Sure, PMing it to you.  Don't call me between 9PM and 6AM on monday or tuesday this week though, have work.

I'm looking at getting a hotel room like 3 blocks from the Venue.  Has free high-speed internet access and the price isn't too terribly bad.  It's at the Nash Hotel.  If someone wants to split the cost of the room I'm down with sharing a room with someone, but I'd need someone to contact me within the next couple weeks so we can work stuff out, as I haven't made a reservation yet.

Depending on how much money I have I might be willing to do some at NCI on the 28th.  I'd have to take a raincheck pending money though.  I'm an Oregon player though.  I main NAC.

Understood. Thank you, but forgive me for asking. NAC? Nero..?

Neco Arc Chaos.  I placed 2nd at Install in March, entered under The Kenyan.

Just so I know, is anyone willing to do money matches (no, not against me) on the stream for Melty Blood? If so, I'd like to get some top players from the community to be featured, but I'd need to know first if I can organize this somehow.

If interested, please tell me if you are from Norcal, Socal, etc., the character you play, and how much you'd be willing to money match someone for.

I will try to find other people who will be willing to money match, and ideally, I'd like 3 hype matches on the stream. I'm doing this for Blazblue CS and probably Guilty Gear as well.

Screw it, I'm going.  Worse comes to worse I'll find some way to Deer Taxi IRL down to Berkeley.

58
No kidding, there's no MBAA scene at OR. Everyone here plays SSF4 (which ain't that bad).

There was a MBAA scene here.  I think I scared them all off.

In all seriousness though, do any of you guys live in the Portland area?  I'm down for some games at some point.

Came across something interesting.

I'm not sure how many characters this works on, but I do know for sure it works on Kouma(came across it in some casuals).

If you're fighting a target whom is crouch blocking during deer taxi, if you are close enough to them you can cross them up with the A attack(the deer will jump over them and hit them from behind).

I can't seem to get the spacing right to duplicate it in practice mode reliably so I haven't been able to test what characters it works on exactly yet.

Messing around with this char again.  Going to see if there's any way to apply H-Koha's battou loops to H-KohaMech's 214A assist to allow more reps of the battou loop than normally possible.

Edit: By doing a throw during the startup of 22A/B, Mech Hisui will perform a throw break animation with Neco Arc. Possibly good for faking oki or cancelling a botched input?

Doing this with NAC causes the invulnerability glitch.  I hope this doesn't cause it too.

Console/Joke Char tier

Ryougi > S Akiha = Mecha+Koha >> Mecha+Neko > Neco arc = NAC

NA is better than NAC :|

Anyways on a more relevant note, is there any sort of tentative tierlist for either CC or PS2, seeing as how a fairly large number of balancing changes have been made?(H-Koha having her command throw damage raped for example)

64
Pretty much.  There's really no reason to use an "arcade only" rule list, banning AE is one thing, but falling to an arcade only banlist would seriously ruin a lot of Ryougi players' day.

Yeah 5[C] in general is a solid meaty, although due to its range following up any pressure after it is kind of impractical.  Personally I'd more suggest 5 depending on spacing.

66
on top of requiring more power, i think the problem with that recording setup is that the quality wouldn't be any better since you are recording the stream and not the raw video, which happens to be the concern being addressed here.

Yeah pretty much.  IMO quality should be a larger concern than live streaming just because if people can't watch the stream due to quality issues then streaming it isn't accomplishing anything anyways.

That's just my opinion though.

Kohaku & Mech-Hisui / Re: Silly KohaMech team
« on: March 10, 2010, 11:33:11 AM »
I had been messing with H-KohaMech trying to figure out 214A combos.

In general, the basic form for them is

5C 5A 6AA 2[C] 214A 5C j.BC dj.BC airthrow

A harder variation is (and this is a bit character specific)

5C 5A 6AA 2[C] 214A BE5B delay 5A (that is hard) 5C 2A (whiff) 214A j.BC dj.BC

A really fucking cool variation is

5C 5A 6AA 2[C] 214A 236B(delay)A 5AC 236B(delay)A 5AC 214A j.BC dj.BC airthrow.

The first one is a lot of damage as it is and isn't too hard to confirm into, unfortunately, very often Mech-Hisui won't be in the right place and the entire combo just doesn't work.  It's a shame.  If you CAN confirm into it at any point though, at least doing a single 236B(delay)A loop isn't hard and you could definitely use the double loop as a bnb.

I did run her some in casuals though and I wouldn't say she's... bad, but I also don't feel she's good.  Was just trying to see if I could land those combos.

I did some testing on my own time and it looks like all of H-Kohaku's battou loops work identically as H-KohaMech(she still has all of her battous including the feint).  Something that I found kind of interesting is that EX battou appears to be inferior in just about every way to EX lightning grab.  Both cannot be comboed off of, but it looks like every situation in which you can EX battou you can Ex 623C and get more damage and keep the same oki opportunities that Battou would give you.

