Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: Me vs. Turtle
« on: May 23, 2007, 06:44:44 PM »
Just pretend the Flamepit isn't there.  If he's going around randomly casting flamepits everywhere(especially if they're the A or B versions), then you're not going to be losing that much life from standing on them.  The only time regular Akiha's flamepits become a real threat is when she casts the EX Flamepit when she has you in the corner.  If he's randomly casting the EX Flamepit everywhere, then..  just let him waste his circuit  >:D

Akiha Vermillion / Re: Flame Pit - can someone explain its uses
« on: May 17, 2007, 06:02:38 PM »
Akiha Vermillion's 22C lasts for 30 seconds versus Akiha Tohno's 10 seconds. After a few seconds, the flame pit will start draining life, healing Akiha Vermillion.

What's the use behind Akiha's flame pit, then?

Besides the uses that Dakanya talked about, of draining life and circuit, regular Akiha's flame pit is mainly used for the ignition.  Since V. Akiha's EX flamepit lasts much longer, V. Akiha will usually make more of an effort to try to keep them pinned down on the pit, but Akiha usually just does some blockstring into the flame pit ignition(22C again), which gives her huge frame advantage on block.  If they jump and get forced to block the ignition in the air, she gets the sexy unblockable, and if they decide to stay blocking on the ground, then Akiha gets to do her 50/50 mixup(2A vs TK j.2C) while opponent is still in blockstun from the pit ignition.

Kohaku's Video Room / Re: Game Dial 110
« on: May 09, 2007, 01:21:42 PM »
Some new 2 on 2's got uploaded on this site..  seems like there's 6 new ones.

http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~gd-nanpon/taikai/20070428mbac.html

Can anyone translate the player names?  :V

Also, check out that hot picture of Dizzy on the frontpage of the site.

EDIT: After watching the videos, some of these are really bad..  there's a godawful Nanaya and Akiha in the earlier vids, and there's even a Kohaku that spams 214A/B somewhere.  Luckily, there's still some good stuff...  the Mech-Hisui player is crazy good, and there's a really awesome Kouma and Warakia player.

Kohaku's Video Room / Re: The Combo and Strat Video Thread

Sweet. FT is kind of disappointing, but do we have any for download specifically? Arcuied, Nero would be nice. Ver B in general is even better just because the others are FT.

I don't think the Nero ones are available for download, but I do have a hard copy of the Arcueid one, so I can send that if you want it.  Most of the videos that are available for download can be found on the author homepages(or video descriptions) that I have linked there.  A few that I remember that still work are New Days, ANUBIS, Tohno Akiha Movie, Longing, and Disconnection

Kohaku's Video Room / The Combo and Strat Video Thread
« on: May 08, 2007, 12:27:35 AM »
I got this idea from the old combo video database thread on Dustloop, and decided to make one here since there's been a lot of videos released for Melty Blood.  The only videos that will be listed here are for Melty Blood Act Cadenza(all versions) and MBR FT 2.501B, since I feel that videos made in the really early versions are too radically different to be useful.  Each entry will include the name of the video, a Youtube link of it if available, the author and his/her homepage if available, the Melty Blood version it was recorded in, and a description of it in the case it isn't a normal combo or strat video.  Note that if a direct download of the original video is available, it will most likely be on the author's homepage.  You can also look at the list of links that Youtube has under comments and favorited.  Also, since there's just been an overwhelming amount of those multi character combo videos released, I'll only list the ones that I feel are memorable.  Feel free to suggest any additions to this list, or correct any mistakes I've made(like on author names)!

more White Ren action, just one video though
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kDev2Aa5fY

333
I like how over half of the video was old footage from Yukinose's previous Akiha combo vid.  In any case, great video, nice editing, and that combo that he does near the end on White Ren is pretty mind boggling.  Though I have an idea of how that combo works, the execution required for it to go off correctly must be really high.  It doesn't seem to be very practical too, though it definitely looks awesome!  Time to practice it

Also, lol at using Red -reduction division- as the BGM, those of you that are familiar with old MB combo vids should know where that song was also used  :teach:

The rest of the videos from the a-cho 3 on 3 are up..  crazy stuff, with OCVs all over the place.

some White Ren videos we discovered recently..  Rasuki is a beast!

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1290560824080909163 vs a Hisui&Kohaku player, awesome play from both sides, and the HisuKoha does some really unique Kohaku assist setups.

