Other Games / Re: Freaking PSN, how does it work?

So Sony took this to court.
I thought it was a bad joke, but apparently the hackers who caused this mess are rly from Anonymous: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/04/sonys-response-to-the-u-s-house-of-representatives/

And PSN still isnt up. -__-

Not really... The ones called "Anonymous" is not really known for this level of infiltration... they generally are know as mischief makers (and very much enjoy this title from what it seems, since it's there only real pattern) and tend to deface websites and the other rather minor things. This is an infiltration "smash and grab" attack, someone more or less got in... tripped a bunch of alarms to cause a panic, grabbed the DB and ran like hell.
As far as I have seen, and what Sony has said prior to the meeting, this is likely what happened. Personal Information and Credit Card numbers lay on the outside of the intentions of "Anonymous" whom are more concerned of making a public statement or example of a person/place/business.

That is not to say that "Anonymous" isn't involved, they did try to DDOS Sony a few weeks prior to the shutdown... so this might of happened in the mist of a bigger attack that caused the shutdown. But they are not the source of PSN users misery.

None. The stick is full console compatible so I can get my Melty and my next gen fix.
700 bones is going to be hard to come by.

Srsly? Good. I can't wait to just SIDESTEP shoryukens.
Idk if its me, but the pacing looks faster than SF4 to me...but that might be because of assists.
I also didn't see dizziness (yet) and im hoping i dont.
Might be buyable, we'll see.
Well, we'll see if that is the case. But even for me, that is the more interesting game, the Tekken characters would be fine... but for the Street Fighters, SNK this isn't. You are talking about a system that is complete alien for the conventions of SF as a whole, it's not just sidestepping fireballs (which has been done before in the EX series), it's the simple fact that Hadoken simply will not be QCF+P... for Tekken, that simply does not exist (as far as I understand Tekken, which is not much).

Which makes things interesting, since characters like Ryu, Ken, etc. would have to be overhauled completely for the Tekken system of combat.  I would like to see how that turns out...

Its SF4 with assists. :/
The second that Capcom's part in the Cross games was based on SF4, I saw that happening.
Quote
If it played like Tekken, with SF4 chars mixed in, id be happy. But sadly its the other way around...
That game is called Tekken X Street Fighter, expect it later next year or for 2013. You're in for a longer wait if that is the game you are waiting on.

Now for something familiar.

From the Bread Factory:
- UNIB development is going favourably. They've surpassed the most difficult parts, so the rest is apparently a downhill slope. (Though after recruiting dotters from the beginning, such is to be expected.)
[ :V - Apparently.]
Well that is a plus... Can we see another character soon.

Quote
- Regarding Comiket, French Bread doesn't plan on participating from now on. Please look forward to the Circle Melon Bread around next year. (Not that we checked, but Melon Bread probably exists already, so that's no good, is it? lol)
[ :V - ... ]
There is a time for everything, with the amount of pull they have with MB... the time to get official might be now. That said, They need a marketing team... or not, but it might help with the crowded field.

Quote
- French Bread is now taking questions, comments and offering life-counselling (lol) at the following e-mail address: lisarec+fb@gmail.com
[ :V - Was that seriously an OreImo joke?]
I would laugh to find out that that address was real.

Quote
- They should be able to hold their second livestream sometime next week.
[ :V - Assuming UST is referring to their Ustream and not that they plan to switch their clocks from JST to UST for some strange reason.]
Nice, nice... do they plan to show more of UNIB or not?

The cinematics have been good but the gameplay looks terrible. Its still early in development so maybe they can still put out something decent, I just won't be expecting much.
Of what I what of the game-play mechanics, I am not sure yet. That said, everything at this point is in flux... what was seen is still being developed. I highly doubt that they want this as an endpoint.

82
It just states that the location tests held at Club Sega, etc. ended on the 10th of March.

So anything seen from this? Video, more talk... anything?

