NetPlay Community / Suddenly cannot connect to UDP.7500...
« on: December 15, 2007, 03:24:30 PM »
I used the relay ip to play MBAC many times but today, it's not receiving any signal.
I use a linksys router, and I tried forwarding but that seems to have no effect
as I've been playing without forwarding in the past. I haven't tried other ports
so it might be that I can't connect to any ports. Any ideas? ???

1- Nonsuper invincible start-up moves exist but they are made so that they can be hit out of. If there's a super armor (MBAC term for invincible frame) frame, the opponent can repeatedly hit you without delay (ex. repeatedly using "a") and hit you before your move after the super armor frame is over even if it was to continue into an attack. Nobody intentionally uses the super armor frames to counter attacks as the game's too fast paced.

2- The most important thing is blocking. One hit can lead into combos that take 1/4~1/3 of your life. Shield is used mostly (and only) when the character has a good skill to follow up (ex. Vampire Sion's 623C that leads into a combo), but there's too much risk involved. Many times, shielding projectiles and summons can get you in a worse position. It's not like SF 3rd strike where more you can tech the better it is. If you watch top players, many of them don't ever shield at all (though I saw Arlieth do it many times). Shield bunkers... can be hit out or avoided... I don't know of any normal or top players that use it effectively.

4- "Invalid" means that it isn't a combo. That is, if the opponent does a recovery move, that move won't hit the opponent. A trick to making them not work... I'm guessing you mean not to make it count as invalid? If so, you must first do a combo string that is guaranteed to combo, and you must get the timing right. No tricks really, only practice.

Thnx for the response.

So other than difference in feel, are there any gameplay issues with square gates?
It's just that in all places they say that square gates are great for 3D games, but not
for 2D games that require lots of quarter circle and half circle movements like MBAC.
The major concern for me using square gates is if I will mess up on correct directional
movements such as accidentally doing up diagnal rather than straight up as their are
no curves to tell me where my stick is at.

Do Japanese machines use square gates or circle gates?

... wow sorry for the endless questions.

I wish to know how the MBAC machines are in US, specifically the stick.

Do the sticks have a square or circle base? As in, if you were to turn it 360 degrees,
does it turn smoothly in a circle or have corners?

I'm trying to buy HRAP3, but the only thing that I do not like about it is the square base
rather than a circle base (and the price :P), so I want to know what stick US machines have.

Thanks.

P.S. What sticks do you guys use?

HRAP3 was compatible with only ps3 and pc.

HOWEVER

With the new firmware you can use it on ps2, also.

So, since HRAP 2 is incompatible with ps3...

About Saulabi,

it has good reviews for being good bang for the buck. However, it's still
an economic stick, meaning no high quality parts are used.

It is supposedly a reference to a detective anime/manga, not related to Tsukihime or Melty Blood.

It's pretty fun and I would say worthwhile. If you can't play melty blood offline with anyone else, netplay is the next best thing. Prepare to adjust a lot, though. First of all, you can only play ReAct right now, so combos and timing is all different. The other thing is that there is lag, and it slows down the game quite a bit. This makes some combos that can easily be executed in normal play, i.e. Satsuki's Ex-arm loop, very very hard to do. Even with all that, it's still a lot more fun than playing the crappy computer who never blocks on when getting up.