Her command throw unfortunately is pretty notably inferior to H-Kohaku's, it can be comboed off of but they are allowed to tech at about halfway down the screen, making using ground moves part of the followup impossible, you're limited to a standard air combo->airthrow.

214A, 214C and 22A/B all look to be capable of leading to at minimum 4k damage combos, although 214A requires you be close enough to the wall to catch them on their way down.  22C can be used for oki and depending on spacing and timing used either to cover high/low mixups or throw attempts, however because Mech is occupied during it you CANNOT command throw during 22C, it will knock them up into the air and let them tech for free, you have to use standard throw.  Much like Nero Crows->throw setups though the flamethrower still damages them during your throw, making the damage still solid even with just a normal throw.

Edit:Also her 623C has enough active frames it can be used as an air tech punish as well as jump deterrent.

that's a glitch

The infinite or the 22a unblockable?

Skwuck - 22b is techable.

The 22A unblockable looks like a glitch.  The infinite however looks like it's just a ridiculously tight link.

Is it at all possible that recording could be done independently of the stream?  That way after the match a more reliable post-ranbat method can be used for videos(youtube or something).  The quality of the recordings this month were pretty bad due to connection issues and because the only recording was the stream itself there's no way to fix it.

70
Qaenyin, is it true you really haven't played like almost at all previous to the tourney? If thats true, then I think there's something wrong with norcal (hint, this is to get you guys mad, to get better, beat me in a tourney I'll show up to next month, in turn makes me want to get better, etc. No hard feelings.) Good shit anyways, too bad I couldn't make it out to see this (plus I hear you're a player of really poor fighting games now) so we could have played some random shit.

I've only played casuals 2 or 3 times since I was at evo, yeah, but I did a lot of combo grinding and shit over the week before norcal install.  But yeah, I'm mostly poverty fighter player now lol, so I'm down with that.  I won't be able to make it to April's ranbat but I'll do what I can to get to May's.  Get hype!  :toot:

Also DJCream, you have a valid point.  Although, EX beam is actually a tech punish setup, if it's done properly you can't avoid it, you just have a choice of either risking taking a bunch of chip/getting tech punished by teching or taking like 800ish extra damage by not teching.  EX Deer Taxi vs YAT was honestly psychic dumb luck, as I accidentally reversaled the only move I know of that it can actually punish as a reversal vs kouma.

GL to you guys on improving though, and if you want to PM me with some questions about NAC I can always clarify some of the shit about him if you want.

I have to say though I find it rather hilarious that everyone feels me placing in a tourney is some significant blow to the manhood of northern california that must have excuses made for it... except the people who are actually in northern california.

Someone being a sore loser is one thing, but the Norcal guys were great, took it in stride and I'm sure are gonna come back next time ready to try and kick my ass.  Yet y'all are the ones who feel like they need excuses made for them like they can't do it themselves.  And seeing as how I placed second, not first, they sure as hell can do it themselves.

They're being the better man(men?) here, and the only thing that could even attempt to make em look bad is the way you guys are acting about some of(and not even all of) them losing.

Two thumbs up to norcal for not acting like kids like some of the people in this thread.

Kohaku & Mech-Hisui / Re: Silly KohaMech team
« on: March 08, 2010, 07:44:40 PM »
Anyone tried messing with H-KohaMech?  I was fiddling with them in casuals recently and that 214A assist is fucking evil at grabbing counterhits, and the 22C flamethrower is mad oki.  214A can be comboed off as well if you're close enough to the wall it slams them into.  22B can OTG or be used as spacing specific pressure, and her command throw doesn't look half bad.  214C and the non-EX electro punches seem pretty useless though.  And she still has all of kohaku's standard combos and pokes, all she really loses is molotovs(minor benefit) and plants(mitigated somewhat by flamethrower, which can be used instead and does the same thing for the most part).

74
What almost everyone here is forgetting is that even though Neco-Arc Chaos is one of the worst characters in the game, you still have to know how to fight the fucker. He's not that free, especially if you're whiffing every other normal and giving him free combos.

It really illustrates the lack of match-up experience in America, if nothing else.

With that said, I'm not sure what to root for here. I remember Qaenyin being an insufferable douche, but that seems to be not so much the case anymore (?) -- that and I'm always for putting NorCal on blast.

I'd have to agree with you here Dip.  There were a lot of matches I feel were won from factors other than just matchup experience, and those were notably closer than the rest.  Snozz's Ryougi for example gave me an incredible run for my money, he adapted really quick and it showed.  In a few cases it really was matchup experience though.  I think YAT deserved a closer fight than he got between us and I think it really was just inexperience with the matchup that made it so onesided in our match as an example.
