haha yeah man. i always felt the game deserved more than it was given credit for.

anyway, i tried to come up with a cool name for the event but i failed horribly. "philly cheese blood?" "bloody cheesesteak?"  :-\ i think not. goodluck coming up with one.

oh and what means would you recommend for getting to glenside from ny/nj using the least possible amount of dinero?

People should have already loketested pciel in Japan, are there no vids/impressions out there?

impressions (or something): http://nrvnqsr.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=6553&page=8#714740

don't know how valid the "no air combos" bit is since the character is still totally new but yeah, roa lightning type stuff in crescent and half sounds interesting.

oh and 7HS stands for 7th Holy Scripture, her big pilebunker. just inb4 someone confuses that for notation...

i live in jersey city, a few blocks away from the journal square path train station. i regularly make pretty good use of my easy access to manhattan so it's no problem for me to take bus routes and what not from new york to wherever i need to go in the NY/NJ/PA/CT/MA area. well its still something of a monetary problem...

Wow such a populated area is all shoved into one thread?  :nyoro:
I kinda feel bad because I don't really check out here all that often, but I really like this game I swear.

Anyone in or around Philly-
I meant to extend this earlier, but things have been really hectic organizing everything, getting everything ready, marvel 3 release, winter brawl, and me being sick as fuck. I've got a venue for you guys! :toot: :toot:

When: Every Saturday Night!
Where:111 South Easton Road, Glenside PA 19038 (You have buses running down Easton Rd as well as East Glenside Ave, also the Glenside train station across the street!)
We've got six monitors running (All Asus monitors, 2ms so no one can bitch) Middle two can run off component video (I've got a PS2 component cable I keep with me) so PS2 is a go (I'll even bring my copy of AA). I'd be down for running monthly tournaments/ranbats (I can even stream) if you guys can get me enough players. Anyone interested?

meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee plz can i come? i can bring a copy of melty/magicswap as well and ive been dying to play with people who actually play this game again.

soooooooo it seems like this character has kinda been left in the dust...
it's too bad because he seems like the most interesting complete version of roa in AA imo

anyway i was messing with c roa the other day, randomly ex shielded an F ciel air knife while in blood heat and got last arc.
to my surprise, it seemed to work as a full screen grab so i took it to training mode..

now i'm sure it isn't exactly news to everyone but i didn't see any info on how the last arc worked so i figured i post what i learned here.
it seems to be somewhat similar to ryougi's last arc in that
-it can be activated by (ground) ex shielding any shieldable attack projectile or otherwise and catches the opponent wherever they are onscreen.
-it ignores any defense modifiers, dealing exactly 5000 unreduceable damage to any character at whatever health.
-it also (unlike ryougi's) recovers a large amount of red health (equivalent to health lost by the opponent?)

now this next part is why i'm posting here: it randomly fails. sometimes roa's last arc will activate and he'll start up his attack and then... nothing!
why? does anyone know? i realize a last arc is far from crucial to any character's game but this has been bothering me. is it unable to grab characters landing/starting up their jump? is this just another case of LOLroa? IS THIS CHARACTER ENTIRELY UNLOVED?? thanks for your time, guys.

Reminds me of Queen of Heart 99.

haha it kinda reminds me of nitro royale.
for those who never heard of it (not that you should have), it was a nitroplus crossover battle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC3dASEeWFA

SPOILER ALERT: it also had our current code summer character in its roster.... jk (i hope):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdynYEUMYhE

actually, maybe i wouldnt mind melty becoming more an All Around Type Moon fighter soo much. maybe.

Shoutouts for Yui for making the trip, keeping in touch with us until he arrived, and giving us the Nanaya experience that we were so lacking. You're absolutely welcome back anytime!

ahh thank you, thank you. it was an invaluable experience and i think i was probably (read: i was definitely) the one who benefit the most over the weekend. it was great to escape training mode and theory fighter for a while and gain some good new matchup experience. i've got a whole list of ideas and things to test and work on now so i'll definitely show you guys better play the next time and i'll do my best to bring warC and H/F nana up to par as well.

also shout outs to new england in general for being so gdlk and so hospitable and shoutouts especially to lpt and his H akuma vermilion for forcing me to stop autopiloting so much in matches and taking my warc color. :emo: i will be back for it.

Also chibi may have already forgotten that Arthur has projectiles that destroy phoenix's homing projectiles and keep going to hit her.  The only way I could get one out is if I made him block an assist.

speculationnnnnnnngogogo:

i was wondering, since i haven't seen any phoenix's try this yet, couldn't you just bait any projectile, teleport behind him/above him/whereever and punish with a full combo? she can teleport while jumping too so i'm thinking you could sj.fireballs and teleport around to the other side while he throws something and even if he pushes you out again, the homing fireballs would still be err homing so he has to block em eventually or get hit.
i'm thinking maybe you really don't need to actually play fireball war with someone like arthur when you're phoenix.