83
My stick is finally done holy shit I'm hype to get it. Stick building and images courtesy of b15sdm.

Damn, question... how are the b15sdm sticks? No complains?

MBAACC had a hardware issue? :psyduck:

No, but FB has been playing games on what hardware it's going to be on. From my guess, there is nothing wrong with the Ringwide for UNIB... outside of less visual ram, in which case they could just move to RingEdge. Nothing that I have seen would suggest that they need to move to another board, and considering that programmers are creatures of habit... I doubt that FB would move away from something that they are comfortable with (assuming that they are).
And yet with all of that, FB has been tossing Tatio's TypeX^2 into the discussion for some apparent reason.

To me, I would doubt that they move away from Sega hardware unless Ecole did as a publisher. It would also make little marketing sense to have all these events in Sega-owned locations with it being produced on completing hardware.
That said, FB setting the record straight on that matter (again, like with carmine gender) would be nice to see.

85
No.

It just states that the location tests held at Club Sega, etc. ended on the 10th of March.
Hmmm, be nice to see what comes of that... particularly on the hardware issue.

86
Yeah, I' was kind of disappointed at the lack of stand commands shown.  She only had it do a pretty basic looking slash attack a couple of times.  With how she can cross through opponents with that rapier dash though, it makes me wonder if she will be able to do silly combo or block strings hitting the opponent back and forth between herself and the stand.
Well, I wasn't expecting much out of this preview. This is not like FB was releasing "assets" like Capcom did(and keeps doing) with Marvel 3, so to have many unknowns behind the veil is expected for them showing off one character.
That said, I am expecting something more of a development bubble with UNIB till Sept... this could be the only think that we hear about the game for a while.

The link he gave was the recorded stream archive.
If not that, it on the youtubz on this point.

Edit:
Okay so the new unib char looks like blue akiha with a rapier.  She might be in a nun outfit, kind of hard to tell.  Her attacks have the smallest range of anyone shown so far, but she has a crazy amount of movement in them, so she kind of flies around the screen with her specials.  Also, she has a jojo's-style stand she can summon out.  He looks fucking awesome like some kind of big ass knight with a huge sword.  It didn't really do much, but seems like you can enter commands to have it attack and whatnot.  It generally follows the girl around the screen.  It's attacks are appropriately huge to the rest of the cast's shit.

Still no sign of double jumps or air dashes, from what I could tell.
I am really liking that movement she has... the design itself isn't much, but I can't say much with the fuzzycam. I get the sense that she might be more complex than she seems with the "stand" work. I am kind of disappointed with the "stand" itself, was kind of hoping for more animation when idle, but he seems to be stiff and float around as it follows the girl.

Still looking at Hyde as "the character" for me.... something about dem pokes.
That said, anything mentioned about the Seed system? :prinny:

88
Pretty much, yeah. The good thing is, it eliminates the cost of manufacturing and shipping when it comes to getting your games in arcades. Of course, on the other hand, if your game is only available on Nesica, you're limited to the coverage that service allows.
It is another downside, in that before Nesica or ALL... 100 yen in the cab was 100 yen pre play. That is not longer the case, both Sega (with ALL.net) and Taito (with Nesicalive) will have a percentage of every coin in the cab. It makes the risk factors higher for developers since, simple put, games really can't afford to flop in such a market. Sega and Taito would have something to say about a failure directly.

Like I said in the other topic, given FB's history of "jokes" and "rumors" that turn out to be made real (Narita = Tatari? :laffo: ), I wouldn't dismiss such statements as mere jest.
For now, for what it seems... bluff seems accurate. A number of things with UNIB's announcement doesn't single a change in development platform... the biggest being that it was announced at a Sega event. But that could mean little... again questions that only September can answer.

