who's driving down with me
Unless you guys don't want melty at FR it will always have a home as long as you support FR events. :teach:  Who was the guy that streamed last year on the side?

Rayza and the MDVA crew brought their setups for streaming.

27
You people are retarded if you do not plan ahead for this shit. It is July 1st. Get your asses down here and support this tournament!

(Thank you based Larry.)

28
Also known as Nigga's Garden lol.

- Birmingham, AL (BHM Airport Code for out-of-towners) or Atlanta, GA (possible)
- Weekend gathering of stream monsters for God's Garden 6 that will be held at a hotel (room) to be determined.
- Casuals on Melty and other games for the duration of the weekend.
- Possible tournament with enough entrants.

If the South wants to get on this, post here and I'll see if I can have a decent headcount by the end of June to start planning a little bit more ahead of time. I've talked to some of you but I'ma need to get your input here as well. Location decisions between B'ham and Atlanta are acceptable too since I know tickets to get here are a bit more expensive than Atlanta.

Got the tweet from GODSGARDEN today. Donjon Network will restream MBAACC x GODSGARDEN 6. Shit is getting fixed on my stream as I type this lol. I'm too hype and got some shit in the works.

30
Thanks Curbeh. I tweeted Fubarduck to help me over there as well. He's working on it.

31
Awesome!

Provoding webspace for recorded streams, if you guys want.

Edit: Is 75GB enough? lol

Depends on how long it is. I'll be keeping this in mind.

Now as most of you know already from this morning, KSK is holding a GODSGARDEN tournament on September 1st for Current Code PC. This may come as a real shock to most as you would think Melty Blood be the last game to hold a GG tournament for. But it's happening and it isn't April 1st (lol Psyblade). If you've kept up with the previous GG tournaments, there has always been a restream of the tournament in its entirety by an American FG player and/or streaming channel. As a result, you were given quality matches from JP with player commentary/analysis in English. This restreaming line is planning to continue with this upcoming GG.

Soon after the announcement, I had a tweet teasing me and Brandino's show (Donjon Network 2nd Phase) to restream MBAACC x GODSGARDEN 6. Yeah I talked to Brandon about it and he is all for it; even considering to fly to Bama to help me stream this thing. It's a very big deal to us, even for a game people claim to be dead. People still do have a high respect for Melty within the (anime) community and it would help to bring that to America once again through this GG. If there is a better source to restream this tournament, that's great. Let us be the first to step up.

I want to do something with the Melty community in mind specifically. In everything that we do, we have a sight for community first. If you have any ideas or ways we can kickstart this boat of hype, let us know in this thread. I love you guys enough to do this and help give insert to this great opportunity we have. We have less than 4 months and I'd like for everyone to watch and be a part of Melty history.

There will be a DN show this Sunday at 9PM EST about the GODSGARDEN tournament (a good chunk of time will be dedicated to this) so you can stick around there for any more updates or assistance we may need for this stream.

I really hate to talk about the same thing that's been hindering the community for the longest. If anything, Final Round was a great time to kick start things up again. Of course the numbers weren't what we wanted but you must admit the game was far from dead there. It's what the mindset of the players were like after it. Not getting far on a PC port just shut everything down.

I doubt you'll go on after NEC. You just can't keep an offline community like this interested if there isn't enough exposure at tournaments. Don't even think about the stream exposure if the game isn't there at all. I suggest you put your efforts toward the tournament area again if you have the funds for it...if you ever have the funds for it.

You're all tired of the bullshit, yeah. But I suggest you don't bitch about present times if you're just not gonna do anything about it anymore. Action is the only thing that's getting this community back on its feet, that's the bottom line.

I'm considering this if this job lands. Mid June is the best for me since that's around my b'day. May would be fine too.

