Tournament Results / EVO 2014 anime side tournament results
« on: July 14, 2014, 10:42:36 PM »
Huge thanks to everyone who participated in any of 5 tournaments. Frankly, I thought there would be like 20 people max so seeing 50 people for Melty Blood and 43 people for LOVE MAX!!!!! went beyond all expectations. Also big shoutouts to everyone who stood up to watch the stream. I know it was starting to get late for many of you on the East Coast when Top 8 rolled around.

Anyways to the results (that I can remember of the top):

Chaos Code (20 entries)
1. BE Abegen (Bravo)
2. HF Blade (Cerberus)
3. DBlank (MG Hikaru)

Aquapazza (25 entries)
1. Mabushin (Chizuru)
2. Eh-Sama (Chizuru)
3. KOG (Tamaki, DQ'd himself during top 4 due to qualifying into top 32 SF4)
4. Lark (Oboro)

Melty Blood (50 entries)
1. Lord Knight (Kohaku)
2. HF Blade (Ciel)
3. Kusanagi (Aoko)

EVO 2014 is quickly approaching and many airdash/anime games left with no representation in the official tournament lineup. This year, with the help of volunteers (and hopefully EVO staff), we can make these under appreciated games a chance to shine.

Side tournament games: Melty Blood: Actress Again Current Code (PC), Arcana Hearts 3 LOVE MAX!!!!! (PS3), Chaos Code (PS3),  Aquapazza (PS3), JoJo's All-Star (PS3 USA)

ORGANIZATION:
- Ideally, 4-6 full setups will be needed to run at least two of these games at the same time. If you can volunteer for equipment (PS3/TVs and laptops), step up and let me know.
- Stream? No plans as of now for a stream. Numakie and Dippy will be providing recording equipment so at least 2 stations will be recorded. We will try to save as many Melty Blood replays.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:
- Until EVO divulges the official tournament schedule, times for these side tournaments will be undetermined. I would like to create as little conflict with pulling players from the official BlazBlue tournament.
- Until then, I will assume that BBCP will wrap up within a single day.

NON-BBCP tournament day: Aquapazza, Chaos Code, Melty Blood
- 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tournament signups - Names will be entered into the bracket after the money is paid. Please state your region (NorCal/SoCal/Vegas/EC/ect.) so the bracket makers can seed by region.
- 1 p.m. - 2 p.m., Brackets being made - Seeding done by region to reduce "Friendly Fire." Last minute registration and getting word out to players that the tournament is gonna start. Please tell TO's if you have an afternoon pool!
- 2 p.m. - END, tournament starts - DQ's will be given if matches are holding up the bracket.

BBCP tournament day: JoJo's All-Star Battle, Arcana Hearts 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!
- 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tournament signups - Names will be entered into the bracket after the money is paid. Please state your region (NorCal/SoCal/Vegas/EC/ect.) so the bracket makers can seed by region.
- 2 p.m. - 3 p.m., Brackets being made - Seeding done by region to reduce "Friendly Fire." Last minute registration and getting word out to players that the tournament is gonna start. Please tell TO's if you have an afternoon pool!
- 3 p.m. - END, tournament starts - DQ's will be given if matches are holding up the bracket.

NO ONLINE REGISTRATION:
- Please join this group and invite friends so I can gauge interest and bring enough equipment and brackets big enough to accommodate.

GENERAL RULES
- All games are $5 per player
- All tournaments are double elimination pools. All matches are best of three except grand finals, which is best of five
- All brackets will be randomly generated, seeding will be based on region.

For those not in the know, the following has been copied from the dustloop forums...

===tl;dr===

  • For directions, please consult GameCenter's official website: http://www.gamecenterarcade.com/
  • To pre-reg, follow this link: http://norcalinstall.wordpress.com/registration/

Tournaments and Events / NorCal Ranbat @ SJSU -8/30/08-
« on: August 21, 2008, 07:49:12 PM »
Most info taken from qwerty from dustloop (too lazy to retype stuff)  :prinny:

Alright Norcal, you've been asking and now here it is. Our own special little tourney just for anime fightin' games.

We (me and the other organizers) will be at the SJSU Bowling Center at around noon to set things up, and then from 1pm to 4pm we'll be taking registration for both MB:AC and GGXX:AC (PS2) tournies. During this time there'll be setups for both games for casuals or money matches or whatever the hell you want to do (except break or steal them ).

The results of all tournies will be posted in this thread, and all players will be ranked based upon a win:loss ratio. These statistics will be kept and updated in (hopeful) future events.

As a side note, we did originally plan on a VF5 tourney as well as a 3S tourney, but there is currently not enough interest in VF5 and 3S means venue fee for freeplay on the cabinet. These are both things we want to do in the future, but for now we're just going to start small and work our way up .

Updated Schedule:
1pm-3pm: Registration for all tournies and free setups
3pm-Finish: GGXX:AC and MB:AC singles
Post tourney-1am: Free setups again

Rules:
- This should come as no surprise, but everyone must bring their own controllers. We're not going to supply sticks or controllers to anyone.
- Single brackets will be double-elimination and best of 3 rounds
- Entry fee is $3 per tourney. Pot will be split 70/20/10.
- Points will be seeded (your points will carry over to future tournies).
- Don't be an ass . We're all cool dudes who play obscure games of an obscure genre so try to keep conflict to a minimum.

Additional Info:
- Teams will only happen upon a vote.
- In case of MBAC teams, it'll be 2v2 SBO-style, with a vote for double/single elimination
- Pot split will be the same 70/20/10 and fee will be the same as singles ($3 per member).
- Teams will not be ranked

Equipment Checklist
DJcream - Laptop for MBAC, maybe TV for GGAC

Original Dustloop thread...
http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5030

Sorry for the short notice. I tried to get it set for later in September but I lost that argument, 1-2. So, I guess this will be a good warmup for that American Melty the week after.

Regional Community / NorCal: Possible Regional Tournament
« on: July 22, 2008, 10:58:35 PM »
Recently, I've been asked by a member of dustloop to get some responses towards the possibility of holding a major NorCal 2-day tournament. Basically, the details are undecided yet so I'm just interested how everyone else feels about the idea. The only things I can guarantee is that Melty Blood: Act Cadenza and Guilty Gear: Accent Core are confirmed games but as for date and possible venue is still up in the air.

Personally, I don't care on the date myself as long as I actually make it out there for once. But as for the venue, I've already expressed my preference for SJSU since they do have an GGAC cab. But I also hear talks of SVGL (which doesn't makes sense to me since none of those cabinets are there).

White Len / Vs. Lens and Red Arcs
« on: April 11, 2008, 01:04:44 AM »
What I notice is that W.Len's 2b is pretty much the gateway that leads W.Len into many of her powerful combos. However, vs. Lens and Re Arcs, that gate is closed and I have a hard time trying to gain the advantage against those 3.

So I've realized how much of a downfall it is to have one of her most useful moves to be useless but on top of that, vs. Len and Red Arc, characters with high poking priority, makes the matchup even harder against W.Len's crappy poke priority.

So how do I go about dealing with these characters. What do I use to score a knockdown and how should I follow up for the Oki?