Quote
After all, while the market for X2 is indeed a crowded one, it's also the hardware that's got guaranteed installation at most arcades, which is surely something that is relevant to FB's interests. I mean, what else is making a case for operated to have a few Ring Edges, beyond "Border Break" that's already been in arcades?
That is based on the assumption that Taito is the market, arcade wise, and that is BAD...VERY BAD. Taito would more or less be able to hold the industry hostage, since it holds all the users. At that point, the arcade's twilight to death will be in full swing.... and Taito will not stop it with that kind of holding power.
I would like the Japan game industry to avoid something like that.... since it would cause a nasty shrink in development. Plus, Sega is large, it would be hard to have them ignored on the market completely.
That said, you do know that Melty Blood on the Ringwide isn't really pushing the system. I would not be all that shocked if UNIB was released on the same (as it turns out, the Ringwide has the same resolution to RingEdge... the two big differences in the systems are that Edge has dual-core cpu and much more VRAM) hardware as Control Code, simply due to familiarity... and both are tied to ALL.net for distribution...  but again, things that the JAMMA showcase will answer.

So, we'll see, most definitely.

Fun times, this gen.... fun times.

Hell, I would love to see the indie/doujin scene do more to get some love. Of course, I don't really see such a thing happening until the Japanese side of the equation either a) gets in on the Steam bandwagon or b) develops their own answer to such. Among the main things that's holding the industry back, especially on the indy-level, it's still the usual publisher-developer relationship. The sooner that much is undermined and circumvented, the better everything else will be, I believe.
Which is why Nascaxlive and ALL.net are rather interesting.... that is point B right there... The question is, will they gain traction? Nascaxlive seems likely, but the fact that it's on the TypeX^2 could be a problem. It's not a low-end system by any stretch of the imagination.

The publisher model needed to change of a long time. I will not say that they need to be completely out of the question, but at this point... distribution needs to be simpler. Publishers will either help with that (and marketing) or be in the way... Publishers need to understand that they have to get product to market quicker, in the most unobtrusive manner possible or be render completely irrelevant by the consumer and the developer... since it's a matter of resources that they give developers to get to consumers.

True yes. After all, if FB's game can't succeed at home, it wouldn't be much good any where else, now wouldn't it?  :bleh:
The sad truth really... Japan companies will concern itself with the consumer needs of japan.

Quote
On the other hand, if I'm interpreting that newest post on FB's blog is right, UNIB game may be on Taito's NESiCA system this time. In which case, it won't have any need for the "Bananapass", but it's still just as bad for those who were hoping to import the arcade unit. Sign of the (end?) times for the arcade industry, in my opinion, but it at least makes it so that smaller devs like FB don't waste money on PCBs that would just sit.

I'll be honest, I think that it's a bluff.... Ecole more or less publicised on Sega hardware for the most part, and on it... they get a market to themselves. Now this may not be a good thing, but considering that Taito's X^2 is crowded a space (in general), that is a something to keep an eye on. If anything, I would take it as an appeal for Ringedge hardware (despite that the hardware isn't much of a jump from Ringwide)... for whatever purpose that serves.
Unless FB is riffing.

On the more speculative note. I have been having this feeling that the gaming market is going to expand globally, development wise... but from an unlikely place. The indie/doujin developer. If anything, it's the one side of the market now that you will continue to see new IP out of... and that in itself will signs of health for gaming. It's something that I have noticed on the portable side of things, with the market shaking over iPhone/Android taking over and distrupting the space. The reason is in part due to the FLOOD of the indie developer to get noticed. Sega, if they play their cards right,  themselves in this growth for arcades... since you get the feeling that the (save for a few) the old names don't hold much traction any more. And gamers (outside the hardcore) want new.... the trick it's how to visual attract than impress (in other words, graphics... don't hold on the technical matter, as they do on uniqueness). But we'll see with this new gen coming.

i remember reading about Namco’s new card system called Banapass, and maybe it will afect both aquaplaza and unib
http://www.versuscity.net/2011/02/21/banapass-card/
Quote
It will support Sega titles
Quote
The downside to all of this is that any game that supports this system will most likely be either gimped when it’s released internationally — because I don’t see Namco being able to maintain this system worldwide — or simply won’t get a release.

