Though rude, it is true most of our community congregates on IRC.  Your best bet otherwise is to goto a tournament to play people and get contact information for setting up private games otherwise.

NetPlay Community / Re: A Question about Matching Mode
« on: August 21, 2012, 07:42:10 PM »
So I finally figure out how to update my rev 1.2 to 1.4 and I decided to try the Matching Mode and used "connect matching server" but as I play always get interuppted by "new challenger" then the screen freezes and an error message pops up ErrorF0006-3000-0002-001F. Is that normal or is it just me?

If you get a new challenge into a disconnect it's just that it simply could not establish the connection.  Because you are trying to connect to Japan, you will almost always get this error.  I've tried to get 11-14 delay sometimes, but the people normally back out anyway.  Best connection I ever had to Japan was 8 delay, from East Coast NJ - normally it doesn't connect like you say.

Unfortunately no net code is really THAT good yet to produce playable games across oceans, and certainly not MB's.

So I'll be done with my work at ~1:30pm on Tuesday, August 28th, 2012.  From there I have until 10AM the next morning to get home, so I can be out all night!

If anyone wants to play Melty (or Mahjong, if you have a set and the people!) I will be in the area for that day only.  I'd rather not wander around myself all day, so if we can get a thing going that night it would be assume.  I have a place to stay for the night, so no need to host me overnight - just want to meet you guys and play some games.

Again, I WILL be at Summer Jam, and I won't have transport out of Toronto (I'm taking a bus up there).  So, I need to know soon (as in now) and unfortunately I won't be able to travel to nearby cities.

Dont worry guys i will find you guys extra spacer if you need it.

This is going to be a fun weekend.  Thanks for the support Eric, as always.

If we can't get a stream, we can at least save the Replays for Top 3 on Hal's computer and add commentary later.

If anybody has the equipment to stream it though, I'm all for it.

I'm being entirely serious now, when we've become an actual hindrance you have to ask yourself if its worth  at this point. No, I have no right telling people what to do but when you become the expendable part of a tournament it begs the question on continuing onward.

fuck you I'm playing melty blood

yeah like you did at the last st1ckbug tournament, right?

Right...?

st1ckbug wasn't at the last st1ckbug tournament

I will goto the tourney in NYC this weekend if I don't start work yet...it'd be nice to start Monday but since they know I won't be here the following weekend for SJ I might not get the luxury.

Hey guys, I'll be in Canada for job training on the 27th-29th.  I'll have free time to play on the 27th, 8pm~12am, and on the 28th, from about 4pm~12am.

I definitely want to see some of the cool shit in Toronto, play some sets with you guys, eat at an awesome place, and for those of you old enough hit up a bar on the 28th.

I could even cancel reservation on either night if someone is kind enough to give me a place to stay in the area.

Let me know guys!  I'm relying on you to show me a good place!  Contact me either on Twitter, IRC, or here.  We can iron out details in person at Summer Jam, just tell me if you're interested!

Teams should be 2v2 unless there's 40+ players and if it's 2v2, it should be Mi-Ka-Do format, just my two cents.

It's called Waseda format, and I do prefer it as well.  It guarantees that both players play.

Akiha's Tea Room / Komidol going to Japan!? Plane tickets cost money?!
« on: August 13, 2012, 12:12:32 AM »
I did it!   :toot:  I managed to land one of those native English teaching jobs in Japan, similar to some of our best community members in the past.  I'm sure you all remember how incredibly active I was in the melty-blood community when I studied abroad there last year, and I plan on doing the same again (perhaps with some Under Night In-Birth and Aquapazza mixed in as well)!  I'll save the long-goodbyes for either in person or another post, but right now I'm scheduled to be leaving the country on or around November 7th!

Unfortunately that only leaves me a few weeks to come up with my first month living expenses and plane ticket, so I'm selling everything I'm not taking with me.  I figured people on or around this community would be interested.  Remember by buying something, you're also doing me a big favor!  You can respond in this thread, personal message me bargaining offers, contact me on skype, or tweet me @Komidol to buy this stuff.

Here's what's up for grabs:

5.1 Speakers Surround Sound Computer Speakers - 40$

Star Ocean (PS1), Final Fantasy Chronicles (FFVI & Chrono Trigger, PS1), Quake III & Team Arena(PC), Xenogears (PS1), Legend of Mana(PS1), and a sealed copy of Legend of Dragoon(PS1)

As some of you who have been to my place may imagine, I have many more anime items that I'm less willing to part with.  Everything from Eroge to Figures to Manga to CDs.  If you know of anything I own you might want to buy, you can PM me privately about that.  As time goes on I will be re-posting the auction items to more communities, and eventually, Ebay & Craigslist.  I wanted to give you guys the first shot.  The price tags are very, very arbitrary.

At one point on the boards I also made an offer to do amateur translations for cheap.  That offer is still available, just PM me for a quote.  I am also offering elementary Japanese lessons for people who want to start learning Japanese, as well as creating study guides and syllabi so they can engage in self learning.  You can read more about that offer here

I'm even swallowing my pride and accepting donations.  I promise to do my best with Melty Blood in Japan and keeps you guys informed with as much about the game as possible, as I did in the past.  I will also be working on a complete video series about F-Kohaku, including everything from combos to spacing tools, once I get to my new home and get my computer setup.  If you're kind enough to help out, you can paypal me at KireiKotomine@gmail.com at your own will, just send it as a gift.  I want everyone who is interesting in helping out to know I am working two jobs right now to make this happen, so I wouldn't ask if I didn't absolutely need it.

And if anyone wants to take a vacation to Japan...you're good to stay with me.

Hey guys, considering Summer Jam is a week before God's Garden, I'm assuming a good handful of us won't be able to afford getting down there (especially me since I'll be starting a new job)

Does anyone local want to setup a little watching party?

aka: who has a place they can invite people over to watch for the night.

Yeah you should just make AP the main game, not P4U.  Just be the headquarters for AP games on the east coast and people will come.

Roku you shouldn't host a poll, then throw all the poll results because you don't think its real.  People have posted they want to play Aquapazza, and its in the results.  Also, if you are running bi-weeklies, I think rotating the games is a great idea.  Zaelar, once again in all his decades of fighting game brilliance, said run two games one week and two games another week.  If you can get the people for it, what's the problem?  P4U and AP can be the new games, and you can run MB and GG for the old games.

Bi-weeklies do not necessarily mean the same games.

What Friday did you want to start these?  I'm only going to come if its MBAACC/Aquapazza (meaning you or a Rokrew would need to bring a setup).

43
The Nefarious King is opening his drawbridge?  How could a Hero such as myself decline this challenge?

Fear my poverty rushdown, as you will soon find your gates in peril.

44
Lets go MB players the dustloop thread is going crazy.

I've been in contact with all our regulars players about if they plan on attending this event.  Everyone I talked to (easily 20+ people) plan on coming, and there is going to be some hype matches no doubt.  We should focus on drawing out more people though, I think this event could reach 36+ people if we all really tried.

45
as usual, i miss both SBO, god garden, and now even an UNIB test :|

There might be another one while you're there.  Exactly what days will you be there?  I can keep a look out for melty events for you.  Since you're in Tokyo though, better make sure you hit up Mikado every Friday night for tournament.

46
Always wanted to goto one of these, then I read the fine text stating that Tanto is banned.

I don't know now.   :bricks:

47
I'll goto this if I find steady work by then (I am planning on taking care of that before the end of this month).

100$ pot is extremely generous, I might add.

48
Brandino unfortunately can't go anymore :(

I wanted to go but I have school right before :[[[[[[
