EDIT: New build up guys

http://www.mediafire.com/?g134p7p5r8kbm8p

[16:49:35] <sat0ri> Changes:
[16:49:37] <sat0ri> 1. Client downloads server's memory card data to stay in sync. When the session ends, saved games persist only on server's side;
[16:49:37] <sat0ri> 2. Frameskipping after slowdown due to packet loss should be fixed;
[16:49:37] <sat0ri> 3. Some stability issues addressed

Everyone has to update to this one if you want to get the benefit of the save data stuff.

EDIT: lmao this default memcard is on fucking arcade balance, don't forget to change that shit before u play or practice anything.

I said it sounded like a similar system based on what he told me.  Gleam of Force was never mentioned as a comparison in the conversation.
Well, thats what I remember reading, sorry to misquote you.

Also GoF Netplay was really good.  Netplay connections from 500 miles went smooth, and I was even on a playable connection with the Japanese sometimes (from East Coast America).  Frenchbread is no small doujin developer, they are one of the longest outstanding doujin developers in existence.
I think you are grossly over exaggerating the quality of GoF netplay because it was passable enough to mess around but not some shining pedestal of awesomeness (although I never really got into that game anyway so if you say so...). Besides, even Twilight Frontier, arguably an even larger doujin developer hasn't had the greatest success with their netplay either, and they too had caster implemented into their game before.
Quote
I don't think Emu play which allows me to practically mash out of string-tight pressure and doesn't properly process active/recovery frames with no respect to the game buffer (gattling gun combos with no timing) PLUS the fact that's it's netplay with netplay delay that apparently Desyncs without warning can come anywhere close to what a well-funded FrenchBread could do.
That doesn't really happen. This thing has lag, yes, but its not as extreme/fucked up as you're claiming it is. Not that I'm advocating this netplay as a super flawless brilliant experience, its a mixed bag but hell, its MBAA netplay, its functional, and problems tend to be more about individual computers and connections than the program itself in my experience. If you want to play as serious as a offline tourney, sure, its not going to work out, but for casuals/people having fun/learning some new characters, it's enjoyable compared to playing MBAC again (hell, I've played over 300 games on this thing or more already)

Quote
The developers and publishers of these AAA-budget fighters think that the quality of the online play matters little in regards to how well the game sells, and management allocates resources to other areas?

There's a reason why the best-functioning online code for fighting games have been, to date, independently produced.  I actually think the genre having bad online functionality holds the entire genre of games back. Granted, things are stacked against it -- it's much harder to mask latency in a fighting game than... well, any other type of game, really, and the way XBL/PSN handle matchmaking right now is ill-suited to fighting games.
You do have a point, but honestly when the game is basically being bundled as a bonus with an anime you have to admit it makes you wonder if they even have the chance to really put the effort in. As far as a port goes its not like theres any significant work from moving it off whats basically windows xp on Ringwide.

Quote
It looks there no actual delay in this netplay.

 :psyduck:

what

77
Yes there is lol, if big companies TRYING to market to the west can't make decent netplay what chance does a small ex doujin developer have anyway? Gleam of Force netplay was also pretty rubbish, and Komidol talked about them reusing the netcode.

78
Then you're probably the most faithful(delusional?) fanboy here and I can only hope they prove me wrong.  :nyoro:

79
I'd have to disagree.

The consistency of the playability of the game seems a bit random sometimes. d3 seems to mean anything from like d3 to d6 depending on the connection. Packet loss is also handled badly, after the typical lag slowdown you then get frameskip "catch up", which just screws people over even more.

1 and 2 seem alright though, but there is emulator lag to consider. All things considered though it's better than anything French Bread is ever gonna do anyway, and it can only get better since satori still wants to work on it.

Edit: Also, all of you outside of the US. What events do you want them to know about? I don't know of any majors outside of the US.

we don't run events at "majors" in europe because they're all pretty much terrible and its easier to organize our own smaller meetups and venues. Anything we do ranges from like 5 to 20 people basically staying at somebody's house or at a venue for a weekend.

Honestly I think out of everything I linked the only thing that was tournament footage and not casuals from before or after was the Finland Oulu thing, other tourney footage as explained isn't available anymore.

EU, those spanish speaking countries (sorry, forgot where you guys are all from), and whoever else (singapore, etc.) need to step up and start posting up and representing their scenes. I know you guys have live recorded tourney footage hiding around somewhere. We need to let the fat cats know that a potential market lies not just in the US but other areas as well.
Well there are 3 dumb complications. Out of all the main meetups for AA that have ran, Frostbolt/Frozenwave's channel got deleted which had the footage from the latest (better) ones it, one that was streamed ShoMeYaMoves deleted the vids before we could reupload them elsewhere, and we had no capture device at the last one last year.