Yeah, I'm complaining about a character who can resurrect herself, but who loses life after resurrection, but can then use a super to drain YOUR life and gain hers back, or that can even be tagged out and gain her health back anyway, while still being in that form until being tagged back in. On top of which she gets MULTIPLE HITTING HOMING PROJECTILES she can throw out in her normal mode. Arthur has no ground dash, no air dash, and shit mobility. He needs assists to cover the ground that this bitch can just super jump and chuck out on her own. Big shit she loses health, Arthur has equally to just as bad health, and probably the worst when he loses his armor.

dark phoenix is annoying as all hell. i think this site needs a trauma emoticon to really do it justice.

kindly (with your other non-arthur non-zoning characters) use your snapback early in the match, bring phoenix in and destroy her unmercifully. use lockdown assists (jam session etc.) to cover mixups and get back in against pushblock and never let us speak of trying to fight dark phoenix ever again especially with morrigan or x 23. :emo:

38
...That said, who are you anyway?

lol what? i'm not sure what you mean. i'm not secretly someone you know or anything. haha
i'm just a fan of 2d fighters in general and i've been on and off into melty blood since aa showed up at ctf.
i went to the bbg before the last one but showed up too late to enter so i can match some player's names to faces.

39
carmine looks cool. like motw freeman with tohno SHIKI blood powers.
maybe that means the summer mbaacc update character is CAPSLOCK-kun afterall.

and lolololol waldstein looks like megaman battle network's version of slashman

40
i literally got up, checked meltybread, started watching these, and now my whole day is basically gone.   :emo:

good matches, though, everyone.
ehrik's wara especially. great play from a character i pretty much forgot was in the game until now.

also if you ever read this, rokunaya, i have a few suggestions but they are just my conjecture so feel free to tl;dr all this.
imo you should use 5bb combos more midscreen since they generally net more damage and you dont really get any oki from most midscreen 5c bnbs anyway.

and after sj.22 crossup in the corner you should lose the 623. i think you're giving up way too much damage for oki.
if, instead of: 2b2c5c623xx (on v sion this gets like 2.5k after fastfall),
you ran: 2b5c2c214b 2a5c j.bc sdj.bca airthrow (4280 on v sion after fastfall)
you would do almost twice as much  and still re-corner the opponent.
its not great oki, but if done correctly it still leaves you close enough to the opponent to connect with 2b5c if they try to poke/jump out (depends on enemy wakeup speed) and also 5a/throw option select which, if done early as possible, WILL catch ryougis holding [7] on wakeup.

and that's all i can think of. oh and maybe mixup 5a reverse beats with 22c occasionally for less rebeat damage penalties. please don't feel like i'm singling you out or anything. i'm just offering my perspective if you want it and i don't really know what to suggest for other characters that were played in those matches, not playing them and all...
anyway good shit. i look forward to seeing your matches in the future.

errm i'm not quite sure i'm quoting correctly but i'll try and copy how you did it and hope it turns out right.

i main c/h/f nanaya and sub c warc.... yeah i know.

...."Yeah you know" what? All of those are legit characters who rely on fundamentals for higher level play. There's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

"yeah i know" as in here comes another guy playing what seems to be the most popular character in the states AND runs a pretty scrubby one in comparison to other, already established players. (seriously my neutral melty game is pretty garbage.)

No, all the players that play melty at CTF are definitely free, since they don't go out and play people who live near good players by the arcade.

haha i see sumazndude and tinshi down there sometimes but they never seem to so much as touch that machine.

edit: seems to have turned out nicely. and thanks i really like this game and hope i can play a lot more of it with everyone.

hi i'm bad at this game.
currently live in new jersey and play melty/cvs2/kof xiii/arcana/whatever at chinatown fair semioften. blahblah
i rarely find any players who seem to know how to play there though.
its mostly people with fake cat ears/tails and the whole cabinet is a horrible piece of shit from back when they had arcana 2 for a week.

i main c/h/f nanaya and sub c warc.... yeah i know.
i was thinking about switching my sub to my main out of shame, but it almost feels like a waste of watching all those nana match vids on nico.
i can somewhat play h roa, h ries, and f v-akiha but only in that i know some bnbs and have an idea of which moves are good for what situation.
anyway, i digress.
it's nice to meet you all.

p.s. the "rarely find anyone who knows how to play" bit was definitely not an insult to anyone who says they go to cf to melty. it only means i don't go all that often and when i do find someone to play with they usually don't seem to be interested in the game competitively.
