Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: So where do we go from here?
« on: May 08, 2012, 02:42:55 PM »

Btw it has nothing to do with skill, it's attitude.  If you actually presented yourself intelligently rather than act like you're on 4chan all the time, people might have paid attention to you for more than 5 seconds

I also don't know why anyone would tell you guys not to come, are you sure it wasn't a troll?  Especially when the tournament numbers are so low

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: List of Character Short Names
« on: January 20, 2012, 05:30:51 PM »
Read description on left sidebar

A lot of the short names that we use nowadays were lifted from the system files in the original PC version of Melty Blood(back when it was a doujin game).  For example, Akiha Vermillion/Sekishu Akiha was just "VAkiha" and Red Arcueid/Bousou Arcueid was "Warc".  Even though these characters are not officially called that anymore, the names have persisted since they're a lot easier to say and write

As for Archetype Earth being called Hime, it's what the Japanese Melty scene calls her.  We use the Japanese name to avoid search string overlap on Youtube.  If we just used her original name "Archetype Earth", people searching for Arc videos on Youtube would also get Archetype videos mixed in.

It's that time of year again.  These are a series of 3on3 Melty tournaments that the Kanto and Kansai regions hold every year.  Pretty much all of the top players from the respective regions come out to these, and videos usually get recorded and/or streamed so it's a good display of the highest caliber of Melty gameplay.

Akiha Tohno / Re: F-Akiha Combos & Setups

Edit: What are you all doing after a raw airthrow?  I can't seem to land and followup with anything big, so I've taken to just doing j.A sdj.C2C.
raw airthrow land 5a4c into aircombo of choice.  You can probably do something a little more fancy if the airthrow makes Akiha corner the opponent.

You can try doing the tigerknee jumping backwards.  So the input would be 227c.

Alright, I played a ton of Melty today and it seems that F-Akiha still plays pretty much the same.  To sum it up, she's gotten several damage nerfs from PS2 version and the only thing she's gained is 623c otg relaunch.  So she still plays the same, it just takes longer to kill the opponent because of less dmg.

I also streamed a really quick F-Akiha tutorial 2 days ago

Quick summary:
Most significant nerf was in 412(fire knot) series.  It used to do 1700 dmg, with no prorate in PS2.  It now does 900 dmg with 50% prorate.  This is a pretty big hit, ex. knot into throw used to do 3000dmg on VSion, now it does around 1500.

There's a bunch of other assorted damage nerfs, but the ones that stand out the most to me are in 4c(840 dmg and 80% prorate, compared to PS2 925dmg no prorate), 5b(600dmg 90% prorate, compared to PS2 700dmg no prorate), and 2c(1000 dmg 55% prorate, compared to PS2 1200 dmg 60% prorate).

Deathtrap still works.  It just does less damage now because of the 412a change.  Ex. Deathtrap on VSion does 4000 dmg, it used to do around 5000 in PS2.

623c OTG relaunch is nice, though I can't really judge how much it adds to her game.  So far, it seems really useful for getting a full combo from a far 2c hit.  It's also useful for extending combos to send the opponent into the corner, if you don't feel like learning the corner carry combo with a flurry of j.a

My request: Call mauve.

I'm not paying for practice and story mode.

I am so fucking getting this, cost whatever it may cost!
This is the best possible news i could hope for. PC version baby!!

Why the fuck do people want a console version anyways? With consoles you are guaranteed shitty load times, bad compatibility with controllers, ass netplay (if any), and the hassle of inserting that fucking disc and turning on the machine every fucking time.

PC = Double click the icon and you're in Melty HEAVEN.

Nero Chaos (Nrvnqsr) / SAT's Nero matchup list for MBAACC
« on: November 26, 2011, 12:18:41 PM »
Top Nero player SAT made a somewhat early matchup list for Nero in 1.07.  Interesting that he thinks the Hime matchup is slightly advantageous.

Disadvantage: CH-Nanaya, CH-Warc
Slight disadvantage: CF-Arc, HF-VAkiha, CH-Ciel, (H-Roa)
Even: F-VSion, C-Mech, Miyako, HF-Kohaku, CH-Wara, CF-Maids, (F-Aoko)
Slight advantage: C-Seifuku, CH-Shiki Tohno, C-Hisui, F-Hime, HF-Sion, F-Kouma, F-Ryougi
Advantage: Satsuki, F-Ries, HF-Len, Akiha, CF-WLen, H-PCiel

He states that H-Roa and F-Aoko are in parentheses because he hasn't played many strong players using those characters in 1.07, so it's a guess.

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: Is Melty both accessible and deep?
« on: November 13, 2011, 03:37:53 PM »
In general, Melty is a very simple game especially if you have prior fighting game experience.  People who start with Melty as their first fighting game will most likely find it difficult, but I'm sure you could make the same argument about any game.  The basis of doing damage is in chain combos.  There's a lot of freedom in what you can do at any given moment(too much sometimes) and all of the move motions are simple(no 360s/720s, no charge characters, etc)

I will say though that starting from AA, the series stepped up its difficulty level.  It's no longer like MBAC where more than half the cast had the same exact same combos.  You actually get rewarded for having good execution now, but it's not a requirement.  There are some characters that require really good execution, like F-Arc, C and H Kohaku, and F-Kouma but they're the minority.

Corpse hop mixups are definitely reactable...  I wouldn't really call them guessing games.

In general, Melty okizeme is pretty slow so the only unreactable mixups are fuzzies.  Luckily fuzzies for the most part are very situational, but there are some characters like Len that get to do it for free.

Oh? Looks like they changed the properties of H-Miyako's elbow drop. It now bounces them rather then cause an untechable knockdown. It seems as though they also buffed up her damage.
