I'd like to attend singles (today) since I live kinda closeby, but I'd have to crash at someone's place tonight if I wanted to see the whole tourney through. Maybe I'll just gather for some matches during the day and see what happens...  :psyduck:

Ciel is a terrible matchup. I'd say she's on par with if not worse than Kohaku. A Nero without beasts is pretty lame; you're going to have to nerf yourself and cancel all of your moves unless you want to eat ex-halo and dash-ins.

Also, this is a terrible thread. You fail at pressuring if you're getting zoned so bad that pets are giving you that much trouble. Especially if you use Ciel, because she can dash in and poke (or ex halo of course lolol) from across the screen before he can even recover from releasing one beast or do anything other than 5a. Literally.

But if you REALLY need help against B-tier Nero:
deers: throw, poke or block, pick wisely (if you're locked down by it, which you really shouldn't be). A ver: block, dash under (Ciel LOL)
crows: A ver: dash under (Ciel LOL), block, B ver: you are going to lose if the Nero can use b crow that effectively. EX: throw, poke or block (depending on distance to Nero and your specific char) assuming its an oki setup.
snake: A ver: block or throw (if hes walking closing in on the throw). B ver: dash through (Ciel LOL), block, jump over. Ex: laugh and pick your choice of ex shield or dodge.

Sound like a load of bullshit? Then you're not familiar enough with his summons and are pissing your pants thinking "OMG THER TOO CHEEP (hold 4 for maximum safety)" while he goes in for the throw.

But this can all be prevented by doing pressure. You really have no idea how pitiful Nero in a corner is. And if you knew how godawful his priority is, you'd realize its pretty easy to get him there. It's truly a sad sight (FG and instant jC overhead setups come to mind). Hence, shielding being particularly useful to Nero, which some of us have taken advantage of...

And 4c? You're not blocking on the ground enough if you get hit by the first hit. Neros typically throw it out at a certain distance (to catch scrubby players at a safe distance). Stop being so impatient thinking you can close in at Mantis Arm range. In the air? Well, it doesn't really matter what you do, because pretty much every single other move in the game will go through it. Your choice on how to punish 4c-spamming players. Also, some moves can be executed after a block (214b comes to mind).

I like that Osama guy. (Yah thats right, I don't know his name)
Also due to the fact that having Clinton run the country seems like it would end up in desaster.

Plus, all that stuff they tried to pound in my brain that "YOUR VOTE COUNTS!" seems like a bit of a lie
If he/she loses by one vote, I will lol
Well the only lie i can see is the cake and hilary and barak Obama-muslim
votes dont matter as previously explained in my writ 3 posts ago
so no one vote because it dosent matter unless there is one vote to make the sides change and the electorians vote differently
with electronic voting it probably takes 2 minutes max to add up all the votes in he country so i dont see why that dosent happen.
Too bad Mexicans don't think like you. Their vote comprised of 30% of the CA vote, turning the tide, giving Hilary the victory.  If only they thought "my vote doesn't matter," Obama would have won, probably turning the tide for the entire primary election, and possibly the general election.  I don't really mind either candidate, though.

Electoral college is an archaic and terrible system IMO, but then again I'm not a political science major.

Hmm... something interesting I just found

Chibi Melty Blood Figures ^_^
I don't know if this is old or not, but there freeken sweet!
When TM-Collection hunting, we saw those displayed and couldn't resist. I only bought one hoping for Len, and got it luckily. It sits on my external HDD, which is appropriately named Len. No, I'm not obsessed with her. ...

There's one "mystery" one not displayed there, which turned out to be Warc.

No.

Except when it's game mechanics like Ciel dashing through every black beast and ex-hieroing/dashing under/clashing -insert any move except 5a here-. Then I just laugh and try to find entertainment value out of it.  :toot:

Or losing to Nanaya. Because he's a gigantic faggot. aaaaaaaaaaaa

If I lost to scrubby players every day I'd probably kill myself, though. But that's why you practice, right? You don't lose to players that are worse than you. If you're losing all the time, you probably suck. Unless you're LK. Poor guy dies in 2 bnbs.

