Thanks to Bluelink, the promo ticket I was looking for found me so now I can say I'm confirmed for this year's Final Round as well.

This time I'd like to split a room with other Melty players so we can have the Melty equivalent of last year's Persona room. Hopefully we can play our eyeballs out and have fun poverty style without making too much noise and getting almost kicked out. Preferably we should get a room in the executive floor so we can eat breakfast for free and have nicer things, but I'm down otherwise too. I want to play you guys again!

I'd check out Monday btw, anyone that's cool with that get at me.

MELTAAAYYYYY

I'd just like to thank MadSci in the name of all the ones that took part in our Brazil vs Argentina 7on7 exhibition that happened last Sunday. This wouldnt be possible without madcaster.

Well, my results came out a little fuzzy. I've tried using this test and took some pictures and video, which can be seen in the attachments and link below:
http://www.mediafire.com/watch/e1rj7n3amznc1fl/20140101_081334.mp4

My monitor is a Samsung S23B550 so take into account it should have something like 11ms of input lag by itself, or maybe more. From looking at the pictures and video the awkward conclusion is that the monitor varies from 0 to 30ms delay compared to the laptop display. The fact that sometimes but not always the monitor is actually on par with the laptop display puzzles me but hey, technology right? That translates to about 0 to 2 frames behind which is pretty acceptable imo.

Also I've tried to practice some C-Kouma sweep loops while switching my focus and I did not feel anything wrong, but that proves absolutely nothing.

Btw, I was wrong about the VGA converter adding 6ms, the number was actually 35ms.

Yup, also just remembered that El Gato accepts HDMI too. I have a LGP and I can test delay if you guys want.

When you mean adapter, do you mean just a cable with a VGA end and a composite/RGB component end? If that is the case, do you know of a capture device that accepts "component" as RGB input?

I know a lot of TVs and whatnot actually receive component input as YPbPr, and I guess capture devices may run into this problem as well.
I mean something like this: http://pctvcables.com/vga-to-rca-composite-pc-to-tv-converter.html
Most of the cables dont have great compatibility or are not intended for a broader use.

I think you're right, when I said RGB I actually was refering to YPbPr. Can't really say much about that, but if you ask me the best option is the LGP (assuming you'll always have at least one setup with HDMI output).

- Avermedia Live Gamer Portable using HDMI. If you're playing on a laptop you just need to duplicate the display, otherwise with a monitor you get the card's HDMI output to the monitor. Can't really tell you if it adds delay or not, never measured it.
- Using another console intended capture card with composite video input: get a VGA>composite adapter and a p2>RCA cable for the sound, and maybe a VGA splitter. May add about 6ms 35ms video delay depending on hardware. Same may be possible with RGB.
- Using PC's internal capture card: another option but can't tell you anything about it, never seen one done in front of me.

These might help you understand the process:

Irrelevant opinions and all, the game seems very much alive to me, but in a more casual capacity. People play it for fun all the time, even in tournaments, but the competitive drive isnt quite there anymore. That doesnt work for everyone, but in the end it's whatever since I don't see any true interest in actively changing that. Waiting for a new game is easier in the end.

33
I'd really like to go but so far the trip is gonna cost more than what I'd consciously let loose from my wallet without taking heavy mental damage, specially since I dont have any income right now. Waiting for a promo.

Last year was really fun and I'd compete in more games this time, so I can expect it to be at least twice as much.

I was going to post a video for critique but I realized I've figured out a lot about this character since the video was made. Would anybody be interested in a basic video tutorial for H-warc, the only one that combos teleports and mystic eyes? I might make one depending on interest, no promises yet tho

Ever since I've seen Mat Coma playing Crescent and taking a tournament in MBAA I've been curious about the character, and last month I finally gave him a chance. His pressure is a lot trickier to pull off than I thought and he suffers a little on neutral, but overall he is a very good character, consistant damage off any confirms on the ground.

I feel one of the reasons he was left so unexplored is because of how easy it is to play F, and also because he is the most distant of his pre-moons system's self. Didn't play much with his loop b/c it had character specific timmings and I usually don't like touching that stuff. Anyways, this is something I thought would be interesting to share:

Wow, Shinsobeam still exists! And he is tierwhoring now

Good to know there are players over there, the videos look good as always. Aside from one of the F-Ries being weirdly focused on building meter for AD I can't call you guys out on anything seeing as I dont play any of these characters. Anyway, cool stuff.

You gotta know which mixups allow you to hit meaty and which dont. On that note, ppl should go for 2B when trying for same side low but 2A when going for crossup, because it is faster.

42
Ok, so... flying in combos leaves you too high to go for oki. You get to do stuff like meaty j.6[B}, j.236, j.214b or airdash j.CB while falling, but these are rather escapable. So what Ive seen some players do is cut the combos short not going into fly, and then dash 2a on oki.

How do you guys feel about that? Do you think its worth doing the fly  portion of the combo? Or doing EX pillar to play tech/no tech but get oki? Do you rather save meter for wallbounce kick or AD ender? Gimme your thoughts on this.

I usually always go for fly combos then immediatly 236a on landing to try to keep them honest but that has its faults too.

43
Haven't seen this specific variation here so I'll post it. Compared to the other BNBs it's fairly easy, stable and does decent damage:

2A 5B 2B 5C 2C 236A j.6B (slight delay) B(1) C sdj (slight delay) j.B(1)C fly j.AC AT - 4423 on VSion

I like the windmines for the swag tho

I've missed you Fateful Showdown ;_;

It's pretty straighforward: 623B ... B, 228

You wanna jump cancel the split second AFTER the flip hits, but you can't rush the inputs otherwise it won't come out. You can try doing it really late to get the hang of it and then doing it sooner and sooner until it stops working, maybe it will help understand the timing.

What they said at that time is that once Miyako touches you it's over cuz she is strong. I couldnt get anything else since the mic volume is too low compared to the game, but it didnt seem they were going into an explanation of combo mechanics.

Do you have any other footage where that combo is completed?

He might find easier to understand and execute pressure with F since it's pretty straightforward, and optimal use of reverse beat takes time and practice. As far as combos are concerned, that video covers pretty much all she needs, since her main goal in this game is to get the other guy to the corner and abuse him there, and she has the tools to do it.

I don't think she is the best entry character since she requires good spacing and hit confirming, but if he already decided and likes the character I'm sure he'll make it work.
