214C never really adds damage. I don't really see why JP keeps using it other than for flashiness. What about ending with 236C instead? 236C has better prorate than 214C

Nobody is dumb enough to tech a 236C ender anymore, sadly.

(PS2) If you're at a (good) range where the final rekka launch won't hit, then the 3C into 22A doesn't string against most of the cast anyway. You have to 214C.
Then there's ranges where even a 2B wouldn't hit- definitely need to 214C there too.

I fucking hate 214C. Prorates so hard you may as well do a ground string and get dat sandoori.

Any way for F-Ryougi to gain damage through meter now?

Currently 5B 2B 5C 236BB236B 2B 5C JB JC jc JB JC 236B
and 5B 2B 5C 236BB236B 2B 5C 214C 2B 5C JB JC jc JB JC 236B
do exactly the same damage.

As well as 5B 2B 5C 3C 22A 2B 5C JB JC jc JB JC 236B
and 5B 2B 5C 3C 22A 2B 5C 214C 2B 5C JB JC jc JB JC 236B do exactly the same damage.

Anything to do with meter except sit in MAX and end with 236AA214A x Arc Drive auto-lines? Not that it isn't silly and awesome.

Melty gets crazy when you go for ideal. Crescent kohaku, for example, makes f/uc 100% combo BS look easy mode.
Then there's weird shit, like h-ciel only pressing the C button once in a blue moon as you BE4B juggle wall to wall.
The 'generous' frame buffer just makes it harder in the end because it turns those early queues into too late, whiff.

Damn, well that's probably for the best. Time to play a real character  :emo:

Well if you can't make C-Sion's air normals work for you, then you're probably screwed because there aren't any better ones.

There's always blocking and being pushed down into the most hardcore bullshit DP, too.

Sounds like you want people to do paperwork after every match.

Rate the last opponents offense/blah blah/defense:
[ ] - omg i hav thes chars 4 mugen! XD
[ ] - gg

I feel like I really covered all the bases here with what someone playing the game might say.
So yeah, IRC is fancy.

Under-hyped Afterbirth

I'm guessing they're gonna go for PSP port only and make us all cry little baby tears.

62
As this is a delicate question I think people will take longer to answer..

I personally would feel safer with your netplay which I know is good... Trusting is good and I want to belive them too, but IDK... People already said they don't trust the coming netplay for the expected needs...

I don't even care anymore. I just want to play some melty. Plenty of time to see how the official netplay turns out.
I'll grind out training mode in ECSTASY for months if their netplay doesn't turn out well. Not like we don't have it in us lug laptops around again, either.

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: How do you do "super double jump" or "sdj"?
« on: September 17, 2010, 10:23:17 PM »
Super double jump offers greater jump height and velocity than a regular double jump forward. IIRC, sdj is limited to forward.
In MBAC, I think it was a Shiki exclusive ability (eg Tohno and Nanaya) but in MBAA I believe they made it a universal mechanic?

You input by either tapping 9 (forward double jump) for under 8 frames, or you can input it by entering 29 while in midair.

Shiki, Arcueid, Mech Hisui, and Kouma (for some reason unknown to everyone) could do it.

Slap your friend whenever he starts to combo you. Failing that, at least shit-talk him into the ground so he plays like ass.
That'll seal half of the deal for you right there.

Thana, sounds like you need some hard trainning.

Using nothing but the ken flowchart(I am serious) with an alt worked well for me. I think i'm doing just fine, thanks.
Oddly I have never played as ken. Not even once.

If by rocking my face off you mean dropping every one of your inputs possible. I took money home you took home crying about v.sion. Scrub. You didnt even make top 8.

No need to get offended, just playing around.
Dropped nothing, ended rounds with ~290% meter without you paying enough attention to stop it, perfect, etc.
Also, welcome to tripling the roster with moon styles and the rock-wall counters that result. I am a scrub automatically by definition for playing a character with hard counters, and that's fine.
Congratulations for being smart enough to play a character that doesn't have to deal with that BS from the start.

You're a great player, but so are other people. Melty just bugs me whenever I play it, and i'm sorry for bothering you with my bullshit. Peace.
It's great fun, and I enjoy playing really good opponents even if the game itself isn't my favorite. Let's me play solid and flawless instead of having to match my gameplay to lower levels.
I'm confident I could have matched heartnana as well, but that didn't happen. Oh well.

Obviously the guys with the double h-vsion team were the smartest guys there.
My hat goes off to you for thinking of that, everyone else just assumed the same character stacked on a team would be disallowed.  :emo:
u mad
No. I was being serious. That was a very smart thing to do.

-Thanks to Many other people like MagnusXL, Random Aoko player that I had the most intense match of my life. (He beat sp00ky in the winners bracket of singles) Yeh I don’t remember other peoples names. For making it as fun as it was :P
np, had fun beating on different people besides magnus "strong strong strong" xl and Team "j-ball" purple in melty for once. WI so ronery.

70
Want an example? Here's one that I couldn't understand why people would do brackets in the first place. First day @ NEC, 3s teams was under way- about an hour passed and right in the middle of the tournament, the organizer called up 2 teams. Ironic part was, due to bad organizing and bracketeering, one team from the winners had to play one team from the losers brackets without an explanation. One of the members of the winner's teams asked me if it's possible for an organizer to do that. I explained to him that there's no way how unless you get bumped TO the losers to play IN the losers bracket. Until then, I was convinced that whoever made those brackets had either a gut feeling they did something wrong, but didn't want to fix it to prevent other bumps along the way. And, there were bumps, to put it short. The result? Justin's team loses in the finals vs. Team Virginia via OVC and people were cheering for joy. How fast did they do it? IN FIVE HOURS FLAT. It took too long to set up everything, and the same organizers didn't have the time to even finish up best 8 for 3S singles until Sunday afternoon.

That is some enormous bullshit.

Now that BB has come along and gotten people a little more used to anime fighters with a visual novel style story mode, it'd be nice if they made a feature matching MB game for the next MB:

- PS3/360
- Hi Res sprites
- Good netcode
- Good story mode (really, they should maybe reboot the game and tie it in with Tsukihime 2 or something, and make a good new story - this is their forte after all)

But then I woke up :P

Hmmm, since melty's sprite style is basically pure anime, it would be cool to finally see a FG where the in game sprites are pretty much identical in style and appearance to the character select art.   They should hire some anime studio to do all the artwork & sprites at anime/tv/broadcast resolutions, and then downscale it to sprites for the game.  That way, even if hardware improves and they can use higher resolutions, they have the source sprites at super hi res so they dont need to redraw anything.

Either that or go 2.5D using celshaded graphics like the PS3 Naruto game.

Surely with all the typemoon success everywhere, there would be enough money floating around to make the next melty (after MBAAFT) a proper modern game?

Worked so well for KoF12 amirite?

P3 Anyone?

.......I still haven't finished the ps2 one.......

Been chipping away at it every now and then, I've gotten past the part where you get betrayed by the sponser, not much further than that though.

20 monopoly dollars says that P3 will be vastly superior in every way/shape/form.

This.