« on: March 16, 2012, 05:39:07 AM »
Giving some insight to an idea of how H-Arc should be viewed in the sense of players starting or getting better with her:

- H-Arc ground normals are fast. They do force good trades now thanks to the new CH system. Also, hit confirms are easy enough to carry opponents to the corner w/o losing too much damage.
- H-Arc is still able to inflict good and consistent damage from PS2.
- H-Arc is one of the best carriers in this game thanks to combos continuing from 214B jump cancel.
- H-Arc has a great run and can cover space on the ground well.
- H-Arc has a great defense modifier.
- H-Arc blockstrings are strong, tight, but must have a good knowledge of understanding her normals.
- H-Arc only true mixup is post throw/post j.2[c] midscreen. They can go many ways but there is no forcible option. It is all choice.

What does all of this mean?

H-Arc is mainly versatile on the ground moreso than the air. Her air game is good, yet not as good as a good set number of the cast. Her best normals are not her air ones, but her ground ones. If you can force an opponent to the ground from a bad jumpout/failed spacing then it is an opportunity to get them back down. Air throw with H-Arc is pretty much useless since there is j.2[c] to force a knockdown long enough to start any sort of mixup with her.

As I've stated before, her carry is very strong for a number of reasons. Smaller stage, 214B jump cancel combos, and 4C carry. Since she does have a strong carry game, you should be leading to the corner much more than in PS2. The corner is no exception for any other character in the game: she is a beast there so you should do your best to convert your combo to be sure she gets there. Damage shouldn't be of a concern here either since most of her corner carry combos net the best damage.

Once you get in the corner? This is where your ground normals shine brighter than anywhere on the screen. Knowledge of your normals to make tight blockstrings that would either 1 of 2 things: shake the opponent from fear or force the opponent to press the wrong button. H-Arc normals are more fast than stronger in other frame areas. Convert an opening into a combo that ends in j.2[C] to start a high/low. Add in a few throws to start running choices. Super jump high/low can be expanded onto crossups, sandoori, or cross hops.

To the American Melty Blood Community:

For those who did not know who I was or didn't know who was running your bracket until now, I apologize if I haven't introduced myself to you before. I was that black guy standing on chairs screaming into megaphones for names. My name is SilentShinobi and I have been running brackets for Melty Blood at FR for all the 4 years it was there. I am also an activist for this game and has pretty much had a hand in most of the Melty festivities this past weekend. I would like to say first and foremost that I do appreciate everyone's attendance at Final Round this year. Final Round has always been a community driven tournament series and I am no exception to giving credit to the community for doing what it can to make it.

With a hoarse voice and alot on my mind after this weekend known as the 15th anniversary of Final Round, I have to congratulate you guys for breaking barriers just like we have 2 years ago. Numbers wise, this has turned into the biggest EC Melty Blood tournament in the history of the game in America; exceeding NEC '09 which was the first PS2 Actress Again major. It is also the 2nd biggest tournament only being overshadowed by Evo 2010. Region wise, we had participants from over 20 states and expanding 5 countries which turns FR into a very diverse tournament filled with people from all over the world who love the game. Skill wise, runbacks were ran back and has shown to become the tournament that Japan's supremacy over America was halted. From strong OG players such as Pfhor, Choco, and Voomer to the East Coast's rising stars within LordKnight, Ehrik, and FRXV champion Tonberry. From West Coast finest HF-Blade, Numakie, and Bellreisa to Japan's very own Garu, Chelsea, and even the Marvel champion Kusoru. To top it off from a stream monster's perspective, we broke 2200+ simultaneous viewers by the start of Grand Finals Sunday morning. A show to behold indeed.

How could this have happened?

As I said before, this entire operation was community driven. From the promotion to JP and beyond of FR to the setups you played on. This is what Final Round was all about, and it was because of ShinBlanka that we were able to expose this to a point where we couldn't have done it all alone. The only people I can think of that could something as crazy as this is you, and only you. In my eyes, this community has definitely made a way out of no way and shown only a small percentage of what you guys are capable of. I've talked to many of you over the weekend and you all were pretty much satisfied and amazed at what this entire tournament ended up becoming. I do appreciate the words that will forever be remembered from this weekend and won't take them for granted at all.

We have done well for Final Round and words cannot express what I saw develop over the weekend. I am honestly impressed and show praise to you lot. If you weren't here, you definitely missed out.

