice" I was (suuuureee i was #1 in the US playing like that). I even managed to "modify" the above garbage into something that may prove to be actually useful:

Opponent about 2-3 char spaces away from corner:
6ABC>236C>421[A]>superjump earlyJ.214B OR 2149B (tk'd orb)>land and release orb>IABD J.CB OR {J.[C]>land 2B}

6abc236c will push the opponent about 1 to 1/2 char spaces away from the corner - just enough space to squeeze in between the held orb and the corner after performing j214b. j214b will push them toward the corner (and you), then you should release the held orb upon landing and while starting IABD. The released orb will result in more push-back into the corner. The opponent will be in block stun while youre decending w/ your hi/lo mixup, where j.cb hits high and j.[c]>2b fients the high allowing you to go low. hmmmm now that im thinking about this again....you could even fient the attack (j.[c]) and throw! But still, i dont believe this strat is as effective as say: 6abc>236c>421|b| *results in the opponent having to stay in the corner
while defending against 4c, throw, IAD shenanigans, etc.* But its still randomly good to add to your arsenal (cough "Ambiguous/Situational Setups")

1020
but based from this video, http://youtube.com/watch?v=LnD0PvDjZtY
i will say if you can not perform better than this, you should not participate in SBO yet. it is not worth the money.

Man if there was anyway you could use your old Saitek you'd be using that shit, don't lie.
ERRRRNNNNTTTT!!! I-N-C-O-R-R-E-C-T.

As tempting as it may seem to you, choosing a saitek over stick would be -EV for me considering the fact that mb is gradually becoming more tollerated(?) and accepted in other fg communities.  Its only a matter of time (got $$ on next yr.) before the population accumulates enough ppl for it to be deemed 'worthy' of an 'official' SBO qual.

And do you know where those quals will be held? Youd best believe that TGA will be a likely candidate =D.

And do you know what TGA will be using to operate mb on? thats right, ARCADE CABINENTSSSSSSssss! And arcade cabs have *gasp* -omg- STICKSSSSSsss.

Assuming you got really chummy w/ your trusty non-stick peripheral, conveying muscle memory or whatever you may have learned will not be a simple task because....ITS MELTY BLOOD......ON STIIIICKK!

Play on a saitek? why the fuck would i do that to myself? so i can not compete to my fullest when it comes time to collect that dough?

awww sorry chibi, your inference was wrong but you do win the consolation prize....INTELLIGENCE. what he will do with it folks...no one knows.

Holy Crap! I expected Chibi to be the first to start this thread only because we've organized team (Zar, Master Chibi , Zaelar), for an entire day, dedicated to deciphering the 'true' lyrics. The end result was what chibi had posted (w/ some editing here and there). However, it still makes zero sense . It seems to me as if the composer pulled some random black dude off the streets, recorded voice samples of him saying random shit, then pieced it together in no particular order   :blah:.

Type-moon (or someone) should seriously consider holding a cash-prize contest for figuring this unintelligible shit out. Runner-up gets to bitch slap both the composer and the 'lyricist'.

@Hintalove: the song will grow on you after a while. I used to think it was the dumbest bgm in fg history (leave marvel out of this!) but now its my second favorite training stage and it often gets me hype in casual/tourney sessions  ;D. I'd still like to know what the guy is saying though  ???.