Maybe, maybe not... proof comes in September.
That said, I would assume that Namco would have added this to titles that would be of interest to them. That and Ring-series (the only hardware series that would matter with ALL.net) seems lefts out of that for reasons unknown (unless banapass is for truly custom hardware)

Well, I dunno who tossed it up between the likes of here and other BBS I've been to or whatever, but they're right on this much: if FB really wants their game to have a chance of beating that "hateful Blazblue", the best chance at doing that is to think globally, and actually contest ASW on the same "stage".

I would think that myself, but the fact that the game itself will be arcade first speaks volumes. Especially in the NA market where apparently, the old arcade is "so 90's" and for most gamers the internet is the new arcade... at least here. ASW has been doing the same thing, so I can't say that it's too damaging... but, for NA players, that draw back is a concern.
Given that, I would think that FB will concern themselves with the Japanese market first before even attempting going global. It also speaks to Sega Amusement roadmap with ALL.net and the Ring-series

I think the other thing worthy to consider would be if French Bread themselves would be up to it.
Yes and no.... the thing is that T-M at this point would and could shop around with developers and publishers. There is nothing said that it has to be Ecole/French-Bread, but they already have a dialogue with the companies over MB. It would simplify matters if they continued with that dialogue over a new project.

Quote
After all, the majority of their attention for the foreseeable future will obviously be focused on their new baby, Under Night. Depending on how people are receptive to Unreal Black Things? It could easily be a matter where, eventually, FB may not see the need to continue working with Type Moon in the "tight-like-glue" way they used to in the last decade. T-M has long since gone commercial, and now it looks like FB is poised to make a serious dive for themselves in the same arena.

Yeah, I see something like that happening myself. However, that is just one thing in the realm of possibilities with UNIB's future, in the near team... FB does need to branch out, UNIB accomplishes that. How successful this is will be a matter of debate.

There's already enough F/SN fighters out there.  I say keep Melty to just the Tsuki cast (Ryougi exception) and original characters.
As much as I would agree with you... I can't. For one highly selfish reason, I want a fighter like that in North America. Of the things that T-M owns that has some pull in NA, Fate/Stay Night is it... KnK and Tsuki are close but when you want near the mainstream, your looking at FSN with it's larger niche crowd on both sides of the pacific.
Any hope of a localization would likely use that as a factor.
That said, another name would be a good thing.... making a MB3 as the "All Around Type Moon fighter" would be confusing on the marketing end of things. With Fate/Zero and All Around Type Moon animations coming down the pipe.

I don't know, it seems rather bland to me.
We'll see how it shapes up. But call me unimpressed, currently.

actually, maybe i wouldnt mind melty becoming more an All Around Type Moon fighter soo much. maybe.

That would really depend on how receptive T-M is to that idea. Can't really tell if they are or not, but at least a us port would be likely (Fate Stay night alone would warrant it). That said.... if something like that did happen I would not like to see them power-level debates. That would set a flaming of the ages that I would need to watch from a good distance.

If there is one thing that really plugs me out of the game, it's the online.
It's not really the game itself at fault as it is the Wii's outright horrendous net backbone. Even with Capcom hosting their own system... it can get bad with lag.

Tatsunoko = MVC3 > MVC > MVC2
At first it was, and now... the end product, it's really not. They share a few things between them, but that is few and far in-between.

All about Hurricane Polymar.
Wow he is scary, with the open-air grabbing... the possibilities a truly endless, and this is the mix-up guy.

Akiha's Tea Room / Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

The Tatsunoko characters are also unbelievably awesome.
The game itself is rather fun and fairly balanced, the fact that the Marvel fanbase seems to want to kill it is a shame.

So the big question is, what else do we expect from this game at this point?
