Bleh, it's too bad travel would be a bitch, cause I have relatives in Portland that I'd like to visit in addition to going to this tournament... Hmm I could probably even stay with them if I did go. I'll see what I can do.

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: Stick or pad (or keyboard? o.O)?

Hey guys, I've been looking for a stable but inexpensive stick to last me a PS2 converter.

I've been looking for the Hori Fighting stick 2s without any luck, and the CD Japan FightStick for PS3 doesn't look to be PS2 compatible.

If you can find me something online for <50$ or around that price range, I'd really appreciate it. PS2 pad... used it in the past, never again. However, I can't get a Real Arcade Pro or the Fight Stick Pro (> 90$)

I was in your same situation when I got my stick. I paid attention to eBay for 1.5 weeks or so until I managed to score a Tekken 5 collectors edition set in new condition (including game) for $40+$10 shipping. I need to sell the game still, I'm going to sell the game to my friend for $10 next time I see him.

Pros of the stick: Pretty solid, large (i prefer it that way), heavy enough to not move around.
Cons: Not easy to mod/replace parts if anything goes wrong. Buttons are hori ones of medium quality. As long as you don't abuse it, they *should* last a long time though.

If FFA gets this, I'll definitely head out there.
Seconded. I'll be there decently often if FFA gets it, even though it's an annoying drive.

On another note, who's with me on Neco Arc Roa as an unlockable character! (I'm being totally serious about that BTW. think about how awesome it would be  :toot:)

The entire arcade at my local community college is screwed up horribly. I don't think there is a single machine in there that functions fully. At least 40% of them are completely out of order. Most of the others have broken controls/buttons, or their screens are messed up. For example, the 3s cabinet's player 1 joystick doesn't allow you to jump. :psyduck: :emo: Also, at my local Golf'n'Stuff (mini-golf place) arcade, many of the machines have issues, but at least they care a bit more about their basic functionality than Ventura College does.
I wish those responsible for the VC arcade wouldn't just ignore the players who ask for cheap fixes like replacing a joystick or a button here and there.
After going to Japan and playing in arcades there, nothing in America even comes close to comparing to the quality of their arcades. All of the buttons there wroked fine for me, and I never saw a single "out of order" machine :D  :toot:.

On that note, how does patching work, on an arcade cabinet? I know that Ecole sent out a free Ver. B board to everyone who owned a Ver. A one, but what about the little tweaks and stuff?
Not true, they charged a ton for the upgrade from Ver.A to Ver.B, it was the Ver.B -> Ver.B2 upgrade that was free for owners of Ver.B.

Yo Carl, it's good to see you here :D. I'll look forward to playing you at WT8 ^_^

Anyone south of Ventura going that I might be able to ride share with? Anyone from Semi Valley, LA, or further south will all by driving by me on the 101 freeway (I'm like a 2.5 mile detour I think). I'll have to talk to Desu7x but if he is available I think he might be interested as well.

It works fine for me and is compatible with Tropsy's client and ver1.03a.
I love its waiting room feature  ;D  :toot:
You can set your nickname in its config and that will appear in the waiting room and will show up to other users of Waryas's client when you connect to them.

kohaku's arc is unblockable WTF!!! can anyone do something about this.
I just jump over it. You have plenty of time to do so.

I'm 100% sure that my laptop was switched over to one of the two desktops before the tourney started. There were NO laptops used during the tourney. Why do you think there was one? Arly should know which two desktops they were, or I'd be able to identify them but I'm not driving down to Semi Valley just for that :<

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: Two Letter Character Notation
« on: October 15, 2007, 11:00:29 PM »
I'm fine with typing out full names in most cases. We already have a shortened set of names, they just aren't 2 letters.
Some examples: v.akiha, arc, wlen, hisukoha, etc.
I don't really support this 2-letter idea as we are trying to attract new players to the US scene and this will only make it harder on them.

Sorry, playing WoW.
I'm glad I quit that game. 2 years of that grindfest of a game took away my FPS/fighter/RTS skills.  It took me months to get them back, and I think my FPS skill still aren't where they were before I started. Quit ASAP if you are actually serious about playing it. If you don't want to, think about what percentage of time you are playing you are actually having fun vs how much time you are standing around bored/grinding.

Those sticks look amazing  :o.
Once I get around to getting a job and deal with some other stuff I need to buy (like my desktop's power supply, which decided to die on me a couple days ago  :'(), I'll most likely want one. Don't count on that being soon though (although there is a possibility it could be).
(I don't think I used enough parenthesis in this post, so here are some more ()). :toot:

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: How to win at clash frames
« on: October 11, 2007, 10:18:28 PM »
Also to add, if you're out of good normals to use (no clash frames, slow, whatever), and you have no meter to EX, and for some reason there are absolutely no other options available then you could try and cancel to a shield bunker to try and save yourself.   Of course this assumes you're on the ground and not in an air to air battle.
This info should be taken with a grain of salt in a patched PC ver.B because they added a circuit cost to shield bunkers.

I've had it happen multiple times with both versions - that's why I made a backup copy of cfg.cfg after I unlocked everything.

Try a reinstall of the game after running a scandisk and stuff.

273
I would go if I had the time+resources to do so, but it doesn't look possible. I have other trips and payments that I need to save my cash for.

This was the most fun West Toast for me thus far. I surprised myself with my results, as the last two Toasts I went two were 2 and out for me. GG's to all I played against!

@My tourney opponents:

Devereaux
I still feel bad for your attempted blood heat when you were nowhere near me causing a circuit spark instead. I think it happened because they need that code in the game to allow baiting, but that wasn't the circumstance =/. Good job putting me in my place in casuals afterward - I'll look forward to some rematches at the next Toast.

Jux
Ouch. I really need to learn how to deal with HisuKoha better - I was utterly owned. GG's anyway :)

Mizuki
Fun matches. You really should work on shielding those ex-pilers though - they just aren't good for your health, if you know what I mean  ;) Also, thanks for running the brackets.

Tsubasa
Your Hisui is solid, keep up the good work. I look forward to a rematch at the next West Toast if you are coming.

Akiha-sama, you are much better off learning how to use irc and joining one of the main IRC MB matchup channels like #SRK or #MBAC. Forums are too slow for matching up IMO, plus some people are paranoid about their IPs  :psyduck:
I normally use #MBAC on Efnet.