I have some random footage. Disclaimer - most of it is either day 1 or first time playing AA with real people. The level of play we had later on isn't anything amazing but it wasn't THIS sloppy at it's peak in 2011 and 2012 lol. If you dont want to throw in shitty play like this in there its cool.

I might be able to get some vids of some german/netherlands meets later

Just wait for the standalone release...I mean they can't possibly lose out on releasing it like that when the thing is packed and ready to go, right?

Anyway, with regards to console, it's honestly probably worth remembering that MB looks old, it's not HD and it doesn't even look that good in smaller resolutions (like VP and AH3 do), and it's 2d, AND they don't have the resources to do netplay. Combining factors like that make it unlikely that FB/TM could sell it on PS3/360 as a disc release, or even at a decent price on XBL/PSN since both companies have silly QC standards for things like that. Whereas as a PC application they can get away with it, and don't have to deal with regional publishing stuff, as neither of those companies really have any real experience in dealing with their foreign audience.

Whilst obviously none of that means console versions are out of the question, I doubt a disc console release can happen for the game, and even if it does, is it really better if people have to jump through hoops making japanese XBL/PSN and stuff to get the game? (I'm not even sure stuff like that still works, I know I did it a long time ago to download the RE5 demo on my 360 when it was out in Japan early, but I'm pretty sure I heard that the XBL Ougon release is locked...)

On the flipside, if it did hit as a downloadable game, it might get picked up/localised by AkSys or something. But that's another IF. At least we can ALL get this version when it hits, and there's no split. There's also some info due about MB and UNIB at TGS.

Hi, sorry for taking so long with this...long story short is I had to go dig out my really old pc/harddrive and was having difficulty finding the correct stuff needed.

I decided since it's such a hassle I'm going to just rar the entire thing and dump it, have fun.

pukka's server died.

If you need the framedata, I still have my scans, etc, please PM me, post here, or yell on irc if you particularly need something. Considering how many versions we're behind now I kind of doubt anyone really cares about this anymore though, and there's still framedisplay etc.

EDIT: its alive again

I don't even really read the forums anymore, would have commented on this otherwise.

I like the idea, its neat but honestly, it's a little flawed. Most of the people who would want to tune into stuff like this tend to watch these videos when they come out/subscription/random browsing nico or whatever so rewatching it with some bros ain't quite as hype. The whole idea of the community tuning in to watch stuff together like this is awesome but if you plan to make it a spread out thing ( I know this isn't your fault either ) with submitted vids for a session then it's harder to get viewers, so maybe something like a community snychtube would be a better idea? Not that we don't like hearing you put JP players on blast Fox  :teach:

I'd also like to see like particular ideas on focused chars instead of just general vids.

I'll throw some vids your way, if you want some other help or shit with it I'm totally up for it.

Good shit, and good luck.

3.3 - The model will be All vs All, and in case of high ping (delay 8 or more) the players wont need to play. Instead, the result will be considered "neutral" and will be harmonized with the player's overall results vs the overall results of the other players. If the delay is 7 the match have to be played.

how can you even play above 4 delay, shit's unplayable

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: what should i do with out competition?
« on: December 01, 2010, 04:01:36 AM »
If you don't have competition then Find/Make some; you'd be surprised how many people play fighting games (especially now that super is such a monster), and often they'll either play Mb, something similar, or be more than willing to learn with you.

trying to do this requires such dumbing down of your play to not piss new people off it's so frustrating though. And then people get too lazy to put effort in anyway...almost worse trying than just grinding practice mode, at least the training dummy doesn't keep asking to play something else.

like seriously, practically everyone I've ever succeeded at getting to try the damn game can't chain into ANYTHING even after I try and give them advice and never blocks no matter how much you politely suggest it. Most people who actually have the drive to learn games are usually so dedicated into their own game it's difficult to make them really care too.

/rant

Go to meets anyway though...they are fun as fuck once you get to know some people and goof off, shit isn't all just about playing videogames.

I like to break down aspects of chars that I look for when I pick mains.

I like long reach and fast movement, and really "chunky" blockstrings (stuff that's good on block and hit to just throw out). I like chars who have a kind of "my turn" philosophy, when you start momentum it's tricky to stop (but really a lot of MB chars can do this, just applies to other games too)