- combo breaker -

Hello,

I've been lurking these forums on and off for over a year. That said, I've been playing MB since MBR, where I initially mained Tohno like many others. I'm finishing up studies @ UCLA this quarter and live in downtown LA (SoCal). I'd love to see a bigger scene in either of these two areas, but looking at the MB scene, I'm probably being too picky.

I go by K1 in #SRM. lol SRM.

I main Nero, and you probably hate me already. I hate playing Ciel for obvious reasons, as well as 2aaaaaaaaaaaa 5aaaaaaaaaa jaaaaaaaaaaaa 214b Nanayas. I don't mind getting destroyed by Sion, so if you completely lay waste to me with her, the more power to you.

My favorite move is Mantis arm. Okay, not really. It's really Len's AAD. 1/3 of the time.

Damn it, why is there no Len figure?

Not satisfied with the Sega UFO catcher one? personally I think it tooks pretty decent for $15.

I only saw Sion and Ciel in the UFO catcher at Club Sega...I guess I went two months too early. Perhaps I'll pick it up, but I was never really satisfied with the quality of any of the UFO catcher ones. Thanks for the info...how could I not know about a Len figure... :slowpoke:

A few of my friends went out and bought a box of the Type-Moon Collection and exchanged for the ones we wanted a while back. They're pretty hard to find. You can buy like the whole collection at some places (already opened).

Our goal was pretty much to get Aoko, but instead we got like 3 Rins a few Shikis, and some others...

I saw an Aoko (already opened) for really cheap at a hobby store in Japan and picked that one up. I have Ciel, Aoko, Shiki, Saber, and Rin. I think the Ciel is the most impressive one. Plus we got them for like $7 each, which is pretty cheap...relatively. They're well made for the price. The higher end 1/8 Alter figs are like $50+, so it's a pretty big difference in price. Still, I want to get the Alter Arc someday...

Damn it, why is there no Len figure?

I have the same problem as you. The thing is, my friends don't really care about MBAC so much. They just like to download like 1000 doujin games from hongfire and mash in all of them. It's impossible to teach someone if they aren't going to try to practice on their own, like take hour+ chunks of time in dat training mode. I hope your friends actually care enough about the game, otherwise you're wasting your time.

To get to a playable level, I think they should do a few things (tl;dr, read previous posts):
1. Watch videos of good players of the character they're learning. If they have any interest in the character, they might try to learn some of the mixups/setups and become more familiar w/ the playstyle. Even coming across videos I think "wow I didn't know ____ was possible against ____" ---> proceed to practice mode. I'm terrible, I know.
2. Practice BnBs to a perfect level in practice mode. Then switch to vs./arcade mode and see if they can execute the bnb at 90+% capacity against the less predictable CPU. They might also learn a thing or two about hitboxes and frame data. BnBs are the meat of anyone's game. It often comes down to one poke that leads to 3k dmg...etc. Without understanding this, they'll never be a challenge. They'll leave too many opportunities not fully punished.
3. Netplay/play you. The person they're challenging shouldn't be like...pro level, because that wont give them much opportunity to do anything, except get some blocking/bunkering exp, which is still useful. However, there are many people on netplay that I can think of who will be worthwhile playing. If not, you can always play them with the goal of getting them better. After they get good, I think they'll become more interested in the game. Playing at a scrubby level firing off ADs the instant you hit heat is fun and flashy in the beginning, but gets old after a while, and especially when your opponent can easily evade it and punish you without even trying.

Nero Chaos (Nrvnqsr) / Re: Faceing that got damn Blue Bitch...Ciel
« on: January 22, 2008, 07:48:35 AM »
Ciel is definitely the gayest character to fight when you use Nero. No beasts can be safely used during blockstrings or really at all.

1. What you're essentially going to have to do is keep all of your attacks and blockstrings short (cancel/5a whiff cancel). She can hiero most whiffs or just dash through/under them.

2. Don't ground tech. Obviously (hiero).

3. Only use beasts for Oki setups (crows or deer). Everything else is punishable by Hiero or downright useless. They're only going to get you screwed. A-snake is the best move against her probably, but it's extremely slow for startup and easily punishable by hiero.

4. ...yeah...good luck.

In Japan, no matter where I played after a 4c I was punished with Nanaya's 214b and Arc's Arc Drive. 100% of the time.

4c is complete and utter shit. All air moves (with decent priority) go through it like butter and against good players everyone just shields right through it.