Kohaku / Re: Soooooooooooooooooooo, let's talk Kohaku.
« on: April 16, 2007, 06:49:42 PM »
The PishiWiki gives a pretty good explanation of what she's capable of: http://ikusat.mac.org/mbac/index.php/Kohaku

People don't normally play Kohaku solo, as she gains so much more when played as a team(awesome 214B Hisui assist as a blockstring ender, another overhead option with 214C).  However, Kohaku does gain a fairly formidable anti-air, which is shield(EX or regular, it doesn't matter, though if it's EX, you're better off doing 5A and then doing an aircombo), and then XX command throw.  The XX means you delay for a bit, as if you do the command throw too early after the shield, it'll come out before the opponent lands, making it whiff.  The other thing solo Kohaku gains is 214A/B, which were pretty useless pre-Ver.B, but have a fairly specific use now.  Basically, 214A/B now allows you to move in the air after you do it, so a practical application for this is when you have your opponent trapped in the corner with a plant setup, you do 214A/B, and after the move is over, you can do a basic high/low mixup by doing airdash j.B/j.C, landing and doing 2A, or doing an empty airdash into whatever.  The explosion from the move partially covers up Kohaku, making it difficult for your opponent to tell what you're gonna do.

I'd also like to add that 22B can also be used midscreen, or anywhere outside of corner, though it's not as strong obviously.  When not in corner, your opponent now has the option to safely get away by backdashing or jumping away, but you can definitely punish each option.  For backdashing, what you can do after setting up the plant is do 2A for the low hit, and if the opponent backdashes, quickly empty cancel 2A into 2C to tag them.  Dashing up and ground throwing also works against some character.  To take care of opponents that try to jump away, you can dash up and do 5B or airthrow them.

When ending a ground combo into 22C(like 2C 236C 22C) midscreen, it's pretty standard now to superjump over them with j.C, and after you land behind the opponent, you can do the standard high/low with 2A or instant j.C.  What I've also seen recently is walking towards the opponent and then doing Kohaku's dodge(2A+B/2Q), which crosses up the opponent, making them eat the cactus if they don't block the right way.

Fun times, lol, I don't think I've ever been hit by so many Nanaya arc drives in one sitting  :psyduck:

Note that the 2nd video is me using Akiha Vermillion(very badly), not regular Akiha.  Man, I messed up so many instant j.2C overheads(everytime you see me on oki jump straight up, that's me failing the input).  Also, for those of you wondering how the 3rd match ended, since the camera ran out of recording time, I did an accidental dashing 623C, it whiffs, MTP activates Arc Drive for the win.

Akiha Vermillion / Re: V Akiha Strategy Thread
« on: April 04, 2007, 05:02:42 PM »
Haha, the V. Akiha guide I wrote up linked in the previous post is kinda outdated now, though some of the strategies still work(all of the combos should still work too).  There's a lot of information that I didn't cover that the new school of thought Vermillion Akiha players are doing nowadays(like double OTG) since I can't even do most of that stuff myself.  I guess if I decide to pick up V. Akiha seriously again(unlikely) I'll update the guide.

Anyway, this wouldn't be complete without a half assed description of V. Akiha's playstyle.  Basically, learn to block well, as V. Akiha is in a world of pain everytime she gets hit.  Master the three different TKs(2367a, 2368a, 2369a) and when to use them; since it's V. Akiha, 2368A is probably gonna be the most frequently used one.  V. Akiha totally beasts in the corner, so learn all the different methods and combos to get your opponent into the corner as quickly as possible, like, using 623C in combos or doing the 5BB IAD j.BC turnaround combo to get your opponent BACK into the corner when the situation arises.  Master the 623B corner loop, as without it, her normal BNB damage is really pathetic.  Do tk j.22C at the end of every single 623B loop combo you land, and remember that V. Akiha's 22C lasts much longer than Akiha's, so you want to keep them on the flamepit for as long as possible instead of what regular Akiha usually does, doing a blockstring into flamepit ignition.  Learn V. Akiha's OTG finishers off her aircombo ending with j.C, do them when you have 22C set up, and learn the different methods to tech punish it.  In blockstrings, remember that V. Akiha's 5C is a frame faster and 2C is a frame slower than regular Akiha's, making 5C that much better in staggering strings and punishing people who try to jump out.  And finally, normals of interest; remember that j.C is her best jumpin, with crossup hitboxes, her 6C is an overhead and is dash cancellable on hit, and 2B is just good in general with its clash frames.