Consider this a milestone in all things Melty Blood in America; a milestone that was only possible by the community themselves.

As a tournament organizer, this has been an experience and a real endurance test for me. Never have I done a bracket of this amount by myself. To finish off 73 players to a final 8 in the time frame that I've done it was a real accomplishment and I hope to do this again in the near future. I do appreciate everyone for being prompt to their matches even though the setups themselves were not labeled. You got to know your opponent and were able to communicate with me about the status of your matches. Even though then my voice wasn't at its best, some of you lent your voices to me. Even though I was away from the bracket to tend to other announcements and my own tournament matches, some of you protected my bracket and kept it up to date. Thank you.

As a player, I feel as though I have not given myself completely to most of you eager to play me. I've only played 3 sets this entire weekend, not including my tourney matches. To be honest, it comes with the territory of being an organizer. The ability to weigh the importance of both shows responsibility to what you must attend to. Unfortunately, most of my time this weekend was being spent away from playing the game. Whether it be by ballroom setting up, organizing tournament, ripping and running to have it run smoothly, finishing up grad schoolwork, sleep catchup, or just downtime to chill and not just play. In conclusion, I do sincerely apologize that I said I was going to play you, but ended up not doing so over the weekend. Like I said before, the load of being an organizer to the load of advancing my skill was only showing me what needed to be done over the weekend in order for everyone else to have a good time.

Do I regret it? To be honest, I don't. Because I will always be at a tournament I won't have to be held down to just organize. =P

I am glad to had met some old faces I haven't seen since the very first Melty Blood tournament here at Final Round, to Evolution, and over the years around the country. If my time in the game cannot excuse my absence from the game, my conversation with you all definitely brings me back to the reason why I play this game in the first place. Unfortunately, the next few months will be very hard to ensure any time solidified in the game. As I've already told most of you, I am graduating on the 15th and I have to focus on a college graduate mindset afterwards. This doesn't mean I'm quitting, but I am definitely on an advancement hiatus for awhile until I get my life straight. I'm sure most of you do post-college grads know what I'm talking about.

Where you go from Final Round is up to you. All I'm trying to sum up is that you all have done much this weekend to show how much you care about the game. I assure you, your hard work has not gone in vain and hollow ground. You have exposed this game once again successfully. Do not let go of this chance you have!

- Until Next Stage.

Tournament Results / Final Round XV Results!
« on: March 04, 2012, 07:26:00 PM »
http://www.finalround.org/FRXV/results.cfm

Full results of singles and teams are up on the site now. Personal shoutouts later tonight.

40
...when were you ever here to even require a return?

41
Been in there since FRX (2007). This will be my 6th one running. I feel old now. ;_;

Teams will start at 7PM on Friday.
Singles will start at 10am sharp on Saturday. No exceptions. Be ready to perform then.

42
Larry, I had a few problems with my taxes this year so I'm gonna have to apply for my games at the door on Thursday. I was meaning to tell you earlier, but was still uncertain exactly when I was getting my return.

I'll be seeing some of you guys Thursday as well. Get ready.

43
http://www13.plala.or.jp/french/uni.htm

Some game mechanics got spilt on their main site. You'd get to know what the GRD is all about. Apparently there are instant kills and command dashes (6D).

44
I do my best to allocate the brackets according to region but like Larry said, it is imperative that you register early.

Oh btw Larry (and you may tell me this at the meeting Sunday), but are my people w/ setups able to get waived on the badges? If they are, do they just have to register for the games alone?

45
Sorry It would cost me roughly $500 to get down to Atlanta to go to Final Round, and that I need that money to go to school in the summer. Sorry for putting my education in front of Melty Blood.

There's nothing to be sorry about when it comes to not being a dumb person in this day and age. Get your education man.

46
Gonna send you a PM Larry. Look out for it.

Rayza notified me of 3 setups MD will be bringing. Seven setups ought to be enough to do what we need to do. I am closing down setup invitations now. If the aforementioned cannot make FR for any reason, I will consider setups then.

To double check w/ Larry, the waiver for bringing setups to Final Round tournaments still applies this year right?
