(copypasted from SRK)
Hey guys, welcome to the 3rd unofficial "Chicago Heart" tournament series! I'll be in Chicago in August, and I figured that while I'm there, why not throw a tourney? I know it's 2 weeks after evo, but the date is set for that weekend (8/13 or 8/14 hasn't been 100% decided yet), after that, its a matter of finding a venue and people to help run the tourneys, as well as to bring the systems. The game list isn't 100% set in stone either.

Anyways, the location will be either in Chicago, or in the chicagoland area. Depending on the interest depends on how big of a venue I'll want to get. If it doesn't seem like many people will show, then I don't need to rent a big place. On the other hand, if interest is high, then I will do what I can to rent a bigger place.

Date - 8/13/2011 OR 8/14/2011
Location - Chicagoland

The game list is tenatively:

Definite games:
Marvel vs Capcom 3 PS3/360? (run by ???)
Arcana Heart 3 - PS3 (run by HeartNana)
Naruto 4 - Gamecube (run by ???)
GGAC - PS2 (run by Elvenshadow)
Street Fighter IV - (run by Humbag and ???)
Soul Calibur 2 - (run by digimonemperor)

Maybe's
Blazblue Continuum Shift 2 - If CS2 isn't released on the PS3/360 by then via patch to BBCS, then it will not be included in the tourney, and will likely be replaced by guilty gear.
Melty Blood Actress Again - If people will come for this game, it will be run. If there's no interest, then the game will be canned.

I don't have an exact amount yet, but there will MOST LIKELY be a venue fee of $10, $5 off if you bring a system+game or tv, and $10 off if you bring both.

About team tournies - While I do like the idea of team tourneys as well as singles, it comes down to an issue of time. In addition, MvC3 and SFIV bring in a lot of people, and running both of those games at the same time seems difficult, as well as running teams/singles for both. For those games, just the singles tourney might be best, but I'll accept any feedback.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to ask. Any interest whatsoever will help too! If you're free to help run a tourney, that'd be great, too!

-----

So yeah pretty much, if people are willing to travel, bring setups, run the tourney, then im totally down with having it there. I'm gonna be busy running stuff, so I can't run Melty, but if someone is willing to, I'm willing to have it there. I just need to know if anyone will come.

Also, Saturday or sunday? Which would be better for anyone whose planning on showing up?

I'm confident I could have matched heartnana as well, but that didn't happen. Oh well.
That didn't happen cause you lost before you were able to reach me in the brackets. So obviously you didn't match me. You got to play our team in the team tourney tho, and lost to my partner, so if you couldn't beat Syxx to play me for the decision making match, then that's your own fault.

If you wanted to play, you should have said something and put money down. I would have totally played a $20 money match against you.

Didn't record me rocking sp00ky's face off?

Obviously the guys with the double h-vsion team were the smartest guys there.
My hat goes off to you for thinking of that, everyone else just assumed the same character stacked on a team would be disallowed.  :emo:
Wow, a sore loser AND a sore winner. Way to be mature. ::)

Oh, I see...

Maybe if I see you, I'll recall who you are, but I don't know just from the screenname, sorry.  :-\

6
My goal for this tourney is to not get completely trashed by Heartnana or Sp00ky. If I can manage that, I'll be happy.

Sp00ky's matches in NEC intimidated the hell out of me, haha.

I still owe Heartnana a rematch for embarrassing me at ACen like 2 years ago in MBAC when I played Miyako and fought like a scrub.

In any case, TP and I will be there for sure. I'll try to drag at least Kilos and Nigba/Thana as well.
Who are you?

7
Kobayashi - Sounds good!

I don't even have my own room at my parents house anymore, so I'm unable to house anyone (or even have anyone over) this time around. Sorry. I myself am actually gonna be sleeping on a couch, or in the guest room.

I may or may not be able to pick you up depending on the date, but even if i did pick you up, you would be on your own for the trip BACK to the airport (since I, too, will be going back to the airport not too long after FF). It would be great to see you again, but since I'm gonna be in Chicago on vacation status, too, I won't really be able to be nearly as accommodating as I was the last time around.

I'll be there, and I'll be accepting money matches for MB:AA. I'm pretty scrubby and n00by at the game still, but I'll take any money match loss as a losing experience. Hope to see a buncha people there!

Im 100% sure it was the Miyako.

Deguchi played Kou and lost. I was thinking that Deguchi went against Kou first because the round before, a Ciel player destroyed Kou. Kou ends up beating Deguchi's Ciel.

Then Kubo plays MiruMiru and perfects him in the final round. Mirumiru is pretty famous for being a godlike Miyako player, and I remember who played who.

Kansai raped MB this year. Deguchi/Mirumiru are both Osaka players, Kubo is a Kyoto player, and Kou is also an Osaka player iirc. I know he's kansai, cause i see him at all these osaka tourneys.

Anyways, Im glad my hero won. Not only did he win, he won the last round with a PERFECT. Too pro.

And in semifinals, kou got beasted by a ciel player, Kubo destroys his guy, and then destroys the guy who beat Kou.

Kou steps it up for finals and takes out Deguchi's Ciel with some crazy shit I didn't know V-akiha could do. It was awesome.

Everyone plays SOOOOO safe in MB. Its crazy. People don't get hit for doing the wrong moves or whiffing, they get hit cause they messed up blocking the mixup. Its so crazy watching that.

Im happy that both those teams made it to finals, since those are the only two teams that I actually know, haha. I saw Deguchi in Monte Carlo on Thursday, and was talking to him for a bit. He was telling me about how he qualified for Melty, and I wished him good luck earlier before melty started on sunday at SBO. Seeing his team get that far was really cool.

Byakko - Depends on what type of moon is used her her I think. Full moon doesnt seem very rushdown-y at all. Half moon seems like shes best at mid range when her moves have larger range than yours, and in crescent moon, her moves lost the huge huge range, so shes prolly best at rushdown there.

Hey, change of plans,  It's gonna be Friday night to balance out stuff for me to do those days. Changes reflected in the link in the last post.

Not that anyone is even going anyways...

BUT TO THOSE WHO ARE, PLEASE BRING A LAPTOP! Ill be bringing mine, but if we can have 2 setups, that would be ideal.

20
Nice job to vic, as always. <3<3<3

JUSTIN!!! REP THAT SION!!! lol

GG's to everyone i played. Once again, thanks to whoever brought that awesome setup with those two sticks (they were REALLY good imo)

RTP - I saw you sunday, but i was running SC3 i think, so i didn't get a chance to play you or your GF. :(

Im not really sure who i played against. There was a Miyako player, another Sion, an Aoko, and a couple others. GG's to everyone though!

NappyJin was the guy who "ran" the tourney. He was game room staff, though. Webster was the big black guy.

GGs though, we only played a couple games, but it was fun. :)

The tourney still happened, it happened on UltraCarl's laptop. There were only like, 11 people or so, but it happened nonetheless.

GG's to everyone else i played on that killer setup. :D
